and now it feels like summer...

it was 70 degrees here before noon. that feels like summer to me.

i sent out 5 poems late last night to Synchronized Chaos. i have no clue if i will make the cut off for the issue on May 1st. my writer's block comes and goes more than ever before now. i think i probably need to have a great mind fuck to release a few demons.

below are your 3 videos for this day of national poetry month:

the New York Yankees won last night at Milwaukee, 15-3. hopefully, they will win the series this afternoon.

here are your highlights from the NHL playoffs yesterday:

here are your highlights from the NBA playoffs yesterday:

AEW Collision and AEW Rampage were ok last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be A Gentleman in Moscow, The Sympathizer and The Jinx Part 2.

the New York Rangers play Game 4 of their series against Washington tonight. if they win on the road, they will sweep the Capitals.

i'm sure i will watch plenty of the NHL and NBA playoffs today.

i did like what the New Orleans Saints did on day 3 of the NFL Draft.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. i hope your Sunday will be even better.

i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow.

until then...

got my flu shot today...

so, my A1C is up, which i kind of expected. i've been doing some stress eating here lately. now, my weight isn't up, so i have somehow pulled that off. i did get my flu shot today. the assistant that gave it to me stuck the shit out of me. i want to believe she was attracted to me, but that is probably just wishful thinking. now, the woman at the front desk that said i looked like a movie star, i'm pretty sure that was more than just being nice. after all of that, i had to go to Kroger to pick up my pills and my mother's eye drops. thank fucking god i don't do my grocery shopping on Fridays anymore.

i got to the appointment early, so i stopped at the Rite Aid nearby and got a box of baseball cards. there was about $20 worth of cards in it. that made me happy.

Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows.

Big Brother went as i expected last night. Tiffany was evicted first and then Hannah was evicted. i almost feel sorry for Azah as she has now figured out that the guys are working together.

When Nature Calls was fucking hilarious last night.

NXT UK was very good last night.

What We Do in the Shadows was fucking crazy last night.

Dark Side of the Ring was about the plane ride from hell last night.

i did watch some of the USWNT destroy Paraguay last night, 9-0. Carli Lloyd had 5 goals in the game. i guess her retirement tour has started rather nicely.

the NFL game last night was what happens when two shitty teams face each other. Washington won 30-29.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Big Brother, Smackdown, AEW Rampage and Real Time with Bill Maher. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on Peacock.

the Yankees lost to Baltimore last night, 3-2 in 10 innings. they finished 11-8 against the Orioles this season. in contrast, Tampa went 18-1 against them. if the Yankees don't make the playoffs, they should know exactly why. they start a series tonight against Cleveland. i almost give a shit.

i should be on here tomorrow in the morning, before Ohio State plays in the afternoon.

i hope everyone has a great weekend.

exactly how i wanted to start the day...

so i was getting some things done on the computer this morning when the urge to shit suddenly came on. and of course, since this is my life, i didn't make it to the bathroom in time. and this was before i had even had breakfast. exactly how i wanted to start this day. between cleaning that up and being pissed off, i tweaked my back... so i have spent most of today in my massage chair, icing my back. good times.

i think my mother may be coming home today. not sure. i know my sister is planning on going to see her in a little bit. with how my back feels, i'd rather not risk it.

the New York Rangers ended their losing streak last night, defeating Philadelphia 3-2 in a shootout. hopefully that will be the start of something good.

the USWNT defeated Canada last night, 1-0. that was a more competitive game than i was expecting.

Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows.

Young Sheldon was pretty funny last night.

B Positive was good last night.

The Unicorn was very good last night.

Clarice was pretty good last night.

Desus & Mero was fucking hilarious last night.

on the DVR tonight will be Smackdown, Painting with John and 2 episodes of Hip Hop Uncovered. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on WWE Network.

the Dayton Flyers are having their senior night tonight at home against Saint Louis. i will probably watch the game, although i'm not expecting Dayton to win.

as for tomorrow, i have no fucking clue when i will be on here.

it's supposed to be cold as fuck tonight, so i'm really hoping if mom is coming home, it's when the damn sun is out.

and here comes the rain...

my arthritis has been raging so damn much these last few days, i feel like i'm swimming in a heroin withdrawal. joy.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night.

Big Brother was good last night. i know Cody won part 2 of the HOH. so, part 3 on the season finale on Wednesday will be Cody vs. Nicole. i imagine whoever wins that will win the season.

