i remember i was housesitting for a friend as they were on vacation. i stayed there that night since he had cable and i didn't out at the farm. i watched as the USA defeated Canada in the World Cup of Hockey. that was 1996. tonight, the USA has the chance to defeat Canada to win the 4 Nations Face Off. i truly hope to see another great game and hopefully, the stars and stripes finding a way to win.

the softest hands i have ever felt...
so, i decided to get some shit done today. i shaved for the first time in months. i actually took five inches off of my goatee. when it gets long enough to be in my food, i know it is time to cut it back. i had to go to Kroger to return the conditioner i got for mom. she wanted a different kind. i figured once i got that done i would go to Great Clips and get my haircut. there was a bit of a wait at Great Clips even though i signed in online. as the shuffle worked out, Trinity was the one to cut my hair. she is this beautiful light skinned black woman that has the softest hands i have ever felt on my skin in my life. for that alone, she was going to get a good tip. i gave her a $10 tip on a $20 haircut. she was happy. i sent a pic of the new me to the muse. her response made me laugh. hell is going to freeze over. that made my day.

i would give my left arm for a good night of sleep...
i didn't sleep worth a shit last night. maybe 2 hours at best in my bed. a little over 2 hours in the chair. i didn't really feel like i was awake until 2 this afternoon. good times.
the New York Rangers won last night in Chicago, 6-3. things are going to get real interesting at the trade deadline if they keep on winning.
The Masked Singer was good last night.
NXT was really good last night.
AEW was excellent last night.
Miz & Mrs was hilarious last night.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be Young Sheldon, The Unicorn, Will & Grace, Indebted and Desus & Mero.
i already watched NXT UK this afternoon. it was pretty good.
i see the New York Yankees are off to a shitty start regarding last year's biggest fucking problem, injuries. yesterday it was Aaron Judge and today its Luis Severino. fuck me.
Manchester United played a 1-1 draw today in the Europa League. hopefully, that away goal comes in handy next week.
i will probably be on here tomorrow after i get all the grocery shopping done.
it's way fucking colder today than the last few days. i thought we were supposed to have an early Spring. fucking groundhog.
until tomorrow kids...

nothing like an early glimpse of Spring...
USA hockey defeated Slovakia last night 5-1. that means they will play the Czech Republic tonight with a chance to move on to the semifinals. they looked much better last night than they have for the entire tournament.
Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night. the gauntlet match was very entertaining. of course, it took up 2/3 of the entire show. it was good to see Seth Rollins remind everyone of just how great he is.
Celebrity Big Brother was pretty good last night. i got a good laugh when Ross won the VETO. that blew up Omarosa's plan to get rid of him. Metta went home last night, willingly. the damn show ends in 6 days. i have no idea why he couldn't last that much longer.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Smackdown, Baskets and Hate Thy Neighbor. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on WWE Network.
the Dayton Flyers play tonight at home against Saint Louis. the game starts at 9 tonight. i won't be going, mostly because i want to watch the hockey game tonight that starts at 10. and i'm one of these guys that doesn't like to watch sports on the DVR. hopefully Dayton will get a win tonight.
i'll probably flip between the hockey game and the basketball game and whatever else is going on tonight with the Winter Olympics.
i do plan on taking my little notebook today while mom is doing her physical therapy. if i happen to write some shit, i'm planning on typing those up when we get back home.
and i think mom wants to go out to eat after her physical therapy. not sure where she wants to go, so that should be interesting. there's probably 30 different choices down there than we have up where we live.
i'll be on here tomorrow after Manchester United plays in the Champions League.
that's all for me kids. i need to hop in the shower. enjoy the visual.

