so, in some ways, 2024 was the year my writing finally hit the next level. the book i did with Casey Renee Kiser, Altered States of The Unflinching Souls, is something i am really proud of. you can still get a copy by going here:
i was nominated for a Best of the Net by Disturbing the Universe Magazine. and, for the first time in my life, i was nominated for the Pushcart Prize by The Rye Whiskey Review.
plus, John Patrick Robbins, the editor of The Rye Whiskey Review, and i are toying around with the thought of me doing a book in 2025 for his press.
add in me finally doing a few new SoundCloud tracks, and i truly hope this is a sign of things to come...
Manchester United lost 2-0 yesterday at home to Newcastle. honestly, it never felt that close. United, for the first time in my life, are in a relegation battle. hopefully, the players figure that out soon and start giving a shit again.
the New York Rangers lost last night at Florida, 5-3.
Monday Night Raw was really good last night. the show, for the first time in 32 years, will start on Netflix next week.
the NFL game last night was crazy. Detroit won at the 49ers, 40-34.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be NXT and Hard Knocks.
the Dayton Flyers play this afternoon at home against LaSalle.
team USA takes on Canada tonight at the World Juniors. winner wins the group.
the college football playoffs start back up tonight. Boise State takes on Penn State.
i need to go grocery shopping today and it is raining. joy.
Orkin came by last night and put two traps up in the attic. they could tell the squirrels are up there. they couldn't see anyplace where they are getting in and out of. hopefully, the traps will work. Orkin is supposed to be out later this week to check on them.
i should be on here tomorrow before the Ohio State vs. Oregon game in the Rose Bowl.
if you are going out to party tonight, please be safe.
i hope your 2024 was better than mine.
until 2025 my friends...

well, the final day of 2023 is finally upon us. i am so ready for this year to be over. don't get me wrong, i think i did make some great strides with my writing in 2023, but i am at the point of my life now where i get no comfort out of looking back.
Manchester United lost yesterday at Nottingham Forest, 2-1. i really hope 2024 will be better for this team. hopefully, with new people running the team, it will be.
the Dayton Flyers won yesterday at home over Longwood, 78-69. now it is time for A-10 play.
the New York Rangers won last night at Tampa Bay, 5-1.
the NFL game last night was crazy. Dallas won over Detroit, 20-19, thanks to the officials.
the USA defeated Slovakia this morning at the World Juniors, 10-2, to win Group B.
here are your NBA highlights from last night:
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be The Curse and Power Book III: Raising Kanan.
the New Orleans Saints play today at Tampa Bay.
i'm sure i will watch plenty of football today.
i have no plans for tonight, as usual. i have no clue what i'll be watching when the clock strikes midnight.
if you are going out tonight, be safe. have fun.
i do hope that all of you had a great Saturday. i hope your Sunday will be even better.
and i hope all of us have a great 2024.
a big thank you to everyone for checking out my latest published poems:
so, i woke up this morning with a poem on my lips. i had the first line or so come to me in a dream i guess. i did get it written and typed up this morning. i figure it is the last poem i will write this year. i know i didn't get what i wanted to get done in 2021 done, mostly because i wasn't expecting my mother to nearly die and i would have to take up so much of my time to take care of her. but, i do think i did a decent job of juggling everything and getting something out there in the poetic world. i think that will become my new normal, at least for the time being.
i did watch plenty of college football last night. i will do the same today as well. the college football playoff semifinals are today. i'm hoping the games will be good.
NXT UK was another best of last night.
here are your NBA highlights from last night.
the grocery shopping yesterday was crazy. it took forever, but i did get everything on the list.
i did get some football cards at Rite Aid yesterday. 2 boxes that costed me $10. thanks to a gold Trevor Lawrence card that goes for $18, there was about $40 worth of cards between the boxes. that's a good way to end 2021.
i was home in time to watch the Manchester United game against Burnley. United won 3-1.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be AEW Rampage and Chillin Island. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on Peacock.
i'll probably be flipping between CNN and NBC around midnight or so.
the New York Rangers play tonight at Tampa Bay. i'd love to see the Rangers win tonight.
it has been really dreary this morning. the sun is trying to shine now, but struggling at best.
i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow.
i hope everyone has a great New Year's Eve. be safe if you are going out to party. be careful if your dumb ass is trying to drive home drunk. but most of all, have fun.