Fringe Nation was all about the KKK last night. talk about some ignorant motherfuckers that should be wiped off the face of the earth.

The Voice was really good last night.

We Are Who We Are was excellent last night. the season finale is next week.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight and The Voice.

i did listen to episode 314 of Notsam Wrestling this afternoon. you can find that by going here:

i imagine i might watch some of the World Series tonight, if i get bored or need to fall asleep early.

i have been pleasantly thrilled with the Dayton Flyers the last few days. to get two 4 star recruits to commit in 3 days is something the program has NEVER done. i love that Archie Miller left because he could never win those recruiting battles and now Anthony Grant has won two in a row over some really huge schools.

rest in peace Diane di Prima. you were always one of my favorites.

i should be on here tomorrow after i get the grocery shopping done. i'm really hoping it won't be raining tomorrow.

i have trash to pick up here and next door, so that's all for me kids...

waking up with an elephant on my back...

it was supposed to be raining by now. instead, my back only thinks it is raining. nothing quite like waking up and your lower back feels like it is stuck in cement. joy.

i am still planning on going to the basketball game today. hopefully, that will happen.

NJPW was really good last night.

WOW was good last night.

Real Time with Bill Maher was fucking hilarious last night.

2 Dope Queens was fucking great last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be ROH.

the New York Rangers play today at home against New Jersey. i believe the Rangers have scratched the players they are planning on trading by Monday. that's probably for the best as they do need to continue the rebuild.

the Dayton Flyers play today at home against Saint Louis. i'd love to see Dayton win and get a little revenge for Saint Louis destroying them a few weeks ago. Obi Toppin is one dunk away from equaling the season record for Dayton.

the New York Yankees play their first spring training game today against Boston. hard to believe it's time for baseball again.

nothing like an early glimpse of Spring...

i think i got around 4 1/2 hours of sleep last night. i think that mostly was due to the low being 60 fucking degrees last night. i think there's a chance for it to get up into the 70's today. of course, i believe that comes with a chance of thunderstorms. and in a few days it will be back to down to the 30's. time for everyone to get sick again.

USA hockey defeated Slovakia last night 5-1. that means they will play the Czech Republic tonight with a chance to move on to the semifinals. they looked much better last night than they have for the entire tournament.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night. the gauntlet match was very entertaining. of course, it took up 2/3 of the entire show. it was good to see Seth Rollins remind everyone of just how great he is.

Celebrity Big Brother was pretty good last night. i got a good laugh when Ross won the VETO. that blew up Omarosa's plan to get rid of him. Metta went home last night, willingly. the damn show ends in 6 days. i have no idea why he couldn't last that much longer.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Smackdown, Baskets and Hate Thy Neighbor. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on WWE Network.

the Dayton Flyers play tonight at home against Saint Louis. the game starts at 9 tonight. i won't be going, mostly because i want to watch the hockey game tonight that starts at 10. and i'm one of these guys that doesn't like to watch sports on the DVR. hopefully Dayton will get a win tonight.

i'll probably flip between the hockey game and the basketball game and whatever else is going on tonight with the Winter Olympics.

i do plan on taking my little notebook today while mom is doing her physical therapy. if i happen to write some shit, i'm planning on typing those up when we get back home.

and i think mom wants to go out to eat after her physical therapy. not sure where she wants to go, so that should be interesting. there's probably 30 different choices down there than we have up where we live.

i'll be on here tomorrow after Manchester United plays in the Champions League.

that's all for me kids. i need to hop in the shower. enjoy the visual.

i'm watching for the commercials

since the Super Bowl this year is between two teams i absolutely detest, i really don't give a shit who wins. much like most years being a New Orleans Saints fan, i'm hoping the commercials are really good.

Austin City Limits was excellent last night, mostly because of one of my favorite bands, St. Paul & The Broken Bones.

ROH was really good last night.

Saturday Night Live was hilarious (sometimes), sloppy (most of the time) and pretty good last night. you could tell Kristen Stewart was nervous as hell, which probably explains saying the word fucking on network tv. but, Melissa McCarthy's version of Sean Spicer saved the whole damn show, it was fucking fantastic.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be The Young Pope.

the New York Rangers play at home today against Calgary. hopefully they can finally figure out how to play good at home again. and win.

