coffee is on, time to go...

so, i gave myself an extra 30 minutes of sleep this morning. that gave me almost 4 hours for the night. good times.

Ohio State defeated Tulsa yesterday, 41-20. i wish the score actually resembled how much Ohio State struggled in the game. the defense still fucking sucks, but their freshman running back saved their asses yesterday. he had the third most rushing yards of any Ohio State player ever. and honestly, he probably could have had more.

the Yankees shit the bed yesterday and lost to Cleveland, 11-3. the only consistent thing about the Yankees this season has been just how fucking inconsistent they truly are. i hope they win today, i won't be watching.

ROH was excellent last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Scenes From a Marriage, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, Heels, Billions and American Rust.

Manchester United plays at West Ham in a little bit. i am really hoping they come out on fire this morning after the debacle in the Champions League.

the New Orleans Saints play today at Carolina. they are down 8 coaches because of COVID (all likely from playing in that cesspool of Florida last week), so the game should be interesting to say the least. hopefully, they will be healthy enough to get a win today.

i'm sure i will watch some other games today as well.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. best of luck gambling today.

i have no damn clue when i will be on here on Monday.

until tomorrow kids...

a productive laundry day...

i have my last load of clothes in the dryer. it was sunny today, so my arthritis wasn't flaring while trying to fold clothes. good times.

some poetry news and shit to get to first today. i wrote 10 poems yesterday while mom was having her physical therapy session. this session had to do with her shoulder. (it's in the process of freezing and there is an issue with the rotator cuff) i typed the 10 poems up last night and really like them. that brings me up to 88 poems for the month of February. i think i will probably get to 100 before the month is over.

i also heard back from Dan at Loch Raven Review on my poetry submission from back in December 2018. they decided to pass on the 6 poems i sent. i'll laugh when i get all of those published someplace else.

The Masked Singer was crazy last night. i got both of the singers that got eliminated correct. i'm pretty sure i know the 3 that are left as well.

You're The Worst was fucking hilarious last night.

Drop the Mic was pretty good last night.

NXT was really good last night.

NXT UK was really good last night as well.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon, Will & Grace, Gotham, Lip Sync Battle and Desus & Mero.

the New York Rangers play tonight at home against Minnesota. the trade deadline is in 4 days.

i did listen to episode 226 of Notsam Wrestling this morning. you can find that by going here:

still getting used to 60 degree days in February...

i think i am about 95% recovered from my cold now. i still get a cough every now and then, but it's not nearly as bad as it was before.

i listened to the latest Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast today. congrats to Sam and his wife on the new baby boy. you can find the podcast by going here:

i got some great FREE music today on NoiseTrade. i'll post the links below in the music section.

NXT was pretty good last night. i love that one of my favorite indie wrestlers of all-time(Chris Hero) is back. hopefully he gets a major push this time around.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, The Big Bang Theory, Life in Pieces and Baskets.

the New York Rangers play tonight at Toronto. it would be nice if the boys could get a win tonight. i need a drink.

mom wanted Chinese food for lunch today. i'm not a big fan of having body parts swell from too much salt, so i only got some pork egg rolls and crab rangoon. my fortune cookie made me laugh though. it said the mysterious side of your nature makes you most alluring. i laughed and wondered when a female is going to figure that out.

i'll be on here tomorrow sometime in the afternoon, hopefully.

the stages of grief

my mother surprised me today by deciding that she wanted to blow off the afternoon and go out to lunch. and then i happened to remember what day it was. today marks 12 years since my stepfather has passed on. i figured i better be on my best behavior as this day is very hard on her. we had a good lunch, though the place we wanted to go to was crowded as hell. so, we stopped by the sports bar we seem to be going to more often these days. they weren't that crowded but had only 3 waitresses working. damn good thing i was blessed with patience. after that, we did a little grocery shopping and came back home. i'm trying to give her some space as i fully understand there is no timetable or rules to the grieving process.

the Dayton Flyers fell into the same fucking hole they have fallen into so many times this season. once again starting a game with their heads completely up their fucking asses. the only difference this time, they picked the wrong team to fall behind. St. Joe's beat the living shit out of Dayton last night, 79-53. and quite honestly, it never felt like the game was that close. honestly, i didn't watch much after the 8 minute mark of the first half. and i doubt i missed much at all. they play Saturday at home in a MUST win game. i'd like to go and try my neck out at the game. all depends on the weather and how i'm doing. stay tuned.

