and hockey begins once again...

i'm looking forward to this NHL season. i'm hoping Covid doesn't fuck with it too much, even though it has already fucked the Dallas Stars from starting their season on time. the Rangers start tomorrow night at home against the Islanders.

i did get all the grocery shopping done today. i stopped by Meijer because i needed some more sheets for the baseball cards. i was hoping to find some baseball cards today but none of the places i went had any. so, i picked up a tin of hockey cards at Meijer. i have never bought one of these tins before. there was 10 packs in the tin plus a bonus back of rookies. other than the rookie cards and a few cool inserts, the best thing about the tin was that Connor McDavid was on the front of it. i won't be buying another one, that's for sure. live and learn.

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, NXT, AEW, The Masked Dancer and Name That Tune.

the Dayton Flyers play at home tonight against Duquesne. Dayton should win this game, but i won't believe until i see it. i have learned my lesson already this season.

i made my eye appointment for next week. i believe it's next Tuesday afternoon. i wanted to get it done before my birthday. i need to get my license renewed as well, but i can't imagine what kind of shit show is going on at the DMV. i know Ohio has given us an extra 6 months to get this kind of shit done, so i think it's going to depend on the weather when i happen to go. and considering they are talking about snow this weekend, no fucking chance i'll get that done before my birthday most likely.

i'll be turning 45 in 8 days. any of you are more than welcome to go to my Amazon.com wish list and get me something if you so desire. i do have shit on there under $5 by the way.

no clue when i will be on here tomorrow. it should be long before the Rangers play tomorrow night.

could we do more than never forget?

it's rhetorical i know, but it seems this country is so fucking used to forgetting our history, 9/11, at least to me, is fading into that section of what we always do kind of shit. i can think of a few thousand people that would be greatly disappointed by this. of course, who really gives a fuck anymore?

the Yankees got rained out last night, so they are playing a doubleheader today against the Orioles. they are well on their way to winning the first game. the Yankees are up 6-0 in the bottom of the sixth. oh alcohol, my old friend...

Holey Moley was crazy last night.

NXT UK was really good last night. i can't wait for the new shows to start.

Big Brother went as i expected last night. Bayleigh was evicted and Dani is the new HOH.

here are your highlights from the NBA last night:

here are your highlights from the NHL last night:

i did watch some of the NFL game last night. the Chiefs do look scary on offense once again. they beat the Texans, 34-20.

i sent out 29 poems this afternoon, 3 each to Red Eft Review, Terror House Magazine and The Beatnik Cowboy; 5 each to Horror Sleaze Trash, The Ramingo's Porch, Misfit Magazine and Synchronized Chaos. i will pass along the verdicts when i hear back from these places.

on the DVR tonight will be Smackdown, Room 104 and Real Time with Bill Maher. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on WWE Network.

i had to take mom to her bank today to deposit a check. after that, we went to the drugstore to get some things. i picked up a box of football cards. got my first hit ever from one of those Fairfield boxes. it was a numbered card from around 2005 or so. worth just about as much as the box cost.

i was up until 5 this morning working on my baseball cards. i'm trying to get the albums better organized, so i know where shit is. plus, i am finding a good amount of cards i have missed over the last few months.

it has felt like it's going to rain all damn day. joy.

my sister should be down here tomorrow afternoon. i think she is spending the night.

i am going to try to be on here in the morning tomorrow. since Manchester United aren't playing, i'm going to try to be on here before the Premier League really gets going.

i hope everyone has a great weekend. Gerrit Cole just threw a 2 hit shutout for the Yankees, saving the bullpen for game 2 of the doubleheader. should be happy night now.

it almost rained for 20 minutes today...

the guy that cuts our grass showed up just as the second rain shower of the day was starting. of course, 10 minutes later it was over. within 20 minutes, you would have never known it had rained at all. eventually, i guess the grass will be a different shade of brown.

anyone interested in some baseball cards? most of the cards are from 1959-1992 and 2014-2020. i have most of the big rookies from those years. i have some old cards that are in really good shape for being over 50 years old. and i have probably over 50,000 cards overall. so, if you have a player in mind or a favorite team or year, feel free to drop me a line and i'm sure i'll find something for you. i'm not looking to screw anyone over with selling these, it's simply time to sell them off. i need the space and i need the money. and if you know anyone who might be interested, please pass this info along. thanks.

i sent out 17 poems this morning. 3 each to Ephemeral Elegies and The Beatnik Cowboy; 5 to Synchronized Chaos and 6 to Record Magazine. when i hear back from these places, i will pass along the verdicts.

NXT UK was another best of last night.

Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows.

both episodes of Cake last night were excellent.

Holey Moley was hilarious last night.

Don't was pretty good last night.