Manchester United plays at Leicester today. United really needs to win this game.

check out some great art from my good friend and brother from another mother, Janne Karlsson

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. hopefully your Sunday will be even better.

i hate how i feel right before it rains

it's almost like a dull ache. like i'm a junkie going through withdrawals, and i don't want to get into the habit of taking pills or alcohol to ease the pain, as i know damn well, i'll be an addict in a matter of days. but now at 40, my process of accepting the pain needs to be tweaked a bit i guess. not sure how i'm going to do that. but, there's plenty of time (i hope) to try and fail at many things before i get it right.

Euro 2016 update:
i really enjoyed Italy vs. Belgium yesterday. you could tell Belgium had all the shiny parts and Italy was the reliable old car that stills get you there and never breaks down. Italy "upset" Belgium 2-0. that's a huge win for Italy. today, i watched Hungary shock Austria 2-0. i can just imagine the drinking going on in Hungary. right now, i'm watching Iceland vs. Portugal. should be interesting to see how CR7 does today.

Copa America update:
Mexico vs. Venezuela last night was very entertaining. Venezuela scored early and for a while, i really thought they were going to get the upset and win the group. but, Mexico got a great goal to get the draw. that gives Mexico the group win and allows them to avoid possibly playing Argentina in the quarterfinals. the games tonight are Chile vs. Panama and Argentina vs. Bolivia.

Monday Night Raw was really hit or miss for me last night. i enjoyed how much Kevin Owens was on there and the build up for AJ Styles vs. John Cena has been really good. i just wish the interaction between Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose would have been better. it's obvious the writers still don't know how to write the best for them yet. hopefully the ppv this Sunday will be awesome.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Deadliest Catch and Maya & Marty.

the New York Yankees play tonight out in Colorado. hopefully they can get back to winning soon.

i did watch some of the NBA Finals last night. i hope Cleveland understands they have to play like that or better to come back and win the series. Game 6 will be on Thursday.

i've got the trash already done as i didn't want to be in pain while doing it. after the soccer is over this afternoon, i think i'm going to take a long shower and get a good back massage while watching television tonight. and hopefully a victory beer or two will help as well.

hard to believe, but it's been 22 years since one of my greatest days as a sports fan.
i hope to god i get to see that again in my lifetime.

that's all for me. i hope everyone is doing well.

one long dragging day...

it feels like i have been in a fog this entire day. of course, it is a Monday. another cool day in July. just fucking weird.

i just got back in from getting some water in town. all i could think about while driving is i really need a nap. not good.

the Yankees lost yesterday, 5-4. i honestly didn't watch much of the game as i was watching the Hall of Fame inductions. the Yankees play again tonight in Texas. i doubt i watch much of that either.

i did manage to watch all my usual Sunday night shows. of course, it took me forever as i fell asleep at the wrong time last night. thank you YouTube.

Big Brother was good. Ray Donovan was pretty good. The Strain was great as usual. Last Week Tonight was fucking hilarious as usual. Masters of Sex was better than usual.

tonight i'll be watching Monday Night Raw. i figure most of this episode is going to involve John Cena, so maybe i'll get my sleeping in then.

i need to change all the filters down in the basement/cellar. i want to do my laundry tomorrow, might as well have the cleanest water possible to do it with.

my body has been aching all day. i suppose my arthritis is getting worse. or, it could be the health problems of a good friend weighing me down. hello my good friend alcohol. it has been too long.

i need to make some money this week. not sure how that's going to happen, but it has to. get ready to strap in for one fucking weird week. there will be no set time for this blog this week. so don't be surprised if i'm posting something in the middle of the night.

made almost $0.80 today doing online surveys. i'm oh so close to being rich.

i did get an email from a friend last night about a place looking for some poems. so, i think i will be sending another batch out before the end of the month. plus, i should have a new poem published tomorrow morning. not sure how deep this depression would actually get if i wasn't getting published. i definitely know i don't want to see just how deep it could get.

that's all for me today. hopefully a night of good sleep and i'll be in a better mood tomorrow. but, as it has been for most of my life, don't get your hopes up.

be well. be cool. be creative. be thankful. be eager to send me cash. or panties.

peace and chicken grease...

what happens if spring never comes?

i woke up this morning after maybe 3 or so hours of sleep and noticed the temps were down to the single digits once again. they just happened to stay there to this afternoon. the weather is certainly wreaking havoc on me. my back was paying the price today. and since it was in pain, that 1 oxy pill had to work for 2 spots. needless to say, i'm not a happy camper today.