so, by not watching basketball last night i did watch all of The Voice. i felt like the talent on night 2 was better than night 1. i don't have a favorite yet, though i do enjoy the chemistry between these 4 coaches much better than the original 4 coaches.

as for tonight, i have a couple of shows on FXX i want to watch, Legit and Ali G Rezurection. those both look funny as hell. i imagine i might squeeze in some Duck Dynasty, but if i can't find the time i won't be crestfallen. and as always, a little hockey and maybe some basketball. fantasy hockey is back in full swing, so i have to be on the ball for the push to the playoffs.

after i got home from the grocery store, i sent out 9 poems. 3 each to The Camel Saloon, Dead Snakes, and Pyrokinection. when i hear back from these places i will pass along the verdicts.

my disjointed sleep continues. after i took a shower last night i sat down in my chair to watch the news. next thing i know, it's 2:30 in the morning. so, i made a quick trip to YouTube to see what i missed. this looks like the only thing i really should have stayed up for:
i laughed my ass off at that.

that's all for me today. i hope this finds everyone well. until tomorrow bitches...

the long cold days

much as i figured, my Sunday was way better than my Saturday was. not that it had far to go to be much better...

the New York Rangers lost again 4-1. thankfully, i had other stuff i wanted to watch than be stuck watching professional athletes just basically show up and do nothing. they had a closed door meeting after the game. those only "work" when you win a few games after it. we'll see.

i have decent leads in both of my fantasy football matches. but, both of my opponents have 2 players each playing tonight. so, i guess i need to pay a bit of attention to that game tonight.

Homeland was excellent last night. had a great pace to it and plenty of drama. can't wait to the season finale next week. Masters of Sex was pretty good. my big bitch about the show is the lack of consistency from week to week. they say next week will be a shocking season finale. we'll see. Total Divas had me laughing my ass off. and not at the pet cat being put to sleep. although, that's part of the reason i keep all mine outside.

tonight is a busy night on the television. Monday Night Raw has the Slammy Awards tonight. that's usually a pretty fun episode. The Voice has a huge 1 hour show tonight seeing that it is the semi-finals. and i'm sure there are some college basketball games i should be watching.

congrats to Joe Torre for making the baseball hall of fame. i guess the Yankees can now retire his number 6.

looks like the deep freeze is getting ready to come here in the next few days. hopefully we have enough propane to get through that. had to put some ice melter on the walks this morning as they had a little black ice on them. last thing i need is my mother falling again.

a big thank you to Amazon.com for getting my stuff i ordered to me 4 days before you said it would be here. now only if the post office could be that good.

that's all for me. i hope you are warm wherever you are. peace and chicken grease.

enjoying a victory beer

if you'd like to know how my afternoon went, go here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8UpspGCR6Y

if that's how the Dayton Flyers season is going to go. i'll be dead before i turn 40.

just got back home from the sports bar. getting ready to crack open a beer and watch LSU vs. Alabama tonight.

other than that, i believe SNL is a rerun. i may check it out as i think it was the episode i missed because of the power being out. also, another episode of ROH late this evening.

my tomorrow is hectic beyond belief. Manchester United plays a must win game in the morning at home against Arsenal. then my usual 6 hours or so of the NFL. then the Sunday night shows, along with the New York Rangers playing as well as Total Divas coming back on. i hope i get some good sleep tonight as i obviously will be getting none tomorrow.

i would ramble longer but i am totally spent from the game. Dayton was a 17 point favorite. to win on a buzzer beater against a team that totally sucks... i'll take the win after so many heartbreaking losses last year but if this damn team doesn't get better on defense it's going to be a long ass season.

i'm out. if i find the time tomorrow, i'll write a quick one here. more likely it will be 2 or 3 in the morning.

and from the fog comes the monster...

yet another day of dense fog here. didn't really burn off until noon and it has already started creeping back in. i would understand if i lived by a body of water, but i don't. the guy who farms out here got a couple of rows of corn off last night before it started to rain. i have no clue when the rest of it will come off.

