i woke up this morning and it was 62 degrees outside. well shit, i turned off the air conditioning and opened some windows. lord knows, this will probably be the only day in July i will be able to do this.
the Yankees won yesterday at Toronto, 8-1. they are off tonight and start a series tomorrow at home against the Reds.
i did watch the Euro 2024 games yesterday. England won 2-1 in extra time over Slovakia. Spain won 4-1 over Georgia. today France is playing Belgium (currently 0-0) and Portugal plays Slovenia.
the Copa America games last night were good. Venezuela defeated Jamaica 3-0. Mexico and Ecuador played a 0-0 draw. that means Venezuela won the group and will take on Canada. Ecuador finished second and they will take on Argentina next. tonight, the USMNT takes on Uruguay and Panama plays Bolivia.
the season finale of The Chi was excellent last night.
Power Book II: Ghost was good last night. the mid-season finale is next week.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be Name That Tune and Monday Night Raw.
i need to go to the bank after i get this done.
a big thank you to everyone for checking out my latest published poems:
i had to take mom to get her blood work done today. it was raining and she just told me to go park and she will text me when she is done. that usually is a sign that she feels more confident in how she is feeling and can do shit on her own. as i was sitting in the parking lot, the rain changed over to sleet. holy fuck. this is why i hate the weather in Ohio. anything could happen at any fucking time it seems. snow to a heatwave in a few days...
here are your two videos for this day of National Poetry Month:
the New York Yankees won yesterday over the Twins, 2-0. Gerrit Cole pitched a complete game shutout. he definitely looks like he is on a mission this year.
the NBA playoffs were good yesterday.
i did watch El Trafico yesterday. it never disappoints.
Power Book II: Ghost was crazy again last night.
Succession was very good last night.
both episodes of Barry were great last night.
Last Week Tonight was BRILLIANT as usual.
Yellowjackets was crazy again last night.
Waco: The Aftermath brought back some memories last night.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be Monday Night Raw, The Voice, That's My Jam and Perry Mason.
i did listen to episode 443 of Notsam Wrestling today. you can hear that by going here:
the NHL playoffs start tonight. i'm sure i will watch some of the games. the Rangers series starts tomorrow night.
Manchester United won yesterday at Nottingham Forest, 2-0.
i hope everyone had a great weekend.
i should be on here tomorrow after i take mom to her physical therapy.
until tomorrow kids...

we got 3.5 inches of rain yesterday. no wonder i was in misery all of yesterday. hopefully, other than the cold, we don't get anything else today.
the Dayton Flyers lost last night at Saint Louis, 65-61.
the New York Knicks won last night at Miami, 122-120.
here are your NBA highlights from last night:
Smackdown and NXT Level Up were both really good last night.
AEW Rampage was really good last night. the countdown to revolution show afterwards was excellent as well.
the 12th victim was really good last night.
Real Time with Bill Maher was fucking hilarious last night.
Game Theory with Bomani Jones was excellent last night.

on the DVR tonight will be Saturday Night Live.
the New York Rangers play this afternoon at Boston.
i'm sure i will watch plenty of college basketball today as well as some MLS.
i need to go to Rite Aid today to get my prescriptions. i'll be there tomorrow afternoon with mom getting our shots. we're hoping a Sunday afternoon won't be that busy.
i'll be on here tomorrow after Manchester United plays at Liverpool and after we get back from Rite Aid.
i hope everyone has a great Saturday.

