so, i guess i really needed some sleep last night as i just completely passed out in my massage chair around 12:15. i woke up at 3:53 and was shocked. i didn't even do mom's eyes before she fell asleep. i apologized to her this morning about that. as usual, i'm guessing it was the gin.
here are your two videos for this day of National Poetry Month:
the New York Rangers won last night at the Islanders, 9-2. they won all 4 games this season against the Islanders for the first time in over 20 years.
Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage was pretty funny last night.
i did watch some college hockey last night.

on the DVR tonight will be Smackdown and Real Time with Bill Maher.
the Yankees play tonight at home against the Giants.
so, i wrote 2 poems yesterday while mom was doing physical therapy. i typed those up after i watched the second half of the Manchester United game.
it was 1-1 when i started watching. United took a late lead and i honestly thought they could see the game out. silly me. they gave up a goal at the death of the game, 96th minute. 2-2 in the first leg against Lyon in the Europa League. second leg will be next week at Old Trafford.
i'll probably be on here tomorrow in the morning.
i hope everyone has a great weekend.

so, the reason the check engine light was on in the Highlander was due to the same damn reason as three times before. the hose that goes into the air box came loose. as the guy at the dealership told me, that should never happen. so, me made a note in my account and also didn't charge me anything. now, if i could just get that hour back in the waiting room watching fox news. holy shit, no wonder so many people in this country are fucking dumb.
here are your 3 videos for this day of national poetry month:
the Yankees won last night at home against Oakland, 7-3. hopefully, they will win again tonight.

i am running on roughly 3 hours of sleep, so at some point i will crash, that's for certain.
i did get 2 poems written today. i was hoping for a lot more than that. but, i can only squeeze so much water out of the rock anymore.
i have no damn clue when i will be on here tomorrow.

i'm back to not sleeping well again. i couldn't fall asleep until almost 5 this morning. i was back up at 9, rinse, repeat, start the day. the cycle never ends it seems.
the Yankees finally won yesterday. they beat the Mets 2-1. they play a doubleheader this afternoon. i'm hoping they start a winning streak now.
here are your NBA highlights from yesterday:
i did watch some of the NHL yesterday as well.
ROH was really good last night.

i needed 2 more packs of sleeves last night to do all the baseball cards i have pulled. so, i'm really hoping with my next order it will be my last one for some time. i did find a few really good cards last night. i finally got the prices on some of the new ones.
i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow.

the guy that cuts our grass showed up just as the second rain shower of the day was starting. of course, 10 minutes later it was over. within 20 minutes, you would have never known it had rained at all. eventually, i guess the grass will be a different shade of brown.
anyone interested in some baseball cards? most of the cards are from 1959-1992 and 2014-2020. i have most of the big rookies from those years. i have some old cards that are in really good shape for being over 50 years old. and i have probably over 50,000 cards overall. so, if you have a player in mind or a favorite team or year, feel free to drop me a line and i'm sure i'll find something for you. i'm not looking to screw anyone over with selling these, it's simply time to sell them off. i need the space and i need the money. and if you know anyone who might be interested, please pass this info along. thanks.
i sent out 17 poems this morning. 3 each to Ephemeral Elegies and The Beatnik Cowboy; 5 to Synchronized Chaos and 6 to Record Magazine. when i hear back from these places, i will pass along the verdicts.
NXT UK was another best of last night.
Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows.
both episodes of Cake last night were excellent.
Holey Moley was hilarious last night.
Don't was pretty good last night.
Desus & Mero was fucking great last night.

well, after a mere 3 hours of sleep last night, i decided i had to go to the doctor. thankfully, i was able to get an appointment this morning. i thought it was going to be with one of the nurse practitioners in his practice. little did i know, it was with him. we talked about my liver some. he said while my levels were elevated, they weren't high enough to be of much concern. so guess who is going back to drinking? he offered me either pills or shots for my cold. i said since they were taking blood from me today anyway, might as well give me the shots. so his assistant, the one who looks like a crush i had in my early teens, gave me two shots; an antibiotic and a steroid. the doctor said that should do the trick. hopefully, he is right.
after i got home, i had to take mom to go vote. after that, we went to the post office. amazingly, the mail got delivered here before fucking noon.
i figure the drugs they put me are going to make me tired soon. or at least i hope.
The Voice was really good last night. i have no clue which two are going to be eliminated tonight.
Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night.

