after a restless night of sleep...

as i explained to my mother last night about sports karma, i told her since Manchester United got a win they probably didn't deserve, the games tonight are going to be a punch in the dick. sure enough.

the New York Rangers lost last night at home to the Penguins, who were missing their two best players, Crosby and Malkin. the Rangers lost, 3-2. well, they play tonight at Columbus. i won't be shocked if they fucking lose tonight as well. and if they do, it will be time to blow up the team and be sellers at the trade deadline.

the Dayton Flyers lost last night at home to VCU, 73-68. you can't have more turnovers than assists in a game and win. and the sad thing is, Dayton was winning in the second half. yet another piss poor coaching job... they will have to win the A10 tournament now if they want to make the NCAA tournament.

here are your links for this day of Black History Month:

so where do i begin

i feel like so much has happened over the last 30 hours or so... between the Super Bowl, a trip to the doctor's office, a child i nearly beat the shit out of, an incredible documentary and yet another Manchester United meltdown... as you might imagine, i'm tired.

i'll start with Manchester United. i was fucking pissed at halftime because they had 10 corners against Chelsea and didn't manage to get 1 fucking shot on goal. thankfully, they played a much better second half. Jesse Lingard scored an incredible goal to put United up. with 6 minutes left in the game, i actually thought that United was going to win at Chelsea for the first time in a long fucking time. silly me. Chelsea scored in stoppage time for a 1-1 draw. not the way i wanted to start off my Sunday.

after i took a shower i decided to watch that James Foley documentary before the Super Bowl. i should have had some tissues by me as this documentary absolutely brought me to tears. it was gripping from the start to the finish. i HIGHLY recommend everyone check it out on HBO.

i did watch the Super Bowl. i don't give a shit about either team. i picked the game wrong, which is something like 5 Super Bowls in a row i have picked wrong. the commercials were ok but nothing really blew me away as holy shit great. maybe the Doritos baby commercial was my favorite one. i enjoyed halftime. if Bruno Mars doesn't watch out, he'll have to do halftime every year. as a New Orleans Saints fan, i'm happy that Peyton Manning won. now he can fucking retire.

i watched Shameless and Billions this morning as i wanted to get some sleep. i might have got close to 5 hours of sleep. that's plenty for me. Shameless was great. it also reminded me why i don't have a cell phone. i really enjoyed Billions this week. most likely that's due to Metallica being on the show.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

tonight on the DVR will be The X-Files.

the New York Rangers take on New Jersey tonight. i'm interested to see how they are going to play given that the captain is out with a concussion. the defense was already hurting enough.

Monday Night Raw should be very interesting tonight now that the news has hit that Daniel Bryan has retired. he's going to be on the show tonight. i was really hoping he was going to be able to come back and compete again. hopefully they give him the proper sendoff tonight. i will definitely be watching.

so the doctor was really pleased with my numbers. but, he decided to keep me on the pill he had me on to see if the numbers can get even better. he also sent in orders to set up a trip to get my colon checked. now that i'm 40 and given the family history, i figure i better start the checks for colon cancer now. not that i don't mind dying, it's just that i'd like to have a bit of say in the matter.

here's where the shit got weird at the doctor's office. i walked in, signed in and sat down. this little kid, i'm guessing 5 or 6 years old, comes up to me and says hi. i said hello. he then starts to grab my goatee and play with it. his mother grabs him and says i'm so sorry. i said nothing. the kid then sits next to me and touches my neck for some fucking reason. his mother says he must like you. i said i guess while in my head i'm saying i guess your son has never had the shit beat out of him. i told my mother this and she said it's obvious that children find you fascinating. i told her that's great but kids don't have disposable incomes to buy my books and art.

i got my latest order from Steiner Sports today in the mail. i really need to get some frames to get this stuff up on the walls. i got an autograph photo of Mike Keenan holding the Stanley Cup when the New York Rangers won in 1994. i also got a little bit of dirt from Derek Jeter's last game at Yankee Stadium.

the weather is supposed to get snowy and windy here soon. my bones are saying it should have already began. but, after watching that documentary yesterday, i don't think i will be complaining about pain that much anymore.

i hope everyone had a great weekend. hopefully you won some money on the Super Bowl. and hopefully this finds you in a warm place with a tall glass of something cold.

