i felt like i did the right thing yesterday by waiting to leave for the hockey game. and for the first 5 minutes of the drive, i was right. and then it started to rain. and rain, and rain some more. it rained all the way to my sister's condo. and then it rained all the way to the arena. thankfully, my sister knows her way around Columbus. we avoided most of the traffic and got to the arena in plenty of time for the game. more on the game in a bit.
it rained for about 1/3 of the drive home last night. and it has rained on and off all day long here. to say i'm a bit gloomy and in pain would be an understatement. though, i did achieve a bit of joy by shooting my load into the middle of my chest earlier today. enjoy that visual as you read the rest of this.
the Blue Jackets lost to Dallas 4-2. i had a pretty good time, mostly because the 2 goals Columbus scored were by the guy on my fantasy team. though, my mood went to shit in the third period as i noticed the scoreboard and what was happening in the Rangers game. more on that in a moment. the next game we go to is on Friday. they are playing Calgary. i'll have fantasy interests on both of the teams that night. i did get to feel like i knew what i was talking about when i was telling my sister about the best players on Dallas. they scored all 4 of the goals.
the Rangers lost to the Islanders 6-3. thank fucking god i didn't watch that shit. Rick Nash scored 2 more goals, so that's really helping my fantasy team. but my goalie is fucking killing me. i know he starts off every season a bit slow... but giving up 6 goals in back to back games is a bit much. of course, after reading the game reports, his defense is doing him no favors. they play again on Thursday. maybe they will get a fucking win.
i watched a bit of The Voice on YouTube today. once again, none of the battles really blew me away. hopefully the good shit comes next week.
we ate at Waffle House last night around midnight. i felt sorry for the black woman working there. the town we live in has hardly any minorities. and the two white cooks weren't saying a fucking word to her. not even boring work chit chat. if i wasn't so fucking hungry i would have whipped out the charm... but the weather is doing me no favors.
i'll be watching a little hockey tonight, maybe some baseball, and eventually American Horror Story. that will get over in time for me to flip over to Foo Fighters week on Letterman.
i got most of the guys i wanted in fantasy football. now, i will have to come up with a plan to beat two opponents that are way better than me. hell, one is still undefeated. i have a feeling i'm going to come up short this week. hopefully my picks are good. i'm on a bit of a hot streak with those.
i'd like to go through my file of unpublished poems tomorrow and figure out what i'm going to send where. i'm hoping to send out some more submissions next week sometime.
that's all for me today. hope the weather is better wherever the fuck you may be. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.
be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.
peace and chicken grease...

frustration
so i flipped over to the Yankees game yesterday and saw that Kuroda was dealing (perfect through 6 innings). then i flip back to see Cano fuck up a double play which gave the Tigers their first run. i had the bad fortune of flipping back the next time to see a blown call at second base. and given that i have watched baseball my entire life, i know how the baseball gods work when an umpire fucks up the third out of an inning. sure enough, the Tigers score 2 more runs and eventually win 3-0. given that the offense is more or less dead, i'm not sure if he would have got the call right it would have meant much. but a little note to baseball, given the technology of today when everyone with any kind of device could see within 30 seconds that the call was wrong, wake the fuck up. if you wonder why the sport is becoming obsolete... god forbid you actually have a playoff game where the calls are correct. who the fuck would want that.
and another note, this one to Nick Swisher, who is hurt that Yankee fans are booing him. newsflash, you fucking suck in the playoffs. you've had 4 years of good to great regular seasons and 4 playoff years of complete fucking ineptitude. if you don't want to play in a place where the second season means everything, enjoy collecting a check in some other town next year.
if the getting out of Yankee Stadium excuse doesn't work for the offense, i'm hoping they just lose the next 2 games and get this fucking tease of a season over with. that way i can decide which minor league hockey team i'm going to follow (thank you NHL, you dumb asses) or god forbid, have to watch the NBA season from start to finish.
as for football, had my worst week of picking games in a long, long time. under 50% is absolutely shitty. i am winning my 3 fantasy football games, but i can sill lose 2 of them. that leaves me with no choice but to pay attention to the game tonight. great, 4 hours of Gruden blowing Peyton Manning. lovely.
now, it's to the outdoors to assess wind damage from yesterday. welcome to a farm with buildings from the 1800's on it.
music today:
Brooke Annibale - Silence Worth Breaking
Allison Ann - The Introduction of Allison Ann
Ivan & Alyosha - The Cabin Sessions

