this day is somewhat hard for me, mostly because i don't think i have ever been in a relationship on Valentine's Day. 49 fucking years on this planet. let that sink in. but, i also don't want to be the asshole today and just shit all over those in relationships that have special plans or dinners, etc. such a delicate line to walk on. so yeah. a mix of depression and what can i distract myself with. joy.

so, i really wanted this blog to be a happy one, but i forgot what fucking world i am living in. i didn't have a mass shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs victory parade on my bingo card. just fucking crazy...
the Dayton Flyers won at home last night against Duquesne, 75-59. if you just looked at the score, you would never know Dayton was losing by double digits for a good portion of the first half.

i have to take mom to a doctor's appointment tomorrow afternoon. i think she wants to go to the bank after that. so, i should be on here after all that is over. with any luck, i'll actually go to the bank tomorrow as well.
be sure to tell the ones you love how much you actually love them. that is something i took for granted for too long in my life. now, i make sure to tell the precious few that i do love them.
may the rest of your valentine's day be divine.

i know from years of experience, this day can be either really great or totally fucking suck. i hope you had a good one, although i would completely understand if anyone just spent the day under the covers, telling the world to fuck off. been there before myself. i'd like to think i have moved past that part of my life, but i know too damn well that tomorrow could be the next punch to the dick and square one hits me right in the face.

i did take mom to her doctor's appointment today. she is going to get another injection, sometime in March and then start back with physical therapy. after that, we went to Waffle House. first time she actually wanted to eat in public in months. so, that was a bit of a change.
i did pretty good last night in my gambling. nailed my hockey bets and got a few NBA bets right. college basketball didn't go my way last night. oh well. hopefully i will do even better tonight.
i did watch some of the coverage of the shooting at Michigan State last night. i wonder if people truly understand that this shit will always happen since no one gives two shits in this country about mental health or gun violence. as long as everyone should have a fucking gun is the prevalent thought among those in power, then guess what the fuck happens when someone who should never have a gun gets one...
tomorrow should be fucking crazy here. they are finally starting the demolition in mom's bathroom. of course, the vanity won't be here for another two weeks (more of my mother's procrastination), but they are going to at least get the shower done. on top of all that, i need to do the grocery shopping and we have a high wind warning as well. good times.
so, i will probably be on here tomorrow in the late afternoon once again.
i think it also means i will have to get to bed before 5 AM like i have been doing, so that is all for me kids.
i need to get the trash picked up and figure out what snack will be dinner tonight.

i haven't been lucky enough in my life for this day to really mean something to me, but to all of you who are lucky enough, Happy Valentine's Day.
so, if any of you took my betting advice last night, i really hope you took the Bengals +4. the Rams won the Super Bowl last night, 23-20. i felt bad for Joe Burrow in a sense. his offensive line shit the bed when he needed them the most. plus, i absolutely hated how the officials called the game last night. they started off letting them play. i'm perfectly fine with that. then, in the last 2 minutes of the game, they decided to call every little thing possible after letting it all go earlier in the game. now, the biggest fault goes to the Bengals for putting Eli Apple on Cooper Kupp. anyone with a fucking brain knows that is a horrible matchup. how Eli is still in the league is a fucking mystery to me. a bunch of the Rams talked about retirement after the game. i hope they fucking do. i'm still salty 3 years later for them fucking over the Saints (with the refs help, oh shit, i sense a theme here) and making it to the Super Bowl.
the halftime show was excellent. i know my mother didn't like it since she has the hardest time hearing the lyrics to any rap song anymore.
our food yesterday was a bit of a clusterfuck. i thought we had some taco seasoning for the turkey i was browning for the nachos. nope. so, i had to make my own on the fly while keeping in mind mom's sodium totals. that was fun. i added some tomato sauce and some queso with salsa and it turned out pretty damn good. as for the ribs last night. mom kept those in the broiler a bit too long and burnt the shit out of them. there was still some edible meat on them, but not nearly as much as i was hoping. my plan was to have leftovers for dinner tonight. oh well.
Celebrity Big Brother last night was crazy. i have no clue who will be evicted tonight.
Billions was excellent last night.
Power Book IV: Force was really good last night.
Euphoria was amazing last night.
The Righteous Gemstones was crazy last night.
Somebody Somewhere was very good last night.