The Voice last night was really good. can't wait to the live shows. i think each team has a person that can win the show. but, the reason i think Blake has won 3 seasons in a row is the army of loyal fans he has built up. if he wins this season, i will be convinced it's simply because he has more loyal fans than the other 3 coaches.

i did watch a little of the start to the NBA season last night. i always try to watch a little of anytime LeBron plays. he's the best player on the planet right now, and quite frankly, it's not close.

i did watch more of the New York Rangers game than i thought i would. the highlights below will tell you why.

i did get a good number of the players i wanted in fantasy football. plus, it's always nice when you can plan ahead a few weeks and stash players away on your bench. hopefully i have 2 wins coming this week.

i'm looking forward to American Horror Story tonight. that should put me in the mood for Halloween.

i strongly recommend everyone check out episode 77 of the Sam Roberts Show Online. you can find it on iTunes, Stitcher, notsam.com, or by going down the right hand side of this blog. listen to it before you go out and potentially embarrass yourself with your Halloween costume.

that's all for today. i've got a dinner to put on and a shower to take. and i'm not exactly sure what order i'm going to do that in.

be well.

amazing what some sleep can do for you

i actually woke up in a decent mood today. maybe it was the shower yesterday, maybe it was the 2 extra hours of sleep i got. probably both.

i did watch American Horror Story last night. looks like it should be a pretty damn good season. the cast is amazing. i think it's funny that the older i get the more i seem to be getting into horror and shit like that. i guess i'm living my life in reverse.

Duck Dynasty was pretty funny last night. not being a fan of beef jerky myself, i had a few extra laughs at their attempt at jerky coming out tasting like shit.

busy night on the television this evening. The Big Bang Theory, a big NFL game, some playoff baseball, the New York Rangers out in Anaheim, plus all the other shit i tend to watch to avoid commercials.

i am hoping the NFL game turns out the way i want, i took Chicago in the knockout pools i'm in. i somehow have managed to not lose yet. plus, there are some fantasy implications this evening as well. i am favored in both of my fantasy matches. here's hoping that comes true.

spent most of today listening to music on YouTube and then i stumbled upon this video:
if that doesn't make you tear up a little, you have no fucking soul.

in a little poetry news, i heard from my good friend Janne Karlsson on a submission he sent out that included the cartoon he did of my poem "a faint notion of sweetness". apparently that has been accepted for publication in Tree Killer Ink. and i believe we are getting closer to seeing more of our collaboration be unleashed upon the earth. i really hope that comes to fruition. it's some of my best work ever.

that's all for today. hope this finds everyone well. a welcome back to reality to my friend in Sweden. put down one glass of wine and pick up the pen my friend. you have 2 hands for a reason. and they make special hats if you truly need more alcohol at once.

after the day of horror

where do i begin? might as well start at the beginning of the horror show that was my Sunday...

when i got the news that RvP was injured and not going to play against City, i was worried. but when i saw the lineup David Moyes put out i was mortified. how the fuck Ashley Young still plays for Manchester United is beyond me. why Kagawa can't get in a game is fucking ridiculous. a 4-1 loss that could have been much worse was fucking embarrassing. got so bad i didn't even bother watching the last 20 minutes or so. hopefully they play much better than that on Wednesday. don't think i can stomach another loss to Liverpool.

the ceremony for Mariano Rivera yesterday was great. had a feel of Old Timers Day and a Hall of Fame ceremony wrapped up into one. it was good to see some old faces and to see Metallica play live at it. after i got back from taking my mother and sister to the airport, it was just in time to see Andy Pettitte get pulled from the game. just in time to see DRob blow it and watch Mo get the final 5 outs. Yankees lose 2-1. fitting for how this fucking season has gone. and then find out today CC is done for the year with yet another damn injury. i have never seen a team get so many fucking injuries in one year in my life. thankfully, the playoffs are now in the not a fucking chance in hell category.

my fantasy football teams stunk yesterday. well, at least one of them did. i was really surprised to see i won my match on NFL.com with still 2 players to go tonight. thank you Drew Brees. as for the other one, i have no fucking chance on that. even with 2 guys going tonight. not a chance.

