not what i was expecting...

so, i got to the Toyota dealership on time, amazingly. i'm not a morning person anymore. after about 45 minutes, they told me what was up. the check engine light was not about the hose. i guess the thermostat is shot. and a speed censor needs replaced. they didn't have all the parts there, of course. so, at first they wanted me to just leave it and they'd get me a rental, etc. but, i wasn't interested in that since my back is being an asshole these days. so, i get to take the Highlander back on November 15th and they will fix it then. all in all, it should be (hopefully) less than $700 for everything. i already paid over $150 of that today. so, that was my morning.

i hope everyone has voted. if you have voted for the criminal, i'm not really interested in your thoughts or opinions. trust me, i do understand voting for the lesser of two evils. and sure, if i was a billionaire, i probably wouldn't want to pay taxes. but i'm not, and i vote accordingly. plus, given my years of history studying Russian propaganda, etc, it is real simple to pick up on it in the political ads, especially on the right. it is always about fear and a thinly veiled message of hate and discord. sadly, Ohio is so far to the fucking right now, there is no damn reason to watch election results tonight. i can already tell you what will happen. Trump will declare himself the winner tonight and warn that if the results change by morning, which they will, the fix is in and it was rigged. and then we get the fucking circus again, except he won't be doing this from the oval office this time. and honestly, he told everyone the plan the other day when he said he never should have left in 2020. what the fuck do you think he is planning this time? i honestly thought we fought a fucking revolution so we wouldn't have kings and queens here. or maybe the history i learned isn't what is taught these days.

ok, enough fucking politics...

The Voice was very good last night.

What We Do in the Shadows was fucking insane last night.

Monday Night Raw was excellent last night.

the Dayton Flyers won last night at home, 87-57, over St. Francis (PA)

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

nothing on the DVR tonight.

i will probably watch some college football and hockey tonight.

today was the NFL trade deadline. the New Orleans Saints made probably the biggest trade of the day:

talking myself to sleep...

so, i tried the weed gummy again last night. no luck. i talked myself to sleep a little after 4 in the morning. i woke up at 9. close to 5 hours isn't exactly what i was hoping for. oh well.

Ohio State won last night at Michigan State, 38-7.

i did watch a good amount of college football yesterday.

the Yankees lost yesterday at home to the Pirates, 9-4. since Cleveland lost again yesterday, the Yankees have the #1 seed in the American League playoffs.

Saturday Night Live had a few funny skits last night.

Austin City Limits was excellent last night.

AEW Collision was ok last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Big Brother, season finale of Industry, The Penguin, Last Week Tonight and Power Book II: Ghost.

Manchester United is playing Tottenham at home right now. of course, United is already down 1-0. joy.

the New Orleans Saints play at Atlanta today. the Saints are really injured coming into this game. so, i hope they find a way to get a victory.

i'm sure i will watch plenty of the NFL, MLB and soccer today. shit, probably NASCAR as well.

i will be on here tomorrow after i get back from my rescheduled doctor's appointment.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. i hope your Sunday will be even better.

and now more of the haze...

i guess the smoke from the Canadian wildfires is back around for us. joy. mom wanted to make French Toast this morning to use up the rest of this French bread i got at Kroger. it was really good. plus, we got 3 different meals out of this French bread. i think that was good use of $1.

the New York Yankees won last night at Colorado, 6-3. hopefully, they will win the series this afternoon.

