apparently, i was tired...

i wanted to get up early this morning since mom had a doctors appointment at noon. so, when the phone rang and woke me up at 10, i was like oh shit. i got mom up, took my one pill and then took a piss. thankfully, not my first rodeo, so we did get to the appointment on time. now, on the way there, the check engine light came on. well shit. the earliest appointment i could get for it was Nov. 5th. well shit. good thing i have already voted.

i did write 3 poems last night. i got them typed up and saved, etc. i will hopefully send some poems out later tonight. fingers crossed.

the season finale of The Old Man was excellent last night.

i hope everyone has a great weekend.

running on empty...

so, i got to bed around 6:15 this morning. got almost 4 hours of sleep. i knew it was going to be hell doing the grocery shopping today. i also had to go to Rite Aid to get a prescription and something for my mother. i think people knew to keep away when they saw me today. because when the bags under the eyes get bad and i feel like shit, i do give off a look of do you really think you want to do this? good times.

the grocery shopping went pretty good today. i got to it a little later than normal, mostly since i didn't have breakfast today until noon. i was hoping that was going to give me some energy, but no.

NXT was very good last night.

Inside the NFL was good last night.

both episodes of Welcome to Wrexham were excellent last night.

Name That Tune was pretty funny last night.

Big Brother was good last night.

The Voice was very good last night.

i think i found the one...

so, i think i finally found the perfect woman for me. now, it is just a matter of convincing her that she is the one and how the fuck can we erase these miles between us. but, this might be the fire that actually lets me live past the age of 50. so, that's some pretty amazing news for today.

the New York Knicks won last night over Orlando, 115-102.

here are your NBA highlights from last night:

The Voice was really good last night. i believe tonight is the last night of battles.

Monday Night Raw was excellent last night.

The Vow was good last night.

Avenue 5 was hilarious last night.

the New York Rangers play at home tonight against Colorado. i hope they play much better than they did on Sunday.

i did get mom to physical therapy on time today. i wrote 1 poem while in the waiting room. i typed that up this afternoon. i think it is pretty good. i got her to her Compunet appointment on time. i will probably have to take her back in the morning most likely.

a big thank you to everyone for checking out my latest published poems:

i should be on here tomorrow after i get all the grocery shopping done.

a day to forget...

so, in hindsight, i am happy that i got the blog done yesterday before Manchester United played. if i would have done the blog after the match against Liverpool, i would probably be in jail right now. United got humiliated at home by Liverpool, 5-0. i turned the game off after 3-0 as i was already in enough pain from the weather. i should feel surprised that the manager hasn't been fired yet, but i'm not. the owners of Manchester United are imbeciles and have no interest in actually winning. they want to own the club to make money and that's it. now, the British media is having fun announcing all the potential candidates for the job; Antonio Conte, Zinedine Zidane, etc. i would take either compared to Ole at the moment.

to be honest, i have been stuck in first gear since that game. i'm hoping the games tonight (Saints and Rangers) snap me out of it.

here are your NBA highlights from last night:

Axios was good last night.

Succession was great last night.

Insecure was excellent last night.

Curb Your Enthusiasm was fucking hilarious last night.

Last Week Tonight was brilliant as usual.

BMF was good last night.

Hightown was really good last night.

American Rust was fucking amazing last night. just two episodes remain.

Desus & Mero was very fucking funny last night.

enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be The Voice, The Masked Singer and Monday Night Raw.

the New Orleans Saints play at Seattle tonight on Monday night football. hopefully, the Saints will win.

the New York Rangers play at home tonight against Calgary. hopefully, they can keep on winning.

i did listen to episode 366 of Notsam Wrestling today. you can listen to that by going here:

i got my order of baseball cards from Etsy.com today. they were supposed to be all before 1979 and thankfully, they were. the cards were from 1960 to 1976. all were decent and i am very happy with the purchase. here is a link to the place i got the cards from:

this coffee better work...

i'm still working on a huge mug of coffee this morning. i didn't get to sleep until 5 this morning. ah, the joys of a poet's life on the weekend. where watching porn is actually "research" and sleep is an option that no one ever fucking needs. i guess Wild Turkey had more of a say in the night than i even thought.