i did listen to episode 382 of Notsam Wrestling this morning. you can hear that by going here:

and your whatever the fuck i wanted you to see video of the day:
i always wanted to like this day. be in one of those relationships that felt like two people that were always meant to be together and are thriving with each other. sadly, at 45, i have never been in one of those. i thought i was in one of those a couple times in the moment, but, hindsight, being that evil fucker it is, has proven me wrong. so, the highlight of my day is either going to be the NXT show tonight or watching it fucking snow all night and all the way into Tuesday. good times.
i got up this morning in time to watch Manchester United play. hell, i was still making my coffee when West Brom scored less than 2 minutes into the fucking game. Bruno got that goal back right before halftime. sadly, that is how the game would end, 1-1. yet another two fucking points dropped. i'm fucking tired of United playing down to these shitty teams. it's painfully obvious, they need a new captain, some fresh blood that will kill someone to win a game, and a desire transplant for 85% of the fucking team.
ROH was very good last night.
Austin City Limits had an old show with Allen Toussaint on last night. it was excellent.
Saturday Night Live was pretty funny last night.

i guess the snow is supposed to start late tonight and last into Tuesday. they have already issued a winter storm warning here. the "experts" believe we will get anywhere from 5 to 8 inches of snow. oh joy.
i will probably watch a little of the Daytona 500 before i start watching wrestling tonight.
i got all of my laundry done yesterday, and i mean all of it. hoodies, bedding, etc. etc.

i think for the majority of my adult life, i haven't been in a relationship with anyone on Valentine's Day. now, while i probably have saved thousands of dollars, i'm not exactly happy that loneliness has become a natural feeling for me. but, shit happens.
so, i guess sometime after i got my shower done yesterday, there was a huge water main break in the county i live in. the whole country was under a boil advisory. shit, i think it still is. i'm hoping this is a wake up call to all these assholes around here that the infrastructure needs to be fucking updated badly. of course, when you are surrounded by Republicans, they want shit but they don't want to pay for it. i will always maintain that people would pay higher taxes if they actually knew what the money was being used for. god forbid, people would have to pay more but got free higher education, free healthcare, better roads and an infrastructure that wouldn't fail every time there is a big rain storm. but that will never happen because these assholes still believe that capitalism isn't fucking them over. fucking fools.
NXT was really good last night.
NXT UK was really good yesterday as well.
The Masked Singer was crazy last night. another week i was correct again.
the finale of Celebrity Big Brother went the way i was expecting once Ricky made the wrong choice at the end. i'm not sure why he thought he could win against Tamar. and i wasn't surprised when she got every vote at the end. i'm really happy Tom Green won the favorite house guest.
You're the Worst was hilarious last night.
Drop the Mic was very good last night.

my mother asked me what i was giving up for lent. i laughed and told her i quit giving a shit about organized religion when organized religion gave up on me.
i wrote 9 poems yesterday in the waiting room of mom's physical therapy. i typed them up last night, a little later than i wanted to. more on that later. i did like a few of them. i will probably have another writing session tomorrow and then it will be time for another round of submissions.
after physical therapy, we went out for a late lunch/early dinner. apparently, my body can't go 6 hours without food anymore. i had my usual for the place we were at. in hindsight, i should have had lunch at the house and just a few bites for the early dinner.
the one thing i liked about the house we now live in is there is a bathroom not that far away from the door going into the house from the garage. sadly, it wasn't close enough yesterday. thankfully, i like my pants cuffed so i didn't have to clean up any shit off of the carpet. but, there's a certain finality of just fucking kill me now when you're 42 years old and sitting on a toilet looking down at a pile of shit in your underwear and down your leg. i would ask how many fucking times i need to be humbled, but i know no one is fucking listening. my stomach was in knots all fucking night. i had to have some liquor just to settle it to get a few hours of sleep. as i told my mother this morning, either i'm starting to have the same stomach problems she has or my alcoholism is taking over the show. regardless, i am old enough to know this won't end pretty.
happy valentine's day
mom's appointment this morning went well. she's not crazy or losing her mind as she likes to think. all her tests pointed out that she's too stressed and moderately depressed as well. as i told her as we were leaving, it always comes back to her lack of self-confidence. i know a few of you just read that and laughed out loud thinking of my mental hangups.
i did go to the bank today and picked up a prescription at the grocery store. it was a gloomy drive around town. perfect for this fucking day.
the New York Rangers gave up 3 goals in the first 6 minutes or so last night at Minnesota. that was too big of a hole to climb out of as they lost 3-2. all the kids looked pretty good. it would be nice to see some veterans start to get traded from the team.
Smackdown was a clusterfuck last night.
205 Live was really good last night. i am liking the new direction of the show now.
Baskets was pretty funny last night.
Hate Thy Neighbor was about some crazy anti-abortion fucks. given my stance on god these days, you can imagine what i thought of the show.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight and Celebrity Big Brother. i'll watch NXT sometime tonight on WWE Network.
the Dayton Flyers play tonight at George Mason. since this team can't find a way to win on the road. i won't be hoping for a win tonight.
i got up this morning in time to watch team USA blow a 2-0 lead to Slovenia at the Winter Olympics in hockey. they lost 3-2 in overtime. i heard the names of so many failed New York Rangers players that i completely understood the loss.
i will probably be on here in the morning tomorrow most likely. that way if i do end up doing some more writing in the waiting room tomorrow, i'll type those up in the afternoon. but, as we all know, plans are meant to be blown up in your fucking face.
that's all for me kids. i need to figure out what the fuck i'm having for dinner.