as for tv last night, Dexter ended pretty much the only way it could end. Ray Donovan had a twist i didn't see coming. Boardwalk Empire was brilliant as always.

got up this morning to a chilly home. kind of weird not hearing mom's country music playing coming down the steps. she usually forgets to turn her alarm off when she is away. had a ton of mail in the po box. i was surprised it all fit. 1 piece for me. got my laundry done today but somehow managed to strain my back doing that. needless to say i'll be laying on ice for the rest of the evening.

tonight will be a night of constant channel flipping. The Voice is back. on at the same time as Monday Night Raw and Monday Night Football.  and then hopefully my back cooperates and i can get my clean laundry back upstairs and put away without having to spend some time in the fetal position.

good times.

i'm hoping to get some music together to go sell tomorrow. not all of this music i take a chance on is a keeper. i might as well make some money back. plus, i need some more experience driving mom's SUV if she actually plans on letting me have it one day. i'm sure that won't happen until she gets close to 300,000 miles on it. sadly, she's much closer to that than you actually may believe.

until tomorrow. be well.

the mid week blahs

so, as i was watching the Yankees lose again last night, 2-0, i thought about what my October will be like without no baseball to give a shit about. it was right about then i flipped over to the NHL Network and watched the Rangers vs. Flyers last night.

sure, it was pre-season hockey, but still. much better than watching millionaires just not give a shit. plus, it's always nice to see the New York Rangers win in Philly anytime of the year. team looked pretty good last night.

didn't get all the players i was trying to get in fantasy football, so this is going to be an even longer week now. it wouldn't shock me if i get blown out in both games. and sadly, i won't really know the final results until late Monday night. fun.

the Big Brother finale is tonight. i can't imagine me watching more than a few minutes here and there. i would love to see Julie Chen let all the racists know they got fired from their real jobs while being on the show this summer. that would be some great television.

i suppose most of my viewing pleasure tonight will be between Duck Dynasty and The Bridge. The Bridge looks like one gripping hour tonight. hopefully it is.

waiting for the heating and air guy to show up. hopefully mom gets home before he arrives so i don't have to deal with it. i tend to have a short fuse when shit fucks up and i know it's not our fault. especially when it's something that wasn't installed properly to begin with. good times.

been listening to a ton of music today. might have a few things to write this evening.

i urge all of you to listen to #71 of the Sam Roberts Show Online, especially if you are a fan of pro wrestling, hip hop, celebrities, or radio in general. it truly is a fascinating podcast. scroll down the right hand side of this blog or go to notsam.com to listen.

one way to waste the afternoon

so i saw this morning that i would be able to watch Rio's testimonial this afternoon online for free. so i signed up and watched. Manchester United was dreadful, and by dreadful i'm being kind, in the first half. the second half didn't start much better. now keep in mind they were playing a Sevilla side that played last night! after about 60 minutes, they finally woke up. problem was they were already down 2-0. in the end, Manchester United loses 3-1. i truly hope this isn't how this season is going to go. the Community Shield against Wigan is this Sunday. it can only go up from here, i hope.

Wilfred last night reminded me why i don't do family christmas bullshit.

as for Big Brother, i'm really disappointed that Judd was the second eviction of the night. the females in the house are bound and determined to get all the guys out. the damn show is already at the point of being unfuckingwatchable as it is.

i didn't watch much of the preseason NFL games last night. all i'm interested in is who gets injured. it's getting close to fantasy draft time.

the Yankees are back home tonight against a Detroit team that hasn't lost in 2 weeks. i smell a human sacrifice coming on. of course, if the Yankees have any fucking pride at all, they will at least make these games competitive.

i heard back from my buddy Guntaj at Miracle Magazine on my recent poetry submission. one of my poems have made the first cut so far. i should know in a few weeks if it will be in issue #7. submissions are still open by the way.

today was as muggy as possible. nothing like walking outside to feed the animals and be instantly covered in sweat. and i learned a little something today. groundhogs eat cat food. looks like another phone call to critter control will be coming up soon. the groundhogs are staying in the den the raccoon that was caught was living in. if it's not one thing it's another...

