when it rains like this, just enough drizzle to make me miserable, i am fucking useless. my bad back and arthritis just grows and grows and grows with pain. fucking miserable.
there was a scene last night in the final episode of Hemingway that really hit home with me. when he said that when he couldn't write anymore, when the words were gone, he would commit suicide, i shed a tear. i have had the exact same conversation with myself for the last 20 years. all in all, just a damn good documentary. i highly recommend it.
the poet of the day for this day of National Poetry Month is Karina Bush. i am very happy to consider her a friend and one of the best poets alive today.
night 1 of NXT Takeover: Stand & Deliver was excellent. i hope night 2 will be even better tonight.
AEW was great last night as well.
The Masked Singer was crazy last night, but i guessed the Bulldog correctly.
Snowfall was fucking great last night.
the Yankees lost to the Orioles last night, 4-3 in 11 innings. they are off today and start a series down in that dump in Tampa tomorrow.

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Young Sheldon, B Positive, Clarice, The United States of Al, Cake and Desus & Mero. i'll be watching NXT tonight on Peacock. i already checked out NXT UK this afternoon.
Manchester United won today, 2-0. those two away goals should set them up to make the semi-finals of the Europa League.
the New York Rangers play tonight at home against Pittsburgh. i'd love to see another win like the last one.
i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow. i know i need to make a trip to Menards and i'm not sure if mom wants to go along or not. so, hopefully in the early afternoon or something like that.
until tomorrow kids...

so, i went to bed around 5 again this morning. up at 9, rinse, repeat, off to the grocery stores... i have been defeated by the mundane. good times.
the poet of the day for this day of National Poetry Month is Mather Schneider. yet another one that i have been published with for decades now, Mather knows how to lay down the words and keep you coming back for more...
the WWE Hall of Fame ceremonies last night were pretty good. it did feel a little long, but that was mostly due to the fact they were doing the 2020 and 2021 classes in the same night.
Hemingway was very good last night. i'm sure the finale tonight will be great as well.
Young Rock was pretty funny last night.
Kenan was very good last night.
Dark Side of the Ring: Confidential was about New Jack last night.
Mayans M.C. was fucking great last night.
the Yankees defeated the Orioles last night, 7-2. they will go for the sweep tonight.

i watched the first episode of that Hemingway documentary on PBS last night. it is truly fucking amazing. Hemingway is definitely one of many influences on my writing. and the first episode had some things in it that i had never known. i finished that at 2 in the morning. i think i might have got to bed sometime around 5. of course, i was up at 9 this morning because mom had physical therapy at 10. good times.
the poet of the day for this day of National Poetry Month is Luis Cuauhtemoc Berriozabal. i have been published with LCB for years and i have always enjoyed his work.
the Yankees defeated the Orioles last night, 7-0. hopefully they do the same thing tonight.

Manchester United came from behind yesterday (yet again) and defeated Brighton, 2-1. this greatly increases their chances of finishing in the top 4 of the Premier League this season.
the Yankees lost to Toronto yesterday, 3-1. they start a series at home tonight against Baltimore.
VICE was excellent last night.
Shameless was great last night. the series finale is next week.
City on a Hill was excellent last night.
Last Week Tonight was brilliant as usual.

i will probably watch some of the national championship game tonight between Baylor and Gonzaga.
i got my order of baseball cards from Repacked Wax today. i was absolutely thrilled with some of the cards i got... a 1970 Topps Willie Stargell, 3 cards from the 1960's, a 1975 Topps Joe Torre, a 1987 Donruss Barry Bonds rookie card and a 1981 Topps Phil Niekro. all in all, i think i got way more than what i paid for the 10 packs.
well, WrestleMania week starts tonight. the next 9 days or so are going to be full of wrestling. speaking of that, i did listen to episode 337 of Notsam Wrestling this morning. you can hear that by going here:
i did write 2 poems last night, including the first one i have written about my mother and her near death experience. i was amazed i was able to fit that on just two pages.
Easter dinner went well yesterday. mom got plenty of food from Bob Evans. enough that my sister, her friend and we will have plenty of leftovers for this week.
that's all for me kids.
i hope everyone had a great weekend.

every blue moon or so, we will have some wild turkeys show up at the farm. so when i was coming back from the post office and saw one out by the road, i didn't think anything of it. but, when i saw that same one up by the house a few hours later, alone and looking lost, i did wonder what the fuck is going on. hopefully it will get into the woods and find the others, or at the very least, get out of this heat. it's near 90 degrees today. no air moving at all. one of those days where you are wearing a coat of sweat within seconds. at least i'm not stoned today. i would have been convinced that turkey was coming for me.
the Yankees got the sweep yesterday, 3-2. they won in the bottom of the 9th on a botched pop up. that was about the only exciting part of the game. it was literally like watching paint dry. they take on Texas tonight. hopefully they can keep winning.
the Sunday night shows were good last night. Big Brother made me laugh. Ray Donovan was pretty good. The Strain was excellent once again. Last Week Tonight was fucking brilliant. and finally, Masters of Sex was pretty good as well. i was able to get all the shows watched and was in bed a little after 1 AM. of course, i was back up a little before 7 AM. the bags under my eyes are atrocious. i'm sure i'll get some good sleep sometime before i die.
i will be watching Monday Night Raw tonight. hopefully, it will be better than the baseball game. usually the shows after a PPV are. there are some surprises rumored for tonight.
i had to put air in my tires today. figures. this kind of shit only happens when it is hot as hell or snowing like there is no tomorrow. and since i don't park in one of the barns...
mom is starting to feel a little better. i'm still worried about her, but she has some tests planned for this week. looks like i will be playing chauffeur once again.
if i get a wild hair up my ass during my insomnia tonight, i may try my hand at some more "art". either that, see if i have any poems left rattling around this brain.
that is all for today folks. please return your seats to their upright position. enjoy the rest of your day and please, come again.
be well. be creative. be cool in this heat.

