i wish the weather would make up its mind

we had some pretty strong storms roll through here last night. thankfully, my sister had already made the drive back home and none of the shit i put up this weekend got knocked down. sadly, it's back to being fucking cold again.

the New York Rangers lost in OT last night to the fucking Penguins. they wasted 2 goals from Eric Staal in the 3-2 loss. i figure if they end up playing them in the playoffs again, it will be another string of long, long nights.

my fantasy hockey miracle never came and i got routed 8-2. i'm now in the 3rd place game. this will be my worst finish in 5 years, when i finished 6th. i'm not a happy camper.

the storms knocked out the satellite last night for a few minutes. that screwed up my DVR a little. it just meant i had to stay up later to see everything.

Vinyl was great last night. Girls was pretty funny. Togetherness was hilarious. i'm pretty pissed that they are cancelling the show after this season. Shameless was fucking brilliant and should have another holy shit season ending episode next week. Billions was really good last night.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be The Voice and Gotham. i will be watching Monday Night Raw and some shit on WWE Network tonight as this is the start of WrestleMania week.

check out the latest episode of Sam & Cathy:

i got some great FREE music on NoiseTrade yesterday. i'll post the links down in the music section.

thankfully, North Carolina won last night, so my main NCAA bracket is still alive.

that's all for me today. i hope everyone had a great weekend. i guarantee you it was better than mine, as i spent a good portion of it on the toilet. and yes, there will be poems.

be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

too busy trying to climb down from my own cross

my relationship with religion anymore doesn't exist. i think i have reached that stage in life where i've simply gone through too much shit to actually believe a higher power truly loves me. now, maybe that will change or maybe i will just get more bitter with age. i have no clue. i live each day for what it is, nothing more. the future to me at this moment is merely a concept, nothing i can wrap my arms around and embrace as something i can look forward to.

as you might imagine, i was busy writing this morning. the brain is in full flow at the moment. i wrote 3 poems this morning and typed them up as well. 2 of them are holy shit good. once i hear back from the queries i sent out this morning, i will get the next round of submissions ready.

the miracle i needed in fantasy hockey last night didn't happen. so, i'm 99% sure i will lose in the first round of the playoffs for the first time in 5 years later on tonight. good times.

with the Kansas loss last night, i only have 1 team left in my main bracket. come on North Carolina.

ROH was great last night. i really like where they are going at the moment.

the New York Rangers beat Montreal last night 5-2. hopefully they have the good mojo going at the moment as they will play against Pittsburgh tonight. that could be a little preview of the first round of the playoffs as well.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vinyl. Girls, Togetherness, Shameless and Billions.

i will probably watch some of the college basketball games tonight while watching the hockey game.

we ordered a couple pizzas last night and of course got the wrong order. the place that my sister likes is too far away to go back, so we just ate it. i'm paying for all the green olives this morning. good times.

i guess my love for electronic music is now full blown with my Soundcloud account. i've really come across some interesting people in just a few days.

i might air out the house today while everyone is next door. it's supposed to be really nice.

that's all for me kids. i hope your Easter Sunday is better than your Saturday was.

at least the weekend looks sunny

i think i royally pissed off the squirrels by moving all the bird feeders. mom laughed with glee when one of them went up to the hot pepper suet and started to nibble. they HATE that shit. that certainly put a smile on my face.

it was actually nice enough this afternoon that i finally got around to putting out the Spring lawn art. if you ever see this place, it's like a house of whimsy and apathy rolled into a cul-de-sac. i'm sure the neighbors hate it. good.

NJPW was amazing last night. the match between Kyle O'Reilly and Kushida was a 30 minute instant classic. awesome, awesome, fucking awesome.