be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

it figures

i knew i had a ton of shit to do today, so it figures i wouldn't get hardly any good sleep last night at all. mom couldn't get comfortable in her bed, so she decided to sleep on the couch out by where i've been sleeping. she was sawing down a forest of trees after about 20 minutes. i was trying to watch television. that was fun. i went upstairs, hoping i would fall asleep. 2 hours later, and i was still awake. i came back downstairs to my chair and just said fuck it. it probably took me a good 45 minutes before my body gave up and fell asleep. i got up at 8 this morning, tired as hell. i got the trash picked up and after breakfast, i tried taking it down to the end of the lane. of course, 3 seconds after starting my truck and dropping it in reverse, it shuts off. vapor lock. 20 minutes later, i was taking the trash down. this is surely a sign that today isn't going to go how i want it to. Manchester United made sure of it for me.

thankfully, Daley Blind came to the rescue to get a 1-1 draw between Manchester United and West Ham. honestly, the boys missed a few point blank chances and didn't deserve shit today. they pissed away a great chance to get just 3 points behind second place. oh well. hopefully they play better against Burnley. if they don't, they can fucking kiss the Champions League goodbye.

quickly back to last night, ROH was great once again. Foo Fighters on Austin City Limits was great as well.

here is the rest of my clusterfuck today. team USA plays a soccer friendly against Panama here in a little bit. 1 hour later, the New York Rangers play the Dallas Stars. i'm hoping to be enjoying a few victory beers while watching the Grammy Awards. whenever that is over, i have to figure out how i'm going to watch what i missed on Showtime, HBO, etc. without staying up to 6 in the morning to do it. i really want to see The Jinx tonight on HBO, but i have no clue if i'm going to catch it tonight. that might be a Monday night one for me. i do think i have figured out how to watch Episodes, House of Lies, Shameless, Girls, Togetherness, Last Week Tonight, and Total Divas as long as the Grammy Awards end on time (they never do). needless to say, i'll be playing catch up for most of the early part of this week.

i guess that's what i get for loving music. hopefully, and i just typed hopefully as hard as i fucking could, i will have a DVR next year at this time and this fucking problem never arises again.

the weather here is unseasonably mild. the rain is supposed to start here soon. it is supposedly going to end tomorrow morning as snow. these fuckers haven't been right once yet this winter, so i'll believe it when i see it. but, it was nice to feed the cats today in shorts.

that's all for me today. hopefully you are having a great Sunday. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

a little poetry news and a few other musings...

i finally got my hands on a copy of Open Wide Magazine #25 (ISSN 1746-4390). it was published last year i believe. i have three poems in the issue, "across four lanes of traffic", "after sex talk", and "trying to sneak a peek". also in the issue include work from Debbie Kirk, John Sweet, William Taylor Jr., Nathan Graziano, R.C. Edrington, Luis Cuauhtemoc Berriozabal, Dan Provost, justin.barrett and Glenn W. Cooper just to name a few. you can purchase a copy of the issue here. for back issues of Open Wide, go here http://www.openwidemagazine.co.uk/owmissues.htm.

i watched the Champions League draw today and got a chuckle. i can just hear all the conspiracy theories running around, just like last year, that Manchester United got an easy draw, blah blah blah. same shit was said last year and they couldn't make it out of the group stage. well, Sir Alex has vowed to play all the best guys for all the games this time around. so, if they have learned their lesson well, they should win the group stage pretty damn easy. and they will need to if they want to avoid Barcelona in the next round. i got a bigger chuckle when i saw that Manchester City was placed in the group of death. serves the little blue fuckers right. hopefully they have their asses handed to them repeatedly in the group stage. seeing they are playing 3 other champions, there's a good chance of it happening.

the shock of the day was seeing Iniesta beat out Messi and CR7 to win the best player in Europe. fucking please. there's no doubt he's a great player, but better than the 2 best players in the world. no fucking chance in hell. i can only figure the tipping point was he played for a Spain team that won their 3rd straight major championship. it must have been since Barcelona last year didn't win La Liga or the Champions League. so he wins the award because he happens to play with 10 other great players born in the same country. what a fucking joke.

lastly, tomorrow morning i will wake up to the results of the first fantasy draft of the new NFL season. my fingers will be crossed, hoping for the best. and hoping for a season where my first pick doesn't get injured in the first week, like last year. damn you shitty turf and weak knees.

until we meet again my friends...