i'll probably watch a little of the NBA playoffs tonight as well.

i wrote 4 poems yesterday, completely out of the blue. those 4 poems actually filled up the notebook i've been writing in for the last 15 months. i typed them up and i have to admit, i really like these 4. i will probably include them in my next round of submissions, which i hope to get out before the end of the month.
i guess a little nostalgia helped the New York Yankees yesterday. after the retirement of Jorge Posada's #20, they actually scored some runs for their rookie pitcher. congrats to Severino on his first MLB win as the Yankees won 6-2. they will go for the split in the series today after the retirement ceremony for Andy Pettitte. his #46 will be going into Monument Park.
the wrestling last night was excellent. ROH was great. so great that i'm recording it again today. NXT Takeover: Brooklyn was off the charts great. the women's match between Sasha Banks and Bayley was one of the best women's matches i have ever seen. the storytelling was incredible. i felt sorry for Finn Balor and Kevin Owens to have to go after that one. but the lasting image of this event will be what happened after the women's match.
these 4 ladies are the revolution and i have no doubt they will all succeed in this business. i doubt tonight's SummerSlam will come close to NXT last night. although, i wouldn't mind being wrong about that.
also on the DVR last night was the Austin City Limits performance from Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds. always good to have that one on hand just in case i need some inspiration.
enjoy some music and a kick ass poem perfect for a Sunday:
other than SummerSlam tonight, on my DVR will be the season finales of The Brink and Ballers; The Strain, Ray Donovan, Big Brother, Masters of Sex and Last Week Tonight. i have no clue when i will get around to watching all of them.
i helped mom this morning do some work in the flower beds and then put up some shelves in the garage. that certainly helped getting some shit off of the floor in the garage. plus, it will now force mom to go through the shit out there.
i figure at some point today i need to work in a shower and a nap. wrestling is going to be 4 hours long tonight, so i would hope not to be an old man and fall asleep before it's over.
that's all for me today kids. i hope everyone had a great Saturday. hopefully your Sunday will be even better.

let me start a blog post off for once with something positive. i listened to the Dayton Flyers take on Georgia Tech down in Atlanta last night. Dayton started off the game asleep at the wheel, getting down 7-0 in the first minute or so. unlike last year, panic never settled in. they battled back and eventually got the lead, finishing the first half on a 15-2 run. up 7 at the break. and the thing i loved the most about this game, the lead never got down below 5 in the second half. Dayton wins 82-72. 3 players had career highs. HUGE road win. should make the flight out to Maui much easier on the legs. next game is Monday at Midnight against Gonzaga. if they pull off that upset, i will be ape shit nuts about this team. this does mark 10 years since the last time Dayton went out there for that tournament. (they won it by the way)
my mother had an interesting experience last night. around 8 or so, she called the plumbing place wanting to know what the fuck was going on. turns out the secretary told the plumber my mother had cancelled the appointment. needless to say, we now have a $75 credit with the company and the plumber came out here today and everything is fine now. the plumber did apologize, more or less saying the secretary was having "one of those days" yesterday. i laughed and told him no biggie, shit happens. it's all good now. especially since all of this work has been under warranty.
been hunting for info all day long on my injury concerns for fantasy football. 2 of my guys practiced, which is a huge relief. that usually means they will play on Sunday. as for the other one, i'll have to just wait until the inactives for tonight are listed. and then hope to hell my internet isn't slow.
American Horror Story was excellent last night. a couple of twists i didn't see coming. next episode is in 2 weeks.
i am looking forward to The Big Bang Theory this evening. after that, it will be flipping the channels between the NFL game and the New York Rangers playing in Dallas. hopefully both results are in my favor.
i did make a couple of moves today in fantasy hockey. i am hoping they help my team immediately as i am on the verge of running away with the regular season.
a quick cat update: the one that usually goes missing for weeks on end did show up today. i figure it wanted a full meal before the next storm rolls in. no sign of the other one. i guess i will be checking all the usual "dead" spots after this weekend. at least i haven't smelled any signs of death here lately. there's nothing that will stain the nose forever like that smell.
that is all for me today. hope everyone is well.