i did manage to stay awake for everything i wanted to watch last night. i thought the Beatles special was pretty good. the best performances to me was Ed Sheeran doing "In My Life", mostly because that is my favorite Beatles song of all-time. and the performance of Dave Grohl, Joe Walsh, and Gary Clark Jr. doing "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" brought the house down. i also never look away anytime Annie Lennox is performing. great to see her and Dave Stewart back together for at least one night. overall, a very good 2 1/2 hours of music and nostalgia.

as for the Sunday night shows, True Detective was brilliant once again. i can't come up with the words to do that show justice. it is just fucking damn near perfect. Shameless was great last night as well. i have always loved how that show can go from party to serious in a nano second. and the possible plot twists from last night are endless. Girls made me laugh again, especially with the realization that if you really want to write and make money doing it, you basically have no choice but to sell your soul. House of Lies was good. and Episodes actually made me laugh a few times. probably the vagina with Yoda's voice that did it.

it was a little hard listening to sports talk radio today as the only thing anyone wanted to talk about was the player from Missouri that came out as gay last night. personally, i couldn't give a shit what his sexuality is, it's not my life. what i first thought about was how many homophobic Missouri football fans had a little vomit in the back of their throats when that news came out last night. the one thing i will give credit to this generation, with being so public with everything they do and say and think; they truly are forcing people to face their own hypocrisy. that has to make the world a better place over time. at least i fucking hope so.

after i take a long hot shower, i'll be getting ready to watch Monday Night Raw. i believe Betty White is the guest host tonight. i'm sure that means there will be at least one horrible comedy sketch to endure. i'm hoping the show is better than last week.

other than wrestling, i'll probably watch some college basketball as well. or whatever happens to be on the Food Network.

i haven't really got into the Winter Olympics yet. i imagine when the men's hockey gets going, my intensity will pick up for sure.

that's all for me. i hope everyone had a great weekend. i do hope everyone gets the chance to read the poems i just got published. especially the muse, as that poem about you should put the final nail in what used to be our friendship. and i know if you read it i won't hear from you, as it cuts a little closer to the bone than you ever thought i had the guts to do. i just love when someone doubts me.

be well. stay warm. find the positive in your life and then fuck the shit out of it.

peace.

some days just bleed together

i was up way too late last night and up way too early this morning. needless to say, i feel like i have been in a damn fog for the last 18 hours or so.

first off, i did send out 12 poems today. 6 to ZYX and 3 each to Dead Snakes and The Camel Saloon. when i hear back from these places i will pass along the verdicts.

i did watch most of the New York Rangers 4-1 loss last night. too many fucking mistakes, too many defensive lapses, too many mind cramps, and way too soft at times. a thank you to Rick Nash for dropping the gloves last night when none of his pussy teammates would. mostly, a thank you for the 5 penalty minutes. much needed for my fantasy team. hopefully they get Captain Cally back by Monday and figure some shit out or the 9 game road trip to start the season could be really fucking ugly.

The Big Bang Theory was hilarious last night. really great writing. nothing else really struck me as funny on television last night.

i did watch a good portion of the NFL game last night. i picked the right team to win but i didn't care for how they won. i'm now 41 points behind in fantasy football. that's a big fucking hole to climb out of. especially when your QB is facing the best defense in the league. so much for my momentum from last week.

i actually had to turn on the A/C today. first week of October and it's in the mid 80's. fucking ridiculous.

not sure what i'm watching this evening. i might just turn on some baseball so i can fall asleep.

i'll be back on here after the Manchester United game tomorrow afternoon. if they lose again, expect a rant that might get me banned from the internet for life.

hope everyone has a great weekend. or at least a better one than the assholes you hate.

sometimes it rains so hard you can feel it in your bones

this post is brought to you by professional broadcaster, Primetime Sam Roberts. you can find episode 52 of his podcast, The Sam Roberts Show Online at iTunes, Stitcher, and at notsam.com. i'd also like to share a recent interview with Brooke Shields he did that i found pretty interesting.

always nice when the Yankees prove me wrong. they got some good pitching last night from Phil Hughes, a clutch hit from Ichiro (finally) and got the hammer of god to hold on in the 9th for a 4-3 win last night. probably the best win of the season so far. i was in and out of it for most of the game, but just happened to tune in when Ichiro got the hit. nice timing there. hopefully they can get the series win tonight.

as for the New York Rangers, they can't do anything easy to save their fucking lives. all they needed to do was beat one of the worst teams in the league and, given that Winnipeg lost last night, they would have been in the playoffs. so, they of course go out and lose 3-2. at least all they need is 2 damn points to get in now. no matter how hard they try, i can't see them being able to fuck that up.

