the sweet taste of revenge...

i watched the Ohio State game last night, really hoping they were going to destroy Oregon and rub their noses in it. when Ohio State got up 34-0 i was so fucking happy. they ended up winning the Rose Bowl, 41-21. they will play in the semifinals of the college football playoff against Texas, which survived Arizona St, 39-31 in 2OT.

AEW Dynamite was good last night.

Orkin came out today to check the traps. i told the guy i think one of them went off as i could hear the trap hitting up against something in the attic. sure enough, there was one squirrel in one of the traps. he used some of my suet as bait to put in the other trap to see if anything else is up there.

nothing on the DVR tonight.

team USA takes on Switzerland today at the World Juniors.

the New York Rangers play tonight at home against Boston. hopefully, they will find a way to win.

the Sugar Bowl is today between Georgia and Notre Dame. winner plays Penn State in the other semifinal of the college football playoff.

amazingly, they had the trash and recyclables picked up before 11 AM today. now, i have to put all the plastics and cardboard that wouldn't fit because they forgot to pick them up last week, into the now empty bin.

i did write one poem last night for the upcoming book. i was hoping for more, but i think that might come tonight.

i am going to try to be on here tomorrow in the morning before my doctor's appointment in the afternoon. i think after that appointment i need to get the rest of the grocery shopping done.

that's all for me kids.

breakfast at noon...

so, there was a bunch of shit that kept me up last night... i didn't fall asleep until 5 this morning. managed to finally get out of bed a little after 11. just enough rain and moisture last night that my arthritis was having a field trip. i hate eating breakfast at noon. it just drives home the fact i am already way behind on everything i need to do. i think that is what living 18 years on a farm taught me. there is always something to fucking do. and time waits for no one.

the New Orleans Saints won yesterday at Philadelphia, 20-10. of course, in the grand scheme of things it meant nothing as they were later eliminated from making the playoffs. oh well, at least they made the last week of the season interesting for the NFC. the Eagles still haven't clinched the top seed yet.

the New York Rangers won yesterday at Florida, 5-3. they play tomorrow at home against Carolina.

George & Tammy was really good last night. the season finale is next week.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Monday Night Raw.

so, the betting yesterday didn't go so well for me. my 49ers parlay almost hit, but the Raiders ended up tying the game near the end, which made it impossible for the 49ers to win by more than 6.5 points. i then took a flyer on a free bet on the Buffalo Sabres. they lost to Ottawa, 3-1. so, in my final bets of the night, i took an easy gamble on the Bengals tonight that they won't be shutout. and i felt a little frisky so i took Brentford to beat Liverpool today. and HOLY SHIT, they defeated them 3-1. i took Brentford at +450, so my free $25 bet paid out $112.50. so, i feel much better now.

i did listen to episode 428 of Notsam Wrestling today. you can hear that by going here:

team USA plays Germany today at the World Juniors. hopefully the boys will win and advance.

i do have the Winter Classic on right now. Bruins vs. Penguins from Fenway Park.

the New York Knicks play today at home against Phoenix.

here are your NBA highlights from yesterday:

i'm sure i will watch some college football games at some point today. and i will probably watch some of the game tonight between the Bills and Bengals.

not sure when i will be on here tomorrow. i know at some point i will probably be going to the bank and probably Rite Aid to pick up a prescription. at least there shouldn't be the clusterfuck with my health insurance this year.

i hope everyone had a great weekend and a great start to 2023.

one for the ages...

so, when Ohio State got down 14-0 yesterday to Utah, i was not happy. thankfully, the show was just beginning. CJ Stroud and Jaxon Smith-Njigba put on a show last night. Stroud threw for 572 yards and 6 TDs. Jaxon had 15 catches for 347 yards and 3 TDs. they both set records for the Rose Bowl and for Ohio State. Ohio State beat Utah last night, 48-45. i hope that sets up the team for a monster 2022 season.

the Winter Classic last night was good. the Blues beat the Wild, 6-4.

WWE Day 1 was interesting last night. Roman Reigns had to be pulled from the show because of COVID. that meant Brock Lesnar was put into the WWE championship match instead. and of course, he won. i really hope that sets something up between him and Bobby Lashley or Big E. i would love to see those matches down the line.

here are your NBA highlights from last night:

the New York Rangers play this afternoon at home against Tampa Bay. hopefully, they boys will find a way to win.

the New Orleans Saints play at home today against Carolina. the Saints are getting many of their players back today, so i'm expecting them to win.

it has finally stopped raining, for now. it feels like winter again.

not a bad start to the new year...

so, lets start where we left off...