VICE last night was very good. i made mom watch it this morning. i like to think of that as doing my part by educating the elders. i absolutely hate fucking ignorance and will not tolerate anyone around me not having the basic understanding of the important shit, like all the shit they won't tell you on the evening news.

unfortunately, i did watch the USA get embarrassed by Guatemala last night, 2-0. of course, if you're going to play 6 out of the starting 11 out of position, you should fucking lose.
i believe this picture says it all:

enjoy some music kids:

on the DVR tonight will be ROH.

my sister made it down here this afternoon. i figure since she's here, we'll be having her favorite pizza tonight. mom started cleaning this morning and asked me to vacuum the house. i laughed, figured we had to get the place ready for the princess.

the New York Rangers play at Montreal tonight. hopefully they fucking destroy them.

i will probably watch the Elite 8 tonight as well. i still have 3 of my final 4 teams alive in the tournament.

my back is killing me today. i believe i will be in the massage chair with some ice for the rest of today. good times.

that's all for me kids. i hope everyone has a great Saturday. call if you need bail money.

finally got out of the house

mom and i knew it was going to be a clusterfuck going shopping on good Friday, but so be it. we were out for over 4 hours. she was beyond tired and my feet were killing me. but, we got a ton of shit we needed. after we got gas and went to lunch, we hit up Menards. we haven't been in a few weeks so i definitely needed to get some shit for the birds. i got some different feeders that will hopefully piss of the squirrels. but, they didn't have the suet i needed. so, we went to Meijer to find that. thankfully, they had some. mom found some shit she wanted to get for Easter that was on sale. that made her happy. after that, we hit the grocery store. amazingly, we must have hit at the exact right time as we were able to just about get everything we needed and be out of there in a little over 60 minutes. that included standing in line to get pills. that gave me enough time to actually get some shit done outside before the sun went down once we got back home. hopefully, the bamboo wind chimes will make enough noise to drive the neighborhood nuts. all in all, a tiring but well worth it kind of day.

WWE Smackdown was very good last night. i'm really liking how WrestleMania is shaping up this year. it should be a good one.

the season finale of Baskets had a little bit of everything in it. the ending reminded me of what i wanted to do in my teens. just hop a damn train and see where i ended up. i guess i still have time to do that.

i got 3 of the 4 college basketball games right last night. i guess that makes up for my fantasy hockey team shitting the bed. how i come back from the deficit i am in in just 3 days is beyond me. well, i guess that would stop my streak of finishing in 2nd place for the last 4 years.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be NJPW and VICE.

my sister won't be down until tomorrow. i guess work is keeping her longer than she expected. well, at least i know what i'll be listening to her bitch about all weekend.

i got done outside just in time to see the USA U-23 squad get a 1-1 draw on the road with Colombia in Olympic qualifying. that road goal should be HUGE for the second leg down in Texas.

i will be watching the USA take on Guatemala tonight in World Cup Qualifying. hopefully they feel like getting a road win tonight.

i have no clue when i'll be on here tomorrow. i'm guessing late morning/early afternoon, but i have no clue if any "family" shit is planned for this weekend.

for those of you celebrating Good Friday and Easter and all that, enjoy. for the rest of us, i hope you get some good candy.

here we go again

i just got the news that Garry Shandling has died. i never like it when the people that have made you laugh pass on. and i mean really laugh. The Larry Sanders Show was years ahead of its time. that show made me laugh so damn hard at times... rest in peace Garry, you've earned it.
http://www.nytimes.com/2016/03/25/arts/television/garry-shandling-dies.html?_r=0

the rain that i have been feeling in my bones for the last 24 hours or so finally arrived this afternoon. throw in some winds gusting to 40 or 50 m.p.h. and you can imagine the afternoon here. good times.

for shits and giggles, i started up a Soundcloud account today. i figure at some point i might start posting audio of my poems or rants or whatever. so, if any of you are on it, please add me. and if you want to check out my page, you can find it here: https://soundcloud.com/j-j-campbell

Lucha Underground was truly fucking amazing last night. Aztec Warfare II will probably stay on my DVR for years. it truly was an incredible hour that had holy shit moment after holy shit moment.