i thought it would be less crowded at the stores. of course, i guess everyone else had the same damn thought. thankfully, i did find everything that mom had on the list for the most part.
i did take a shower yesterday and i felt a little better. of course, i then checked my email and had 3 poems rejected. Corey at Red Eft Review said that one of the poems came really close... too bad this isn't fucking horseshoes... oh well.
here is your video for this day of National Poetry Month:
we had some really strong storms roll through here last night. i was amazed the power never went out and neither did the satellite.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be Will & Grace, Indebted, Vice News Tonight, Better Things, Cake, Total Bellas, Desus & Mero and two episodes of Shelter in Place w/Shane Smith. i did watch NXT UK this afternoon. it was a look back on the past 3 years of matches. i'm assuming they never got the chance to film a ton of matches ahead of time to have new material during this lockdown.
i watched this woman try to pull a scam today at the grocery store. it was painfully obvious that she didn't know how to do it correctly. she was walking around looking for her cart and told one of the bag boys that it was right here and then wanted to see a manager. well, the manager happened to be the cashier of the checkout lane i was in. she looked at the woman's receipt and said this isn't even a Kroger receipt. i knew right then and there what trick she was trying to pull. i'm not sure why you would try to pass a Family Dollar receipt as one from Kroger, or why you would ask to speak to a manager when all you were trying to do was get some free food.
as i will say a million times, this is why i will probably never move from this state. the poems just write themselves.
i went to bed around 2 last night. i felt fucking refreshed when i woke up. i looked at the clock and it said 4:10. fuck me. i'm not sure why i even bother anymore.
i believe my sister is coming down on Easter Sunday. i got a nice ham for that dinner. she's happy since she thinks she will be taking some home with her.
i have no damn clue when i will be on here tomorrow. i'd love to say i'm going to sleep in and lounge around, etc. etc. but anyone who knows me knows that's not going to fucking happen.
until tomorrow kids...

it snowed all night here. a very light, wet snow. probably no more than 2 inches so far. when i went out to feed the cats this morning, i did manage to take some pictures. here are a couple of my favorites:
the rest of the pictures can be seen in the slideshow on the right hand side of this blog. they also have been posted on Google+.
i now know i will not be going to the Dayton Flyers game this evening. mom's check engine light came on last night. this was just a few hours after she got it back from the mechanic. i've got a funny feeling that we're going to have to replace 2 vehicles here soon. good times.
so, the rest of my day will be watching sports, and probably doing some shit i would normally do on Sunday morning today (trash, dishes, etc.). i know Saturday Night Live is new tonight. and there should be another good episode of ROH as well.
i will probably be back on here sometime before Manchester United plays tomorrow morning.considering it is a fantasy football playoffs Sunday, i'm sure my anxiety will have me awake around 6 in the morning.
hope you enjoy the pictures. be well, stay warm, drink one for me.
music:

i woke up this morning and my mother was feeling much, much better. was sounding better, moving around better and felt good enough that i didn't need to play chauffeur today. she had another doctor's appointment this morning. at least she found out her shoulder isn't torn like she feared.
i had a huge smile when i checked my fantasy football scores this morning. huge leads in both matches thanks to the game last night.
i of course didn't watch much of the game as i was busy with the Sunday night shows. Boardwalk Empire was excellent once again. Eastbound and Down was good. Homeland was brilliant. and i thought Masters of Sex was really good. time well spent.
one busy night of television awaits me this evening. the New York Rangers play against Anaheim. Cally is back in the lineup tonight. sooner than expected i do believe. The Voice starts up the live shows tonight. Monday Night Raw should be interesting. and a juicy Monday Night Football game that has some fantasy implications between Green Bay and Chicago. all of these things are on at the same time more or less. i'm guessing hockey and wrestling are going to win out for me. the rest i can catch on YouTube.
i believe my truck is on its final legs. i had to put air in one of the rear tires for the third time this month. it's running really bad and my mother doesn't want me taking it off the farm. so, looks like i more or less am a homebody for the time being. i'm hoping to find something new or something a little newer than the 21 years old my truck is, with not so many numbers to the left of the comma. and hopefully find it before winter.
i'm typing this as i listen to my mother on hold with an insurance company. needless to say, she's not a happy camper.
i am now in first place in fantasy hockey after a 9-1 week for me. hopefully i can keep that momentum going.
the rest of today has been spent putting more shit on my amazon.com wish list. in case any of you are interested or extremely generous, you can find it under my email address, jcampb4593@aol.com.
that's all for me today. i will be on tomorrow after Manchester United plays tomorrow in Spain. i will hopefully be having a victory beer while typing that one up.
be well. have a drink on me. and brace yourself for a mountain of words coming soon.