Manchester United played a lifeless 0-0 draw yesterday against Chelsea. the optimist in me could say well, at least they didn't lose at home or the defense played good enough for a clean sheet finally. but, i'm not a fucking optimist.

Ohio State whipped Nebraska yesterday, 52-17. considering Nebraska scored first and made it look really easy, i was pleased with how the defense stepped up over the course of the game. next up for Ohio State is a trip to Penn State next Saturday night.

i did watch a good portion of Indiana upsetting Penn State in OT yesterday. i guess someone got caught looking ahead.

i also caught the last half inning of the World Series last night. that was fucking crazy.

ROH was excellent last night.

Saturday Night Live was pretty funny last night.

Austin City Limits had Rufus Wainwright on last night. it was excellent.

enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be Our Cartoon President, The Good Lord Bird, The Comedy Store, Desus & Mero, The Undoing, Last Week Tonight and Seduced: Inside The NXIVM Cult. i'll be watching WWE Hell in a Cell for most of the evening.

the New Orleans Saints play at home today against the Panthers. New Orleans is missing a ton of players today between injuries and COVID-19. i'm bracing for the worst today.

i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow. i'm hoping for the early afternoon, but given how the weather is supposed to be around here, your guess is as good as mine.

sometimes it's a dull pain that never goes away...

these are the days where i understand the alcoholic gene inside of me is actually there to help. it's been a cloudy, dreary day with a ton of fucking rain on the way. i've been in fucking pain all damn day long. the stretching doesn't help, the exercises didn't help, so now i suppose it's either drugs or alcohol. good times.

i did listen to the latest episode of Notsam Wrestling late last night. you can find that by going here:
http://notsam.com/wrestlingpodcast/2019/10/24/the-rocknrolla-returns-thursday-notsam-thursday

i did watch a good portion of the MLS playoffs last night. i fucking love that they have gone to single elimination games for the playoffs. makes the games so much more meaningful right from the start.

Young Sheldon was good last night.

The Unicorn was very good last night.

Perfect Harmony was funny last night.

Will & Grace was fucking hilarious last night. easily one of my favorite comedies of all time.

Desus & Mero was excellent last night.

NXT UK was really good last night.

Mr Inbetween was really good as well last night.

enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be Smackdown, WWE Backstage, The Shop, Real Time with Bill Maher and Room 104. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on WWE Network.

the New York Rangers ended their losing streak last night with easily, the best game they have played this season. they defeated a really good Buffalo team 6-2. hopefully this is a game they will build upon.

i will be on here tomorrow before Ohio State plays at noon.

the grocery store today was a sea of elderly people and me exercising every ounce of restraint i have.

that's all for me kids. i have a round of neck exercises i need to do and a desperate need to ice my body down after that.

i hope everyone has a great Friday night.

that moment when you realize your mother is suddenly old...

mom asked me if i had any plans today. i thought that was curious given that my life is more or less doing whatever she asks me to do. when i told her no, she said she wanted to cook a good lunch. i laughed as lunch has now become her biggest meal of the day. so, about 30 minutes later, i noticed mom was sleeping in her bed. well, so much for that lunch. i did a round of exercises and got in my massage chair to take a damn nap. sure enough, about 30 minutes or so later, i hear her in the kitchen making food. so, i basically had dinner at 4 PM today. i told her thanks for getting me ready for the days where you'll want dinner before 5 and you'll be in bed by 7 so then i can actually have a life. she laughed. later on i told her if this is going to become the regular thing, it might be time for my sister to start taking some shifts. we both laughed at that thought.

i tracked my absentee ballot today. the state of Ohio got it yesterday and it will be included. oh boy.

the season finale of Mr. Mercedes was fucking great last night.

American Horror Story was fucking crazy last night.

Lucha Underground was really good last night. Ultima Lucha Cuatro starts next week.

Total Divas was pretty good last night. Rusev is a lucky, lucky man, that's for sure.

NXT was great last night. i love a damn good heel turn. i can't wait to see what they do with Johnny Gargano now.

205 Live was good last night.

NXT UK was really good last night.

