that put a wrench into things...

so, i woke up to the sound of my printer in my room suddenly printing something this morning. i thought mom must already be up and she was printing something. and then i put on my glasses and saw my alarm clock blinking 12. i knew that meant the power went out. well, shit. i went and reset the clocks, turned off lights, etc. as i was checking the DirecTV channels, etc., i noticed the internet was out. and that stayed out until 1 this afternoon. you can imagine the wrench that put into things.

i do have my laundry going. second load into the washer. hopefully, i'll get it done before the storms hit tonight. my arthritis is telling me, the storms are to the south of us.

Monday Night Raw was excellent last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be NXT and Hard Knocks.

the Euro 2024 game today is at halftime. Spain is up 2-1 against France.

Copa America tonight is Argentina vs. Canada.

the Yankees play tonight at Tampa.

i should be on here tomorrow after i get the grocery shopping done.

i'll have clothes to fold in a bit, so that is all for me kids.

until tomorrow...

not the morning i was hoping for...

this is one of those mornings where i really could have gone without the punch to the dick. i turned off the Manchester United game when they were down 2-0. they would eventually lose to Manchester City, 6-3. in all honesty, i never expected them to win this game, i was just hoping the gulf between the teams wasn't going to be as large as it really is.

the New Orleans Saints were much better on offense today. the defense played well enough for them to win. but, as usual, two bullshit defensive penalties cost them today as well as two costly fucking turnovers. the Saints had over 100 yards in penalties today. that's not how you win games in this league. the Saints lost to the Vikings, 28-25. what would have been the game tying field goal hit the upright and the crossbar from 61 yards out. fuck me.

the Yankees won yesterday over the Orioles, 8-0. Judge is still at 61. he is a couple points behind now in batting average for the triple crown. the Yankees play their final home game of the regular season today.

Ohio State defeated Rutgers yesterday, 49-10. considering Rutgers got their 10 points from Ohio State turnovers, the game should have been a shutout. Ohio State will actually play on the road next week, first time this season.

i did watch some of the Columbus Crew game last night. what a fucking finish.

here are some more college football highlights from yesterday:

Yvonne Orji: A Whole Me was fucking hilarious last night.

The Caverns Sessions last night had Shooter Jennings on. one of my favorites...

Austin City Limits was amazing last night.

Saturday Night Live was pretty funny last night. i know the show is going to have a much different feel given all the cast changes this season.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Last Week Tonight, Power Book III: Raising Kanan and Nothing Compares.

i should be on here tomorrow after mom's doctor's appointment.

before that, i have to take some mail back and make a deposit at the bank. so, i will be busy right from when i wake up tomorrow.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. i hope your Sunday will be even better.

still going on just 3 hours of sleep...

so, i think my body is almost used to just how fucking crazy my Sunday nights get between sports and all the shows i watch. throw in the Gold Cup final and the Olympics and you can imagine the power nap i took from 6 to 9 this morning and said i'm good to go.

first off, let's start with the Gold Cup. Mexico said this was going to be their revenge for the USA beating them in June in the Nations League final. the USMNT was young as hell last night. they were up against Mexico's "A" team. when Miles Robinson scored in the 117th minute to put the USA up 1-0, i was delirious. when the final whistle blew, i had tears flowing. this is the most proud i have been of this team in almost 20 years. and this gives me so much hope they can actually qualify for the World Cup and win it one time before i die. plus, anytime the USMNT can stick it to Mexico, i am fucking happy.

of course, the other side of the coin, the USWNT lost to Canada, 1-0 for the first time in 20 years. that means this will be the second straight Olympics they won't be playing for a gold medal.

the Yankees swept the Marlins yesterday, 3-1. Anthony Rizzo started the winning rally. he's been simply amazing since the trade. they start a series tonight at home against Baltimore.

i did watch some of the TBT games yesterday. the championship game tomorrow should be good.

Big Brother was good last night.

the season finale of The Chi was good last night.

the season finale of Black Monday was hilarious last night.

the season finale of Flatbush Misdemeanors was crazy last night.

Desus & Mero was fucking funny as hell last night.

The White Lotus was great last night.

Last Week Tonight was brilliant as usual.

Power Book III: Raising Kanan was excellent last night.

the USA women's basketball team defeated France last night, 93-82. hopefully, the men will beat Spain tonight.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.