Desus & Mero was fucking great last night.

the waiting game

was told the plumber would be here today after 3:30 in the afternoon. we're now at the 2 hours past that time, so they have that right. but i highly doubt he's showing up after 6 pm. but shit, it's only been 5 weeks since he was supposed to last show up, what's another day or so. FUCKING RIDICULOUS.

the New York Rangers lost last night, 2-1. they did just about everything right but score more goals. i still believe they will start consistently burying their chances SOON. Rick Nash looked pretty damn good for his first game in 6 weeks. and he felt good today at practice, so hopefully the concussion is behind him now.

i did get to watch the highlights of the USA loss to Austria yesterday. why the whole world doesn't have goal line technology in 2013 is beyond me. the USA clearly got hosed on what would have been the opening goal of the game.

the 2 that went home last night on The Voice didn't really surprise me. i thought Austin was going home last week and Kat was in the bottom 3 for the second week in a row. but now, with just 8, it's going to be cutthroat from now on. my best guess is that Matthew will win it all this season. the guy is beyond talented.

the Dayton Flyers play at Georgia Tech tonight. instead of fucking with the internet and watching the game on ESPN3, i think i will just listen on the radio. i'd love for them to upset their former coach tonight but i highly doubt they will pull it off. probably a close game though, hopefully.

i'm looking forward to American Horror Story tonight. one of my favorite shows on television right now.

i've got way too many injuries to deal with this week in fantasy football. i might have to give up some players i don't want to to make sure i can have a full team for this week. not fun, especially when you really need to win both matches this week to solidify playoff positions. the fun of checking twitter accounts of beat reporters and NFL insiders will start late tonight.

been missing the same 2 cats at feeding time for the last 3 days. kind of weird. not sure if they are hiding or enjoying a siesta away from the farm. the one usually goes missing for weeks on end and then shows. the other, not so much. we should have some bad weather rolling in over the weekend. if they aren't around when that happens, i'll definitely start to think that they are gone.

that's all for me today. hope everyone is well and warm.

in case you ever wondered where the magic comes from

let me peel back the onion on a 30 minute snapshot of my life and basically, where all my poetry comes from.

at 12:30 each afternoon, i am usually getting the stuff together to feed the cats. today, i happened to be on the toilet. no big deal, i'll just feed the cats later. about 20 minutes later, i'm feeding the cats. didn't see many of them, but it was sunny out and i figured they were hunting. i got back inside and the phone was ringing. it's my mother. i talked to her for a few and then got ready to go into town to get the mail. as i started down the 1/4 mile lane i got an urge to shit. at the end of the lane, i picked up the empty trash cans and threw them in the back of my barely running old truck. i raced back up the lane and ran inside. i made the old bathroom and pulled down my pants. shit was falling out of my ass right as i sat down on the bowl. i looked up and there is a mirror right above the sink where you can see your face as you are sitting on the toilet. i said out loud

AND YOU WONDER WHY YOU'RE  STILL SINGLE?

i laughed and started a conversation with myself as the bowl filled up with brown liquid. i don't think it could be called shit at this rate. and if you ever wonder where many of my poems come from, it's those damn conversations with myself on the toilet.

enjoy the visuals.

the Sunday night shows were pretty damn good last night. i have no complaints with any of them.

i feel bad for my mother. she sits there all day long on Sunday listening to me bitch and moan about my fantasy teams. and then i checked them late last night and i'm up by 34 in one and by over 60 in the other. and all i can think about is if i would have started this guy i'd be up by... i'm not quite satisfied until it's perfect. that's why sports are so insatiable to me. perfection is beyond rare.

no need for me to watch the NFL game tonight. while both of my opponents have players going, they could have the greatest game ever and still not catch me. so, it will be a night bouncing between The Voice and Monday Night Raw.

when i got up for my morning piss i heard on the radio that there is a chance for snow later this week. i just shook my head and laughed.

well, that's all for today. hopefully i will come to you tomorrow without yet another shit story to share.

the mid week blahs

so, as i was watching the Yankees lose again last night, 2-0, i thought about what my October will be like without no baseball to give a shit about. it was right about then i flipped over to the NHL Network and watched the Rangers vs. Flyers last night.

sure, it was pre-season hockey, but still. much better than watching millionaires just not give a shit. plus, it's always nice to see the New York Rangers win in Philly anytime of the year. team looked pretty good last night.

didn't get all the players i was trying to get in fantasy football, so this is going to be an even longer week now. it wouldn't shock me if i get blown out in both games. and sadly, i won't really know the final results until late Monday night. fun.

the Big Brother finale is tonight. i can't imagine me watching more than a few minutes here and there. i would love to see Julie Chen let all the racists know they got fired from their real jobs while being on the show this summer. that would be some great television.

i suppose most of my viewing pleasure tonight will be between Duck Dynasty and The Bridge. The Bridge looks like one gripping hour tonight. hopefully it is.

waiting for the heating and air guy to show up. hopefully mom gets home before he arrives so i don't have to deal with it. i tend to have a short fuse when shit fucks up and i know it's not our fault. especially when it's something that wasn't installed properly to begin with. good times.

been listening to a ton of music today. might have a few things to write this evening.

i urge all of you to listen to #71 of the Sam Roberts Show Online, especially if you are a fan of pro wrestling, hip hop, celebrities, or radio in general. it truly is a fascinating podcast. scroll down the right hand side of this blog or go to notsam.com to listen.

that's pretty much all for today. i'll be back tomorrow to begin my bitching about week 3 of the NFL season.