Mae Young Classic was excellent last night. i really can't wait to see Toni Storm take on Io Shirai in the finals. that will happen this Sunday at WWE Evolution.

the New York Rangers play tonight in Chicago. i'd love to see the Rangers win again tonight.

i will probably watch some of the NFL game tonight as well, mostly because of the muse and her fantasy football team.

i could tell this afternoon while i was taking a shit there was rain coming. enjoy that visual.

and of course it would rain tomorrow. Friday is when i do the grocery shopping. fuck me.

i got a portable bluetooth speaker yesterday at Menards. basically, i wanted to have some music playing when i'm showering. it worked perfect today.

we got our season tickets from the University of Dayton today. i'm really hoping mom can go to the basketball games this season. she changed our seats so she wouldn't have to walk so far down. it will be the first time i think i have had a different ticket for a game at UD Arena since i was a child. i'm interested to see how my superstitious ass deals with this.

if i get a wild hair up my ass this evening, i might do some poetry work and get another round of submissions ready to go out before the end of the month.

i will probably be on here tomorrow after getting the grocery shopping done.

i saw my next 5 months flash before my eyes today

mom had a doctor's appointment today with the doctor she went to see when she first thought she was having memory problems. she thought the visit was just going to be finding out what she could do to help her feel like she's remembering things better. in other words, a google search. instead, she now will get a brain MRI, another memory test, physical therapy for her gait, blood work and god knows what else. as the doctor was rattling this shit off, all i could see was afternoons spent in waiting rooms scribbling poems into a little notebook, just like 15 or so months ago. joy.

after all that, mom wanted to go to lunch. we went to the place we used to always go when i had to take her south of town for physical therapy. my bright ass decided to get something a little spicier than before, since it was a little chilly today here. let's just say i have a new poem i have written about having to take a shit and you're about 10 minutes from home and there's traffic.

i realized i forgot to mention the New York Rangers loss in yesterday's blog. that should show just how much this team has disappointed me this season. they play Arizona tomorrow night. i almost give a shit.

Smackdown was pretty good last night.

205 Live was pretty good as well last night.

The Jim Jefferies Show was fucking hilarious last night.

American Horror Story was excellent last night.

Drop the Mic was much better than i thought it was going to be last night.

The Voice was pretty good last night. i'm ready for the knockout rounds now.

enjoy some music:

hard to believe that Dayton will play an exhibition game in just 10 days. college basketball is almost here.

i'll be on here pretty early tomorrow as my afternoon will be filled with taking mom to another doctor's appointment, grocery shopping and getting a battery replaced for the spare car keys.

that's all for me today kids.

when the days just start running together

when the weather cools down and the sunshine appears to be hiding for most of the day, the blahs tend to start coming out and the days just run together. sprinkle in some apathy and a heavy disdain for life, and you have the recipe for depression my friends. i try to keep myself busy, which tends to keep me from thinking. or diving too deep into this vast unknown swimming in my head. of course, that means i spend most of the day just listening to music or reading old magazines. i imagine if i had money, my day would be spent doing other things.

there wasn't much of Monday Night Raw that was good last night. i enjoyed the brawl between Owens and Rollins that ended the show. i also enjoyed the contract signing for the first ever women's hell in a cell match. other than that, the show stunk. and that's not a good sign with a ppv coming up on Sunday.

The Voice entered the knockout stage last night. some of the performances were fucking amazing.

Vice News Tonight was excellent last night.

Gotham was spectacular last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Smackdown, The Voice and Atlanta.

the NBA season starts tonight as does the World Series. just a few months ago i was exactly where most of the eyes of the sports world will be tonight. Cleveland, Ohio. the Cavs will be hoisting the championship banner at the same time the Indians will be playing the Cubs in the World Series. talk about a clear sign the world is coming to an end.

here's some artwork from the Swedish genius Janne Karlsson, with lines taken straight from this blog:

i'll be on here tomorrow, probably right after the Manchester United game with Manchester City ends. the latest edition of the Manchester derby comes in the EFL Cup. i believe this is the round of 16 or something like that. i have no damn clue how United is going to play after the Chelsea debacle. hopefully i'll be in a good mood. if not, simply expect a few lines of expletives. and then a few more.

derby day

nothing quite like waking up at the crack of dawn, fooling yourself that you're ready for the day... and 3 minutes later you're taking a shit so loud you wake up your mother. good times.

later this morning, Manchester United takes on Manchester Shitty. i really need United to win as i know the rest of my week will be shit if they lose. no pressure there.