leftovers
just a couple of nuggets that i didn't write about last night as i was busy falling asleep.
i totally enjoyed the 1000th episode of Monday Night Raw. i'm always up for a bit of nostalgia in something that i've watched for 35 of the 36 years i've been on this planet. what i liked the most was the return of the evil CM Punk. seeing him stand over The Rock and John Cena near the end of the episode made me very happy. as i said aloud to no one as i was watching, that's what you call passing the torch. i'm hoping the writers see it the way i do.
if anyone is interested to some links to my poetry that maybe aren't on this blog, please check out http://sites.google.com/site/losersincsite/.
got some decent rain this morning. wasn't so hard that it beat up what's left of the crops but was hard enough to hopefully penetrate the ground. at least that's what i'm hoping.
a hello to my friend in California. i hope you are doing well.
really looking forward to the season finale of Deadliest Catch tonight. one of my favorite shows of all time.
and after that is over, here's hoping the Yankees can make it two in a row. Sweaty Freddy against King Felix, so i'm not counting on much. maybe Ichiro knows some secrets. hopefully.
music today:
Grouplove - Never Trust a Happy Song
Fun. - Some Nights
TV on the Radio - Nine Types of Light
Ben Harper - The Will to Live

wouldn't you know it
so i was writing this blog post in my head last night as i was watching the Yankees fail for something like the millionth time this season with a runner in scoring position. then a double, a walk and a hanging curve and i could simply imagine John Sterling going ape shit on the radio when Tex hit the 3 run homer to tie the game. then, someone commandeered Russell Martin's uniform and got what turned out to be the winning hit and threw out a runner in the top of the 9th with a perfect throw to second base for the final out. how i hope that's the Russell Martin that plays for the entire second half.
i have no clue how much longer the smoke and mirrors approach can last but i will enjoy it for the time being. of course, i kind of want them to hit home runs like this in the playoffs just so i can watch all these baseball "experts" bitch and moan endlessly that that's not how the game was meant to be played.
sweaty Freddy Garcia goes today. fingers are crossed.
in other news
stumbled upon a band yesterday that i really, really like. Delta Rae.
trying to figure out how i can keep this hot streak going with my writing. this is starting to remind me of my mid 20's again. oh, the glorious past. whiskey, strange women, the city of Chicago and wasted potential. guess we'll see if i have learned anything in this life.

music this morning:
Nine Inch Nails - With Teeth
Delta Rae - Live at Lincoln Theater

pre-game music and other ramblings
so, my positive frame of mind lasted for a few hours this morning. better than usual. nothing for me at the post office and my high speed internet decided it wanted to be a diva today. so needless to say, my fuse is a bit short at the moment. trying to lose myself in some tunes so my blood pressure isn't at kill come 8 pm tonight.
pre-game music today includes:
Tom Waits - Mule Variations
Alabama Shakes - Boys & Girls
Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
Beastie Boys - Check Your Head
Disturbed - Asylum
Metallica - Master of Puppets
if the rangers win tonight i will be too drunk to post (hopefully). if they lose, i'll ramble on all night as i hide the bullets.
ok, not really, but the poet in me can't resist such eloquent bullshit.
now a quote from Mr. Hockey
"All hockey players are bilingual. They know English and profanity." - Gordie Howe
until i grace this blog again i leave you with this