i am so ready for 2020 to be over. i'm not sure if that's the pain talking or the naive fucker inside of me that thinks 2021 is going to be better.
so, just before the Dayton game last night, i saw that Chase Johnson was leaving the team for the second time in 2 years. i'm hoping he gets his health in order and shit, but it is a little funny that this has happened after the end of the first semester 2 years in a row. on top of that, two other players were injured and weren't going to be able to play against LaSalle. that meant that their new player from Finland, Mustapha Amzil, was not only going to be making his collegiate debut in the game, he was going to be starting. now, he was probably the only Dayton player i couldn't be mad at, mostly because he scored 22 points in the game and was the only fucking player on Dayton that looked like he cared. Dayton lost last night to a fucking horrible LaSalle team, 67-65. that was the first time LaSalle won at Dayton since 1999. the more i type about it, all the shit i felt last night keeps coming up. so yeah, they play against George Mason on Saturday at home. if they play like they did last night, they will lose again.
AEW last night was very emotional. they gave probably the best tribute show i have ever seen last night for the memory of Brodie Lee. i cried for nearly the whole damn show.
NXT was very good last night.
i did catch a little of the World Juniors last night.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
nothing on the DVR tonight. i watched NXT UK this afternoon on WWE Network. it was a look back on 2020 and was pretty good.
i will be watching the USA vs. Sweden game tonight at the World Juniors. if either team wins in regulation, they win the group. it would be massive for the USA to win tonight. that would give them the "easier" game in the quarterfinal.
i'm sure i'll probably watch the ball drop tonight and be thankful this fucking year is over.
and i'm sure i'll probably text a few friends around midnight, although i'll probably be the only one awake.
it's painfully obvious that age is getting to all of us.
i should be on here tomorrow pretty early. if not, it will be after Manchester United plays a huge game against Aston Villa.
until tomorrow kids... be safe tonight and enjoy every second of it.

i won't miss this year, that's for sure. my biggest glimpse into my future came in 2019. poor health and a medical system built to fail while the rich get richer. as for a positive, my writing did become a touch more prolific, although at some point before i take my own life, i wouldn't mind getting nominated for a Pushcart Prize.
i wrote 9 poems while mom was doing her physical therapy yesterday. that gives me 61 for the month of December. not too bad.
i had to take mom to Lowe's this afternoon to get a new head for the faucet in the kitchen sink. thankfully, they had it. i went to the bank and made my final deposit for the year. and then i had to drive mom out to her bank in the county next to us to get some money out. there was a bit of snow/rain and howling winds all day today. joy.
the USA defeated Czech Republic yesterday, 4-3 in OT at the World Juniors. the USA finished second in the group. that means they will play Finland on Thursday in the quarterfinals.
the Dayton Flyers defeated North Florida last night, 77-59. Obi Toppin had 31 points last night, including 10 dunks. some of the dunks i still can't fucking believe. he's obviously going to the NBA next season, so i'm going to try to enjoy this season at Dayton as much as possible. thankfully, the non-conference schedule is over now. hopefully, this will be the season Dayton wins the A-10.
Monday Night Raw was fucking crazy last night.