The Red/Blue game yesterday at Dayton was pretty good. the women's team is young but love to shoot. the men's team looks like they will finally have some depth. of course, they would look even better if Dyshawn Pierre was playing with them.

the New York Rangers lost in a shootout last night in Philadelphia, 3-2. of course, the Rangers should have won by that score but the blind fucking refs said the Rangers third goal was goalie interference. they obviously believe Steve Mason is better than he really is. and since it was in Philadelphia, the usual cheap shots and stupid bullshit went uncalled as well. The King had 46 saves and certainly played good enough to get a win. oh well, the Rangers play again tonight against Calgary at home.

Ohio State finally looked like Ohio State again last night, destroying Rutgers 49-7. Rutgers didn't score until the final seconds of the game. and imagine that J.T. Barrett hasn't really found his groove yet either. they look like the scary team that won it all last year once again.

Austin City Limits was excellent last night. as soon as i heard the first chords to "Dirty Laundry" i knew i was going to like the episode. that's my favorite Don Henley song.

ROH was excellent last night as well. the main event was great once again.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Homeland and The Affair.

i will be watching Hell in a Cell on the WWE Network. i'm really hoping this ppv tonight is going to be good. it has everything to be good, but i don't trust WWE creative anymore. they could fuck up anything these days.

the New Orleans Saints play the Colts today. i have the Saints winning. not sure if that was my head or my heart picking that one. i guess we'll see later today.

the injury bug crept into my fantasy football teams without me looking. i will have to step away from the Manchester derby to check the inactives just to make sure i don't get caught with inactive players in my starting lineup. that's always fun.

i wanted to download some music just to see how it would work on this laptop i'm using. found something i wanted at NoiseTrade and amazingly, i figured out how to get the music where i wanted it and holy shit, maybe i will defeat technology yet one day. i'll put a link to the music down in the music section.

i wrote another poem last night. i really, REALLY like this one. i figure i may have a few others up my sleeves to write later tonight and will probably type them all up on Monday.

that's all for me today. i really hope today turns out to be a great one. if you see that the Manchester derby didn't go the way i wanted, you'll know it was just a shit day.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. hopefully so great that you don't remember some of it.

reaching for the lotion bottle in your sleep...

i truly enjoy how bizarre my life is at some times. in my shower last night, i knocked off the scab that has formed on my left leg. well, little did i know, i was still bleeding when i went to bed last night. so, i now know how much i toss and turn. plus, i couldn't fall asleep for shit last night. thankfully, the west coast feed of Cinemax had some eye candy on at 6 this morning. 5 minutes later, and i was ready for a good nap.

and i truly know any weekend is going to be great when i wake up to watch Manchester City lose to West Ham.

after i get done with this, i need to feed the animals out here and get that done before El Clasico. i should try to get to the post office as well as i might have a package there waiting for me.

after the soccer match, mom and i will be heading down to UD Arena for some basketball. hopefully there is some decent parking left as we'll be getting there a little late.

after that, we need to swing by the grocery store to get my drugs. i didn't realize i was low until this morning.

i had a very musical evening last night. i watched the documentary on Swedish House Mafia before i saw Sonic Highways on HBO. i knew of the bands they were talking about in the Washington, D.C. punk scene, just never knew the real history of it. so, that was a very good history lesson. plus, the song that the Foo Fighters came up with at the end was fucking great. that's two weeks in a row that i have really enjoyed the show. that makes it must see from now on.

