testing my patience...

the Yankees have been constantly testing my patience this season, especially with the bullpen. Clay Holmes blew another fucking save last night. i'm not sure why they insist on having a guy who doesn't strike everyone out as their closer. of course, it has been 15 years since they have won anything, so... they lost to Detroit last night, 3-2, in 10 innings. they are off tonight and start a series Tuesday at home against Cleveland.

the NASCAR race had to finish today because of the rain yesterday. sadly, neither driver i had money on to win did.

Big Brother was good last night.

Industry was excellent last night.

Last Week Tonight was BRILLIANT as usual.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Monday Night Raw and Name That Tune.

i hope everyone had a great weekend.

i might actually be able to turn the air conditioner off for a couple days this coming week.

i don't plan on watching any of the convention this week. i'll catch some highlights as i already know which way i am voting.

i got my orders in today from Topps and Death Wish Coffee. that made me happy.

i will hopefully write some poems tonight. i have a few ideas running in my head.

i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow.

if you're not cheating, you're not trying...

i picked up that logic when i was working at the airport as a cargo handler. and being that i am a very competitive person, it completely makes sense. so, that is why the sign stealing scandal in college football wasn't a huge deal to me. it was more of how did they get caught? that is the part of everything that i want to know. mostly so i never make the same mistake.

i did watch some of the college football final last night. Michigan beat Washington, 34-13. at least i made some money on it.

the New York Rangers lost last night at home to Vancouver, 6-3.

Manchester United won at Wigan yesterday, 2-0. they probably should have scored 4 or 5 goals honestly. at least they have advanced in the FA Cup. they will play Tottenham on Sunday at home in the Premier League.

Monday Night Raw was good last night.

here are your NBA highlights from last night:

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be NXT, Inside the NFL, Name That Tune and Hard Knocks.

i did watch that Nikki Giovanni documentary this afternoon. i highly recommend it.

i need to figure out dinner tonight and get the trash picked up. of course, we have a high winds warning for tonight, so i'm guessing the trash isn't going out tonight.

i should be on here tomorrow after i get the grocery shopping done.

my personal day long battle with pain

so i woke up at 3 and again at 5 this morning with my left shoulder and neck barking like a rabid dog. i tried stretching, i tried some cool pain ointments, i tried pain pills, i tried. nothing really worked. so, today has been the battle of mind over matter. i figure i really strained some muscles very badly. if i get my body in the right spot, i can stand the pain i feel. if i somehow lose that spot, it's like i'm dealing with my sciatic nerve back when i was 32. the worst is i have a hard time while sitting down. this is going to be fun, seeing that i have a basketball game to go to on Saturday morning. if today has been any indication, i'm going to have to up the adrenaline and brain waves for Saturday. of course, i get the feeling i would have been better off this morning just downing the bottle of whiskey i got for Christmas.

American Horror Story was excellent last night. so good to have that show back. the guest spot by Stevie Nicks was great as well. i can't wait to see next week's episode.

the New York Rangers shocked the shit out of me last night. jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period. then the team i have come to know this season showed up and pissed away that lead in the second period. but, they found a backbone last night and actually developed some heart. big goal in the 3rd and a HUGE win over Chicago 3-2. below are the highlights:

i believe my mother is on a mission today to get a new printer as she has FINALLY grown tired of our old one fucking up all the time. hopefully she gets one that i can get used to quickly.

i'm looking forward to a new episode of The Big Bang Theory this evening. other than that, i see a long night of basketball and heating pads in my future.

that's pretty much all for me today. wish me luck at defeating this pain. i figure if it still feels worse after the weekend, i guess i'll be breaking down and going to the doctor.

hope everyone is warm. amazingly, all the cats have made it through the deep freeze. little fuckers still want to live. might actually make it above freezing here by the weekend.

be well my friends. peace and chicken grease.

your arms are too short to box with god

this blog post is brought to you by The Sam Roberts Show Online, episode #40. you can find this episode on iTunes, Stitcher, and on http://notsam.com/podcast.html. give it a listen and enjoy.

the title line of this blog post is a line that CM Punk said to the Rock on this past Monday Night Raw. has to be one of the best lines i have heard from a heel in years. had me laughing my ass off. can't wait for 2 of the greatest talkers of all-time to go at it.

wasn't exactly shocked that no one was elected to the baseball hall of fame. figures i would have the joy of loving the sport and collecting baseball cards in an era that is now considered completely poisoned and worthless. over 50,000 pieces of cardboard and memories, or, how i look at them now, dust collectors. one of these days i'll find some fool that will want them.

also saw today that the NBA team i have rooted for since i was a child (Sacramento Kings) is close to being sold and moved to Seattle. if that happens, my NBA loyalty will be a free agent. i've got my eyes on a few spots, but i'll hold out hope that the team doesn't leave.

i've decided that for 2013 i'm going to try to listen to the oddest mix of music each day. check out today's music for an example.

huge game tonight for the Dayton Flyers. one the road at VCU. a tough way to start conference play. i'd love to see them win but to be honest, i fully expect a loss. and it doesn't get any easier as the home conference opener is against Butler. 2 ranked teams in a week. 2 wins would be huge for any chance at the big dance. 2 losses wouldn't be death, but it would be a huge rock to move from in front of the tomb. 1-1 is what i'm really hoping for.

my back is aching today. not nearly as bad as a few days ago, but i can definitely feel some rain coming.

music today:

Joe Bonamassa - Driving Towards The Daylight
Outkast - Aquemini

and now from the birthday boy