NBA free agency starts tonight, so i'm expecting some crazy shit as usual.

i do plan on watching the USA men's basketball team tonight against Spain, which should be really good.

mom's scan she had done today didn't take very long. i did get 3 poems written. i typed those up when i got back home. hell, i think the time we were in the drive thru lane at Burger King for mom's frozen Coke took longer than how long her scan went.

i did listen to episode 354 of Notsam Wrestling this morning. you can listen to that by going here:

a big thank you to everyone who checked out my latest published poem:

and then it started to rain...

the New York Yankees lost yesterday to Houston, 4-1. they are now trailing in the ALCS 2-1. Game 4 tonight has already been postponed, so the Yankees are now up against it. that means there will be no off day on Friday. so, the Yankees need to get some innings from their starters or this series will be over quickly.

the USMNT lost to Canada last night, 2-0. it was the first time that Canada had beaten the USA in 34 years. fuck me, it was awful. no urgency, no desire, hell, Canada should have won by 4 or 5. fucking pathetic.

and to make my night even worse, it started to fucking rain like the end of the world was happening. thunder, lightning, wind howling like a motherfucker. good times.

i guess there is something going on between C5 and C6 in my neck. good thing i was telling the nurse this for weeks before she actually decided i should get some x-rays done. so, next month i see an orthopedic doctor to examine my neck. i guess that means the physical therapy i start next week is for my carpal tunnel in my right wrist.

The Voice was very good last night.

Total Divas was pretty funny last night.

The Jim Jefferies Show was fucking hilarious last night.

Mr. Mercedes was awesome last night.

Mayans M.C. was very good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be NXT, AEW, The Masked Singer, American Horror Story, 24/7 College Football and Cake.

i went to the bank today to make a deposit. after that, mom wanted me to get her something at McDonald's. it was kind of weird. the lady running the cash register in the drive thru had the same name as the love of my life when i was 23. and then the lady, who maybe was in her early 20's at best, that handed me the food called me sweetie. i chuckled and wondered what fucking world am i living in.

my arthritis has been fucking with me all day long. it's quite the scene when i'm in the shower and my body starts to radiate from the pain. i know one thing, my death isn't going to be pretty.

i'm going to try to be on here earlier tomorrow, but i truly have no clue when i will be on here. i get the feeling i'll be doing something for mom tomorrow. who knows, just trying to stay in the will.

hope everyone is doing good. until tomorrow kids...

in case of storms tonight...

i wasn't sure what to expect from Manchester United yesterday. by the end of the game, i was so fucking happy, that i truly hope this is a sign of things to come this season. United beat Chelsea 4-0.

the New York Yankees defeated Toronto yesterday 1-0. they play a doubleheader today at home against Baltimore.

WWE SummerSlam was good last night. the highlight for me was Bray Wyatt. his new entrance and character is fucking scary as hell. i love it.

Big Brother was pretty good last night. i'd love for Christie to be evicted this week, though i know it's not going to happen.

City on a Hill was excellent last night. i can't wait for the season finale next week.

Succession was great last night. looks like i'm going to enjoy season 2.

Last Week Tonight was hilarious as usual.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

nothing on the DVR tonight. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw, weather permitting.

we're supposed to have storms tonight. it's the reason why i didn't have my victory drinks last night. i figure i will actually need them tonight.

i hope everyone had a great weekend.

i'm not sure when i will be on here tomorrow. most likely in the early afternoon, i suppose.

i'm off to my massage chair to ice down a shitty back and watch some baseball.

take it easy kids. then, take it again.

and the machine starts again...

i was in one of those moods last night. not depressed, but not happy either. when i was younger, i dreaded trying to write when i felt that way. now, i force myself to. not so much a catharsis but more of a bloodletting. and yes, there was alcohol involved. i wrote and typed up 8 poems last night. that filled up the notebook my sister's friends got me for Christmas. that's roughly 200 pages in under 6 months. that doesn't include all the small notebooks i have filled up as well. figures i would get my most prolific when creativity in this country is being killed off. i really liked the 8 poems i wrote last night. i'm sure they will find their way into my submissions soon.