has it really been 22 years...
for National Poetry Month today i give you:
today marks 22 years since Kurt Cobain died. i can remember exactly where i was when i heard the news. the parking lot of the Trotwood library listening to the radio, wondering what was taking my sister so long. by the time she came out to the car, i was in tears. Kurt's death is one of those that will forever haunt me, sort of like Jeff Buckley's death. immense talent always influences me. and i want to hold on to those influences forever. probably the reason why i will have days where i simply plays songs from dead singers. voices from beyond... the joy of being a creative fucker.
the New York Rangers finally won last night, 4-2 over Columbus. that clinches the playoffs for the 6th year in a row. of course, it came at a price as their captain is out indefinitely after blocking a shot last night. i'm hearing he broke a bone in his wrist and will be out 4 to 6 weeks. not good. the boys play again tonight at home against Tampa.
The Voice was pretty good last night. i think the top 20 this year is really talented.
the New York Yankees lost this afternoon to Houston 5-3. that's 5 straight years they have lost on Opening Day. i really hope this isn't the year where age and mediocrity catches up with them. i know it's bound to happen at some point, but hopefully it's not in the year that i actually have tickets to see them play.
enjoy some music kids:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be the recap of the top 20 on The Voice, Total Divas and Deadliest Catch.
Monday Night Raw was great last night. as soon as Vince let Shane run the show, i knew there was going to be plenty of fresh faces from NXT showing up. thankfully, that was the case. plus, AJ Styles is the new #1 contender. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn are obviously set up to continue their feud. Cesaro is back. Baron Corbin finally got called up. Enzo and Big Cass got called up. Apollo Crews got called up. it was a very good night.
mom and i made a little trip to Office Depot this afternoon to get ink for the printer. that's the only bad thing about her working from home. we go through a ton of ink.
i need to get the trash picked up here and next door, so this is all for me today kids.
i hope this finds everyone in a good mood or on the way to drinking yourself to one.

sometimes i think the blind could do a better job officiating a basketball game
am i upset that the Dayton Flyers lost at home today? yes i am. am i upset that they lost to a great guard from St. Bonaventure? no, i'll always give great players their due. he scored 31 today, he was clearly the best player on the court. or am i upset that 3 fucking assholes decided to ruin a great college basketball game? yes, yes i am. what makes it even worse was coming home and finding out the head of ALL officiating in college basketball was at the game today. why do any of these fucks think we as fans or just a dude watching television want to see a basketball game with 50 fucking fouls called in it. what makes it even worse is the number of beyond fucking obvious calls they don't blow their fucking whistles on. but, like most dumb fucks, they have no problem calling a foul from 30 feet away when the other fucker 2 feet away doesn't see a thing wrong with the play. i'll give Dayton's coach credit. if i was in his shoes, i'd be in jail on murder charges right now. what pisses me off even more was one of St. Bonaventure's players giving a hug to one of the officials during the fucking game. how am i to not think that something is fucking going on? so, for the love of all things right in the world, and so that maybe some of us can actually enjoy college basketball without three dumb fucks ruining it from time to time... i call on Bill McCarthy, Eric Anderson and Nathan Farrell to do the right thing and fucking quit ASAP. do the entire basketball world a favor and stick to your fucking day jobs.
that being said, Dayton's coach was absolutely correct after the game. Dayton isn't playing tough enough at the moment and are clearly feeling sorry for themselves because one of their best players is injured right now. they desperately need Kendall Pollard back but from what i'm hearing, i doubt it happens anytime soon. this 79-72 loss isn't a killer, but it sure as fuck feels like one.
please fucking beat St. Louis on Tuesday. please.
(putting my soapbox away)...
i did enjoy Treehouse Masters last night. i need to look into those two sided fireplaces. NJPW was excellent once again. and VICE was a very interesting show last night. of course, any show about death and i'm sure i'm going to enjoy it.
enjoy some music kids:
now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be Austin City Limits and ROH.
after the game, i took mom to her job so she could do a few things. then we went to lunch. i had some garlic parmesan chicken. it was much better than i thought it was going to be. and after that, it was off to the grocery store.
i did see a few people that may end up in poems while in the grocery store. the bagger had these amazing yellow and black fingernails. if she didn't look like jail bait, i might have struck up a conversation about them. but, the joy of poetic license is those fingernails will end up on the loud lady wearing sweatpants barely covering an ass that was wider than the grocery cart. enjoy the visual.
tomorrow is a crazy fucking day. between the start of the NASCAR season to the WWE pay per view tomorrow night to some more shows coming back on HBO... i'll do a quick blog in the morning probably before i spend all day in front of the television, hopefully catching up on some napping.
i hope your Saturday has been better than mine. i suppose if anyone asks why i died in my 50's, you can always point to this blog and say that surely wasn't good for his health.

