so, i got mom to her doctor's appointment on time. the only thing that frustrates me during these appointments is mom turning into a chatty Kathy. and given that most of her working life was in hospitals, etc., she can't help herself. i usually just sit there, try to think up some lines for poems and just twiddle my thumbs or check my phone. as most of you know, i am not a chatty person. hell, even when i'm drunk i'm not a big talker. after we got out of there, i drove her back home and i went to Kroger to get the prescriptions and some other shit. Kroger was fucking packed. 2 days before Christmas, of course. i got the pills and everything on the list. amazingly, i made it out of there in about an hour. nothing like eating your lunch at 5 PM.
so, the New York Rangers scored 17 seconds into the game yesterday against Carolina. they have completed 2 games since that goal and are still waiting to score the next one. they lost to Carolina, 3-1. they lost today at New Jersey, 5-0. joy.
i did watch a good number of NFL games yesterday.

it started raining last night. i could feel it in my bones long before it started here. after 3 hours of sleep, it was still raining this morning. it is supposed to stop here soon. i'll believe that when i see it.
Ohio State whipped Purdue yesterday, 45-0.
the New York Rangers won last night at Detroit, 4-0.
the Dayton Flyers won yesterday at home against Northwestern, 71-66. not bad, considering they were down 13 points in the first half yesterday.
i did watch plenty of college football yesterday:
AEW Collision was good last night.
SNL was hilarious last night.
Manchester United won 3-0 this morning.

that was about where the good news stopped today at my doctor's appointment. my A1C went back up to 7.1... i kind of expected it with all the stress of the kitchen renovation and all the fast food i have had in the past few weeks... what i am hoping is i can get it back down by the time i go back in March.
the Dayton Flyers won last night at home against Oakland, 91-67. here is what the Oakland coach said after the game.
the season finale of The Masked Singer was crazy as usual.

in a kitchen renovation update, the vent hood will be going in on Saturday morning. so, i guess i will be up early. thankfully, Manchester United plays at 7:30 in the morning on Saturday, so i should be up before the contractor gets here.
if mom feels up to it, i might take her out tonight to look at some lights. that might actually get her in a better mood. this whole process of the renovation has her depressed big time.
i'm not sure when i will be on here tomorrow.
i know i need to get some gifts wrapped soon.

the New York Rangers won last night at home against the Kings, 5-2. they have been playing with less players recently, trying to open up the cap space to make a trade for Patrick Kane. i'm really hoping that they get Kane, but i am also hoping this shit ends soon. the trade deadline is Friday afternoon.

i hope everyone had a great weekend.
i did listen to episode 436 of Notsam Wrestling today. you can hear that by going here:
i know from years of experience, this day can be either really great or totally fucking suck. i hope you had a good one, although i would completely understand if anyone just spent the day under the covers, telling the world to fuck off. been there before myself. i'd like to think i have moved past that part of my life, but i know too damn well that tomorrow could be the next punch to the dick and square one hits me right in the face.

i did take mom to her doctor's appointment today. she is going to get another injection, sometime in March and then start back with physical therapy. after that, we went to Waffle House. first time she actually wanted to eat in public in months. so, that was a bit of a change.
i did pretty good last night in my gambling. nailed my hockey bets and got a few NBA bets right. college basketball didn't go my way last night. oh well. hopefully i will do even better tonight.
i did watch some of the coverage of the shooting at Michigan State last night. i wonder if people truly understand that this shit will always happen since no one gives two shits in this country about mental health or gun violence. as long as everyone should have a fucking gun is the prevalent thought among those in power, then guess what the fuck happens when someone who should never have a gun gets one...
tomorrow should be fucking crazy here. they are finally starting the demolition in mom's bathroom. of course, the vanity won't be here for another two weeks (more of my mother's procrastination), but they are going to at least get the shower done. on top of all that, i need to do the grocery shopping and we have a high wind warning as well. good times.
so, i will probably be on here tomorrow in the late afternoon once again.
i think it also means i will have to get to bed before 5 AM like i have been doing, so that is all for me kids.
i need to get the trash picked up and figure out what snack will be dinner tonight.