it's rather appropriate that it has been raining all fucking day today. last i checked, we were at 1.7 inches of rain. i won't be shocked if there is another inch or so by the time i check again.
i'm not really going to miss 2018. while it was probably my best year for writing and getting published... i'll remember the year more for two of my best friends ever deciding they would rather be cunts than continue to be friends with me. that has brought on a little more of an introspective look at myself and my piss poor job at seeing these things coming. i do plan on some changes in 2019. more on that tomorrow.
Manchester United continued their great play under their new manager, defeating Bournemouth 4-1 yesterday. i absolutely love the way Paul Pogba is playing now.
the New Orleans Saints were rather uninspired yesterday and it showed. they lost to Carolina 33-14. now, the season they won the Super Bowl, they lost to Dallas, Tampa and Carolina that year. those are the same 3 teams they lost to this season as well. could just be a coincidence but i'd love for that to be a sign. the Saints are the 1 seed in the NFC and won't play again until Jan. 13th.
Ray Donovan was really good last night.
the finale of Escape at Dannemora was excellent last night. i do feel like the show is going to win some awards for sure.

nothing on the DVR tonight. i will watch most or at least some of Monday Night Raw tonight.
the New York Rangers play tonight in St. Louis. maybe the boys will surprise me again tonight.
team USA plays Finland tonight at the World Juniors. i'll probably be watching that as the ball drops tonight. i'd love to see the USA win. i'll probably watch some of Canada vs. Russia before the USA game as well.
so mom had me go to the grocery store to get her pills today. i couldn't believe how fucking long the line was for prescriptions. and after standing in line for almost a hour, i couldn't believe i hadn't made it up to the counter. thankfully, all her pills were ready and i was able to get out of there before my blood sugar really dropped. of course, i also had to pick up lunch, so there's nothing like a late lunch around 4 PM.
i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow. it will probably be long before Ohio State plays in the Rose Bowl.
i hope everyone had a great weekend. if you are partying tonight, stay safe. i hope the weather is better wherever you are. and i wish all of you a healthy and happy 2019.

well, we've come to the end of another year. much like i expected, the chaos in the country and government have been a boon to my writing. this has easily been my most productive year as a writer. i'm hoping to have some concrete plans in place sometime in 2018 for a new book, some new videos on YouTube, some new recordings on Soundcloud, and if i happen to get a wild hair up my ass, i'm thinking of doing an album of spoken word recordings and releasing that on Bandcamp. now, let's see if my lazy ass does any of that shit in the next year or not.
the Dayton Flyers lost yesterday at Duquesne 70-62. for some damn reason, this team can't finish a half strong, be it the first or second half. Dayton had the lead early and then blew that by halftime. Dayton had the lead in the second half and then only scored 1 more point for the rest of the game. it could just be how young they are or it could be a coach that simply doesn't know what the fuck he is doing right now. and i love all the Anthony Grant apologists that are coming to his defense with the old wait until he gets all of his players in here excuse. if they still suck in 3 years, i hope they all understand just how much they were wrong.
Manchester United played a listless 0-0 draw yesterday against Southampton. Lukaku got stretchered off in the first half and he will miss at least the next 2 games. Zlatan is out for a month, so i guess that means any goal scoring is going to have to come from Rashford or Martial. i would put down Pogba but they have him playing so far from the goal that i refuse to be delusional about him scoring again this season. sadly, this season has now turned into a struggle to stay in the top 4. great.
ROH last night was a look back at some of the matches from 2017.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be Shameless and the season finale of SMILF.
the New Orleans Saints can win their division today with a win at Tampa Bay. with a little luck, they could even get a higher seed if they win. they haven't won the division since 2011.
team USA plays Finland today at the World Juniors. a victory will give them second place in the group. anything else and they will have a tougher game in the quarterfinals.
i believe it was somewhere around -7 when i went out to get the paper this morning. i won't be going outside again today.
i'm not sure what the hell i'll be doing at midnight tonight. if it's like most of my adult years, i'll have a beverage in one hand and plenty of poetic thoughts in my head. the sad thing, the only kiss i have ever had at midnight of a new year was from a guy. not that there's anything wrong with that, but watching that shit after the ball drops is probably why most of my poems that start off a new year are bitter as fuck.
as always, i hope everyone has a great New Year's Eve. drive safely, party hard and live with no regrets.

