just another sports scar...

i tell my mother all the time that when one of my teams lose a heartbreaker, it becomes a scar on my brain. after what happened last night at the 4 Nations Face Off, i have another one to add to the collection. Canada defeated the USA 3-2 in OT to win the 4 Nations Face Off. i should have seen it coming as soon as i saw the footage of Orange Hitler calling the team and wishing them luck.

the USWNT won last night against Colombia, 2-0.

nearly 30 years ago...

i remember i was housesitting for a friend as they were on vacation. i stayed there that night since he had cable and i didn't out at the farm. i watched as the USA defeated Canada in the World Cup of Hockey. that was 1996. tonight, the USA has the chance to defeat Canada to win the 4 Nations Face Off. i truly hope to see another great game and hopefully, the stars and stripes finding a way to win.

colder than hell...

so, i took some mail out to the mailbox around 2:30 in the morning last night. i figured i should probably put on some sweatpants to go outside and my winter coat. i know by the time i got back inside, it had to be well below zero with the windchill. i can see why mom has spent most of today in bed. (over 14 hours)

team USA lost to Sweden last night at the 4 Nations Face Off, 2-1. the game meant basically nothing, since the USA had already clinched the finals. they will play Canada on Thursday for the championship. Canada held on to beat Finland, 5-3.

The Voice was very good last night.

a cold Monday...

i didn't get to bed until around 6 this morning. yesterday was very long, between the sports and the tv shows, it all became a blur after too long.

a rainy mess

so, i didn't get much sleep last night. the freezing rain got my arthritis raging and nothing really helped. i think i slept in like 30 minute intervals. joy.

Happy Valentine's Day...

this day is somewhat hard for me, mostly because i don't think i have ever been in a relationship on Valentine's Day. 49 fucking years on this planet. let that sink in. but, i also don't want to be the asshole today and just shit all over those in relationships that have special plans or dinners, etc. such a delicate line to walk on. so yeah. a mix of depression and what can i distract myself with. joy.

closer to my goal...

i have always wanted to be one of those people that don't wake up until noon. the problem is, i have to go to sleep sometime around 8 in the morning for that to happen. so, when i went to sleep this morning at 5:41 AM, i was pretty happy when i woke up at 10:45 AM. maybe these meds they have me on now are actually helping me lose weight and sleep. what a concept.

i happened to watch the Sly Lives (AKA The Burden of Black Genius) today on HULU. it was fantastic. i highly recommend everyone checking it out.

with some freezing rain coming...

so, the reason i did the grocery shopping yesterday was the chance of freezing rain today. mom is at the point now where she worries about everything. i am at the point of my life where i couldn't give a shit either way. when it looked like it was going to be bad last night, she told me over and over again how happy she was i got the grocery shopping done already. i'm trying to do my best to make sure she has a good life with what she has left.