Ohio State plays on the road tonight, at Penn State. that should be a very tough environment for the young Buckeyes, but hopefully i will be drinking a victory beer later tonight.

i do believe Saturday Night Live is new tonight. and i will hopefully still be awake to watch the new episode of ROH.

my sister got in late last night/this morning. amazingly, she was up after about 6 hours of sleep. usually when she comes here she'll sleep a good 9 hours before she decides to get up. i know she wants me to burn some music for her sometime today. so, i'm going to be interested to see where the fuck i squeeze that in.

i will be on here tomorrow morning as Manchester United plays Chelsea at noon. and with all my fantasy football shit to do in the morning so i don't miss the game, i'm going to be pressed for time. basically because i will be glued to the United game. hopefully they shock the world. more on that tomorrow.

i do hope your Friday night has become a good Saturday. have a good stiff drink and only fuck the ones that cough. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your time.

seeing the sun again

amazing what a little sunshine can do. i shouldn't be in a good mood today, yet amazingly i am. and with the sun out, some more work was able to get done on the barns. it's actually starting to look like a farm again.

the New York Rangers played pretty good last night, but good doesn't equal wins. a 2-1 loss that didn't surprise me much given the number of injuries the team has. more importantly, the injured are the 3 best players on the team. i'd hate to see where this team would be if Brad Richards didn't start off the season hot. one more game on the road trip from hell before the home opener.

The Big Bang Theory was pretty damn funny last night. i did get a good laugh from the song near the end of the episode.

i did watch plenty of that shitty NFL game last night. i'm down by 26 points in one fantasy league now. needless to say i wasn't very pleased.

i was happy to see the Red Sox lost.

i had a good laugh watching the 1 kitten that has survived rolling around in the sunshine today. mind you, it's still well below normal temperature wise. and it was on concrete. not sure if the cats like that we are having the place fixed up or not. they seem to enjoy the mess.

a big sports weekend coming up. it's that time of year again where i venture out into public for college basketball. that's where i'll be tomorrow afternoon for the University of Dayton's first exhibition game of the season. they usually draw around 10,000 or more fans for each game. given my hatred of people, that tends to get interesting. also, tomorrow Manchester United plays in the morning and Ohio State plays in the evening. hopefully, 3 victory beers.

that's all for today. hope everyone has a great weekend. i'll try to find a few minutes between games tomorrow to give some updates. and given that we only had 3 pieces of mail in the box today, i'm guessing tomorrow or Monday it will be full. hopefully, as i'm waiting on a few things.

be well, take it easy, and if it's easy, take it again.

another one of those Mondays

just spent the last hour of my life trying to get this blog to even load. i just fucking love Frontier Communications. i imagine if this service doesn't get any better soon, my main goal in life will be to bring that company to its knees.

a quick recap from yesterday...

the Yankees took the day off and didn't give a shit about what happened in the game. a 10-4 loss which gave the Twins their first series win in New York since i was in my mid 20's and still thought i could get pussy at any time i wanted. my, how times have changed. thankfully, there is no baseball for the next 4 days other than the All Star shit i couldn't care about if i tried. so, the Yankees are out of my mind and considering the first series back is in Boston, they may stay out of my mind for quite some time.

i watched bits and pieces of the NASCAR race. a decent day for my fantasy team.

Big Brother bored me as i pretty much knew what happened already. i just wanted to see if they were going to show more racial shit, which they did. i can't wait for when these fucks get outside of the house.

The Newsroom was superb last night. i am a language whore so i love shows that are verbose and fast. i give Sorkin credit, he's never let me down in that regard.

Ray Donovan was great as well. i laughed my ass off with the library scene. i imagine that will be me in my 60's or 70's. watching black women twerk on the screen as i tell some young punk next to me i'm an ass man.

judging from the reports i read from the Money in the Bank PPV last night, tonight's Monday Night Raw should be outstanding. i'm really interested to see how all the shockers from last night play out over the next few weeks. plus, RVD should be there. and with Heyman turning on CM Punk last night, all i can imagine is a verbal exchange for the ages. which also means that Brock Lesnar should be there for the angle to really explode. all in all, should be an interesting 3 hours. and the more interesting it is, the less tempted i will be to watch the Home Run Derby tonight.

i got invited to send poems to 2 magazines today. one i know has to be in by the end of this month. i guess i need to get my shit together here quickly. plus, i have a print zine i need to send to as well. thankfully, the weather sucks at the moment so i will gladly sit in the air conditioning and go through poems.