for some reason i was up until 4 this morning. i would think nothing of it, but for some damn reason i was back up at 7. this should be an interesting day to see how long i last on 3 hours of sleep.
while i was up late listening to podcasts, i did go through the unpublished poems. i found 11 that i passed on to the artist in Sweden. i'm very interested to see if he comes up with anything for them. they might have a life after all.
the Yankees got some decent pitching from CC last night. but decent doesn't cut it in the dog days of a baseball season. another loss 4-2. hopefully they can salvage a game in this series later today.
ROH was good last night. sadly, i know the outcome of most of the heavyweight title tournament already, but i still will try to enjoy the matches. i'm sure i will, just to see how they got to the end.
this evening will be interesting. i'm debating if i am still "cool" enough to watch the MTV Video Music Awards or not. if i do watch them, it's going to be bits and pieces. i figure my television viewing will look like this; Big Brother, MTV, The Newsroom, Ray Donovan, Total Divas, and then if i'm still coherent, the rebroadcast of the VMA's. if i do all of that, you can rest assured i will be napping this afternoon at some point.
still only saw 5 cats this morning when i fed them. but, it wasn't the same 5 from yesterday, so i'm thinking they are all still here, just scattered about because of the heat and whatnot.
got the trash out and the paper wasn't stolen this morning. so, i guess things are looking up.
i'll pass along word if the artist in Sweden comes up with any magic from my trash.
also, i'm not really pissed with my fantasy football draft results. not nearly as bad as i feared. i've got some guys i've won with before and, as long as my 2 QB's don't have the dreaded sophomore jinx, i should do pretty good this year. of course, injuries and my ability to capitalize on the mistakes of others will truly decide if i win a 3rd straight championship or not.
hope everyone has a great day.

we actually have got some rain today. no violent winds (yet) and no torrential downpours (yet)... so, all in all, not as much rain as i would have liked but we definitely needed what we got.
my back has been in misery for most of today. i did take a good, long hot shower that seemed to do the trick a little. that all came before a phone call from the muse. after listening to a story of a drunken make out with an older man, she decided it was a good time to show me (without knowing it) what a one sided friendship actually looks like. one of the better hang ups i have had in quite some time. not sure what is next, and i'm not sure i really care at the moment. i've had so many "friends" let me down in the last few years that i really don't see the point anymore.
i did watch a good portion of the Brazil vs. Uruguay match today in the Confederations Cup. Brazil won 2-1. that was a must win by them. i really hope Spain wins tomorrow as that should set up one great finale.
the Yankees last night had their first walk off of the season, 4-3. Ichiro hit the 4th solo home run by the team. of course, that great win was overshadowed by A-Rod and Cashman getting into it over rehab and whatnot. and then of course the news comes down today that Tex needs season ending wrist surgery. smoke and mirrors are just about the only way this team will make the playoffs this year.
i guess i know one tight end i will be avoiding in the upcoming NFL fantasy drafts. talk about pissing away some talent.
check out episode 60 of the Sam Roberts Show Online. you can find it on iTunes, Stitcher, and by going to notsam.com. well worth a listen and do help him out if you can.
Deadliest Catch last night was great, as usual. i really enjoyed the pregame show as well. i really wished Freddie would have whipped that greenhorn's ass last night.
tonight, weather permitting, will be a little of the Yankees, a little Big Brother, perhaps some local news and then Big Brother After Dark. which, for some fucking reason is on the TV Guide network, which i believe i have never watched in my life. i'll have to see if i even have it on DIRECTV. if i do, there will be my new destination at midnight until this cast just bores me to death. i'm hoping that doesn't happen.
quick critter update: the groundhog has returned and somehow, another suet feeder has gone missing. if i had the money i would get some night vision cameras and actually figure out what the fuck is happening. on the bright side, the less feeders we have, the more money we can save by not buying as much food for the animals.
congrats to all my gay friends. now, go out and get married and become miserable like most of my married friends.

