running on fumes...

 so, i got 3 hours of sleep last night. i woke up this morning and realized mom kept the coffee pot on last night. i woke her up and let her know. she thought for sure she had turned it off. so i had to get that soaking, since we don't have a backup pot. (mom destroyed that one years ago doing the same damn thing) she had tea this morning instead of coffee. 

i did type up those 4 poems last night. i should get some poems out before Thanksgiving.

3 hours i'll never get back...

 i sat at the car dealership for 3 hours today. now, i did get 4 poems written and went through 3 sticks of gum. after all that and $444, the Highlander was back to good. they had to completely replace the thermostat. there is a 1,000 mile warranty on it. so, i figure it will hit the fan when 1,001 miles hits. i'm going to type up the poems later tonight. after those 3 hours, i then had to go grocery shopping for the third fucking day in a row. i hate grocery shopping on Fridays. i survived, found just about everything mom had on the list. made it home in time to eat lunch at 5 PM. and people wonder why i always have a big breakfast.

fun to wake up and be happy, for a change...

 so, when i woke up this morning, it was a little bit before the Manchester United game was going to start. so, i was ready when it got going. i wasn't very happy with the first 30 minutes. but, once Onana made the penalty save and the team woke the fuck up, it was easily the best they have played this season. now, it helps that Southampton sucks. United won today, 3-0.

after the game, i went to Kroger to pick up a prescription. it took way longer than it should have, but i wasn't going to bitch since there was no cost for it. after that, i went to Meijer. it was a little more crowded than i would have liked. but, i did find what i was looking for.

the Yankees won last night at home against Boston, 5-4. Aaron Judge ended his long home run drought. his grand slam was the difference in the game.

they are currently up in today's game, 1-0.

 i'm thinking of the Tyler Childers line about a little cocaine when the wind cut cold... fuck, it felt like winter today. and the wind was fierce. blew over my fucking recycling container. i just put the shit back in it and put it back in the garage. i wasn't going to babysit it until they came in the afternoon. at least it will be full next week. grocery shopping was tedious today. thankfully, nothing blew away as i was trying to load groceries in the Highlander. got everything on the list and kept it under $200. good times.

the New York Rangers lost last night at home to Winnipeg, 4-2. it is beyond obvious that the Rangers will need to be healthy when they play in the playoffs if they want to make a deep run. and, please play Matt Rempe. there is no point to having him watch from the press box when he isn't suspended.

 so, i made a little money on the NFL playoff game last night. i would have made more, but that bum Mike Evans, as usual, couldn't catch a damn cold when he needed to. that dropped pass in the 4th quarter basically cost me $65. oh well. at least Tampa lost last night to Dallas, 31-14.

 so, today was cut down day in the NFL. i was not happy when i saw the news today of the Saints trade with the Eagles. but, i do understand that the NFL is a business. i'm just hoping this isn't one of those trades that comes back to bite them in the ass.

the Yankees lost last night to the Angels, 4-3. Judge hit his 50th home run last night. he joins Ruth and Mantle as the only Yankees to ever hit 50 in a season twice. the lead in the division is down to 7 games.

i think the heat is finally going to break...

 so, mom didn't go to physical therapy yesterday. she was getting ready to shower and she got lightheaded and i was thankfully right there to help her. i called and told them she wasn't feeling well. i think in this heat, if she doesn't get plenty of sleep, she is useless. she was trying to get dressed yesterday and falling asleep while doing so. so, after she got a few hours, i went and got her birthday meal. of course, it was chicken wings from Pizza Hut. that seemed to make her happy. 

the New York Yankees won last night over Tampa, 2-1. the Yankees are now 47-16 on the season. they start a series tonight in Toronto.

these are the days cocaine was invented for i do believe...

 so, i decided i was going to be stupid today and get everything fucking done. this morning, i went to the bank to make a deposit, to the UPS store to return an item to Amazon.com for my mother and then i did the shopping at the local grocery store. after i got home, i went through the baseball cards i got at Rite Aid. there was about $20 worth in the $5 box. that made me happy. then, it was time to take mom to the doctor's appointment to get her stitches in her chest removed. her lip isn't healing as fast as the doctor thought it would be, so she has to go back in 2 weeks. thankfully, that appointment lasted all of 10 minutes. i took mom back home and then it was time to go to Kroger. well, i was going to get gas there, but the line for that was out to the road. so, i decided to just get the groceries. judging from where i parked, i knew the store was fucking packed. sure enough, it was. i was able to get everything on the list except for fucking bananas. i couldn't believe they were all out of bananas. after waiting in the checkout line for over 30 minutes, i finally made it out of the store. i raced back home to get my frozen shit into the freezer since for some fucking reason, it is 60 degrees today. more on that in a bit. so, after i got the groceries put away, i made my second trip to the local grocery store to get bananas and the veggie dip my mother forgot to put on the list. thankfully, the local store had both. while in line there, the woman in front of me asked the cashier if she remembered the blizzard in 1978. the cashier said yes. the woman then asked if she remembered the day before. the cashier said no and the woman said it was like 60 degrees, sort of like today. in my head, i started to laugh as earlier when i was at Kroger, i was bitching to my sister about all the people and how it better be a fucking blizzard if we get this damn storm. i ended up getting gas at the Speedway in town and then, finally, was done for the day. of course, i have to get this blog done, feed the birds, get the trash out and get a couple of checks in the mailbox before i am truly done for the day. i don't know if i need the cocaine or a morphine drip. this is when that silver spoon would have come in really handy.

the last day of 2021

 so, i woke up this morning with a poem on my lips. i had the first line or so come to me in a dream i guess. i did get it written and typed up this morning. i figure it is the last poem i will write this year. i know i didn't get what i wanted to get done in 2021 done, mostly because i wasn't expecting my mother to nearly die and i would have to take up so much of my time to take care of her. but, i do think i did a decent job of juggling everything and getting something out there in the poetic world. i think that will become my new normal, at least for the time being.

i did watch plenty of college football last night. i will do the same today as well. the college football playoff semifinals are today. i'm hoping the games will be good.

i did get some football cards at Rite Aid yesterday. 2 boxes that costed me $10. thanks to a gold Trevor Lawrence card that goes for $18, there was about $40 worth of cards between the boxes. that's a good way to end 2021.

i was home in time to watch the Manchester United game against Burnley. United won 3-1.

welcome to the weekend...

 so, mom canceled her appointment this morning. she wasn't feeling great. i let her sleep until noon and then basically told her to get the fuck up. good times. 

we spent last night trying to figure out what the fuck we are doing for Thanksgiving. turkey and ham have way too much sodium, so we're trying to figure out stuff that all of us will like and mom can actually eat. i think we settled on ribs and a bunch of low sodium more or less vegetarian sides. now, i have to find rolls and some other shit as well. my sister said she will bring me a plate back from our cousin's Thanksgiving. like i need more food, but oh well.

the New York Rangers lost last night in Toronto, 2-1. just one of those nights where they couldn't get enough past the other goalie. it happens. they are off until Sunday now.

i did watch some of the NFL game last night. the Patriots beat the Falcons, 25-0. seeing the score pissed me off even more, wondering how the fuck the Saints lost to Atlanta.