NXT was really good last night as well. Finn Balor vs. Rich Swann was really good. and the main event between Emma and Asuka was good as well.

the New York Rangers got some puck luck last night and caught a slumping Boston team at the right time. the Rangers won 5-2. that was a tasty victory beer after that one. the Rangers are off to the weekend where they play both days.

enjoy some music kids:

now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be WWE Smackdown and the season finale of Baskets.

the NCAA tournament starts back up tonight so i'll probably be flipping between some college basketball games most of the evening.

i think my sister is coming down tomorrow night for the weekend. hopefully i start to feel better by then.

it feels like i have been on this damn computer all day long.

i might do a little poetry work this weekend and get a few submissions ready for either late March or early April.

i also know that mom and i need to go shopping as she wants to get stuff for Easter and i am running low on birdseed. good times. at least the fucking rain should be out of here by tonight. hopefully.

that's all for me kids.

at least the snow didn't accumulate

i didn't sleep well last night. March Madness isn't as much fun when your team gets knocked out. i did watch some of the games late last night. if the whole tournament is going to be buzzer beaters and nail biters, this will go down as one of those all-time tournaments.

it did snow a little this morning. nothing stuck, so it was more of the snow globe effect than anything. of course, my arthritis didn't find it beautiful outside. i did notice though the ducks are back. we have two ducks that kind of hang out in the back field and the backyards of our house and my uncle's. so, i take it Spring is near.

NJPW was really good last night. next week looks like it will be even better.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Austin City Limits and ROH.

the New York Rangers play this afternoon at San Jose. hopefully they end this west coast trip with a win and 5 of the 6 points possible.

i spent most of this morning catching up on podcasts and interviews and newspaper articles i missed while watching basketball. i really enjoyed Sam Roberts interview with Lisa Ann. i highly recommend that you listen to it:

not how i wanted the weekend to start

first off today... i want to ask the 3 or 4 of you lonely souls that read this blog everyday, are you having problems accessing it? i haven't been able to see what has posted for the last 3 days and Blogger hasn't explained to me why. the page has crashed each time i have tried. has this happened to any of you? if so, please email me and let me know. i will move this blog in a heartbeat if i have to. of course, that means new business cards, etc. etc. so i really hope it isn't fucking with any of you. and now, back to your regularly scheduled programming...

the Dayton Flyers got off to a good start today. sadly, it didn't stay that way for long. they were timid against Syracuse and you are never going to win at anything EVER when you are timid. they were only down by 2 at halftime and that was where i stopped watching. i had to drive mom to her physical therapy appointment. on the way down, i listened on the radio. at various points, i had to change the channel as it was simply too painful to listen to. Dayton went forever in the second half without scoring. i believe i saw somewhere that they missed 14 dunks and layups today. considering they lost 70-51, it should be a game that haunts them for some time. the team only loses a couple of players and will have a strong senior class for next season. next season will hopefully be one to remember.

while in the waiting room today, i wrote 4 more poems. that brings my March total to 35. i typed these 4 up when we got back home. all 4 of them are great. i really like them.

Baskets last night was brilliant. i can't believe it's already time for the season finale next week.

i enjoyed WWE Smackdown last night. Dean Ambrose is turning into the modern day Dusty Rhodes. and i will never turn down the chance to watch Kevin Owens take on AJ Styles. plus, a heel Chris Jericho is the best Chris Jericho.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be NJPW.

with Dayton now out of the tournament and Michigan State losing today, my bracket might as well be set on fucking fire.

speaking of something that should be set on fire, the New York Rangers had a 3-1 lead on the Kings last night and for some fucking reason, decided to go into turtle mode. if you have been following this blog for any length of time, you probably know what the fuck happened next. the Kings won in OT, 4-3. that loss pissed me off so fucking much i was up for the next 3 hours mumbling to myself instead of sleeping.

and here's the cherry on top of all of this, there's a chance of fucking SNOW tomorrow. just fucking perfect.

i hope everyone has a great weekend. call if you need bail money. and i know you just read that and said, i don't have his fucking number. all you have to do is ask.

so this is what ecstasy is like...

as you can tell from that video, my day has been pretty fucking great...

Dayton beats Ohio State 60-59. my brackets are still perfect and a ton of fuckers around the country have thrown theirs in the trash. i love it.

on top of that, Manchester United got a HUGE hat trick from RVP yesterday to come all the way back to advance in the Champions League. that probably saves Moyes' job, or his life. either way, a huge fucking win.

the 2 games i went to last night to finish out the First Four were good. Texas Southern won the battle of the bands but Cal Poly won the game 81-69. just got to love a team with a losing record advancing in the tournament. they will play Wichita St. tomorrow. in the nightcap, Iowa pissed away a lead they had for nearly 35 minutes of the game. Tennessee takes the lead late and Iowa sends it into overtime. in OT, Tennessee did everything right and Iowa either ran out of gas or thought the overtime was going to start 10 minutes later than it did. Tennessee wins 78-65. they will next play UMass.