AEW Collision and AEW Battle of the Belts 7 were both good last night.

i did watch some of the MLS last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be The Righteous Gemstones.

the Gold Cup final is tonight between Mexico and Panama. i might watch some of that, maybe.

i did see that ETH stripped Harry Maguire of the captaincy today. hopefully, he will be on a different team this upcoming season.

i'm hoping to write some poems this afternoon.

otherwise, i am hoping for a quiet, relaxing day. (i know, i'm laughing as well)

mom has physical therapy at noon tomorrow and then an appointment to get the battery on her phone changed after that. so, i'm guessing i will be on here in the late afternoon tomorrow.

i did watch some of the Wimbledon men's final this morning. of course, i had a $2 bet on the wrong person.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. i hope your Sunday will be even better.

breakfast at noon...

so, there was a bunch of shit that kept me up last night... i didn't fall asleep until 5 this morning. managed to finally get out of bed a little after 11. just enough rain and moisture last night that my arthritis was having a field trip. i hate eating breakfast at noon. it just drives home the fact i am already way behind on everything i need to do. i think that is what living 18 years on a farm taught me. there is always something to fucking do. and time waits for no one.

the New Orleans Saints won yesterday at Philadelphia, 20-10. of course, in the grand scheme of things it meant nothing as they were later eliminated from making the playoffs. oh well, at least they made the last week of the season interesting for the NFC. the Eagles still haven't clinched the top seed yet.

the New York Rangers won yesterday at Florida, 5-3. they play tomorrow at home against Carolina.

George & Tammy was really good last night. the season finale is next week.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Monday Night Raw.

so, the betting yesterday didn't go so well for me. my 49ers parlay almost hit, but the Raiders ended up tying the game near the end, which made it impossible for the 49ers to win by more than 6.5 points. i then took a flyer on a free bet on the Buffalo Sabres. they lost to Ottawa, 3-1. so, in my final bets of the night, i took an easy gamble on the Bengals tonight that they won't be shutout. and i felt a little frisky so i took Brentford to beat Liverpool today. and HOLY SHIT, they defeated them 3-1. i took Brentford at +450, so my free $25 bet paid out $112.50. so, i feel much better now.

i did listen to episode 428 of Notsam Wrestling today. you can hear that by going here:

team USA plays Germany today at the World Juniors. hopefully the boys will win and advance.

i do have the Winter Classic on right now. Bruins vs. Penguins from Fenway Park.

the New York Knicks play today at home against Phoenix.

here are your NBA highlights from yesterday:

i'm sure i will watch some college football games at some point today. and i will probably watch some of the game tonight between the Bills and Bengals.

not sure when i will be on here tomorrow. i know at some point i will probably be going to the bank and probably Rite Aid to pick up a prescription. at least there shouldn't be the clusterfuck with my health insurance this year.

i hope everyone had a great weekend and a great start to 2023.

a crack of thunder that sounded like a bomb...

i believe it was around 3:45 in the morning. i had just got into bed and was trying to find a comfortable spot. i saw a flash of lightning through my blinds and the crack of thunder sounded like a fucking bomb going off. it was like that for the next 30 minutes or so. i think i finally fell asleep around 5 in the morning. joy. i was up at 8:30 and on my way to make some coffee. i figured it was a good thing i had 3 drinks last night. that was the only way i got any sleep at all.

the New York Yankees won both games against Baltimore yesterday, 8-5 in Game 1 and 11-8 in Game 2. weather permitting, they play Baltimore again tonight.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night. i love that Sasha Banks is back. and given that she got into it last night with Becky Lynch, i can't fucking wait for that feud to explode.

enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Smackdown, Deadliest Catch, Miz & Mrs. and Hard Knocks. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on WWE Network.

it's been really cloudy and muggy all fucking day here. i did catch a decent nap earlier when i was icing down my back.

hello to 2019

so, we ended 2018 with 2.6 inches of rain. joy. the wind was so bad last night, i could hear shit blowing up against the new storm door mom put on the front door. i guess our outdoor thermometer finally kicked the bucket. the wind blew it right off the house.

thankfully, it's not as bad so far today, just sort of gloomy.

so, since Google+ and Google Hangouts are going to go away sometime in 2019, i figured i needed to find a new home. so, you can now find me here: https://mewe.com/i/jjcampbell

i also started up an Instagram account, but i'm not going to post on it until i get a cellphone.

that's the first wave of changes for 2019. there will be others.

the New York Rangers won last night, 2-1 against the Blues. The King absolutely stood on his head last night. that was the only reason the boys won.