a massive cold front moved through here yesterday. we had a few storms out here at the farm. enough that the satellite kept going in and out. a perfect time for me to catch up on my sleep. i must have slept for a few hours. we got mostly rain during that time, no damage that i could see. i spent the rest of yesterday mostly watching soccer, Gold Cup, MLS, Mexican First Division, etc, etc.
amazingly, the Yankees played a good game yesterday and won 5-2. figures, since i wasn't able to watch it. i did see the highlights, which included this amazing double play
they play tonight to try to win the series. i'll watch a little of it. if they keep winning without me watching my superstitious ass will have to abide. of course, by the time my Sunday night shows are over they might still be playing.
another great episode of ROH last night. it certainly did the trick to make me want to see what happens next week.
i was really hoping the cold front was going to break all this fucking humidity we have here. but, it has stalled and now the air is thicker than shit outside. it was like wearing a sweater when i went out to feed the cats this morning. so, another day inside i suppose.
i'm really looking forward to seeing team USA play today in Gold Cup action. i would love to see them extend the longest winning streak in national team history. i feel pretty good that they will be able to do so. i believe the game is on FOX today.
tonight will be the usual viewing of Big Brother, The Newsroom and Ray Donovan. hopefully all 3 are good.
since i have really caught up on my sleep now, i figure i will be up late tonight. i'm hoping to maybe crank out a few poems.
hope everyone is having a good weekend.

i normally pride myself on being right. being right as close to 100% of the time as much as i can. so, it truly is a rare moment when i'm very happy to be wrong.
woke up early this morning/still night to me after a nap. what i witnessed was something i did not expect to see.
team USA absolutely destroyed Canada today at the World Juniors 5-1. i didn't see that one coming at all. not even imagined it could happen. i'm so happy to have been wrong about this team. they play Sweden in the gold medal game on Saturday. thankfully, at 8 am, so i'll actually be able to sleep decently before the game. what makes me even more happy is that the New York Rangers draft pick, J.T. Miller, looks like he's going to be a player. and sooner rather than later. music to my ears.
the wind has picked up here a little today, so now it really feels cold. between the furnace and the heaters, still around 70 inside the farmhouse. barely.
got a little editing work done today and i believe tomorrow will be the first poetry hunt of the new year. dust off the unpublished file and see if i can find any gems. if not, tomorrow will be a writing day.
music today:
Levon Helm - Dirt Farmer
Garth Brooks - No Fences
Cypress Hill - Live at The Fillmore
"I like to listen. I have learned a great deal from listening carefully. Most people never listen." - Ernest Hemingway
woke up early this morning to watch Manchester United play. i could have just stayed in bed actually. same shit from last season. piss poor defending on set plays that lead to countless goals last year seems to still be around for the start of this year. fucking frustrating. but the joy of being a fan, no matter the name on the back of that jersey, the belief stays the same. a goal always comes late, no matter what. and sure enough, in the 92nd minute, Bebe scores. never gets old if you ask me. really enjoyed watching Kagawa and Powell play. they should be welcome additions to the squad.
made a trip east to Half Price Books to sell off some books from my mother's other house. made a little scratch. and then, with the help of my fantasy football knowledge, finally cashed in a free large pizza for lunch out there. first time i had been to Milano's in years. very good.
i'm tempted to skip watching the Yankees play tonight and go see The Dark Knight Rises and Ted at the drive-in in town. not sure if i will or not. going to a theater by yourself is one thing, a drive-in is another. plus, i really have no clue if my truck is up for that or not.
so yeah, here's hoping the Yankees stop the losing streak tonight.
some great drama on Big Brother yesterday. i'm really hoping they show Willie going ape-shit on the house on this sunday's episode. good fun.
music today:
Paul Thorn - What the Hell is Goin on?
Zac Brown Band - Uncaged
"Always do sober what you said you'd do drunk. That will teach you to keep your mouth shut." - Ernest Hemingway
got a little too much sun yesterday in my 5 hours of mowing grass on the farm. woke up with the shits this morning. the joy of being fair-skinned. my left leg got it real good. combine the heat, sweatpants and where the exhaust comes out on my riding lawn mower and you can imagine all the different colors my left leg is today. fun.
a big thank you to those who have inquired about the broadsides. they will be arriving shortly.
really enjoyed England vs. Sweden today in EURO 2012 action. a spectacular goal from Danny Welbeck to win it for England. certainly makes all of us Man U fans proud.
looking forward to the Yankees and Nationals tonight. should be an interesting test for both teams. hopefully the train keeps charging along.
an early happy birthday to my mother. you don't look your age.
i will spend the weekend writing, staying away from the sun, hopefully posting pictures of my paintings on here and praying for rain. we're more than 5 inches behind where we should be. and the soybeans are certainly showing it.
