3 hours i'll never get back...

i sat at the car dealership for 3 hours today. now, i did get 4 poems written and went through 3 sticks of gum. after all that and $444, the Highlander was back to good. they had to completely replace the thermostat. there is a 1,000 mile warranty on it. so, i figure it will hit the fan when 1,001 miles hits. i'm going to type up the poems later tonight. after those 3 hours, i then had to go grocery shopping for the third fucking day in a row. i hate grocery shopping on Fridays. i survived, found just about everything mom had on the list. made it home in time to eat lunch at 5 PM. and people wonder why i always have a big breakfast.

a big thank you to everyone for checking out my latest published poems:

the joys of insomnia...

so, i went to bed around 5 again this morning. up at 9, rinse, repeat, off to the grocery stores... i have been defeated by the mundane. good times.

the poet of the day for this day of National Poetry Month is Mather Schneider. yet another one that i have been published with for decades now, Mather knows how to lay down the words and keep you coming back for more...

the WWE Hall of Fame ceremonies last night were pretty good. it did feel a little long, but that was mostly due to the fact they were doing the 2020 and 2021 classes in the same night.

Hemingway was very good last night. i'm sure the finale tonight will be great as well.

Young Rock was pretty funny last night.

Kenan was very good last night.

Dark Side of the Ring: Confidential was about New Jack last night.

Mayans M.C. was fucking great last night.

the Yankees defeated the Orioles last night, 7-2. they will go for the sweep tonight.

and so the year of death begins...

i woke up this morning to the news of one of my voices of my youth passing away. if you watched any wrestling in the late 70's to mid 80's (or longer) you definitely remember the voice of Mean Gene. i think nearly all of my memories of backstage interviews involve Mean Gene Okerlund. i know he just turned 76 not too long ago, so i suppose his life circle is complete. my condolences to his family and friends. you will never be forgotten.

Ohio State was up 28-3 last night and then human nature kicked in. they took their foot off the neck of Washington and nearly pissed away that big lead. Ohio State ended up winning the Rose Bowl, 28-23. thank god i didn't bet on the game. the last spread i saw was Ohio State - 5 1/2. that would have been a brutal loss to swallow.

Smackdown was really good last night. and i absolutely loved Becky Lynch getting in John Cena's face. The Man wins again.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight and The Masked Singer. i'll watch NXT UK, NXT and 205 Live sometime tonight on WWE Network.

i guess the New York Yankees have signed Troy Tulowitzki. if he is healthy, it's a good, cheap signing until Didi comes back from his injury. plus, it never hurts to have some depth. now, i wish they would go sign Manny Machado and get that drama over with.

the New York Rangers play tonight at home against Pittsburgh. i certainly wouldn't mind if the Rangers keep surprising me with victories.

Manchester United plays this afternoon at Newcastle. hopefully, their good play will continue today. the game isn't on television here, so i'm going to follow online.

team USA plays the Czech Republic tonight in the World Juniors quarterfinals. if the USA wins tonight, they will have a chance to play for a medal.

i will probably be on here tomorrow after a trip to the bank.

i know i need to do a little writing as well and get the poems sorted out as i need to get some submissions out by next week. if a wild hair gets up my ass, maybe those will get out sooner.

i hope 2019 is treating everyone well so far.

you would think a blizzard is coming...

i pulled into the parking lot at the grocery store this afternoon and you would have thought there was a blizzard coming. i had to drive around for a few minutes just to find a damn spot. i got inside and there was 4 carts left in there. jesus christ. thankfully, i didn't have much to get. sure, it's colder now and there was a few snow showers this morning, but, it's fucking Ohio. that's called normal.

i thought i did pretty good today considering i had to get gas, go to 2 different grocery stores and the local drug store. i think after all 4 places, i kept everything under $130. i'm sure mom appreciates that.

Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows.

The Big Bang Theory was hilarious last night.

Young Sheldon was great last night.

