Brett Gardner led off the Yankees game last night the same way he ended the game the night before, with a home run. the Yankees are undefeated this season in games that he hits a homer in. that streak continued last night against Tampa. the Yankees also got home runs from Judge and a fucking bomb from Clint Frazier. but the story of the night was the pitching from Masahiro Tanaka. he struck out 14 last night, to set a new career high. plus, he retired the first 17 batters of the game. all of that added up to New York winning 6-1. toss in Boston losing last night and now the Yankees are back in first place in the division. hopefully the good times will continue this afternoon.
NJPW was a rerun last night. i'm not quite sure why the DVR recorded it.
VICE was very good last night. i'm still amazed at the number of people who want to rape this earth until there is nothing left.
Room 104 last night was very interesting. the show was very dark. i can see why some people didn't like it as the humor was very dark as well. thank god i'm an asshole and enjoy that shit.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be ROH.
amazingly, it's not supposed to rain this weekend. it might even be fucking pleasant. at least as pleasant as the weather can be for late July. i'll probably get out and fill the bird feeders at some point this weekend. if i get a wild hair up my ass, i might even do a little photography.
other than the little shopping trip with mom later this morning, i think this weekend is just going to be relaxing and catching up on sleep. that pretty much means i'll do nothing but write, watch sports and laugh at Big Brother After Dark.
i will probably be on here tomorrow before Manchester United plays in Norway.
i hope everyone has a great Saturday, even those of you on the other side of my political views.
be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.
peace and chicken grease...
music:
Arcade Fire - Everything Now
Laura Marling - Wild Fire
Little Dragon - High
The War on Drugs - Thinking of a Place
"The history of saints is mainly the history of insane people." - Benito Mussolini
and your whatever the fuck i wanted you to see video of the day:
when i was in pain around 4 this morning, i didn't bother to get up. i knew it had to be raining. that rain lasted the entire morning. it looks like yesterday could be the last dry day for another week or so. fuck me.
the people that take care of my uncle's grass cut both our yards yesterday. not a big deal, except the grass was cut 2 days before that. i have never lived in a community where fuckers treat their lawns like they are made of gold. any fucking time the rain has stopped, some fucker on this street has his mower out. if i truly was as nuts as people think i am, a shooting spree wouldn't be too far from reality given how much the sound of a lawnmower drives me nuts. i blame that one on my father. he had me on a riding lawnmower when i was 8. i was barely strong enough to turn the wheel, but did that matter? so, like any asshole to be would do, i crashed the fucker into a tree. didn't do much damage, but i was punished by standing in the corner for 3 hours. if anyone ever wonders why i constantly talk to myself, it's because i spent most of my childhood doing it. good times.
i'm keeping an eye on the water in our backyard. considering that's where the phone lines and electric are, i'm just waiting for a OH SHIT moment to occur.
a quick music break before i get to last night on television:
the New York Yankees lost yesterday 3-1 to split the series with Houston. hard to win any game when you only have 2 fucking hits. they start a series with the Angels tonight. west coast baseball. that means i will be one tired fucker for the next few days.
i did get a little nap in yesterday while flipping between NASCAR and golf.
Big Brother was pretty good last night. sadly, i follow most of the shit online, so the tv show is about a week behind what is actually going on in the house. True Detective last night was great. that had a truly HOLY SHIT ending. Ballers was good. The Brink was pretty funny. the series finale of Nurse Jackie was good. i thought the ending could have been better. i thought death would have been the right way to go out. but, it was nice to see some characters from past seasons in the finale. the season finale of Happyish had me laughing. i doubt i will get Skidmark Jesus out of my head anytime soon. Penny Dreadful was excellent last night. it certainly has set things up for a bloody finale next Sunday. finally, Last Week Tonight was great once again:
i haven't bothered to even check for the mail today. i was hoping it would start to dry up. but, apparently i'll go out in the drizzle. my luck, it will all be shit that i won't want to get wet.
i'll be flipping between Monday Night Raw, the Yankees game and Big Brother After Dark tonight on television.
just a few days before the silly season starts in the NHL and NBA.
i hope everyone had a great weekend. and i certainly hope your Monday hasn't been as fucking dreary as mine.
be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

music:
The Allman Brothers Band - It's Not My Cross To Bear
Ryan Bingham - Guess Who's Knockin'
Jason Isbell - 24 Frames
The Band - I Shall Be Released
L.A. Guns - The Ballad of Jayne
"When you're in love it's the most glorious two and a half days of your life." - Richard Lewis
we're under a flood warning or a watch or an end of the world type shit event going on now as it is fucking pouring rain. my mother felt good enough to go into work today by herself and is going to go to the grocery store afterwards. to say i'm a bit nervous would be an understatement. but, hopefully i'll be putting away groceries right after i finish this blog today.
i decided to clean the toilets and take out the trash today. i told my mother i would at least make an effort when we moved and i would like to think that is what i'm doing.
the New York Yankees lost 4-0 last night in Houston. i only watched the 9th inning, when they brought the tying run to the plate. at least they gave themselves a chance. hopefully they will get back to winning tonight.
i mostly watched the NBA Draft last night. it went sort of like i expected. i was really disappointed that Jordan Sibert didn't get drafted. Dayton hasn't had anyone drafted since 1990. god willing, that will change soon. Sacramento drafted Willie Cauley-Stein. if they keep DeMarcus Cousins, i love the pick. two Kentucky guys controlling the front court. now, just get a decent point guard and the team can start the climb back to being relevant.
