wishing isn't the same as getting

i really thought there was going to be some upsets last night in the NCAA tournament. sadly, that didn't really happen. at least, that is how i'm explaining going 11-7 on night 2.

Smackdown was very good last night.

Real Time with Bill Maher was hilarious last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be AEW Collision.

the Dayton Flyers play today at Chattanooga in the NIT.

the New York Rangers play this afternoon at home against Vancouver.

and of course, plenty of college basketball today.

i took mom to downtown Dayton yesterday to get some death certificates. i hadn't been downtown in years. but, eventually, muscle memory kicked in. after that, we got some McDonald's for lunch.

i wrote 2 poems last night so i could send that submission out. they both were good but quite the struggle to write. joy.

i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow.

i hope everyone has a great weekend.

trying to sleep during a tornado warning...

so, we had some storms rumble through here last night. i didn't get to sleep until the big line of thunderstorms that produced tornados got through the area. once i didn't hear any sirens, i knew i could go to sleep. but shit, i was up 3 hours later to put the trash out. it was probably 40 fucking degrees colder today than it was yesterday. good times.

the cover to our phone box outside on the house blew off in the storm. thankfully, the guy from Spectrum actually found it in the field behind us and bolted it on so it wouldn't come off again. Luke was probably the best Spectrum worker we have ever had out here. we also lost a wind chime in the storm. i found most of that in the yard. it was too mangled to try to save, so that went in the trash.

grocery shopping was a bit of a chore today. good news i guess, i think i have lost weight. my only clue was my pants kept falling down. good times. i got everything on the list and was home a little later than i wanted to be. but, i did get to watch most of the second half of the Manchester United game.

United was playing at Nottingham Forest today in the FA Cup. winner goes to the quarterfinals. thankfully, United won it late on a Casemiro header to win 1-0. the reward is to play Liverpool in the next round. great.

the Dayton Flyers won last night at home against Davidson, 80-66.

here are your videos for this day of Black History Month:

The Voice was good last night.

NXT was very good last night.

both episodes of Shogun were fucking amazing last night. i highly recommend this show to everyone.

enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be AEW Dynamite and Abbott Elementary.

the New York Rangers play at home tonight against Columbus. i really hope the Rangers win tonight.

i wasn't using that hour anyway...

i got all the clocks set last night except for the one in the Highlander. mom always has that one set twenty minutes fast so we're never late anywhere. i figure i might change that if i go out somewhere today. i was hoping to meet up with a friend later today but she hasn't texted me back yet.

well, let me begin with the Ohio State at Rutgers game from yesterday. i only got to see the highlights of it, but i figured they would struggle as i don't think they are the kind of team that knows how to handle success easily. but, a win is a win, 35-16.

WWE Crown Jewel was very good yesterday.

the New York Rangers lost last night at Minnesota, 5-4, in a shootout. they pissed away a 3-0 lead last night, so that pissed me off. but, at least they got a point out of the game.

FC Cincinnati won on penalty kicks last night to advance in the MLS playoffs.

i did watch a few college football games yesterday:

here are your NBA highlights from last night:

AEW Collision was good last night.

the baseball cards i got yesterday were very good. the highlight for me at least was the 1964 Topps Willie Mays / Orlando Cepeda card.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Big Brother, Power Book IV: Force, Shining Vale, Last Week Tonight and Fellow Travelers.

the New Orleans Saints play at home today against Chicago. hopefully, they will find a way to win.

hard to believe that college basketball starts back up tomorrow. i had to give up my Dayton Flyers season tickets. that was a tough decision to make but i knew i couldn't afford them anymore. plus, as i have told mom, now that we don't have the tickets, they will probably do something magical this season.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. i hope your Sunday will be even better.

i have no clue when i will be on here on Monday.

it feels like the rain will never stop...

it started raining late last night and over 12 hours later, still is. between my pinched nerves and my arthritis, today has been a fresh slice of hell. good times.

i did write 4 poems today while i was in the parking lot where mom does her physical therapy. she told me to just wait in the Highlander so i wouldn't get wet. i typed the 4 poems up this afternoon. i think they are really good.

the USA women's hockey team lost to Canada last night, 3-2.