Youth Lagoon - Hibernation
Beach House - Bloom

mowing the grass yesterday was brutal. the grass was way too high in places. the weather was much warmer than they said it would be. and 5 hours of baking in the sun didn't sit too well with me. luckily, expired sunscreen still works just as good so i'm not burnt. just the aches and pains of too much sun when you're fair-skinned and rarely outdoors.
after mowing and a long shower, i sat down to watch the Yankees play. i knew they were in for a long one going against King Felix. but, thankfully, Felix only went 6 and the Yankees came to life. always nice to trail 3-0 and end up winning 4-3. the hammer of god with yet another save. if anyone doubts that Mariano Rivera is one of the greatest pitchers ever, please stop watching baseball.
i did watch most of The Voice last night. thankfully, NBC showed the performances from the previous night in the first hour which really helped me make up my mind on who should be eliminated. needless to say my 2 choices weren't the 2 now gone. i did have 1 right. how Usher's male model is still in the competition is beyond me. i figure this season will come down to if America is in the mood for country (team Blake) or a little of everything (team Adam). Sasha (team Shakira) is probably the only "outsider" that has a chance. hopefully her coach picks the right songs or Sasha picks them for herself.
i was trying to watch Deadliest Catch last night but fell asleep halfway through. when i woke up 10 minutes later i gave up and just went to bed. i think i was out before midnight. and i know i was really tired when i woke up this morning and had no clue that the phone rang at 1:30 in the morning. lord knows i needed the sleep though. i haven't had 6 hours in forever it seems.
i think i'm scrapping my bookstore plans for Sofisticated White Trash. if the book would have been self-published i would have had a much better chance of getting it in some places. looks like the distribution companies have pretty much got the bookstores on lock down for the small guys. so, i'll simply direct as much traffic as i can toInterior Noise Pressand hope that some good reviews and word of mouth propel the book down the road.
i figure i will bounce between some sports tonight and probably either some music or some animal shows or some lesser known documentary found while flipping through the channels avoiding commercials. hell, maybe i'll be falling asleep again early. i'm surely getting old now.
music today:
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Push The Sky Away
Youth Lagoon - Wondrous Bughouse
"If you want to make someone feel emotion, you have to make them let go. Listening to something is an act of surrender." - Brian Eno
i've been running on empty for most of today. 4 basketball games in 2 days can do that to you. of course, i have 4 games to go to tomorrow. i think my Saturday may be either a coma or one powered by alcohol.
did manage to sell off some music today. got $15. that's the most cash i've had on me in 3 months. certainly enough to cover the poems i need to mail out. i'm hoping to get that all done before having to get down to UD Arena for the afternoon session of basketball. which means plenty of the little shit to do tonight. cover letters, bios, etc. etc. i guess i can get that done between basketball, hockey and the dishes this evening.
as for the 2 games last night. neither were that close. both had much better flows than Tuesday's games. made the evening go much quicker. actually got out of the arena before midnight. not sure if that's going to happen or not on Friday.
another must win for the New York Rangers tonight. with the way Florida is playing right now, hopefully the boys put the foot on the neck early.
my brackets are ok of right now. (fingers crossed)
my order from Amazon.com arrived early. so, you'll be seeing a few new music (at least new for me) selections popping up.
had a very nice lunch with my mother today while watching some tourney games. helps that i was drinking. and not having to pay.
i'm interested to see how i survive tomorrow. i'll be sitting in a section of the arena that i haven't sat in in over a decade. should be interesting. i'm really hoping the games are good enough to trick my mind into not giving a shit that i'm around nearly 13,000 strangers and i really don't like people for the most part.
at the very least, i'm hoping for a few poems to pop up out of nowhere.
hope this finds everyone well. until i grace you with my presence again.
music today:
Guided By Voices - Down By The Racetrack
Youth Lagoon - Wondrous Bughouse
Japandroids - Celebration Rock
"Middle age is when you're sitting at home on a Saturday night and the telephone rings and you hope it isn't for you." - Ogden Nash
i remember 11 years ago today like it was yesterday. the phone constantly ringing and waking me up in the morning. i go downstairs and listen to the messages on the voice mail. i turn on NBC just as they are showing the second plane going into the tower again. i just kind of stood there for a second and said in my own mind, welcome to the next war. i don't think the TV was turned off for the next 2 weeks. I'm not sure if i slept either. so, yeah, i remember. kind of hard to forget when you watch people jump out of buildings. not an everyday occurrence, at least in my world that is. part of me would like to see every never forget bumper sticker or tweet be changed to quit making the same fucking mistakes. that might get a little more attention.