i started thinking about this today and i realized i have been single for 41 straight Valentine's Days. i'm sure a good number of them have been by choice but, especially for poetic purposes, a good number have also been the process of elimination. i have often wrote about being on the wrong side of that process. it's not fun. so, part of me would love to break this streak. but, part of me also understands i'd have a better chance of winning the lottery or brokering peace in the Middle East.
mom felt well enough today that she didn't take her walker with her when we went out and about. she also didn't use a cane. i made sure to be close enough to her that she wouldn't fall. hopefully this means her back is much better and now it's just about getting the hip better.
the New York Rangers won last night in Columbus, 3-2. that's 6 wins in a row. they next play on Thursday at the Islanders.
Monday Night Raw was spectacular last night. Bayley winning the Women's Championship was great. but, the best part of the show to me was Kevin Owens. i think him turning on Jericho now caught everyone off guard. that's why it was so fucking perfect. now, the badass that takes no shit, fuck the world, Kevin Owens is back.
Hate Thy Neighbor was very interesting last night. watching a gay pride parade in Jerusalem and seeing both sides of it was both good and bad. i love the number of people that are against hate. i hate the fact that some old man is taking poor boys and making them soldiers for their version of a religion. i thought the host made the best statement though. both sides love to talk, but neither of them listen. now everyone can understand why nothing gets done for peace in the Middle East.
Eagles of Death Metal: Nos Amis was brilliant last night. i'm not a huge fan of the band, but i am definitely a bigger fan after watching the documentary. the footage from Paris and the terrorist attack was amazing to watch. i'm not going to lie, i had a few tears during the documentary. i highly recommend checking this out.
the finale of The Young Pope was great last night. i didn't think i was going to enjoy the series but in the end, it was much better than i thought it was going to be.
enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, WWE Smackdown and Taboo. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on WWE Network.
the Dayton Flyers play at Saint Louis tonight. this is a game they MUST win and in doing so, the senior class will set the program record for most wins by one class in their 4 years. i'm really hoping to drink to that tonight.
a quick heads up, look for some of my poetry in the morning...
i'm not sure when i'll be on here tomorrow. i still have the trash to pick up here and next door, so that's all for now.

what better way to start off today than a Rage Against The Machine concert. i recorded that last night and watched it this morning. i figured that was a good way to start a day i really don't care for.
we've got more snow on the way and my body is aching. guess i'll be mixing chocolate and liquor today.
i did watch the NBA All-Star Saturday Night festivities and i'm really fucking happy i did. the dunk contest was off the fucking charts amazing. it honestly brought me back to my youth and watching Jordan vs. Dominique in that dunk contest from 1988. what Zach LaVine and Aaron Gordon did last night will live on forever.
the 3 point contest was one of the best ever as well. not quite the Larry Bird domination of the contest in my youth, but the display that Klay Thompson and Steph Curry put on last night was amazing.
overall, the event was much better than probably the last 15 years combined. the amount of young talent in the NBA now is staggering.
ROH was awesome last night, mostly due to a great main event.
Austin City Limits was great as well last night. i really need to see Tedeschi Trucks Band in concert one of these days.
and finally, Saturday Night Live was really good last night. the one sketch about Beyonce and white people was probably the best thing i've seen on the show in years.
enjoy some music kids:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be Vinyl, Last week Tonight, Shameless, Billions, and the Tonight Show special on NBC.
the New York Rangers play tonight at home against Philadelphia. hopefully the Rangers can get a win tonight and hopefully get back on another streak.
i might watch some of the NBA All-Star game tonight. i highly doubt it will be as good as last night's events were though.
that's all for me kids. i need to get next door before the snow hits. it's supposed to snow from this afternoon to tomorrow afternoon. we're supposed to get anywhere from 1 to 3 inches. i wouldn't be surprised if we get more.
i hope your Saturday was great. i hope your Sunday is even better. hopefully your Valentine's Day goes well.