team USA defeated Finland last night, 4-1 at the World Juniors. the win gives the USA second place in the group, which means they will play the Czechs in the quarterfinals. Russia defeated Canada yesterday, 2-1. that's why i was really happy with the USA winning last night. they avoid playing Canada until later in the tournament, if at all. the quarterfinals will be played tomorrow. Switzerland vs. Sweden, Finland vs. Canada, Czech Republic vs. USA and Russia vs. Slovakia. all winners advance to the medal rounds.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night, at least what i saw of it.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Smackdown.

i do plan on watching some of the Winter Classic today. Boston is taking on Chicago at Notre Dame. i always love the look of the outdoor hockey games.

Ohio State plays Washington today in the Rose Bowl. it will be Urban Meyer's last game as head coach. that's why i can't even imagine Ohio State losing this game.

i'm sure i'll probably watch some other college football games today as well.

i'll probably be on here tomorrow before Manchester United plays in the afternoon. i don't think that game is on television tomorrow.

i hope everyone had a good time last night. i hope your 2019 is off to a great start.

a ray of light in a sea of darkness...

i know right from wrong. i am a good person deep within, no matter what the poems happen to say. i never wanted to be an angel to anyone, but a good deed can be misread by any soul. i was brushing my teeth today and the nerves in my left shoulder started to fire. deep down, i think my central nervous system is starting a revolution. and being the stubborn creature i am, i'll drink it away and just accept the consequences. my mother drilled into my head when i was a child, choices and consequences. she was horrified when i accepted the consequences of anything that might kill me. i'm 42, holding on, and still waiting to cross the final line. there's a woman in Rome that is stealing my heart. given this tragedy i am living, i'll die on the flight over. none of this is supposed to make sense. that's the only way i am able to get a measly 4 hours of sleep a day. rinse and repeat. crisis and chaos be damned. the thought that someone actually wants to hold me is what keeps me from going to a tall building and testing gravity. of course, that someone is 6 hours ahead of me in time and lord knows, i am not allowed such feelings at this point of my life. society says i should be defeated, lost, left to those in the small circles of the small press. this is what happens when you know you are mentally ill but won't accept any pills to live a sanitized life. sabotage is my middle name. if you knew how much evil i suppress each day. it's like swallowing a world of shit with each breath. joy is being pulled in a thousand directions by just one soul. a soul that can only accept any help on her terms and her terms alone. i think i heard my first blues song when i was 5 years old. being sexually abused at 4, i was able to understand the pain way too early in my life. that's not a good recipe to have friends or fall in love. Otis Redding plays me to sleep each night. a lonely saxophone cries in the distance. somewhere Kerouac and Charlie Parker ask me to cook up a shot for them. glamour is dying with a little bit of style. my dreams tell me all i need to know. none of it will ever happen. any of us will be lucky to die indoors. i refuse to have a pet. i know what they do to dead bodies.

here is your World Cup update:
Portugal defeated Morocco 1-0. actually CR7 defeated them as Portugal sat back for most of the game. Uruguay won 1-0 over Saudi Arabia. that puts Uruguay and Russia through to the knockout round. Spain defeated Iran 1-0, although Spain did their best to shit that lead away for most of the second half. tomorrow, the games are Denmark vs. Australia, France vs. Peru and Argentina vs. Croatia.

the New York Yankees won last night against Seattle, 7-2. they got some great pitching (only gave up 2 hits) and the Yankees hit 4 home runs last night. that's a good recipe to win most games. hopefully, they will win again tonight.

Smackdown was really good last night. thank god they are finally giving Rusev a push.

205 Live was excellent last night.

Deadliest Catch was pretty good last night.