here is your World Cup update: since the last time i posted, Mexico beat South Korea 2-1. Germany scored at the death to defeat Sweden 2-1. this morning, England beat the shit out of Panama 6-1. right now, Japan is playing Senegal. later, Poland takes on Colombia.

as pleased as i might have been with the New York Rangers in the first round of the NHL Draft, i was equally underwhelmed at what they did during rounds 2-7 yesterday. their player evaluations are radically different from everyone else in the league. the goalie they took in the second round most other scouts had going in the sixth round. it's shit like that that makes me want to scream. out of all the players they drafted yesterday, i think i might have liked one of the picks. either i'm going to be wrong and very happy, or i'll be proven right and fucking miserable that yet another draft has gone by and the Rangers got most of it wrong yet again.

the New York Yankees offense was absent yet again yesterday. they lost 4-0 to Tampa. that's the first time the Yankees have lost back to back games in a month. hopefully, they will avoid the sweep this afternoon.

ROH was really good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be the season finale of Westworld, Succession, Last Week Tonight, The Affair, I'm Dying Up Here and Total Bellas.

i know at some point tomorrow i need to go to the post office and i'm going to have to take mom to see the doctor. she thinks she has pulled a muscle or done something to make her back even worse. good times.

i figure after all that is over, i'll be on here.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. hope your Sunday will be even better.

one of those days where being a human sucks...

it's really fucking sad when i wake up to the news of a mass shooting in this country and i'm not shocked at all. i did get 3 poems out of it. i typed those up right after i wrote them so i wouldn't be thinking about it all day long. and then, right as i was getting ready to start this blog, i got the news that Tom Petty had died. that brought a rush of emotions, not that he was one of my favorites. but, i did have my first lap dance to a Tom Petty song. that's one of those memories that will never be forgotten.

the asshole in me laughed about a mass shooting at a country music concert. the majority of "them" don't believe in gun control of any kind. the majority of "them" voted for Trump. so, for the asshole in me, there's always a silver lining. now, for the bleeding heart in me, these senseless acts of violence have to stop at some point in my lifetime. but, sadly, if the politicians weren't going to do any sensible gun control after the kids got slaughtered at Sandy Hook, it's never going to happen. so, at the heart of it all, we are our own enemies. and like any animal, we will be extinct at some point. and given the advances with robots, that time is coming way sooner than i ever thought.

the New York Yankees lost yesterday 2-1 to Toronto. the Yankees finished the season with a record of 91-71. not bad for a team going through a rebuilding year. they play the Twins tomorrow night in the wild card game. if they win, they will go on to play Cleveland.

The Deuce was excellent last night.

Curb Your Enthusiasm was fucking hilarious last night.

Vice Principals was very funny last night.

Last Week Tonight was brilliant as always.

Ray Donovan was great last night but tough for me to watch. it brought back so many memories of when my stepfather was fighting cancer.

Episodes was pretty good last night. i believe next week is the series finale.

enjoy some music:

i never knew the crack of dawn was so painful

at least i got somewhere near 5 hours of sleep before i woke up at 5:30 this morning. i know mom wanted to leave around 6 or so. what i didn't know was that there was rain in the area. so, to say i was dragging with arthritis gnawing at me would be an understatement. but, we made it to the place on time. the MRI went well. the results should be known by tomorrow.

while in the waiting area, i wrote 8 poems. i typed them up once we got back home. thankfully, i had most of them typed up before it started pouring. i really liked a few of the poems.

the New York Yankees at least scored yesterday. and they even took the lead in the 9th. but, when you overuse your bullpen all season long, it will come back to haunt you at the end. and sure enough... the Yankees lost yesterday 4-3. they will try to avoid the four game sweep later tonight. thankfully, this season will be over soon.