i haven't been lucky enough in my life for this day to really mean something to me, but to all of you who are lucky enough, Happy Valentine's Day.
so, if any of you took my betting advice last night, i really hope you took the Bengals +4. the Rams won the Super Bowl last night, 23-20. i felt bad for Joe Burrow in a sense. his offensive line shit the bed when he needed them the most. plus, i absolutely hated how the officials called the game last night. they started off letting them play. i'm perfectly fine with that. then, in the last 2 minutes of the game, they decided to call every little thing possible after letting it all go earlier in the game. now, the biggest fault goes to the Bengals for putting Eli Apple on Cooper Kupp. anyone with a fucking brain knows that is a horrible matchup. how Eli is still in the league is a fucking mystery to me. a bunch of the Rams talked about retirement after the game. i hope they fucking do. i'm still salty 3 years later for them fucking over the Saints (with the refs help, oh shit, i sense a theme here) and making it to the Super Bowl.
the halftime show was excellent. i know my mother didn't like it since she has the hardest time hearing the lyrics to any rap song anymore.
our food yesterday was a bit of a clusterfuck. i thought we had some taco seasoning for the turkey i was browning for the nachos. nope. so, i had to make my own on the fly while keeping in mind mom's sodium totals. that was fun. i added some tomato sauce and some queso with salsa and it turned out pretty damn good. as for the ribs last night. mom kept those in the broiler a bit too long and burnt the shit out of them. there was still some edible meat on them, but not nearly as much as i was hoping. my plan was to have leftovers for dinner tonight. oh well.
Celebrity Big Brother last night was crazy. i have no clue who will be evicted tonight.
Billions was excellent last night.
Power Book IV: Force was really good last night.
Euphoria was amazing last night.
The Righteous Gemstones was crazy last night.
Somebody Somewhere was very good last night.

the USMNT defeated El Salvador last night, 1-0. i wish they would have been more clinical in the final third, but i'll gladly take the 3 points and get one step closer to qualifying for the World Cup.
the New York Rangers pissed away a 2 goal lead last night and lost to Columbus, 5-3. they play Minnesota today at home. they are retiring Henrik Lundqvist's #30 tonight. it should be quite the ceremony. the team announced today that Adam Fox is on IR. i'm hoping he didn't break his wrist last night. he won't be back until after the All Star break.
NXT UK was excellent last night.
Young Sheldon was good last night.
United States of Al was pretty good last night.

Hemingway is definitely one of many influences on my writing. and the first episode had some things in it that i had never known. i finished that at 2 in the morning. i think i might have got to bed sometime around 5. of course, i was up at 9 this morning because mom had physical therapy at 10. good times.
the poet of the day for this day of National Poetry Month is Luis Cuauhtemoc Berriozabal. i have been published with LCB for years and i have always enjoyed his work.

i always wanted to like this day. be in one of those relationships that felt like two people that were always meant to be together and are thriving with each other. sadly, at 45, i have never been in one of those. i thought i was in one of those a couple times in the moment, but, hindsight, being that evil fucker it is, has proven me wrong. so, the highlight of my day is either going to be the NXT show tonight or watching it fucking snow all night and all the way into Tuesday. good times.
i got up this morning in time to watch Manchester United play. hell, i was still making my coffee when West Brom scored less than 2 minutes into the fucking game. Bruno got that goal back right before halftime. sadly, that is how the game would end, 1-1. yet another two fucking points dropped. i'm fucking tired of United playing down to these shitty teams. it's painfully obvious, they need a new captain, some fresh blood that will kill someone to win a game, and a desire transplant for 85% of the fucking team.
ROH was very good last night.
Austin City Limits had an old show with Allen Toussaint on last night. it was excellent.
Saturday Night Live was pretty funny last night.

i guess the snow is supposed to start late tonight and last into Tuesday. they have already issued a winter storm warning here. the "experts" believe we will get anywhere from 5 to 8 inches of snow. oh joy.
i will probably watch a little of the Daytona 500 before i start watching wrestling tonight.

today was one of those days where i have had to make 4 hours of sleep work for me and just my luck... the adrenaline is starting to fade right before the hockey games come on tonight. good times.
i had to go pick up pills for my mother this afternoon. i always love dropping over $500 on her medicine. earlier today, i had to go to her bank to deposit her check from the government. after i did that, i went to the Rite-Aid right across the street from the bank. i had never been in this one. luckily, they did have a couple boxes of baseball cards there. i spent less than $10 on the cards and there was close to $25 worth of cards in them. that made me happy, especially the blue rainbow foil Zach Britton card i got that is worth around $12.
the Dayton Flyers were trailing last night at halftime against a Duquesne team that totally fucking sucks. thankfully, Dayton started the second half on fire and pulled away to win the game, 72-63.
NXT was pretty good last night.
AEW was pretty good last night as well.
The Masked Dancer was good last night. i did guess the identity of the Moth correctly.