Manchester United defeated Aston Villa yesterday, 2-1. that means they are level on points with Liverpool. looks like we might have a little tight race for the title this year.

Ohio State took Clemson out behind the barn last night, and got all of the revenge any of us ever needed. Ohio State defeated Clemson, 49-28. Ryan Day is the first Ohio State coach EVER to defeat Clemson. now, Ohio State will play Alabama for the national championship.

Smackdown and 205 Live were both really good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be ROH.

the Dayton Flyers play today at home against George Mason. i really hope they play way better than they did against LaSalle.

tonight, the USA play Slovakia in the quarterfinals of the World Juniors. hopefully, the boys will get the win tonight and be healthy and ready for the medal rounds.

i saw where the Saints will be without all of their running backs tomorrow since Alvin Kamara tested positive for Covid. it should be very interesting to see what the Saints do, since they still have a shot at the number 1 seed in the NFC.

i should be on here tomorrow before that game starts in the late afternoon.

the weather has been a little crazy here. the snow never came, but the rain eventually warmed shit up into the 50's yesterday before yet another cold front came through.

i imagine i'll sleep better sometime after my death...

i got 4 damn hours of sleep last night. it's not that i wasn't trying to get more sleep... i think my insomnia has got to the point where it's not possible to get more sleep. i should have done better drugs when i was younger...

Manchester United was fucking awful yesterday. they lost to Arsenal, 2-0. thank god i didn't bother watching the second half.

i did watch a good amount of the Rose Bowl yesterday. Oregon defeated Wisconsin, 28-27.

and i do love a good Michigan loss. even more when Alabama runs up the score against them.

NXT was pretty good last night.

AEW was excellent last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

nothing on the DVR tonight. i'll watch NXT UK sometime this afternoon.

the USA takes on Finland today at the World Juniors. winner goes to the semi-finals. i'd love to see the USA get a little revenge for last year's gold medal game.

the Dayton Flyers play tonight at La Salle. i'm really hoping this is the year Dayton remembers how to win in Philadelphia. it's almost been a damn decade since they have done so.

the New York Rangers play tonight at Calgary. hopefully, they get off to a much better start tonight and get a victory.

i will probably watch some college football today as well.

i'll be on here tomorrow after i get all the grocery shopping done. it's supposed to be raining tomorrow, so i'll be in a great fucking mood.

until then kids...

and so the year of death begins...

i woke up this morning to the news of one of my voices of my youth passing away. if you watched any wrestling in the late 70's to mid 80's (or longer) you definitely remember the voice of Mean Gene. i think nearly all of my memories of backstage interviews involve Mean Gene Okerlund. i know he just turned 76 not too long ago, so i suppose his life circle is complete. my condolences to his family and friends. you will never be forgotten.

Ohio State was up 28-3 last night and then human nature kicked in. they took their foot off the neck of Washington and nearly pissed away that big lead. Ohio State ended up winning the Rose Bowl, 28-23. thank god i didn't bet on the game. the last spread i saw was Ohio State - 5 1/2. that would have been a brutal loss to swallow.

Smackdown was really good last night. and i absolutely loved Becky Lynch getting in John Cena's face. The Man wins again.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight and The Masked Singer. i'll watch NXT UK, NXT and 205 Live sometime tonight on WWE Network.

i guess the New York Yankees have signed Troy Tulowitzki. if he is healthy, it's a good, cheap signing until Didi comes back from his injury. plus, it never hurts to have some depth. now, i wish they would go sign Manny Machado and get that drama over with.

the New York Rangers play tonight at home against Pittsburgh. i certainly wouldn't mind if the Rangers keep surprising me with victories.

Manchester United plays this afternoon at Newcastle. hopefully, their good play will continue today. the game isn't on television here, so i'm going to follow online.

team USA plays the Czech Republic tonight in the World Juniors quarterfinals. if the USA wins tonight, they will have a chance to play for a medal.

i will probably be on here tomorrow after a trip to the bank.

i know i need to do a little writing as well and get the poems sorted out as i need to get some submissions out by next week. if a wild hair gets up my ass, maybe those will get out sooner.

i hope 2019 is treating everyone well so far.

now it really feels like winter

when you see school closings the night before, you know it's officially winter. i believe it was somewhere around -10 this morning. i imagine with the windchill it was even worse. i haven't even bothered to think about going outside yet. mom has even told me to not bother to do the trash next door or worry about getting ours out. so, i figure once i get this blog done, i'll throw on a few layers and hope to fucking god the mail has already been delivered.

the New York Rangers won the Winter Classic yesterday over Buffalo, 3-2 in OT. the Rangers are 4-0 since they have started these outdoor games. i was worried yesterday as the Rangers had to score the winning goal on the side of the ice that no one had been able to score on. thankfully, J.T. Miller got it done on the power play in overtime. the Rangers play again tomorrow at home against Chicago.

