so, in some ways, 2024 was the year my writing finally hit the next level. the book i did with Casey Renee Kiser, Altered States of The Unflinching Souls, is something i am really proud of. you can still get a copy by going here:
i was nominated for a Best of the Net by Disturbing the Universe Magazine. and, for the first time in my life, i was nominated for the Pushcart Prize by The Rye Whiskey Review.
plus, John Patrick Robbins, the editor of The Rye Whiskey Review, and i are toying around with the thought of me doing a book in 2025 for his press.
add in me finally doing a few new SoundCloud tracks, and i truly hope this is a sign of things to come...
Manchester United lost 2-0 yesterday at home to Newcastle. honestly, it never felt that close. United, for the first time in my life, are in a relegation battle. hopefully, the players figure that out soon and start giving a shit again.
the New York Rangers lost last night at Florida, 5-3.
Monday Night Raw was really good last night. the show, for the first time in 32 years, will start on Netflix next week.
the NFL game last night was crazy. Detroit won at the 49ers, 40-34.

Orkin came by last night and put two traps up in the attic. they could tell the squirrels are up there. they couldn't see anyplace where they are getting in and out of. hopefully, the traps will work. Orkin is supposed to be out later this week to check on them.
i should be on here tomorrow before the Ohio State vs. Oregon game in the Rose Bowl.

i just got an email from Skaja from Disturb the Universe Magazine to let me know my poem "a good dramatic goodbye" has been nominated for 2025 Best of the Net. this is the third time i have been nominated.
so, i was going through my emails this morning and saw one from John at The Rye Whiskey Review. he emailed me to let me know he has nominated my poem "under a cherry moon" for Best of the Net. i believe this is the third time i have been nominated in my 25 years as a published poet. if you are interested in reading that poem again, you can find it here:
the Yankees came from behind last night and defeated Toronto, 6-2. that cuts the magic number down to 2. they have a 2 game lead over Boston and Seattle. Toronto is one game behind those teams. this should be a crazy fucking final weekend for baseball. the Yankees start a series tonight at home against Tampa. if they win tonight and Boston or Seattle lose, they are in the playoffs.

Dark Side of the Ring was about FMW and Onita last night. i warned my mother before she started watching it, that there would be a ton of blood, barbed wire and crazy shit. i think the warning helped her.

i did see a little of the Bengals last second win over the Jaguars. i sure hope Urban Meyer is making a ton of money. losing doesn't look good on him.