just spent the last hour of my life trying to get this blog to even load. i just fucking love Frontier Communications. i imagine if this service doesn't get any better soon, my main goal in life will be to bring that company to its knees.
a quick recap from yesterday...
the Yankees took the day off and didn't give a shit about what happened in the game. a 10-4 loss which gave the Twins their first series win in New York since i was in my mid 20's and still thought i could get pussy at any time i wanted. my, how times have changed. thankfully, there is no baseball for the next 4 days other than the All Star shit i couldn't care about if i tried. so, the Yankees are out of my mind and considering the first series back is in Boston, they may stay out of my mind for quite some time.
i watched bits and pieces of the NASCAR race. a decent day for my fantasy team.
Big Brother bored me as i pretty much knew what happened already. i just wanted to see if they were going to show more racial shit, which they did. i can't wait for when these fucks get outside of the house.
The Newsroom was superb last night. i am a language whore so i love shows that are verbose and fast. i give Sorkin credit, he's never let me down in that regard.
Ray Donovan was great as well. i laughed my ass off with the library scene. i imagine that will be me in my 60's or 70's. watching black women twerk on the screen as i tell some young punk next to me i'm an ass man.
judging from the reports i read from the Money in the Bank PPV last night, tonight's Monday Night Raw should be outstanding. i'm really interested to see how all the shockers from last night play out over the next few weeks. plus, RVD should be there. and with Heyman turning on CM Punk last night, all i can imagine is a verbal exchange for the ages. which also means that Brock Lesnar should be there for the angle to really explode. all in all, should be an interesting 3 hours. and the more interesting it is, the less tempted i will be to watch the Home Run Derby tonight.
i got invited to send poems to 2 magazines today. one i know has to be in by the end of this month. i guess i need to get my shit together here quickly. plus, i have a print zine i need to send to as well. thankfully, the weather sucks at the moment so i will gladly sit in the air conditioning and go through poems.
looks like we had some hungry deer visit the bird feeders last night. i sprayed the repellent today. what a god awful smell, especially when it's already 90 when you are spraying. thankfully there wasn't much wind.
hope the weather and the internet service is better in your neck of the woods...
music today:
Johnny Cash - American VI: Ain't No Grave
The Allman Brothers Band - The Allman Brothers Band
Walk The Moon - Walk The Moon
Elvis Costello - The Best Of Elvis Costello: The First Ten Years
Foster The People - Torches

with all 3 of my fantasy football teams having players playing tonight, thankfully the NFL season can, at least for one night, allow me to think certain things don't exist. like the fucking Yankees for example. nice work pissing away a 10 game lead in a matter of 48 days. not that i keep track of shit like that or anything.
and with one of the players i have tonight being injured, my ass will be glued to this chair checking injury reports and rumors and twitter bullshit to get the latest news. not exactly sure what i'm going to do this weekend when i'll be at a music festival while the games are on. i lost one fantasy championship 2 seasons ago basically because i didn't have a cell phone to be able to check my team and make a needed change. it's not as easy as you think living life as a stubborn asshole.
if i can go my whole life without a cell phone a part of me will be more proud than (insert your insanity, hilarity or inane bullshit here please).
for any gamblers out there, the home team has never lost any of these midweek season openers. just a little nugget to think about.
and now for an uplifting story from my hometown to leave you with, please go here to understand why i never allow any of the pets inside.

my internet was out from 8:15 this morning to 5:09 this afternoon/evening. that's alot of time to fill.
so, i want to thank the Dan Patrick Show, a trip to the post office, doing the dishes, reading the paper, jerking off to QVC (don't ask) and my constant need for music for getting me through the day. i don't know if i have ever played chess vs. the computer so many times in one day. i actually won a few for a change.
waiting on Parise and Suter to stop holding NHL free agency hostage. after those two make up their minds, the Rick Nash sweepstakes can begin. if the Rangers can get him without giving up any of the key kids, i'm all for it. it seems like he wants to be in New York, a welcome change from most years.
with the holiday approaching i'm hoping to get some writing done. those are my current plans for the 4th of July. i'd like to have a big submission pile by mid July, hopefully to take my mind off my book coming out soon. anxiety can be a mother fucker at times.
afternoon music:
Foster the People - Torches

Iron Maiden - The Number of the Beast