Celebrity Big Brother was good last night. Todd is the new HOH.

I Can See Your Voice was pretty good last night.

AEW was great last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight. i'll watch NXT UK sometime tonight on Peacock.

the New York Rangers play at home tonight against Detroit. hopefully the boys will get a win.

the USWNT takes on Czech Republic tonight to open the 2022 SheBelieves Cup. that will be on ESPN tonight at 11.

i have my eye doctor's appointment tomorrow. after that, i need to swing by Rite Aid and pick up my prescription. i may stop into Meijer before i go to Rite Aid and see what they have.

i should start the blog once i get back home. probably early afternoon.

hard to believe

30 years ago i remember buying Nevermind by Nirvana at the Salem Mall. hell, that mall doesn't even exist anymore. it was one of the albums that influenced me more than anything else in this world. and i happened to get it right as poetry was slowly taking over my life. i can remember the lyrics to those songs to this day. and i'm pretty sure Kurt Cobain influenced my writing just as much as Bukowski and Burroughs or Ginsberg did. so, today has been one of those nostalgia mind fucks and a sad reminder that Kurt isn't here to see this.

Vice News Tonight has another great week of shows.

Big Brother went as i hoped last night. Big D evicted Kyland and he was shocked. of course, he then started to talk shit about Xavier to his face and i was waiting for Xavier to lose his cool and deck the fucker. so now the final 3 is a King and two Jokers. almost fucking literally.

the season finale of Holey Moley was crazy last night.

NXT UK was really good last night.

What We Do in the Shadows was very funny last night.

Dark Side of the Ring was about Chris Kanyon last night. i remember watching that guy back in WCW and being amazed at his moves for his size.

The Masked Singer was crazy as usual last night.

Alter Ego was crazy as well last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Big Brother, Smackdown, AEW Rampage, Real Time with Bill Maher, The Shop and Back On the Record with Bob Costas. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on Peacock.

the Yankees start a critical series tonight at Boston. if they can win the series, they will greatly increase the chances of them making the playoffs.

since Manchester United plays early as fuck tomorrow, i will probably write the blog after their game with Aston Villa. hopefully, i will be happy.

i hope everyone has a great weekend.

the weather here has been damn near perfect today. i was able to open up the house and let it air out some. i waited until it was a little warmer since we started out in the 40's today. i'm hoping it stays like this all weekend.

maybe i can get some sleep now...

my mother had her oxygen tank (for lack of a better word) delivered here last night. the guy who brought it and set it up was really nice. he explained things very clearly. mom has to use it every night while she is sleeping. thankfully, it doesn't make much noise. she said she felt pretty good last night. we have to figure out all her foods and how much she can have. but, i'm sure we'll get the feel for that before too long.

Saturday Night Live was pretty funny last night.

Austin City Limits was an old episode last night with Willie Nelson.

ROH was pretty good last night.

here are your links for this day of Black History Month:

enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be Axios, Allen v. Farrow, Last Week Tonight, Batwoman, The Luminaries, Shameless and Desus & Mero. i'll be watching WWE Elimination Chamber for most of the evening.

Manchester United plays later today at home. the game is Peacock, so i'll have to follow along on my phone. hopefully, they will get a victory today.

the USWNT takes on Brazil today in the SheBelieves Cup.

i'm sure i'll probably watch some college basketball today as well.

and maybe a little outdoor hockey...

i have no idea when i will be on here tomorrow. i think mom has some home healthcare people coming or calling or both tomorrow. i know her endless parade to the doctors starts on Tuesday.

like finding a little gold...

so, i spent a good portion of yesterday going through my old baseball cards. holy shit. i forgot about so many of the cards i already had. and i nearly shit myself when i found a Ken Griffey Jr. rookie card i forgot about, let alone the Jack Morris rookie card. when i looked up what that is going for these days, i nearly screamed. so yeah, i think i have the bug again.

while doing that, i also got my laundry done and i wrote and typed up 5 poems.