i did catch most of The Voice last night. the knockout rounds should be cutthroat this season. i honestly believe this is probably the best talent they have had in any season so far.

as for Deadliest Catch, it once again showed why it's my favorite show on television. i can't wait to see how the backstabbing from last night plays out for the rest of the season.

a special thank you to BZ Niditch for the email. always nice to find out who is reading this blog when you actually had no clue they were.

the poet of the day on my Google+ page is Justin Hyde. Justin is one of the few poets that has come along in the last few years and absolutely blown me away with his work. do yourself a favor and do a quick search and enjoy.

we had a massive cold front move through last night. good thing i got the grass cut when i did. my back has been tighter than tight all day long. i know i'm in for a long one when stretching doesn't even help.

i did manage to type up the 2 poems i wrote the other day. i like them. i'll toss them into the soon to be sent out pile. i've got a few sitting around, enough for maybe 2 more submissions before the month is over.

your arms are too short to box with god

this blog post is brought to you by The Sam Roberts Show Online, episode #40. you can find this episode on iTunes, Stitcher, and on http://notsam.com/podcast.html. give it a listen and enjoy.

the title line of this blog post is a line that CM Punk said to the Rock on this past Monday Night Raw. has to be one of the best lines i have heard from a heel in years. had me laughing my ass off. can't wait for 2 of the greatest talkers of all-time to go at it.

wasn't exactly shocked that no one was elected to the baseball hall of fame. figures i would have the joy of loving the sport and collecting baseball cards in an era that is now considered completely poisoned and worthless. over 50,000 pieces of cardboard and memories, or, how i look at them now, dust collectors. one of these days i'll find some fool that will want them.

also saw today that the NBA team i have rooted for since i was a child (Sacramento Kings) is close to being sold and moved to Seattle. if that happens, my NBA loyalty will be a free agent. i've got my eyes on a few spots, but i'll hold out hope that the team doesn't leave.

i've decided that for 2013 i'm going to try to listen to the oddest mix of music each day. check out today's music for an example.

huge game tonight for the Dayton Flyers. one the road at VCU. a tough way to start conference play. i'd love to see them win but to be honest, i fully expect a loss. and it doesn't get any easier as the home conference opener is against Butler. 2 ranked teams in a week. 2 wins would be huge for any chance at the big dance. 2 losses wouldn't be death, but it would be a huge rock to move from in front of the tomb. 1-1 is what i'm really hoping for.

my back is aching today. not nearly as bad as a few days ago, but i can definitely feel some rain coming.

enjoying sports drama 101

if anyone happened to watch the USA vs. Canada in women's soccer earlier today you now understand why Manchester United's stadium is called The Theater of Dreams. what an amazing match. and seeing a late goal at the Stretford end of the stadium brings back some warm memories for sure. not long until Alex Morgan is the best female player in the world.

actually got some poetry work done today. opened up the files and picked out 8 poems that i will send out later this week. i would do it tomorrow but that day appears to be fully devoted to mowing the grass/weeds for the first time in over a month. fun fun fun.

also sent back my rough copy of Sofisticated White Trash so it won't be long now until that monster is on the streets. absolutely the best collection of my poems you will find anywhere. and each of my personal "holy shit i wrote that" poems are included. i will provide further details as they become available.

a little baseball, pro wrestling, maybe some Olympics and who knows what else is on tap for tonight. i will hopefully be resting my voice as i watch the USA men's basketball team play. ask anyone that knows me, when Alex Morgan scored that goal, the roar could probably be heard down the street. that's saying something when you live in the sticks.

music today:

random thoughts on a cloudy day

it rained all night and most of the morning. a light drizzle for the most part. a good soaking for the crops.

as i drove into town to get the mail, i thought about how i somehow still get a rush when i get published. same rush at 36 that i got at 19. i guess i really am doing what i was meant to be doing. though, i suppose the money comes after i die.

check out my new poem "the promised land" in the June issue of Underground Voices. check out the previous post for links.

i'll soon be off to the thriving hillbilly metropolis of Richmond, Indiana to do some shopping. and no, not for fireworks and liquor like most of the people from Ohio crossing the border. though, that's not a bad idea. all i'm really hoping for is a poem or two.

wanted to start the month off proper and i think i did just that. today's musical selections:

Butch Walker & The Black Widows - The Spade
The Black Keys - El Camino
Barenaked Ladies - Rock Spectacle
Outkast - Stankonia