The Jim Jefferies Show was hilarious last night.

enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight and Lucha Underground. i'll watch NXT sometime tonight on WWE Network.

mom paid me today so i made a nice run to the bank this afternoon. and since the broadsides arrived today, i made a trip to the post office as well. and i got back in time for the third World Cup game.

i have no clue when i'll be on here tomorrow. as you can tell from the first part of this blog, there are some poems swimming around these parts.

that's all for me kids.

the calm before the storm...

i was having a pretty fucking good day until Manchester United decided to take a big shit on it. more on that later.

i went to the bank and made a really nice deposit, mostly because mom realized she hadn't paid in over a month. from there, i went to the drugstore to look for a few things. they were overpriced on most things, even with a damn sale. from there, it was on to Dollar General. i live in a town with 2 different dollar stores. both of them are way better than they should be. i was able to get what mom needed plus get a reasonably priced toy for the Toys for Tots collection at the Dayton Flyers game this Saturday. i figure a Darth Vader toy for $3.50 does it for me.

once i got back home, i wrote 5 poems. i typed them up a little later and i really like them. i'm hopefully going to send out some more poems before the month ends.

then i decided to get my damn Christmas shopping done. if everything gets shipped as planned, i'll have everything here by the first week of December. and once mom pays me for the two things i bought that she's going in on, i would have bought 16 things for about $50. thank god for Amazon gift cards. that made up for about $175 of the cost.

now, on to Manchester United. all they needed today was a fucking draw at Basel and they would advance out of the group stage of the Champions League. they had chances galore in the first half. they hit a couple posts, missed some point blank chances, etc, etc. and then the second half happened. Basel outplayed them by a fucking mile. and sure enough, they scored in the 89th minute to win 1-0. now United is still up by 3 points in the group and will likely advance. but i would have loved to get it out of the fucking way today. now it won't happen until early December. great.

Smackdown was pretty good last night. 3 more women from NXT showed up. i love that they called Ruby Riot up. she was one of my favorites on the indies when she was known as Heidi Lovelace. and if they allow Sarah Logan to be just a little like Crazy Mary Dobson as she was known in the indies, i will be a happy camper.

205 Live was pretty good as well last night.

The Voice was ok last night. i didn't like team Jennifer's performance at all. and i really couldn't stand who got sent home last night. America's racism shines through once again.

the season finale of The Jim Jefferies show was fantastic last night. i can't wait for them to come back in 2018.

Drop the Mic was really fucking good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight and A Saturday Night Live Thanksgiving Special. i'll watch NXT sometime tonight on WWE Network.

the New York Rangers play tonight at Carolina. they will be without their captain as he is injured. i'll be really interested to see how the defense plays without him.

my sister is coming down for the holiday, at least part of it. mom is in cooking mode at the moment, which is rare anymore.

i will probably be on here in the morning tomorrow. at least before the football games start.

i now have to finish vacuuming the house. mom only did the part she wanted to do. joy.

hello anger, it's me...

mix in arthritis with frustration and the inability of my fingers to hold a fucking computer mouse correctly anymore and you can understand why being a poet is some days as much of a fucking curse as it is a damn blessing. sending out the poems this morning was an adventure to say the least.

i sent out 12 poems, 2 to Tuck Magazine and 5 each to Easy Street and Synchronized Chaos (already accepted by the way). when i hear back from Michael and Cami, i'll pass on the verdicts.

i haven't typed up the poem i wrote yesterday. i'm hoping there are a few more coming. considering the pain i feel when typing, unless i'm drinking heavily, i'm not going to just type up one poem.

the New York Yankees left a small village on base yesterday, losing to Toronto 4-2. CC only pitched 3 innings because of a bad knee. that's just what this team needs... more injuries. hopefully they will get a win tonight. they are now 4 games behind Boston in the division.

Smackdown was pretty damn good last night.

205 Live was good last night as well.

the team this season on Hard Knocks is Tampa Bay. another team from the NFC South i can't stand, so i'll mostly be watching for shits and giggles.

Deadliest Catch was pretty good last night. i was reminded why i never felt any desire to work on a crab boat.