Austin City Limits was very good last night. it was the episode that had H.E.R. on it. hopefully, i won't delete it this time.

ROH was really good last night.

Yvonne Orji: Momma, I Made It was hilarious last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR today will be Shelter in Place with Shane Smith, VICE, Billions, Penny Dreadful: City of Angels, Be Water, I Know This Much Is True, Insecure, I May Destroy You, Last Week Tonight and Hightown. i'll be watching NXT Takeover: In Your House for most of the evening.

i will be on here tomorrow sometime after my doctor's appointment. it's really just a nurse visit to get the shot i was supposed to get back in April, but i have no clue if that is all they are really going to do or not.

i told mom to make sure she tells me if she needs anything while i'm out since i will be pretty close to the Meijer i shop at. at the very least, that will give me the chance to see if i can find any 2020 Bowman baseball cards.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. i hope your Sunday will be even better.

i guess 4 hours is all i will get...

i got around 4 hours of sleep last night in my massage chair. i think it would take a fucking coma to have me catch up on all the sleep i've lost over the years.

Monday Night Raw was really good last night.

The New Pope was excellent last night.

McMillion$ was great last night.

Desus & Mero was hilarious last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be WWE Backstage and Ali & Cavett: The Tale of the Tapes.

the Dayton Flyers play tonight at home against Rhode Island. Dayton is 10-0 in the A10 this year. Rhode Island is 10-1. plus, Obi Toppin's brother Jacob plays for Rhode Island. tonight should be a really good game. i really hope Dayton plays its best game of the season tonight. they will probably need it.

the New York Rangers play tonight on the road at Winnipeg. the trade deadline is under 2 weeks away. this little road trip should make up the team's mind regarding to sell or buy at the deadline.

that's pretty much all for me kids. i need to get the trash picked up, take a shower, hopefully sneak in a nap and then go to the game.

i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow.

apparently, i used all my sleep up in a different life...

i got to bed at a decent hour last night. of course, it was raining just hard enough that i woke up every 35 minutes or so. joy. around 6:30, i decided to fuck it and just get up. i knew my sister was leaving early, so i figured i would see her off. she was going down south for a charity walk with her friends. i made some coffee, had breakfast, checked emails and wanted to write this blog then. my back was killing me, so i decided to go ice my back down in the massage chair. i finally got almost 80 minutes of painless sleep there. as i told my sister last night, the pain is getting to the point where i'm going to have to start using weed or heroin or something to ease it. good times.

the New York Yankees won again last night over Houston, 4-1. that's 7 wins in a row. hopefully, they can keep it going tonight.

i did watch a good portion of the first round of the NHL Draft last night. the New York Rangers got exactly who i was hoping for. i'll pay attention a little bit to the rest of the draft today, mostly because i think the Rangers might be trading a few players to get a little more salary cap space for a certain Russian winger that played in Columbus last season.

Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows.

NJPW was really good last night.

Real Time with Bill Maher was pretty funny last night.

Los Espookys was fucking hilarious last night.

i did watch a little of the Gold Cup last night. here are your scores:
El Salvador vs. Jamaica finished 0-0 and Curacao upset Honduras last night, 1-0.

tonight, Guyana takes on Panama and the USA will be looking for some fucking revenge against Trinidad & Tobago. i will be watching that tonight.

as for the Women's World Cup, Germany is currently leading Nigeria 2-0 at halftime. i do plan on watching some of Norway vs. Australia later this afternoon.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be ROH.

i will hopefully have a couple victory drinks tonight and hoping that will ease the pain from the storms we're supposed to have at some point this evening.

i hope everyone has a great Saturday. call if you need bail money.

i will hopefully be on here tomorrow before Old Timer's Day at Yankee Stadium.

oh yeah, for those that are wondering, of course we didn't use the new oven last night. my mother sent my sister to go get some BBQ from Old Hickory in town.