WWE Clash of Champions last night was almost just a longer version of Monday Night Raw. a few of the matches were really good, but nothing jumped out as holy shit, that was great. i'm sure tonight will just be more of the same.

the season finale of Power was fucking great. they have done a fabulous job each season with the finale. i can't wait to see what happens in 2017. the season finale of Ballers was hilarious. The Strain was great as usual last night. Masters of Sex was really good. and finally, Last Week Tonight was brilliant as usual:

i'm trailing in both of my fantasy league games. i really need Drew Brees to have a monster night tonight for me to even really have a chance.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be The Voice, Gotham and The Big Bang Theory. i will be flipping between Monday Night Raw and the New Orleans Saints vs. Atlanta Falcons tonight. and hopefully avoiding the fucking debate completely.

finally, the weather actually is starting to feel like fall. there is actually some crisp to the wind. i was able to finally turn off the air conditioning and open some windows.

if i'm not too exhausted tomorrow, i will be sending out some poems.

i hope everyone had a great weekend.

at least the snow didn't accumulate

i didn't sleep well last night. March Madness isn't as much fun when your team gets knocked out. i did watch some of the games late last night. if the whole tournament is going to be buzzer beaters and nail biters, this will go down as one of those all-time tournaments.

it did snow a little this morning. nothing stuck, so it was more of the snow globe effect than anything. of course, my arthritis didn't find it beautiful outside. i did notice though the ducks are back. we have two ducks that kind of hang out in the back field and the backyards of our house and my uncle's. so, i take it Spring is near.

NJPW was really good last night. next week looks like it will be even better.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Austin City Limits and ROH.

the New York Rangers play this afternoon at San Jose. hopefully they end this west coast trip with a win and 5 of the 6 points possible.

i spent most of this morning catching up on podcasts and interviews and newspaper articles i missed while watching basketball. i really enjoyed Sam Roberts interview with Lisa Ann. i highly recommend that you listen to it:

Beethoven used to mean better things

i go to sleep every night with the radio on. what i listen to depends on whether the teams i follow are winning or not. if they aren't, the music changes until they are. yes, i'm a little fucking weird. but when i woke up to Beethoven this morning, i figured i was in store for a good day. fucking figures i was wrong.

i'll get to the Yankees in a bit...

what a choke job by Adam Scott. bogey the final four holes and lose by one stroke. with Tiger's old caddie. enjoy those nightmares.

the Yankees were in line to finally win a game on this road trip and then Rafael Soriano decided to throw nothing but sliders until he gave up the game tying home run. so, of course they lost in extra innings, the fourth fucking one run loss in a row. back to the old shit of not getting runners over, not getting timely hits, overusing pitchers and putting guys in spots where they can't succeed. what a fucking waste. off to Seattle and hopefully a fucking win.

some creative editing by CBS on Big Brother tonight. i always laugh when they take stuff that happened a week before and try to make people think it all happened in sequence. by the rate this cast is dropping out, the show will be over in mid august.

i'm really enjoying my Sunday night routine of The Newsroom, Weeds and Episodes. hopefully the shows continue to get better as the season goes on. The Newsroom might be one of the better shows i've seen in a long time.

a Tuesday in the blistering sun

Another day in the 90's. Heat index is supposed to hit at least 100 today. There's a rumor that it might rain on Wednesday. I'm not going to believe it until I actually see it.

I'm pretty proud of Phil Hughes. It really looks like he has turned the corner. Only 2 real mistakes last night, only one of them a home run. He's really cut down on his walks this year as well. It always helps when Raul "I may be 40 but i can still hit a 3-1 fastball a country mile" Ibanez hits a grand slam in the bottom of the 8th. Nice 6-3 win last night. Sucks for the Blue Jays that Joey Bats injured his wrist last night. Hopefully it means he'll miss the next 2 games but be back in time to crush the rest of the AL East.

Side note, the Yankees have scored more than 3 runs in 40 straight games. A team record for a single season. That kind of shocked me considering all the great teams in the past. Of course, according to my superstitious ass the streak will end now that I've talked about. CC comes back tonight, so hopefully they won't need a ton of runs in case it does.

My cat Rita Dove made a rare appearance this morning. I haven't seen it in over a week or so. Not sure what it was eating because it looks really good.

Chuckled as I watched Monday Night Raw last night. I'm really hoping the writers are smart enough to make John Cena the first guy to cash in the Money In The Bank contract and lose. As a fan of CM Punk for years now, I'd love this title run to continue for over a year. The 1000th episode is next week, I'm hoping for 3 hours of good memories and some great wrestling. I fear a lack of both as age takes a toll as the last month of stars coming back has shown.

Not exactly sold yet on this Big Brother cast but I'm slowly getting there. Just enough drama and stupidity that I can laugh myself to sleep each night. Now, if there was only a little slutty activity...