and now he's nothing but a ghost
since my sister and i weren't given the opportunity to speak at the service, my sister wanted to pass on what she was going to say. it doesn't have all the colorful language that i was going to use, but the sentiment is the right one:
The man I have heard described today and for the last 2 weeks is not the man my brother nor I had the luxury of knowing. I will never get answers to the many questions I have. In order to close the chapter and move on from today I have to take from this, that my father's inability to ever say 'i love u' or 'i'm proud of u' to my brother or i and his 19 year absence from my life is proof that humans are capable of changing. I take solace that he didn't die alone and unloved and as awful as the treatment that my brother and I received, that treatment was probably part of his transformation into a human being capable of giving love to those that loved him.
that was much kinder than i would have been. as for anything i would have said, i'm sure that will come out in the forms of poems over the next few years.
i did find out today that my father retired from the post office in 2009. i suppose he had no choice when he got the diagnosis of dementia. that means he worked at the post office for 37 years. no wonder he died at 68. i suppose the next shoe to drop will be the reading of the will. that will probably get really fucking interesting, especially if the fucker was dumb enough to not list me or my sister in it.
i didn't go to the church afterwards to listen to more bullshit. i ended up going out to lunch with my mother, sister and two of her friends. after a few drinks and some food, it was back to being just another fucking day in my life.
time for a quick musical break and hopefully a few laughs:
the New York Yankees lost last night 3-1. to be honest, i didn't watch any of the game.
the New York Rangers lost 1-0 last night to fall behind in the series 2-1. sadly, i watched more of that game than i should have. fucking frustrating beyond belief. and of course i will probably miss some of Game 4 because of the farm auction.
Gotham was fucking brilliant. that was an amazing first season. i can't wait for the next one.
Monday Night Raw was actually really good last night. it figures, since there was so much else on last night. here's a few of the highlights:
to be honest i didn't watch much of The Voice last night and didn't vote at all. so i have no clue who is getting voted off tonight. regardless, i'm pretty sure that Sawyer will end up winning this season.
the Kurt Cobain documentary on HBO last night was brilliant. so many memories that brought back. and considering that was right around the time my parent's got divorced... you could say that moments of that last night were truly a mind fuck.
i didn't get to watch any of the David Letterman special from last night. but, i do have it on the DVR so i will hopefully watch it sometime this week.
as for tv tonight, the Yankees play up in Toronto again. there's a WWE special on ESPN that i will have on the DVR. after i watch The Voice, i believe Undateable is live tonight. so, that should make for some interesting viewing. and at some point i will fit in Deadliest Catch. other than that, i think i'm just going to try to stay cool. the weather is a bit balmy today.
that's all for me today. i hope everyone enjoyed their Cinco de Mayo. hopefully the drinks didn't get the better of you.
be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