The Jim Jefferies Show last night was excellent.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Mr. Mercedes, Big Brother, Snowfall and Lucha Underground. i'll watch NXT sometime tonight on WWE Network.

i think i was so damn tired last night that when i fell asleep i ended up staying in one position most of the 5 hours i was asleep. let me just say that wasn't much fun getting out of bed with your whole body in pain.

it took me over a hour to get the dishes done last night. that probably helped me be so damn tired. hopefully mom decides a dishwasher would be a nice addition to the house soon. i certainly wouldn't mind.

i'll be on here tomorrow sometime before i take mom to her final physical therapy session for now. i guess i get to be the lucky one that makes sure she does her home exercises. joy.

one of those days where i wish i could sleep it all away

you know, the kind of day where you would love to just find a good recliner and take a nap that lasts all afternoon and a good portion of the evening. instead, i've spent most of the day doing dishes and laundry, wondering when my mother is going to realize getting a dishwasher isn't one of those outlandish thoughts for 2017.

Easter dinner yesterday went pretty well. i think my sister and i have matured enough to this point where we realize nothing truly can be gained from fighting with each other.

the New York Rangers played like shit yesterday. they didn't even bother to fake having a pulse until 57 minutes into the game. it's way too fucking late by then. Montreal won 3-1. if The King wouldn't have been excellent again yesterday, it would have been 6, 7 or 8 to 1. truly a fucking joke. Game 4 is on Tuesday. if the Rangers play like that again, this series is more or less over.
when that's the only highlight from the game for the Rangers, you know it was a truly shitty game.

thankfully, the New York Yankees continued their roll last night. Greg Bird finally broke out of his slump and the pitching was excellent once again. they beat St. Louis 9-3 for their second straight sweep. they start a series with the Chicago White Sox tonight. hopefully they can keep the winning streak going.

the series finale of Girls was about what i expected. the one thing i truly enjoyed about the show was how good it was at showing that some parts of life are just fucking mundane. there is no glamour or joy in them. and showing Hannah's frustration with being a new mother was a nice realistic example of what 99.9% of mothers go through. i never cared for shows that sugarcoat reality to a degree that is nothing more than fantasy.

Veep was fucking great last night. i absolutely love the pace of the comedy in the show.

Last Week Tonight was brilliant as always last night. hopefully the people of France were watching.

Guerrilla was very interesting last night. 1971 London is a little before my time, so i was pretty interested in the show. after watching the first episode, i'm in for all 6 episodes now.

Billions was excellent last night. next week's episode certainly looks even more interesting.

Feud: Bette and Joan was great once again. next week is the finale.

enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight and The Voice. i will be watching Monday Night Raw and some playoff hockey for most of the night.

the cough that won't go away

for some fucking reason, i can't seem to shake this cough i've had for almost 2 weeks now. it's truly fucking annoying the shit out of me. i forced myself to write last night. first time i've written anything in 13 days. 4 poems. i think they are pretty good. i suppose time will tell. i've been trying to sleep more, hoping that would give the white blood cells some time to get to work. apparently they are full of apathy as well. good times.

i listened to the latest Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast today. you can find it by going here:
http://notsam.com/wrestlingpodcast/2017/2/16/wrestling-podcast-121-alberto-del-rio

i enjoyed NXT last night. i thought the match between Tyler Bate and Trent Seven was pretty good.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, The Big Bang Theory, Life in Pieces and Baskets.

the New York Rangers play tonight at the Islanders. needless to say, i really hope the Rangers win tonight.