i've promised myself i won't write any i'm alone again on Valentine's Day poems this year. thankfully, the weather has turned to shit, so i can always write about that.
i'm running on not much sleep at the moment and i'm truly dreading the -20 with the windchill temps that are coming this way.
the hockey game last night in Columbus was great. it's always fun to watch a couple of ex-New York Rangers find a way to beat the fucking Philadelphia Flyers. the Flyers blew a 3-1 lead in the 3rd period to lose 4-3 in OT. that loss helped me flip the stats in my fantasy hockey this week. all in all, a pretty good evening.
mom and i went out to Waffle House when we got back into town and it might have been the worst service i have EVER received at any restaurant in my life. we sat for 20 minutes before we even got asked what we wanted to drink. and then the food i ordered was almost cooked completely. almost. needless to say, i'll probably have a poem about that experience written soon.
i didn't watch Treehouse Masters or NJPW last night. i tried to get some sleep. i might have got about 4 hours.
when i got up this morning i remembered i didn't check my email last night. thankfully i had less than 100 emails to get through this morning. i fed the cats and told them i'll be on dead cat detail tomorrow morning as i'm sure one of them dumb fucks will freeze to death overnight. the snow isn't bad. the wind is ferocious. it's already blown the barn doors open and knocked some of the wood off of one of the barns. good times. i'll be sleeping by a heater tonight that's for sure.
the Dayton Flyers somehow beat St. Bonaventure today 75-61 with basically 6 1/2 players. one player got injured (hopefully he's ok and just missed the second half as a precaution) and another fouled out before the end of the game. i was waiting for Dayton's coach to just play with 4 guys Hoosiers style. but, i'll certainly enjoy the victory beer tonight. here are some highlights:
most of the really bad weather happened while we were inside at the game. the drive home wasn't too bad. of course, getting gas was a bone chilling experience.
tonight, i'll be bouncing between some NBA All-Star shit (3 point contest, slam dunk, etc) and the New York Rangers game at Arizona. after that, i'll be watching ROH tonight and hopefully staying warm.
i'll be back on here early tomorrow, that is if we still have power or if Frontier Communications has managed to keep the internet up and running. it went out on me this morning as i was trying to watch some YouTube videos. that's always fun.
hopefully your weather is a hell of a lot warmer than mine is. i do hope you are having a great weekend. if not, pour yourself something stronger. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

of course, i imagine i would have a much better attitude about this day if i was in a relationship or actually had a woman in my life that loved me more than as just a good friend. and to top off today, the snow that was supposed to be 50 miles south of here somehow ended up 50 miles north and is right on top of us. that light dusting we were supposed to get is going to be 4+ inches. fuck me, i'm so fucking tired of winter.
my back nearly went out on me twice today. thank god i remembered the stretches i learned for this type of oh shit moment. the good thing was my back was hurting so much that my neck felt better. i'm slowly falling apart.
i watched a good portion of hockey in the Olympics today. good to see The King get another shutout for Sweden. i'm really looking forward to the USA vs. Russia game in the morning. hopefully i'll actually get some sleep before the game comes on.
so De La Soul was allowing people to download their entire music catalog for free today. i wasn't going to pass that up. so, i put in my email for their first album. i'm still waiting for the download code. my luck, when it arrives i won't be able to download it. at least not for free.
thankfully, my amazon.com order showed up a day early. so i've got plenty of new shit to listen to for a few months. of course, being in this house all day and night long, chances are i'll go through those 11 cd's in a few days.
in my boredom and frustration today, i took some photos...
you can see the rest of them in the slideshow on the right hand side of this blog.
not really sure what i'm going to be watching tonight on tv. i believe the NBA All-Star weekend festivities begin this evening. i suppose if i'm bored enough i'll check that out. of course, there is always my guilty pleasure tree house show on Animal Planet. beats watching the snow pile up.
i'm sure the birds are happy i got my broken bones out there to feed them today. i did see all the cats today, amazingly enough.
that's all for me. i do hope everyone has a wonderful and safe weekend. be well, be creative, be drunk, be naked by a fire but don't get too close...

didn't sleep well at all last night. between my anger and the cold front moving through (that does wonders for my back) i doubt i slept more than a few hours.
after breakfast this morning i did get some good news. my mother got through her procedure this morning with no complications. that relieved my mind a bit. i never know how this shit is going to mess with her diabetes. she gets the results in 2 weeks. i'm going to do my best to stay positive during that time. i believe eliminating the crazy out of my life is a good start. of course, if anyone has any positive words to send my way, feel free. lord knows i could use them.
also, started reading "More Than The Alley" by Doug Draime. so far so good. i've always enjoyed Doug's work. you can find more info on the book here: http://www.interiornoisepress.com/INP_HP_Draime.html
just judging from the first 50 pages alone, i'd recommend this book.
i did manage to write a quick poem today. i've got a feeling i'm going to be writing some pretty dark shit for the next few weeks. hopefully i'll write some more later on this weekend.
other than that, not much going on today. better than watching it snow i guess.