say goodbye to spring
i got two more emails from my aunt's today. it's becoming painfully obvious that my father told his family that my mother, sister and i wanted to never hear from them again. truth be told, my father told my mother that if we contacted his family ever again, he was going to kill her. talk about not being able to handle rejection. thank god that didn't pass on to me.
tonight is the absolute worst night for everything to be on television, given that i have a funeral to be at at 10 AM. if i'm wearing sunglasses in the rain tomorrow, everyone will understand why.
more on tonight's clusterfuck later.
the New York Yankees got their first sweep in Boston since 2006 with a 8-5 win last night. that was a sweet victory beer. they play against Toronto tonight.
the Sunday night shows were excellent. Nurse Jackie was great. Happyish is so fucking weird that it's quickly becoming a favorite of mine. the writing is great. Penny Dreadful was creepy and fucking brilliant. i love that that show is back. Veep was hilarious. Silicon Valley was great. and lastly, Last Week Tonight hit it out of the park again:
the clusterfuck tonight is massive. all of this is just about on at the same time. i think my DVR may blow up tonight. the Yankees, Game 3 between the New York Rangers and Washington, the NBA playoffs, the Gotham season finale, The Voice, Monday Night Raw, and to top everything off, that Kurt Cobain documentary is on HBO tonight. oh, and i nearly forgot the special that will be on CBS about David Letterman. how in the fuck am i going to watch all this?
thankfully both of my packages from Amazon.com came today before the rain. that allowed me to get mom's Mother's Day gifts all squared away for Sunday, or whenever my sister decides we're going to celebrate it.
my arthritis has been flaring for most of the day, so i know the rain is coming. good times.
i'll be on here sometime tomorrow afternoon unless i decide to just drink myself to oblivion after the funeral service. it will be Cinco de Mayo after all. and i have a whole book in my head of horror stories of my days with tequila. you tasty devil you.
that's all for my creative ass today. i hope everyone had a great weekend.
be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

i woke up this morning with a knot in my back the size of a basketball. it hasn't got much better. and on top of that, i got the shits this morning as well. these are the days when i know i'm being punished for ignoring the 8 year old me that wanted to die.
the New York Yankees won last night 7-3. Tanaka pitched well once he got over his nerves and the offense came through in big spots. of course, the first injury of the season also happened. and it had to be at the spot where they have no depth, first base. fuck. so, this afternoon the Yankees go out and lose 4-0. Pineda pitched well enough to win. the offense was lost for most of the day and couldn't get a hit when it mattered. the one time they did instant replay fucked that up for them. why have the shit if you still can't get the calls right? anywho, another day game tomorrow which will start my jam packed Sunday.
the New York Rangers play at home tonight against Ottawa. if they win, they clinch a playoff spot. so, i'll be a little jacked up for tonight's game.
thankfully, i was able to watch ROH today at noon. another great episode with amazing matches. Hero defeated Strong and the Young Bucks beat Red Dragon for the tag team titles. if you have a chance to catch the episode, do so.
i believe Saturday Night Live is new tonight. after that airs, i'm thinking i'm going to try to sleep for more than 6 hours for a change.
Manchester United used a GREAT game from Juan Mata today to destroy Newcastle 4-0. Mata scored 2 with Chicharito and Januzaj getting the other 2. that should give the team some good momentum heading into a must win game in Germany on Wednesday. i won't think about that game until then. instead, i will enjoy this victroy beer.
i do plan on watching the Final Four tonight although i'm sure i'll be thinking what if since Dayton got so close this year.
today is kind of sad as i think back 20 years ago. Kurt Cobain had a huge influence on my writing, my musical tastes, the way i dressed, how i smoked my cigarettes, and how badly i wanted to try heroin. fast forward to today and i no longer smoke, still haven't tried heroin, but will still bust out a flannel now and then. yet, that music still resonates with me and my writing. and i still remember exactly where i was when i got the news. i remember the tears and the song. the Trotwood, Ohio library parking lot and the song was Come As You Are.
maybe i'll do a little writing tonight.
that's all for me kids. be well and i will be on here sometime tomorrow, hopefully after a Yankees victory.
peace and chicken grease...

blue monday
got some mail today from Australia. thanks go out to Ben John Smith for the broadsides he sent. if you haven't read any of the work of one of the best writers i've stumbled upon in the last ten years, check out his work on the internet or his great, mind blowing blog http://horrorsleazetrash.blogspot.com/.
if any of you would like to send me things, feel free. i do write back, no matter where you live in the world. so be warned.
i'm so dearly hoping CM Punk drops another pipe bomb tonight on Monday Night Raw. i got a feeling i'll be watching that much more than the Yankee game tonight.