depending how the Yankees game goes tonight, i think i'm going to try to knock out those 3 poems i need to write late tonight. i figure i should be nice and pissed off and need a release...

i do hope everyone has a good weekend.

a sunny, now rainy, now sunny again Monday

i was on the phone last night with the muse until almost 3:30 in the morning. i laugh at the problems the beautiful people get themselves into some time. amazingly, i've never had that problem.

the Yankees got just enough offense yesterday to win 2-1. these close games are driving me insane, or if my family has any say in it, more insane, and can't possibly be good for my health in general. but i damn sure enjoy the wins. they are off tonight before starting a series in Oakland.

i did watch a good portion of game 2 of the NBA Finals last night. that block LeBron had was one of the best i can ever remember on a dunk attempt.

the Sunday night shows were great as usual. i really liked Nurse Jackie last night.

tonight will be a mix of The Voice and Monday Night Raw. and if i remember, i will try to use the WWE app while i'm watching Raw. that is of course if my high speed internet is actually high speed this evening.

Critter Control was out here today. there are now some traps up for the various creatures out here that have been fucking with the cat food and bird feeders. should be interesting to see what they catch by morning. i did find out this weekend that there is a new coyote and 4 pups in the den in the back of the property. should be interesting to see how many cats go missing here in the next few days.

sunshine on a cloudy day

didn't sleep well at all last night. between my anger and the cold front moving through (that does wonders for my back) i doubt i slept more than a few hours.

after breakfast this morning i did get some good news. my mother got through her procedure this morning with no complications. that relieved my mind a bit. i never know how this shit is going to mess with her diabetes. she gets the results in 2 weeks. i'm going to do my best to stay positive during that time. i believe eliminating the crazy out of my life is a good start. of course, if anyone has any positive words to send my way, feel free. lord knows i could use them.

did listen to Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds new album "Push The Sky Away" this morning. you can find it here:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/musicblog/2013/feb/08/nick-cave-push-sky-away-stream
i really enjoyed it.

also, started reading "More Than The Alley" by Doug Draime. so far so good. i've always enjoyed Doug's work. you can find more info on the book here:
http://www.interiornoisepress.com/INP_HP_Draime.html
just judging from the first 50 pages alone, i'd recommend this book.

i did manage to write a quick poem today. i've got a feeling i'm going to be writing some pretty dark shit for the next few weeks. hopefully i'll write some more later on this weekend.

other than that, not much going on today. better than watching it snow i guess.

making the most of being evil

i woke up at 6:30 this morning. i really figured it was going to be a shit day. a day where i would replay that hideous fucking loss from the Yankees last night over and over again in my head. but, i then came across this news http://www.cnn.com/2012/08/28/us/montana-big-foot-accident/index.html.

the clouds started to part and the sun came out shining. i know, i know, i shouldn't find joy in the misery of others. that's evil. but guess what... the difference between myself and others is my complete lack of guilt. if evil is what you need to call me, i'm fine with that. i'll make the most of it and enjoy my time, thank you very much.

sent out a couple of queries today on some poems that have been out there for 3 to 4 months. i would like to get those loose ends tied up before i send out another huge batch of submissions. say hello to the anal freak inside of me that writes everything down. he needs to be fed every so often so that peace remains.

i suppose the rest of my day will be spent pondering the evil sense of humor mother nature has.

lazy ass sunday

i believe it's officially hotter than shit outside. and with a warm breeze that feels like someone left open the front door to hell. come back in and the air conditioning hits you and it's like instant sleep. i feel like a cat i've taken so many naps.

watched a little of the Indy 500. just how lucky can one motherfucker be?

waiting to hear back from The Electric Poet to see what poems they have accepted. always good to get the writing out to some new faces. check out their site at http://www.theelectricpoet.com/

as for music today, not sure what kind of mix i was shooting for. i believe i'm on auto-pilot today.

The Staple Singers - Platinum Gospel
Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears - Tell 'Em What Your Name Is!
Jeff Buckley - Mystery White Boy: Live 95-96
Fine Young Cannibals - The Raw & The Cooked

and to end this fucker out, i shall leave you with something that feels oddly appropriate given my mood, my lack of energy and my existence at the moment:
