i had no clue what was going on in Boston yesterday as i was typing up my post for this blog. needless to say i've been pretty glued to the news since. i am a news junkie. always have been.
i did try to distract myself somewhat last night by watching The Voice and Monday Night Raw. didn't do much good as i was constantly flipping back and forth. from what i did see, a few surprises on The Voice that i didn't see coming, especially the steal by Blake. as for Raw, anytime it ends with John Cena beaten to a pulp, i'm happy. i'm really looking forward to the show next week in London. that crowd should be epic.
the Rangers and the Yankees both play this evening. considering the Rangers are in complete playoff desperation mode, i'll watch more of that game. i'll sprinkle in a few innings of the Yankees as well as night two of the battle rounds on The Voice.
the poet of the day on my Google+ page is Henry Denander. Henry is a wonderful poet and artist. you can find more on him at his website, www.henrydenander.com. below is the painting he did of me, i believe in 2005
also on my Google+ page is some more photos from this morning. from the farm after a springtime shower. like this one
yes, i know, the grass does need cut. the beauty of living a quarter mile off the road is you can let the grass get a little longer and no one bitches about it.
that's pretty much it for today. i'll be in front of a television for most of the rest of the day. thankfully, there will be some European soccer on this afternoon that will provide a nice distraction for me.
my thoughts and prayers are with everyone who knew anyone affected by the bombing yesterday. i have plenty of friends in that part of the country and i can just imagine what's going through their minds at this time. if any of you need anything, just ask.

hello apathy, welcome aboard
first, a quick flashback to Monday Night Raw. you know you have been watching pro wrestling too long when you're watching the Undertaker make his slow ass walk to the ring for the Paul Bearer memorial and your first thought is this would be a great place for CM Punk to get some heel heat. and when Punk does come out you can't help but think you'd certainly work cheaper than the ass clowns that are writing this currently. i certainly laughed at all the hatred CM Punk got after Monday. i suppose some people still think it's real. or some people just can't give a guy props for doing a great job. people are supposed to hate him. i don't think there's a better heel around these days. as for the rest of the show, other than the great wrestling between Dolph Ziggler and Daniel Bryan, i couldn't help but thank god The Voice comes back soon so i'll have something to flip to when i get bored. and a quick note to the WWE, no matter how hard you try, i couldn't give a shit that The Rock and John Cena are facing each other again.
this weather is slowly driving me nuts. i managed to get home today before a white-out quick snowstorm hit. of course, 10 minutes later and the sun was out. maybe the warmer weather will come sometime. maybe not.
in the middle of doing my laundry, i did a little shopping at Amazon.com. i got my usual madness of music from a slew of genres. always nice when you can get 12 CD's and not pay anything for them.
i was really hoping The New York Rangers had turned the corner. but, after the boring ass defeat last night to Buffalo, i suppose that corner is still far away. i believe their coach summed up the night perfectly in his post game press conference.
i'll be watching the Dayton Flyers tomorrow against Butler. i don't think they have much of a chance. i wouldn't mind being wrong. the whole A10 tournament is pretty wide open. honestly, any of the 12 teams could win it and i wouldn't be completely shocked.
lastly, i did watch the new pope get elected today. i'm not a catholic but i do have a great appreciation for history. it was nice to see a bit of history made today. of course, i suppose time will tell if it actually means anything or not.
i will now go back to folding clothes and wondering if the temps will get above 40 anytime soon.

and then the rain changed to snow
i didn't post anything yesterday as i needed a mental day off. seeing that it was the anniversary of my stepfather's death, yesterday was appropriate. so, back to our regularly scheduled programming...
quick flashback to Monday Night Raw... the match between CM Punk and John Cena was a classic. it should be a match people are talking about for years. i simply think the wrong guy won. hopefully, they have something big in mind for CM Punk at Wrestlemania, but i fear they don't. hopefully, i'm wrong. i urge you if you haven't seen the match, go on YouTube and find it. it's worth it.
as for the New York Rangers last night, the effort was better but i'm a little too old now to believe in moral victories. they don't exist. hopefully the injured players come back soon or this could be a lost season of what could have been. and judging from experience, those seasons fucking suck.
and speaking of suck, the Dayton Flyers play tonight. i guess out of watching them for nearly 37 years, i will do so again tonight. hell, maybe they will shock me and win. thankfully, i wasn't drinking as i was typing that or my screen would be wet as hell right now.
i'd like to thank the person who emailed me yesterday and we have had an actual genuine exchange of emails in the last 2 days. i really do appreciate it. more than you even know.
i haven't seen the sun in the last 2 days. the rain has changed to a wet snow now. no accumulation so far. and not nearly as much rain as they expected, so i don't know if the drainage problems on the farm are solved yet or not. it does look about 10000000000000000000% better though.
here's hoping i will have something positive to talk about tomorrow. i do have a sad poem bouncing around in my mind. so, i do believe a little writing will get done sometime soon.
lastly, i did watch the Real Madrid destruction of Barcelona yesterday. shit, i really hope that is not the Madrid team Manchester United ends up facing in Champions League play.

and now i can breathe again...
some good news to report. when my mother called me this morning after her visit to the doctor and started off with humor, i found it a little weird. was she using it to deflect from bad news or just using it to break the ice? turns out the results from her brain MRI was that they found a brain. not a tumor like both of us had feared. both her and her doctor believe that her headaches and hearing loss in her left ear could very well be due to her father beating her on that side of her head when she was a child. so, my mom will be getting a hearing aid in the next few weeks. my sister wants to bedazzle it. and people think i'm just being silly when i say we put the "fun" in dysfunctional.
always nice when the temps drop nearly 30 degrees in less than 24 hours. blowing snow all day long it seems. no real accumulation, but enough to give the back a few pains.
got a check in the mail i have been waiting for finally, so tomorrow i battle the elements and hit the bank. it doesn't look like it will be too bad out.
other than that, just watching some Champions League soccer and doing the usual farm shit i have to do every few weeks. the beauty of having well water.
big game tonight for the New York Rangers. should be interesting to see how it goes as Brandon Prust makes his return to MSG. a personal favorite of mine, i really hope his emotions get the best of him and he isn't the pest i know he can be.
found some great music today over at NoiseTrade.com. check out the music section for more info.
i did like the fact they introduced a new heavyweight championship belt last night on Monday Night Raw. and i really hope CM Punk wins next week so i won't have to sit through John Cena vs. The Rock again at Wrestlemania. i thought the show was a little better than i expected last night. any show that ends with Cena knocked out at the end will get a thumbs up from me.
since the Dan Patrick Show is going to be reruns for the rest of the week, i believe i might actually get some work done in the mornings coming up. i know tomorrow i really want to tackle the poems that have recently become available again and find the right homes for those. especially since a few of them i haven't even looked at in over a year.
hope everyone is well. peace and chicken grease.

slowly melting away
me or the weather?
the weather for now. felt good enough today to actually venture out in public. a rare occurrence it seems anymore. a trip to the post office and a trip to the bank. had to get the birthday money in before i would be tempted to spend it on needless shit.
i sent out 8 poems today, 3 to The Camel Saloon and 5 to ThornBlog.net. when i hear back from these places i'll be sure to post the responses. hopefully a few will get accepted.
after looking through all the old poems i realized i need to do some more writing. so, i imagine sometime late Wednesday in either furious anger or holy shit drunken merriment, there will be some writing going on. for the curious souls out there, Wednesday night the Dayton Flyers play their biggest rival on the road in a city they haven't beaten them in since Carter was president. one of those streaks i'd like to see end sometime in my lifetime but i'm not certain it will. hence, anger or holy shit...
looking forward to seeing how Monday Night Raw plays out tonight. i totally disagree with taking the title off of CM Punk but i've been watching long enough to keep an open mind to see what happens next. if it leads to The Rock and John Cena facing each other again, at least i will have a spot in the next WrestleMania to take a piss.
hope everyone is good. toying with ideas for more videos. if my practice runs go well, you'll know when new shit is posted. if not, my non-technical ass is trying to figure some shit out while maintaining my manly stubbornness by not asking for help.

M83 - Hurry Up, We're Dreaming
Shovels & Rope - O' Be Joyful
The Lumineers - The Lumineers
Heartless Bastards - Arrow

i always feel better after a few drinks
needless to say i didn't sleep well last night. when people around my own age, or people i've been published with die, it's always a wake up call to me. and i'm one of these fuckers who reflects too much anyway...
after i woke up and had one of my you sat around and watched too much football shits, i finally settled into a Monday. shockingly, i am still leading 2 of my 3 fantasy football matches. i thought for sure that was a mistake as i tried to fall asleep last night.
i'll be flipping around tonight between The Voice, Monday Night Football, and Monday Night Raw. i'll probably pay more attention to wrestling than anything else. i'm really liking that CM Punk has turned evil again and has Paul Heyman at his side. FUN FUN FUN. 2 of the best minds in the business. hopefully the powers that be in the WWE allow them to take all of us on a journey that none of us see coming. plus, any time John Cena loses i'm a happy boy.
had a nice lunch with mother this afternoon. always fun shooting the shit in a sports bar. never gets old.
watched Everton get robbed of 2 goals this afternoon against New Castle. i can just imagine what i would have broken if that would have happened to Manchester United. it wouldn't have been pretty...
music today:
John Lee Hooker - The Best of Friends
Guided By Voices - Vampire on Titus
Matthew Perryman Jones - Land of the Living

leftovers
just a couple of nuggets that i didn't write about last night as i was busy falling asleep.
i totally enjoyed the 1000th episode of Monday Night Raw. i'm always up for a bit of nostalgia in something that i've watched for 35 of the 36 years i've been on this planet. what i liked the most was the return of the evil CM Punk. seeing him stand over The Rock and John Cena near the end of the episode made me very happy. as i said aloud to no one as i was watching, that's what you call passing the torch. i'm hoping the writers see it the way i do.
if anyone is interested to some links to my poetry that maybe aren't on this blog, please check out http://sites.google.com/site/losersincsite/.
got some decent rain this morning. wasn't so hard that it beat up what's left of the crops but was hard enough to hopefully penetrate the ground. at least that's what i'm hoping.
a hello to my friend in California. i hope you are doing well.
really looking forward to the season finale of Deadliest Catch tonight. one of my favorite shows of all time.
and after that is over, here's hoping the Yankees can make it two in a row. Sweaty Freddy against King Felix, so i'm not counting on much. maybe Ichiro knows some secrets. hopefully.
music today:
Grouplove - Never Trust a Happy Song
Fun. - Some Nights

a Tuesday in the blistering sun
Another day in the 90's. Heat index is supposed to hit at least 100 today. There's a rumor that it might rain on Wednesday. I'm not going to believe it until I actually see it.
I'm pretty proud of Phil Hughes. It really looks like he has turned the corner. Only 2 real mistakes last night, only one of them a home run. He's really cut down on his walks this year as well. It always helps when Raul "I may be 40 but i can still hit a 3-1 fastball a country mile" Ibanez hits a grand slam in the bottom of the 8th. Nice 6-3 win last night. Sucks for the Blue Jays that Joey Bats injured his wrist last night. Hopefully it means he'll miss the next 2 games but be back in time to crush the rest of the AL East.
Side note, the Yankees have scored more than 3 runs in 40 straight games. A team record for a single season. That kind of shocked me considering all the great teams in the past. Of course, according to my superstitious ass the streak will end now that I've talked about. CC comes back tonight, so hopefully they won't need a ton of runs in case it does.
My cat Rita Dove made a rare appearance this morning. I haven't seen it in over a week or so. Not sure what it was eating because it looks really good.
Chuckled as I watched Monday Night Raw last night. I'm really hoping the writers are smart enough to make John Cena the first guy to cash in the Money In The Bank contract and lose. As a fan of CM Punk for years now, I'd love this title run to continue for over a year. The 1000th episode is next week, I'm hoping for 3 hours of good memories and some great wrestling. I fear a lack of both as age takes a toll as the last month of stars coming back has shown.
Not exactly sold yet on this Big Brother cast but I'm slowly getting there. Just enough drama and stupidity that I can laugh myself to sleep each night. Now, if there was only a little slutty activity...
music for today:
Of Monsters And Men - My Head Is An Animal
Walk The Moon - Walk The Moon