at least the sun finally decided to show up...

we did have some storms move into the area last night. a county or so north of us had a tornado, so of course the local channels went to that coverage. thankfully, that didn't happen until the series finale of Gotham was over. but, that also meant i didn't get to see Life in Pieces last night. so, i'll have to find that on demand sometime this weekend i guess.

i did watch most of the first round of the NFL Draft last night. i'll probably watch most of the draft tonight as well. i'm hoping the New Orleans Saints get some guys that can fill some holes.

the New York Yankees pissed away a 4-0 lead last night and lost to the Angels, 11-5. they start a series tonight at the San Francisco Giants.

The Big Bang Theory was excellent last night.

Young Sheldon was really good last night, although i didn't get to see the last couple minutes of it.

the series finale of Gotham was fucking great last night.

Better Things was really funny last night.

here are your videos for this day of National Poetry Month:

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, NJPW, Real Time with Bill Maher and Wyatt Cenac's Problem Areas.

i'll be flipping between playoff hockey, playoff basketball, baseball and the NFL Draft tonight.

the grocery store was fucking crowded as hell today. of course, the pharmacy didn't have everything ready that i called in. i wasn't in the mood to fucking wait, as i saw how fucking long they were taking with everything. i did manage to get everything on the list and keep it under $100.

of course, i'm not a big fan of eating lunch at 4:30 in the afternoon.

the guy for the windows was here at 9 this morning. i woke up at 8:55. joy. he did see exactly what mom was talking about with the windows. he insulated the spots better and didn't charge mom a thing for it. she was happy about that.

i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow. i'll shoot for the morning and then hope i get it done before the Yankees play in the afternoon.

having lost the ability to sleep well years ago...

i would love to actually sleep in one of these mornings. you know, something like a 10 to 12 hour coma, just to recharge the batteries. i sleep maybe a good 3 to 4 hours anymore. that's more or less, a glorified nap. my brain never shuts off. and eventually, i know i will have no choice but to allow the chaos inside of me to run the show and die from it. good times.

the Dayton Flyers lost last night at Auburn 82-72. Dayton had 23 turnovers in the game. that's a recipe for losing, that's for sure. other than that, Dayton was good enough to actually have a chance in the game. oh well.

the New York Rangers won last night over Florida, 5-4. the Rangers couldn't hold a lead worth a shit last night, so they had to win the game in the shootout.

Atlanta won the MLS Cup last night with a 2-0 win over Portland.

Saturday Night Live was pretty funny last night.

ROH was really good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be the finale of Enemies: The President, Justice and the FBI, Ray Donovan and Escape at Dannemora.

the New Orleans Saints play this afternoon in Tampa Bay. with a win today, the Saints will win the division. it would be the first time in franchise history they would win the division in back to back seasons.

after that is over, i'll probably get started on getting everything ready to take to the post office tomorrow. if you happen to be lucky enough to get something from me this year, check your mailboxes in the next few days.

i'm not sure if mom wants to start putting up the Christmas decorations today or not. she took down the Thanksgiving shit last night.

i'll probably be on here tomorrow after i get back from the post office.

life with a bad back...

there is no greater joy in my life than having my back seize up while i'm grocery shopping. and today was the perfect snapshot of my life. i'm over looking at fruits and vegetables and my back just seizes up like i was fucking shot with a machine gun. so there i am, standing frozen like an elderly person lost in thought when this totally amazing light skin black woman walks by. DAMN. the closest i think i have ever seen to perfection in this fucking state in 42 years. all i could think was this is the story of my life. right before i see beauty, i get a reminder that i'm closer to death with every fucking second. i did a quick crack of my back and swallowed deep, as the pain was fucking horrible. the rest of the time in the store was one where i had to dig deep to find the pleasure in the pain. if i have a tombstone, that is what is going on it... here lies J.J. Campbell, a two bit poet who found the pleasure in the pain.