Manchester United did not play well today at all. if Saint-Etienne could have shot the ball on goal, United would have been in trouble. instead, Zlatan Ibrahimovic got his first Manchester United hat trick to give United a 3-0 win in Europa League action today. United next plays on Sunday in the FA Cup.

i know i need to go to the grocery store tomorrow. i will probably be on here after that i guess. my hopes of going to the basketball game this weekend has greatly diminished. i wanted this cough to be gone for at least a couple days before i went to sit with 13,000 people again.

oh well.

the eve of something

so i woke up this morning with a splitting headache and a nuclear arms race starting back up. oh goody.

the Dayton Flyers did a decent job last night keeping my mind off of the pain i was in. they had 7 players score in double figures last night as they easily crushed VMI 92-56. Scoochie Smith got his 1,000th point last night and the team tied the school record with 15 3 pointers. they did all this with their best player, Charles Cooke, sitting out with a wrist injury. hopefully that will be better by the time the A-10 schedule starts on December 30th against La Salle.

i got home to find out the New York Rangers got beat by Minnesota 7-4. that's two straight games the Rangers have given up 7 goals. not fucking good. maybe the Christmas break is coming at the right time.

of course, it's a bizarre world when the Columbus Blue Jackets have the most points in the NHL at the Christmas break.

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be ROH.

Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows. i can't wait for it to come back in 2017.

the New Orleans Saints play today at home against Tampa Bay. there is a small sliver of a chance for the Saints to make the playoffs. hopefully that chance still exists when they play today. i would love to see them win and basically screw up any chance for Tampa to make the playoffs.

i'm not sure what i'm doing this evening. usually my sister and i watch a movie on Christmas Eve. i think our new tradition is going to be the movie The Night Before. either that, or i might try the Westworld finale.

i hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas Eve. if you're shopping, good luck. if you're traveling, stay safe. if you're drinking, welcome aboard.

i hate my family just enough that i will probably be on here at some point tomorrow. as for now, i have a garage to rearrange. hopefully i will get that done before the Saints play.

be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

peace and chicken grease...

raining in the sunshine

we just had a pop up shower come through here, so my arthritis is feeling just fucking great at the moment. good times.

on the way to the grocery store last night, it started to rain. and i mean, it started to rain out of nowhere. barely any clouds and plenty of sunshine. totally fucking bizarre.

i do appreciate that mom allowed me to actually be an adult yesterday and do the grocery shopping by myself. i'm not sure if she really fears that i'm going to kill someone some day or she's going to get a call from jail if i'm out and about on my own... either are fucking possible, but i don't look for trouble. the grocery shopping went well, other than taking forever to find some fucking lemon extract. and it figures, i'm there by myself and all the lovely women i normally see when i'm there with mom are nowhere to be found. welcome to my life.

Manchester United defeated Southampton 2-0 yesterday. or should i say Zlatan Ibrahimovic defeated Southampton 2-0. it was probably the first time in years that at times during the game i actually thought i was watching the Manchester United teams that played under Sir Alex. Pogba played all 90 minutes and was brilliant for most of them. i don't want to get ahead of myself, but this team looks like it's going to be a special one this season.

team USA men's basketball team outlasted Spain yesterday, 82-76. they will play Serbia tomorrow in the gold medal game.

the New York Yankees must have enjoyed their day off in California as they destroyed the Angels last night, 7-0. Gary Sanchez is quickly becoming one of my favorite players. hopefully the dominance over the Angels continues tonight.

NJPW was pretty good last night.

Big Brother was a pretty fun show last night. mostly just highlights and some funny clips from the season.

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be ROH. i'll be watching NXT Takeover Brooklyn II for most of the evening.

i do plan on watching the gold medal soccer match between Brazil and Germany later today. that should be really good. (hopefully)

i've been watching soccer on and off all day so far. i got back from taking mom to the chiropractor in time to see Liverpool lose today. that brought a smile to my face.

mom has a doctor's appointment on Monday morning. hopefully that will start the paperwork so she won't have to drive to Columbus for work later on in the week. i've told her there is no fucking way she'll be able to do it and not feel totally fucking miserable. thankfully, the chiropractor told her the same thing. she of course thinks she has to do it because it's part of the job. so once again, i have to be the adult and tell her no.

i'll be on here tomorrow in the morning sometime. i think my sister is coming down for our uncle's birthday. plus, SummerSlam is tomorrow, so i'll be busy most of the day.

i hope everyone has a great Saturday. call if you need bail money.