now, back to our regularly scheduled programming. after a day of relaxing, recovering from the music festival and enjoying schizophrenic TV for a bit, i feel much better. congrats to Andy Murray on his first grand slam. i was a bit scared he was going to blow a 2 set lead. you don't recover from those. was flipping back and forth from that, Monday Night Football, Monday Night Raw and The Voice. let's just say that listening to Jerry Lawler nearly die was a bit sobering. and when i saw the look on Michael Cole's face, i knew this was legit. always a little spooky when pro wrestling gets real.
as for football, none of my players did much of anything last night. i held on to win 2 of my 3 fantasy football games. plus, i picked 11 of the 16 games correct. I'll take that start. just a little tinkering today as i get ready for the fun tomorrow (waiver wire and making picks). i think 2 of my teams have legit chances to win it all. the third one will be a struggle all year long.
did some heavy leg work with my poetry today. figured out what poems were going to go where. always fun when you are sending to places you have never sent to before. i might as well pick with fucking darts. now the fun part. typing and submitting. with a shitty internet. fuck me.
i remember when Yankees vs. Red Sox meant something for both teams. hopefully, the Yankees beat the shit out of Boston the next 3 days and make life a little easier for themselves. I'm not holding my breath that they will take that path, but it would be much fucking easier for me.
i will pay most attention tonight to the USA national team's game vs. Jamaica. a must have 3 points tonight if they actually want to make the World Cup. after watching them play down there and lose, I'm a bit interested in seeing how much do they actually give a shit or not. it would help if they actually remembered how to defend. that's always a good start.
music today:
Father John Misty - Fear Fun
Youth Lagoon - The Year of Hibernation
Of Monsters And Men - My Head Is An Animal
Shrug - Whole Hog For The Macho Jesus
Guided By Voices - Sunfish Holy Breakfast
"The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls." - Pablo Picasso
opened up the windows this morning and decided to give the a/c a rest. not often you get a day in the 70's at this time of year here. might as well take advantage of it.
i found out late last night that my rough copy of my book did make it back to Austin, Texas. a thank you to the postal service. hopefully soon that monster is on the streets.
also on the poetry tip, sent 3 poems out today to Five 2 One Magazine. hopefully my good feeling on this one is correct.
watched the gold medal match in men's Olympic soccer this morning. classic lazy Brazil. take their talent for granted, get scored on in the first 30 seconds. then give up another in the second half. of course, here comes the urgency they didn't play with for the first 80 minutes. they get 1 back and blow a header with 20 seconds to go. (the player that did that has signed with Chelsea i type with a glee on my face). Mexico wins 2-1. great game from them. this is the classic generation for Mexico. get used to seeing them play important matches for the next decade.
Yankees play this afternoon. i will divide my time between that and more of the Olympics. i might catch a few friendlies as well later on today. but the start of my weekend has been pretty good so far (knock on wood).
music today:
Trampled By Turtles - Stars And Satellites
The Head And The Heart - The Head And The Heart
Youth Lagoon - The Year Of Hibernation
"Education is a progressive discovery of our own ignorance." - Will Durant
i'm doing my best to try to avoid sports today. trying to give my brain some time off. the Yankees are going to the west coast. so tomorrow starts insomniac baseball. the Rangers are thankfully off today. i might peek a view at the heat and pacers tonight. the beauty of the NBA though, is you only need to watch the last 5 minutes of a game. the rest of the time is entertainment, not basketball. plus, it's always good to see what LeBron will be hated for now.
so w/o sports i decided to mind fuck myself with music today. below are my selections:
Beth Hart & Joe Bonamassa - Don't Explain
Shrug - Whole Hog for the Macho Jesus
Loretta Lynn - Van Lear Rose
Beck - Sea Change
Shooter Jennings - Family Man
Youth Lagoon - The Year of Hibernation
just odd enough all together that it makes sense.
on a farm note, always interesting when you're feeding the cats and birds and you find skunk shit near the cat food. i think we have 6 new kittens, all born in the last 3 weeks. so someone was busy fucking in the winter. i don't give them much of a chance though. the coyotes seem to be growing in numbers. always fun to sit by the bay window and enjoy this zoo.
lastly, my favorite quote from William S. Burroughs,