The Voice was basically a recap show to set everyone up for the live shows next week.

i did watch We Are Not Done Yet last night on HBO. i was very interested to see how the veterans incorporated poetry into their battle with PTSD. it was a very good show.

i did love that the Steelers destroyed the Panthers last night, 52-21. now, if the Saints win on Sunday, they will have a 2 game lead in the division.

i did watch a good portion of Portland vs. Seattle last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be VICE, NJPW, Real Time with Bill Maher, Room 104 and Mike Judge Presents: Tales From the Tour Bus.

i did watch the first episode of season 2 of Tales From the Tour Bus earlier today. i completely forgot it started back up last week. tonight's episode is about Rick James.

the New York Rangers play tonight in Detroit. hopefully they can continue their winning streak.

i will be on here early tomorrow, probably in the morning i suppose. Ohio State plays at noon and then Dayton plays tomorrow night.

i hope everyone has a great weekend.

sometimes the blind squirrel finds the nut...

i did go to the basketball game last night. i basically went to see the halftime act, Red Panda. i figured Dayton would lose to Davidson. well, well, well... Dayton started off much better than i expected. i thought it was going to be a great night as the asshole that normally sits next to me wasn't there by the first tv timeout. and just as i got happy, i saw the motherfucker walking with his beer up the steps. fuck me. Dayton was leading at halftime. the second half was a game of runs. sadly, i think Dayton's coach had them playing not to lose instead of trying to teach them the urgency of now. somehow Dayton got a little lucky and somehow survived a last second shot by Davidson. the shot actually should have never happened as Dayton still had 2 fouls to give. that would have eaten up the 3 seconds left rather easily. for some reason, i doubt the Dayton coach even mentioned that to his players. Dayton won 65-64. they play Saturday on the road against Saint Louis.

Smackdown was pretty good last night.

205 Live was pretty interesting last night. i'm really intrigued to see who they pick to be the GM of the show. i figure it will be a big name. that should help clean up the Enzo mess.

Mosaic was excellent last night. i can't wait to see what happens tonight.

Hate Thy Neighbor was as crazy as i expected it to be last night. i never understand why people disguise their hate as the word of god.

Baskets was pretty funny last night.

the New York Rangers lost yet again last night out in Anaheim, 6-3. they play tomorrow night in San Jose, hoping to not make it a completely fucking worthless road trip.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Mosaic, Total Divas and The X-Files. i'll watch NXT sometime tonight on WWE Network.

it's been somewhat rainy/snowy all fucking day. i fucking can't stand these dreary winter days.

mom has an eye appointment tomorrow afternoon. so it looks like i'm going to be driving her around for most of the day. physical therapy in the morning. eye appointment in the afternoon. pick up pills after that. i suppose i will try to squeeze in a blog after all that. i guess i probably should take a shower tonight.

and part of me thinks i should get the damn grocery shopping done tomorrow. but, it's also supposed to be 50 fucking degrees on Friday, so i might wait.

let's start fresh

i started off August with 3 poems this morning. of course, 2 of them are about suicide, but i am happy that the words are really flowing these days. i'm hoping to have my next round of submissions ready by the end of this week.

i got a copy of Damned Dirty and Dangerous in the mail today. it's a book of poetry from Ben John Smith and John D Robinson. two words my friends, FUCKING BRILLIANT. i highly recommend checking it out. here's a few links for more info:
http://www.horrorsleazetrash.com/uncategorized/damned-dirty-dangerous-ben-john-smith-and-john-d-robinson/
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/35249060-damned-dirty-and-dangerous

the New York Yankees won last night 7-3 over Detroit. they also won before the game when they made the Sonny Gray trade. i'm amazed that they have been able to rebuild the starting staff on the fly and be in first place on August 1st. they are clearly built for the now and for the future. they made two pretty big trades before the trade deadline and didn't give up any of their biggest prospects. that makes me even happier. hopefully the Yankees will win again tonight.

i thought Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night but could have been so much better.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Smackdown, Deadliest Catch, Fear(less) with Tim Ferriss and The Jim Jefferies Show. i'll watch 205 Live on WWE Network sometime tonight.

i made a little trip to the bank today. nothing quite like starting off the month with a nice big deposit. they were surprisingly busy, so i didn't get to talk to my favorite teller.

i will probably be on here tomorrow before Manchester United plays in the afternoon.

i need to get the trash picked up here and next door, so that's all for me kids.

trying to enjoy some cold sunshine

since i will be driving mom to her doctor's appointment today, i figured i would crank one of these out a little early. she found a Menards not far from her doctor's office, so i figure we'll go there after her appointment.

i didn't watch much of the football game last night. i figured i would get my pick right, but the players i had going i didn't have much faith in. i was correct on both accounts. i ended up losing 2 of the 3 of my fantasy matches, so now all of my teams are 7-4. i can remember a month ago when they were all 6-1. i ended up going 6-8 on my picks, which was sadly 1 game better than the week before. i really need to get going or this whole season is going to be a fucking failure.

thankfully, the New York Rangers managed to get outplayed for 40 minutes last night but still win 3-0. i am shocked that Nashville can't fucking score. that's 3 straight games they have been shutout. #Nashty is really starting to heat up and The King is arguably the best player in the league right now. and this Rangers team is on the best streak in franchise history. i hope they are playing this way 5 months from now. they next play against Montreal tomorrow night.