looks like we had some hungry deer visit the bird feeders last night. i sprayed the repellent today. what a god awful smell, especially when it's already 90 when you are spraying. thankfully there wasn't much wind.

hope the weather and the internet service is better in your neck of the woods...

music today:

Johnny Cash - American VI: Ain't No Grave
The Allman Brothers Band - The Allman Brothers Band
Walk The Moon - Walk The Moon
Elvis Costello - The Best Of Elvis Costello: The First Ten Years
Foster The People - Torches

a bowl of cereal and the blues

an unseasonably warm day and the sun never even shined. and to think by tomorrow night it will be nearly 50 degrees colder than right now. ah, Ohio. don't like the weather, wait 10 minutes.

so, much of my day was getting the house ready for the straight line winds that should be coming with the storm in the morning. when i see the reds and oranges on the weather forecast, that will usually do the trick to catch my attention. changed out the water filters and added some salt to the water softener. life with well water. so much fun. hopefully the power won't go out with the storm.

i enjoyed Monday Night Raw last night. the delusional CM Punk made me laugh out loud all night long. plus, the seeds being planted for a new Dangerous Alliance made me smile and remember my youth.

tonight is a bit of hockey and a bit of soccer. and hopefully 2 victory beers. and hopefully my good run of fantasy hockey results keep up as well.

if you don't hear or see much from me tomorrow either 1) the power went out or 2) i'm doing my best to keep my brain occupied before the basketball game or 3) i started my writing session early and i'm either on fire or putting words into a shredder.

music today:

Ben Harper - By My Side
Buddy Guy - Slippin' In
Buddy Guy - Living Proof
Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit - Live from Alabama

how could i ever forget

i remember 11 years ago today like it was yesterday. the phone constantly ringing and waking me up in the morning. i go downstairs and listen to the messages on the voice mail. i turn on NBC just as they are showing the second plane going into the tower again. i just kind of stood there for a second and said in my own mind, welcome to the next war. i don't think the TV was turned off for the next 2 weeks. I'm not sure if i slept either. so, yeah, i remember. kind of hard to forget when you watch people jump out of buildings. not an everyday occurrence, at least in my world that is. part of me would like to see every never forget bumper sticker or tweet be changed to quit making the same fucking mistakes. that might get a little more attention.

now, back to our regularly scheduled programming. after a day of relaxing, recovering from the music festival and enjoying schizophrenic TV for a bit, i feel much better. congrats to Andy Murray on his first grand slam. i was a bit scared he was going to blow a 2 set lead. you don't recover from those. was flipping back and forth from that, Monday Night Football, Monday Night Raw and The Voice. let's just say that listening to Jerry Lawler nearly die was a bit sobering. and when i saw the look on Michael Cole's face, i knew this was legit. always a little spooky when pro wrestling gets real.

as for football, none of my players did much of anything last night. i held on to win 2 of my 3 fantasy football games. plus, i picked 11 of the 16 games correct. I'll take that start. just a little tinkering today as i get ready for the fun tomorrow (waiver wire and making picks). i think 2 of my teams have legit chances to win it all. the third one will be a struggle all year long.

did some heavy leg work with my poetry today. figured out what poems were going to go where. always fun when you are sending to places you have never sent to before. i might as well pick with fucking darts. now the fun part. typing and submitting. with a shitty internet. fuck me.

i remember when Yankees vs. Red Sox meant something for both teams. hopefully, the Yankees beat the shit out of Boston the next 3 days and make life a little easier for themselves. I'm not holding my breath that they will take that path, but it would be much fucking easier for me.

i will pay most attention tonight to the USA national team's game vs. Jamaica. a must have 3 points tonight if they actually want to make the World Cup. after watching them play down there and lose, I'm a bit interested in seeing how much do they actually give a shit or not. it would help if they actually remembered how to defend. that's always a good start.

music today:

Father John Misty - Fear Fun
Youth Lagoon - The Year of Hibernation
Of Monsters And Men - My Head Is An Animal
Shrug - Whole Hog For The Macho Jesus
Guided By Voices - Sunfish Holy Breakfast