2015 will be remembered by me as the year my biggest obstacle to actually enjoying life finally left this earth. my father, his demons, and every little nugget of hate he poured into me finally had the chance to be erased from my brain when he died in late April. now i'm pretty sure it will take the rest of my life to un-fuck him from my brain, but at least the possibility of hope now exists. of course, i still haven't been to the graveside yet, so i'm not 100% sure that fucker is in the ground. and since the calls have stopped asking me to pay his bills, i am 100% sure that he left me absolutely nothing, if he even had a will. maybe when i turn 40 i'll have an exorcism and see if suddenly my life will turn around. it surely wouldn't hurt anything.
i will also remember 2015 as the year i left the farm i so dearly loved to move next door to the parents of the cousin that molested me. my mother did apologize to me the other day in a peculiar kind of way for never doing anything when i told her about what happened. of course, she did it while telling me that my sister is worried i'm going to kill her one day because she didn't do anything. i wasn't sure if i should take that as a compliment that my sister thinks i'm capable or be insulted that she thinks it's even possible. i would kill myself before i would kill any of my family, except maybe for a certain person or two.
and lastly, 2015 will be remembered as the year my writing and this blog took, what i would like to believe, is a giant leap forward. while i haven't been as prolific with my writing as in previous years, i do believe my writing is better. i attribute that to doing this everyday. it not only keeps my brain active, it also flushes out other things that eventually end up in poems. feel free to use the contact form to tell me otherwise.
now, onto the crazy happenings from last night...
when the Dayton Flyers were up by over 20 points early last night, i reminded myself that there is no fucking chance it's going to be this easy. when Arkansas was leading in the second half, i figured that Dayton would come back. when Dayton forgot to foul when up by 3 points with 4 seconds left and Arkansas hit the 3 to send the game to overtime, i was pretty sure Dayton was going to fucking lose this game. when Arkansas was up by 4 in OT, i was really worried. when Dayton kept missing foul shots after somehow getting the lead back, i was hoping they wouldn't piss away another lead. thankfully, they didn't. Dayton won 85-81 in OT. that was coach Archie Miller's 100th win at the school. Dayton is now 10-2 and start the A10 schedule this Saturday at Duquesne.
so while at Waffle House after the game, and this pretty much sums up my life, we were getting ready to leave and this stunning looking woman walked in. now stunning from where i live is someone who's probably a 6 or 7 in the regular world. i kept trying to make eye contact, but it never happened. i really need to get a damn vehicle so i can actually go places by myself again. rather, i need mom to get herself a new vehicle so i can have the one she has now.
we didn't get home until after midnight. i turned on the NHL Network to check out the New York Rangers highlights. much to my surprise, they beat Tampa last night 5-2. i was really, REALLY happy about that.
sick hands from Dom on that winning goal from last night.
i woke up this morning in plenty of time to catch team USA beat Denmark 4-1 in the World Juniors over in Finland. the New York Rangers goalie prospect Brandon Halverson started the game and was really solid in net. the boys finished in second place in the group. they will play the Czech Republic on Jan. 2nd. they have to win that game to advance to have the chance to bring home a medal.
enjoy some music kids:
and now some of this and that:
the rest of today is going to be about football and drinking. i have a few victory beers to catch up on and the college football playoff is today. i have no clue who is going to win the national championship this year. since Ohio State isn't playing for it, i really don't care.
tomorrow is going to be a busy one as well. Ohio State plays Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl.
the Winter Classic is also tomorrow, as the Boston Bruins take on the Montreal Canadiens outdoors in Boston. i always try to catch some of that.
so i imagine i'll be on here sometime tomorrow, maybe in the early evening. i always try to do some writing as well on the first day of a new year. of course, that usually happens in the early morning hours while drunk, so i might have an update for you by waiting to the evening to blog.
i hope everyone has a great night. if you have already celebrated 2016 coming in, i hope you are safe and happy. if you are planning on going out tonight to party, be safe, call if you need bail money. and if you are like me and have no one to celebrate the ball dropping with a kiss, grab a bottle of lotion and remember the time you were in a car in a public park at 6 in the morning with one of the most beautiful women that would ever talk back to you. that has worked for me for the last 18 years.
most of all, enjoy another year gone. soon we'll all be dead. might as well live it up while we're here.