but since the game went late, my plans got altered, just a little. i did have dinner at Waffle House which proves i will eat anything after not eating anything for 11 hours. made it back home a little after 1, so i missed a little of Legit. i did see all of Ali G and most of Duck Dynasty before i passed out in the chair. the plan was to check all my emails and do a couple other things and then go to sleep in my bed. i woke up at 7 this morning, wondering why the fuck my shoes were still on. i just love the times when the days just blend all together.

so far the first day of spring here has been good. a little cool, but dry. of course, there's a chance of rain or SNOW the next couple of days. welcome to spring in Ohio.

today is the anniversary of the death of my grandfather. it's actually the first death i remember. i was 4 when he died in 1980.

got all the "new" cats named. Cookie, Spiderman, Ryan Giggs, Boomer, Alfred, Batman, Robin, and Kris Kristofferson. made sure to write them down to help mom out. not like she'll actually use them or something, more of a just in case scenario.

that pretty much is all for me. back to the basketball. i'll be on here tomorrow sometime. i believe my mother and i are going out to watch some games in a bar as both of our doctor appointments for tomorrow got cancelled.

hope this finds everyone well, enjoying some good wine, some better words, or a woman of the evening at a fair price. or for you women that actually read this, a man. or a woman, i have my dreams...

be well bitches...

will spring ever arrive?

so, we didn't get the 7-10 inches of snow they thought we would get over the last 24 hours or so. i believe we got around 4 inches, with a few drifts out here on the farm around 5 inches. it's a pretty wet and heavy snow, not much fun for my bad back. but, got the shoveling done, got the cats fed. now, just got to get my lazy ass down to the end of the lane to pick up the trash cans and get into town to get the mail. not sure if either are actually going to happen or not. if they do, it will be before dark.

watched 2 glorious basketball games yesterday at UD Arena. might be the best doubleheader of basketball i've gone to in years. first game was Ohio State vs. Iowa State. a real back and forth affair that saw a little of everything. missed free throws, big time dunks, a string of 3's to get a team back in the game, a few blown calls, and to top everything off, a game winning 3 from a guy who couldn't hit the broadside of a barn if you gave him 30 chances to do it. Ohio State wins by 3.

next up was Indiana vs. Temple. i feel bad for the players from Temple. they had the lead for nearly all of the 40 minutes in this game. Indiana took the lead for good with just over a minute to go. it wasn't a pretty game but the intensity of the crowd certainly made it memorable. Indiana wins by 6.

hats off to all the fan bases for making the 10 games i saw over the last few days really fun. as a guy behind me said yesterday, the hatred flowing in the arena was spectacular. especially once all the Ohio State fans started rooting for Temple to beat Indiana. out of all the fan bases, Indiana had more fans than anyone. kudos to Iowa State's fans though, even with the threat of a huge snowstorm, i don't think any of them left early.

mom and i got home with a little pizza just before the storm started to really hit. pretty damn good timing as just a few hours later it was pretty close to a whiteout. after some pizza, i settled down to watch the New York Rangers. sadly, another must win that ended in a shootout loss. time is starting to run short on this season. hopefully they can find something other than inconsistency to be consistent with.

big game tomorrow in World Cup Qualifying for team USA at Mexico. if they could come out of it with a draw, i would over the moon happy. a win would be so mind boggling that i'm not even allowing myself to think it's possible.

also tomorrow i get to go to the doctor's office and get more blood drawn. i guess they finally got around to reading my lab report from awhile back. fun fun fun.

not exactly sure what the fuck the New York Yankees are doing trading for Vernon Wells. i don't think he's had much left in the gas tank for the last few years. he's simply sticking around because he's making a ridiculous amount of money. even at my most optimistic i would think this move is borderline insane. the season starts soon enough. maybe i'll be wrong and he'll rediscover some power and decent play. hopefully.