i've spent a good portion of today dealing with some crazy white woman from TNT (Trinidad & Tobago) that is pissed off that i didn't reply to her comments on my poems. i guess i am supposed to check my published poems every single day like a compulsive asshole to see if anyone has left a comment. oh, these foolish assholes. as i have learned over the years, there is such joy in just blocking these people and removing the negativity from my life.

so, let's start this adventure yesterday afternoon. i was watching WWE Crown Jewel (more on that turd later) and mom handed me the phone because she was going to take a shower. i just happened to look at the phone and noticed there was some voice messages on it. i checked them and wouldn't you know, the Highlander was ready at 8:15 yesterday morning. neither one of us heard the phone. i told mom and we left to go get it.

WWE Crown Jewel was going good until Vince decided he couldn't help himself. he just had to give the fans the middle finger. i didn't mind Hulk Hogan hosting the show. i was never that big of a fan. but, when Shane McMahon ended up winning the Best in the World tournament, that put a taste in my mouth that soured everything in the show. just fucking awful.

we did go to see the Dayton Flyers play last night. first off, the part of the arena that is finished looks amazing. our new seats are going to take some getting used to. i like the fact that we don't have another row behind us. we're sitting in a corner now, so it's a completely different view of the court. i did like the fact that mom wasn't affected as much by the lights and sounds like in previous years. when the arena gets finished, it will look like a smaller version of Nationwide Arena in Columbus. as for the game, i do like this team better than last season. it seems to be a better mix of players. now, i have no clue who is going to be the backup point guard. the defense from Dayton last night really didn't get good until the second half. i think that was mostly due to Capital running out of gas. Dayton is very athletic but can't defend worth shit at most times. any success Dayton has this year will come from their defense being turned into easy buckets. now, i did like the fact that they seemed a little more fluid when it came to offense. i absolutely loved what i saw out of Jhery Matos and Obi Toppin. those two should have amazing first seasons with the team. Dayton won last night 89-71. i'll try to forget that Capital (i think a division III team) was in the lead for most of the first half.

after the game, we went to Waffle House. it wasn't bad when we were the only ones in there. and then came the high school kids. i quickly remembered why i don't like white people who have never spent anytime in their lives around anyone with any sense of another culture. good god, so fucking annoying. this is why i always thank my mother for keeping me in a black high school.

Real Time with Bill Maher was excellent last night.

the final episode of Pod Save America was really good last night.

NJPW was good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Saturday Night Live, Austin City Limits, ROH and Shut Up and Dribble.

i did get up this morning, after about 3 hours of sleep, to watch Manchester United play. thankfully, they came from behind today to defeat Bournemouth 2-1. i'll gladly take those 3 points.

after the game, i went to the grocery store. i had to get a ton of stuff today, mostly because i had a coupon that would give me $11 off if i spent at least $110. my goal is usually to keep everything under $100. so, i made sure to get some stuff that we would need, but maybe not right now; batteries, shit like that. plus, i had plenty of other coupons. the cashier nearly shit when he saw i saved over $64 on the groceries. let's just say we are stocked for a few weeks.

i was at the store when the Ohio State game started. good thing, as my mother said when i got home. today was one of those days Ohio Sate played down to its competition. that frustrates the living shit out of me. but, a victory is a victory. Ohio State defeated Nebraska, 36-31.

i will probably watch most of that LSU vs. Alabama game tonight. that should be, at least i'm hoping, a good one.

i have to remember to turn the clocks back tonight one hour. i hate people who say they get to sleep more with that. fuck you. it's another hour for me to write, explore my imagination, find more pleasure in the pain. and when one of you actually figures out what i mean by that, you'll understand me even more.

i will probably be on here tomorrow in the morning most likely. the New Orleans Saints don't play until 4:25, so i'll have plenty of time to get one done tomorrow morning.

i hope everyone has a great Saturday night. call if you need bail money.

Es como golpear un puño contra tus bolas y tener la necesidad de sonreír en lugar de llorar.

be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

peace and chicken grease...