today has been a pretty sad day. as much as i am a fan of death, i am really a fan of people dying that i don't like or admire. now, when it's someone old, i get it, it's time. but when someone passes before their 70's, it really hits me. so, when i heard today that Otto Petersen died at 53, i was gutted. and if you don't know who Otto is, shame on you for not being in the know of great comedians. do yourself a favor and look up Otto & George and laugh your ass off.
i've spent most of today listening to music and watching old videos.
the Yankees won last night 3-2, to take 3 of 4 from the Red Sox.
the Sunday night shows were excellent and i actually made it through all of them.
tonight will be the Ultimate Warrior tribute episode of Monday Night Raw and The Voice.
the weather has been on this slow decline today. it was damn near 80 yesterday and by tonight it will be in the 20's. hopefully the cats will be thankful that i closed up the 2 stalls they use.
i'll be on here tomorrow, hopefully in a better mood.
be well my enemies...

Arcade Fire - Wake Up
Deer Tick - Goodbye, Dear Friend
Exitmusic - The Cold
JJ Grey & Mofro - This River
The Delta Riggs - Anybody Home
Metallica - Bleeding Me
AFI - Silver and Cold
Gary Jules - Mad World
i'll work myself backwards here. just got in from feeding the cats, taking out the trash, etc. i figured while i was outside, i might as well look for my cat, Langston Hughes. i checked all the places the cats usually hide when they are having kittens. no luck. then, i checked all the places where i have found dead cats before. no luck in those places either. sadly, i do believe the cat may be gone. i'll do what i did with all the others, give it 30 days. if Langston doesn't show up by then, i'll sadly have to admit that she's gone.
thankfully, Manchester United won this morning 2-0. it was so nice to see Robin van Persie score again. been way too long. only 7 more points to go to clinch the 20th league title.
i did enjoy Saturday Night Live and ROH tv last night. or, at least what i remember watching of them. the events prior to that drained me.
Louis C.K. new HBO special was hilarious. i laughed my ass off the entire time. thankfully the New York Rangers game and the college hockey national championship game both got done in time for me to watch from the start.
congrats to Yale for winning the college hockey national championship.
the New York Rangers had a playoff type victory over the Islanders last night 1-0, in OT. Hank picked a nice place to get his first shutout of the season. highlights below:
the victory beer tasted oh so sweet after that one.
The Yankees got some shitty, shitty, pitching yesterday from Phil Hughes and lost 5-3. the bullpen did great after Phil dug quite the hole. maybe a few clutch hits along the way and the Yankees could have come all the way back, but it was not meant to be. they play the Sunday night game tonight on ESPN. i'll flip between that and Veep on HBO and Nurse Jackie on Showtime.
the poet of the day on my Google+ page is Leah Angstman. it's hard to believe that i've known Leah for damn near 20 years. she's quite the publisher, poet, future novelist, etc. do check out her work if you get the chance. a good place to start is her website: http://leahangstman.blogspot.com/
i'll be glued to hockey stats all evening as i'm oh so close to pulling off a fucking miracle in fantasy hockey. hopefully i will have great news on that front tomorrow.
hope everyone has a great end of the weekend. the weather has warmed here and the winds have died down. might actually open a window this afternoon as golf puts me to sleep.
music today:
Nine Inch Nails - With_Teeth
The Gospel Whiskey Runners - Hold On