in fantasy sports news, i won last week in hockey 8-2. still going strong in 3rd place in the league. as for the NCAA brackets, got 9 teams right in the Sweet 16. that's basically one step above pathetic. i do have the 2 teams i picked to play in the finals still alive. but, those are the only teams i have left for the Final 4 as well. basically, if i somehow finish this March Madness with a winning record, it will be a minor miracle.

i'm really looking forward to the return of The Voice tonight. should be interesting flipping between that, Monday Night Raw, and whatever hockey game i feel like watching.

hope everyone is well. hope the weather where you are isn't the cold, sloppy fucking mess it is here. until we meet again.

let the madness begin

another damp, dreary day here on the farm. had some freezing rain overnight. no down power lines or anything, but it certainly didn't do any favors for my back. i always love waking up stiff as a corpse.

found out last night the teams coming to Dayton for the NCAA tournament. i was half right in my guess. Indiana and Ohio State are the big teams. i suppose i could throw Notre Dame and NC St. in that mix as well. here are the 10 games i will be seeing in person this week:

Tuesday:
North Carolina A&T vs. Liberty
Middle Tennessee St. vs. St. Mary's

Wednesday:
LIU-Brooklyn vs. James Madison University
Boise St. vs. La Salle

Friday:
Indiana vs. LIU-Brooklyn/JMU winner
NC State vs. Temple
Ohio State vs. Iona
Notre Dame vs. Iowa State

Sunday:
Indiana (most likely) vs. NC St./Temple winner
Ohio St/Iona winner vs. ND/Iowa St. winner

the thought of Ohio State playing Notre Dame on Palm Sunday has me thinking of how much money the tickets could be scalped for. also, thought it was a little cruel for the outgoing Xavier AD to put 2 A10 schools here while the Dayton Flyers season is done. of course, Xavier isn't playing in the postseason either.

filled out a few brackets. a few less than last year. my main bracket has Louisville winning it all. i think i filled out about 15 or so brackets, plus a few round by round ones as well. my fingers are crossed. i'd really like to win something this year. anything would be nice.

spent a little time today thinking of names for the new cats. got a few good ones in mind. the key will be what ones i can remember. plus, so many of these little fuckers look alike, it probably doesn't matter what i name them. i'll probably call them the wrong name anyway.

i am going to try to weave some poetry submissions around the basketball games this week. not sure how i'm going to do that, seeing that a few have to be sent via the post office. but, i enjoy the chaos of running around at times. it would help if the sun or some heat would make a surprise appearance this week. neither are expected for some time.

the New York Rangers play tonight. hopefully, i won't have many reasons to stop watching them tonight. at least until Monday Night Raw starts. if their past few games are any indication, i'll be grumpy sometime way before 8 pm.

time to pinch myself

so, i sat down last night to watch the Dayton Flyers. typical first half. up and down play, allowing the opposing team to go on a 10-0 run, too many turnovers, etc, etc. amazingly, in the second half, the team i thought they were going to be all season showed up. made 9 of their first 10 shots, played great defense, forcing the other team into turnovers. made their free throws, won the rebound battle and literally drove the other team fucking nuts. and mind you, this was on the road. their first road win in the conference this season. and honestly, winning by 21 only gets better when you get to see a posterizing dunk like this one

that dunk was top play #6 on Sportscenter last night on ESPN. hopefully this is the start of a winning streak that just might save their season. next game is at home on Saturday. another must win.

i wrote 3 poems last night and typed them up earlier today. i think one of them may be the best thing i've written in some time. i suppose time will tell on that one. they will probably be sent out sometime in the next few weeks. as March Madness approaches, i have roughly 10 basketball games i will be seeing in person in a 6 day stretch. after that chaos, i should have plenty of time to get back to the poems.

the snow has melted and it's just another dreary day out here on the farm. although it's amazing what an unexpected victory beer and a good poem does for my disposition. i completely understand why i'm a loner. i have no doubt it actually makes the world a better place.

an oh by the way news flash, my poem "many more miles down this road" appears on page 19 in Potters Wheel Anthology Vol. 1.

hopefully my good mood continues tonight as the New York Rangers play another home game. they are getting some injured players back i believe, so maybe it will. i had another injury on my fantasy hockey team, unexpected of course, but shockingly, i am ok with the player i got to replace him with.

i just know this positive vibe can't last forever. just hoping to stay on the wave as long as i can.