The Voice was pretty good last night. three performances really caught my ear; Jeffrey, Madi and Amy. i will be shocked if any of them are eliminated tonight.

Gotham was awesome last night. i can't wait for next week's episode.

Monday Night Raw was not good last night. between the injuries they have right now and a stubborn old fuck running things, they are currently just pissing away some great talent. it's painfully obvious that Vince needs to let the kids start running things.

i picked a scab last night and was sort of surprised by how much i actually bled. nothing quite like stumbling around at 2 in the morning trying to find a fucking band-aid.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be The Voice and Scream Queens.

i think after Thanksgiving i'm going to send out another round of poems. not sure how much fun i will have doing it on this little keyboard... but i know i have a stack of poems that need to see the light of day. plus, since i don't look through magazines while in waiting rooms, i will probably have a few more poems after this afternoon.

i will probably be on here tomorrow before Manchester United plays PSV in Champions League action. plus, my sister will be coming down here tomorrow as well. she's planning on being here until Sunday, so that should be interesting. i suppose i should get my laundry done before she gets here.

that's all for me kids. as always, check out my Google+ page to see what videos didn't make it here.

i hope everyone has a great day. take it easy and then take it again.

so this is what summer feels like

first off, let me thank whomever left the comments about my latest poems in Dead Snakes. that helped make my morning a tad bit more bearable.

summer has returned here today. temps in the upper 80's with humidity close to that number. i made the mistake of driving with my window open while driving by the farm at the nearest intersection out here. they were spreading shit in the field. take about a smell that burns the back of your throat forever. there's one thing i won't miss when we move.

one thing i will miss happened when i was doing the dishes today. out of nowhere came 18 wild turkeys moving from the corn to the soybeans. i know wherever we move, i most likely won't see something like that.

the Yankees had an offensive explosion yesterday, winning 4-2. 2 wins in a row, holy shit. they are off tonight before they play Houston tomorrow at home. hopefully they can get on a big winning streak to truly get back in the playoff race.

the shows last night were excellent. Big Brother made me laugh. i truly hate this Team America bullshit. and i do believe the producers are going to get their wish this Thursday; fireworks. Ray Donovan was really good, mostly because there was plenty of sex involved. The Strain was brilliant. truly fucking terrifying. Last Week Tonight was fucking hilarious. not sure what i'm going to do with it off for the next 2 weeks. Masters of Sex was good and kind of sad.

tonight i will be watching Monday Night Raw. there were 3 title changes last night at the PPV. that should make for an interesting show, especially given that one of those changes was John Cena losing his title. i'll watch just for that quite honestly.

got my sister's birthday gifts ordered today. i had to get her more than one thing as the book i ordered for her is caught up in Amazon's war with book publishers. i checked and saw i had enough reward points on my credit card to cover it all. so, i of course got a few things for myself.

my mom made it down to her meeting this morning right before it started. she said traffic was horrible. of course, i didn't know she actually made it down there until she called me this afternoon to tell me she was on her way home. i suppose it's going to be a late dinner tonight as i fully expect traffic to be horrible on the way back up here. good times.

that's pretty much all for me today. hope everyone had a great weekend.

short and sweet

this is going to be a quick one today. been up since the crack of dawn since i had to drive mom to get her MRI done today. we just got back home from breakfast at Waffle House. and i've got cats to feed and grass to get mowed before it is supposed to rain tonight. good times.

it took mom forever to get her MRI done. i was sitting in the waiting room for over 2 hours. but, i was able to get 5 poems written. i'll type those up late tonight most likely.

speaking of poems, i believe i have 17 i will be sending out tomorrow to a few places. i'm guessing i'll do that in the morning.

the Yankees won yesterday, 4-2. another series win. they have now won 6 out of 7 to start the second half of the season. they start a huge series at home tonight against Toronto.