Manchester United finally got a win yesterday. they defeated Everton 2-0. Martial and Lingard scored two beautiful goals in the victory. hopefully that starts a positive run for the team.

i did watch a little of the college football games last night. as i figured, the national championship game is going to be Georgia vs. Alabama. Alabama's coach has never lost to any of his former assistants. and of course, Georgia is coached by one of his former assistants.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night. i really enjoyed Roman Reigns vs. Samoa Joe again last night. and having The Club (Balor, Anderson, Gallows) back together certainly made me smile.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight and Smackdown. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on WWE Network.

team USA plays Russia tonight in the quarterfinals at the World Juniors. it would be nice to see the USA advance. that's the only way they are going to have a chance to win another medal. these are all MUST win games now.

i will be on here tomorrow after my doctor's appointment. i'm not quite sure what to expect as i haven't had a new doctor in about 15 years.

and hopefully the snow they are saying we will get tomorrow won't be too bad. mom's appointment with the doctor is before mine. she hates being out in bad conditions. i don't mind, as i remember how to turn into the skid.

until tomorrow my friends.

who really needs sleep anyway

i got up pretty early this morning, mostly because it's what i do anymore. as i told my mother last night, i can always sleep well when i die. i used to think that the alcohol helped me sleep better, but so far that isn't the case this year. but, like the stubborn fuck i am, i'll give it another try tonight.

Manchester United played a boring first half this morning against Swansea. then, i don't know what happened, but they came out on fire in the second half. Martial scored a beautiful header. then United did their usual look, we're leading, oh shit, they scored. but then the captain scored an amazing goal. holy shit, did i just type Wayne Rooney scored. it must be a new year. Manchester United wins 2-1.

team USA absolutely destroyed the Czech Republic today, 7-0 in the quarterfinals of the World Juniors. they will now play Russia on Monday to see who goes to the gold medal game. Russia won in OT today against Denmark. Russia has knocked the USA out of this tournament the last 2 years. needless to say, Monday, it is time for revenge.

the Dayton Flyers won today at Duquesne but the game might have set basketball back 100 years. neither team could throw the ball in the ocean in the first half. and the officiating was god fucking awful. who the fuck wants to watch a game where there are 50 fucking free throws attempted. and the numbers wouldn't have been close if Duquesne wouldn't have started fouling late to stop the clock. and if the officials were bad, the television announcers were even worse. but, as one fan put it, at least Dayton is now at the point where they can play like shit on the road and still win. Dayton wins 66-58.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Austin City Limits and ROH.

the New York Rangers face a red hot Florida Panthers team tonight down in Florida. i believe if the Rangers win tonight it will be the first time they have won back to back games since November. hopefully they do win tonight.

i will probably be on here in the morning tomorrow, before the last week of the NFL regular season.

i've got a video in my head for my next YouTube video. just trying to figure out how to shoot it. hopefully that will be done and go up before my birthday.

speaking of that, if anyone would like to get me anything for my 40th birthday, the link to the Amazon Wish List is on the right hand side of the blog. there are plenty of items on there less than $10. just sayin'.

i hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. as always, call if you need bail money.

arthritis is kicking my ass

if the first 2 days of 2015 are a clue to what the whole year is going to be like, this is going to be my year of pain. i suppose this will be my true test of my pain tolerance. if i make it to the other side, there will be a new me. if i don't, enjoy the poems along the way of my demise. the fact that it's somewhat painful to type this at all is a wonderful sign of things to come.

other than the pain, i'm still riding the high of Ohio State upsetting #1 Alabama last night in the Sugar Bowl. that was an instant classic. the highs, the lows, my incessant cussing out of coaches for play calls, the touchdown run to seal the win, one of the best victory beers of my life. Ohio State won 42-35 and will now play for the National Championship against Oregon. hearing all these fuckers from down south so pissed off last night made me laugh all night long. the myth of the SEC has now been broken forever. thank god.

it took me forever to fall asleep last night and then i got a whole 2 hours of sleep before i woke up to do the dishes. two days in a row of being up before the sun. i guess i'm suddenly in my 60's. i'm going to try to sleep in my chair tonight. i cat nap in the fucker most of the day anyway. hopefully i'll be able to get a few more hours and hopefully my shoulder will feel better as well.

i'm planning on taking a nice long shower after this. enjoy that visual.

Frontier Communications finally got around to fixing our shit. i guess some mice were the culprit on the other main road out here in the sticks. of course, when it gets really cold here in a few days, i expect our service to go out again.

i guess mom is now targeting late January to start the moving process.

after a little nap earlier today, i watched team USA play Russia in the 2015 World Juniors. Russia eliminated the USA once again from this tournament, 3-2. that's 2 years in a row. the two New York Rangers prospects on Russia played good. i think they definitely have two future NHL players in those two picks. as for the USA, there was something missing with this team for sure. when i saw the end of the game and tempers were flaring and no one came to help one American player, it became easy to see that this was a team of individuals. hopefully they learn from this painful lesson, but i seriously doubt it.

i have no clue what i'm going to do tonight. i might pour me a tall glass of whiskey and start sending out poetry submissions. or i might just watch some television and hopefully fall asleep. either way, i'm really looking forward to that shower.

i'll be on here early tomorrow as we have a basketball game at 1 in the afternoon. it's supposed to be raining cats and dogs. hopefully the freezing rain will have moved on by then. the weather is going to get pretty fucking crazy around here in the next 48 hours. from thunderstorms to snow and single digit temperatures. good times.

one the cats has not been eating much the last few days. i figure the ground is just about frozen solid, so it will be dying soon. they rarely die when i can bury them somewhere. i figure once there is a few inches of snow on the ground and we have some snow drifts out here, that's when the damn cat will die. that's certainly one thing i won't miss at the new house. of course, it really just means i'll end up talking to myself more.

that's all for today. i'm thinking i'm going to do a little shaving before i get in the shower. on my face you perverts. i hope everyone had a great day. if not, drink something stronger. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

misery, snow, poems, and other forms of madness

when i woke up this morning, the clock read 4:18 am. i took my glasses back off and said fuck that. i didn't have to be up until 6 am. you guessed it, i woke back up at 7:30 am. needless to say, i wasn't pleased. i quickly flipped over to what i was getting up at 6 to see and got even more pissed.

team USA lost to Russia today 5-3 at the World Juniors. i only got to watch the 3rd period. once again the inability of team USA to stay out of the box was just mind blowing. but, i also have to give Russia credit for making them pay for their mistakes. i'll still watch the tournament but i doubt i'll make sure to be up to watch it live. the ouch part of all this was the player from Russia that really stood out today was a draft pick by the New York Rangers. hopefully he has that same kind of fire and skill when he's wearing a blue jersey.

so after that wonderful start to my day i started to pay attention to the weather. the snow kept steady but the winds kept getting worse and worse. the guy who farms out here plowed the lane. hopefully it will still be passable once the wind and drifting stops. like a dumb ass, i shoveled the sidewalks and put some ice melter out hoping it would make a difference. thankfully, my back felt much better today. i felt it a few times while i was shoveling, but it never felt like it was going to seize up and give out. of course, there is plenty of winter left for that to happen.

so after all that joy, i decided to send out some poems today. might as well do something in 2014 to get my mind off of shit. i sent out 11 poems today, 3 each to The Camel Saloon and Dead Snakes, and 5 to The Blind Vigil Revue. a big thanks to Russell at The Camel Saloon for the heads up about Blind Vigil. when i hear back from these places i will pass along the news here on the blog and all the other sites i whore myself out to.

i made the mistake of looking at the temps for the weekend and early next week. when i saw that one day the high temp is going to be -2, i just laughed. mom wants to bring the cats in and i told her no. we will get to see which ones really want to live now. hopefully the power doesn't go out and the propane is still full. i've got a feeling every damn heater we have in this house will be running.

i'm looking forward to The Big Bang Theory tonight. it's a new episode. other than that, i'll be watching some college sports. probably some NHL games as well.

spent most of last night flipping between college football and Aerial America on the Smithsonian Channel. don't ask. my brain is able to make sense of why i do the shit i do and that's all that matters.

hopefully i'll be able to get out to the post office tomorrow. and maybe tomorrow we'll get a paper as well. thankfully i didn't make the trip down the lane to check. the guy who farms out here was kind enough to do that.

alright, enough of my rambling. i'll be on here tomorrow with more stories about prepping for the great freeze of 2014. be well. peace and chicken grease...