Big Brother went as i hoped it would last night. Married was a little better than last week. You're the Worst was great once again.

tonight i'll be flipping between baseball and god knows what else.

i'll try to get back on here tomorrow before some day baseball and before Manchester United plays Roma in Denver. that will be a decent test for them.

hope everyone has a great weekend.

mere seconds away...

i have been a sports fan for nearly my entire life. being punched in the gut by a game is not new to me. hell, i quit believing in happiness after 2001 when the Yankees lost in the World Series. so, last night, when the USA gave up the goal in the final seconds against Portugal, i was stunned, shocked, hurt, upset... but really fucking happy it wasn't a loss. probably helps that i was watching wrestling about 3 minutes after the game, so my mind was occupied. while the 2-2 draw keeps everyone in the group of death alive, i still feel pretty confident that the USA WILL advance to the knockout round. of course, come Thursday, i might be feeling different.

in the other games yesterday, Belgium beat Russia 1-0 in one boring ass match. thankfully, i didn't watch much of it. Algeria beat South Korea 4-2 in a pretty entertaining match.

today starts the final games of the group stage. the day starts with Group B. Spain vs. Australia in a game that means nothing. Chile vs. Netherlands to determine the group winner. in Group A action, Brazil plays Cameroon in what should be an entertaining game. and then the HUGE match between Mexico and Croatia. that will determine who gets out of the group. hopefully another good day of action.

the Yankees played like shit yesterday. Tanaka pitched well enough to deserve a better fate, but the offense decided it wanted the day off. 8-0. at least the fucking Old Timer's game was entertaining. it was good to see some of the guys i remember from my childhood, following the Yankees in the newspaper and by baseball cards. they play again tonight in Toronto.

the ROH ppv last night, Best in the World, was great. 3 hours of non-stop action. some really good matches. a few holy shit moments. a title change that i didn't see coming. i thought it was a very good start to a new era in ROH. hopefully the buy rate is good enough that they will do another one.

got an invite to submit some poems to the Chiron Review in the mail over the weekend. i'll definitely have to come up with something to send their way.

mom is up in Columbus for most of the week. so, i'll be home alone. how i wish i still had the energy i had in my twenties. i might try to do some creative shit while i'm alone. i haven't painted since god knows when. and i've had a YouTube video idea brewing in my head for months now. hopefully, i have the right batteries in the house as most of my shit is dead at the moment.

i need to get some gas sometime in the next few days. the grass is getting to the point of ridiculous. of course, it's rained at some point like every day for the last week or so. doesn't look like it will be "dry" until the end of the week.

the Sunday night shows were excellent last night. Last Week Tonight had me laughing. Nurse Jackie was a really good setup for the finale next week. Californication was good. the series finale is next week. i'll be a little sad to see one of my favorite shows end. Penny Dreadful was spectacular last night. i can't wait to see how this season ends. if Eva Green doesn't win something for this series, i'll be shocked.

tonight will be a mix of baseball and Monday Night Raw. and then if i'm up to it, some creative outbursts.

hope this Monday is finding everyone well... not too hungover from the weekend, be it sports, alcohol, sex, etc...

be well my enemies, i will return tomorrow. hopefully with pictures.

let the music take over

just one of those days when the weather feels so damn nice that you just wanna be a lazy piece of shit for the day. and since i'm that most days, i decided i would get a few things done and then let the music take over.

got the dishes done this afternoon after i decided i didn't feel like doing them at midnight last night. also, finished The Killing Joke this afternoon. i really enjoyed it. so, it looks like i know where some of my money will be going now.

got a compliment on my beard last night at the grocery store. of course, it was from the 16 year old girl bagging the groceries. i thanked her and then did my best to not do anything to get me arrested.

not sure what i'm going to watch tonight on television. i believe the Yankees are in Kansas City and play at 8 pm. other than that, not a clue. i'm sure there must be a soccer friendly on somewhere. of course, there's always some pro wrestling and the Food Network. i'm sure i'll fall asleep to something.

did have some fun on iTunes today. what amazes me is most of these songs i find that are a few years old come from my brain recalling a certain situation or certain poem that i was writing when that song was playing. quite frankly, it spooks me out at times. but, i enjoy it just as much. you'll see some new names down below.

had a holy shit moment with an old girlfriend who emailed me back today. she brought up something good that happened over 20 years ago. that brought back some memories, let me tell ya. that should allow you to understand some of the music below.

hope this finds everyone well and ready for the weekend. i'll probably be on here early tomorrow, given that all my sports are going to be on Saturday night.

take it easy my friends, and by all means, take it again...