Big Brother was interesting last night. the first twist to annoy the shit out of me is 2 people from the show The Amazing Race are now playing Big Brother. something like this will happen each week of the game. i did catch some of Big Brother After Dark last night as well. hopefully in a few weeks the alcohol starts flowing as there definitely seems to be some freaky people in the house this year.
the season finale of The Comedians was hilarious. i'm not sure if it will be back for another season, but hopefully it will be.
here's some funny shit from last night:
today is really all about the NHL Draft. the New York Rangers are trying to get back in the first round. they have been offered a first round pick for Cam Talbot, but they would have to take a bad contract back for that pick. this is a deep enough draft that if i was the Rangers, i'd bite the fucking bullet and do it. so, as you might imagine, i'll be glued to that tonight.
also tonight, team USA plays China in the Women's World Cup. i'm sure i'll catch plenty of that during the draft.
on the DVR tonight, weather permitting, will be NJPW and Vice.
i guess my sister is coming down tomorrow. we're planning on going out to lunch, so it looks like i may be taking a shower tonight.
my sister's friend came by the house this morning to get her furniture that was here. that cleans out even more from the garage. and thankfully they got here long before the rains came.
here's a little music to take you into the weekend:
i hope everyone has a lovely weekend. hopefully the rain stops here before i have to start building an arc.
be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.
peace and chicken grease...
music:
Phil Collins - In The Air Tonight
Butthole Surfers - Pepper
Shinedown - Sound of Madness
Wussy - Beautiful
Jimi Hendrix - Born Under a Bad Sign
"I love it when people doubt me. It makes me work harder to prove them wrong." - Derek Jeter
so i got up this morning, checked my email (internet is still slower than shit), fed the animals and sprayed for insects inside and out of the house. got all that done in time to watch Manchester United play.
and then i sit down in my favorite chair and watch them lose 1-0 to a bunch of guys i have never heard of that all play in Thailand. not sure how i should take the first game of the David Moyes era. it was only a pre-season game, it was hot, not the whole team... or THEY LOST TO A BUNCH OF FUCKING NO NAMES IN THAILAND... i hate losing at any time. i will tuck this one away with a grain of salt. a good number of big names weren't there. but, there was easily enough talent to win the game. on the plus side, barely, the 2 kids looked pretty good. i'd like to see them get more of a shot in the coming games.
i'll be watching the Yankees play here in a bit. they won a rain soaked affair last night 2-0. Jeter didn't play as it was revealed he has a grade 1 quad strain. he's out until after the all star break. it never fails with this team.
and hopefully i will see a much better soccer game played when team USA plays Cuba this afternoon in the Gold Cup. it's on the FOX national network, so i'm guessing Gus Johnson will be calling it. it should be entertaining.
saw a great interview last night with Stone Cold Steve Austin. it was on AXS TV. i highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
after all my sports today i get the feeling i will be helping my mother clean the house a bit. oh joy.
also, if the weather doesn't turn too shitty this weekend, i will hopefully take some pictures of a few things i saw while mowing the grass yesterday.
other than a little ROH this evening and maybe some Big Brother After Dark, i will be either catching up on sleep or writing until i'm bleary eyed.
until tomorrow...
music today:
Massive Attack - Mezzanine
Don Henley - Actual Miles: Henley's Greatest Hits
Beastie Boys - The Mix-Up
"Am I grumpy? I might be. But I think maybe sometimes it's misinterpreted." - Harrison Ford
today was/is one of those days where my mind is in one of those really weird spaces. the daughter of the woman that molested me is getting married today. at the surface it's really no big deal to me. peel back the onion and then you enter the absolute mind fuck zone. i was hoping to avoid it, but i knew damn well, there is a prick asshole writer inside of me that loves this shit. so yeah, i wrote 4 poems today. and honestly, i think they are all really good. i got a feeling i might have a big submission or two going out in early July.
the Yankees managed to lose a 3-0 lead last night to lose 4-3. i of course didn't see any of the bad stuff as my sister had taken over the television and i didn't feel like taking my lazy fat ass to the other room or upstairs to watch the game. maybe if they were better this year... so i watched Dateline i think, or something like that. i was doing a word search so i wouldn't pick an argument. thankfully, the Yankees are blacked out for me tonight.
in my futile attempt to avoid my mind today, i watched a little tennis. i even rolled coins. to put it bluntly, nothing fucking worked.
i need to get in a nice long shower before the next round of storms hit.
not exactly sure what i'll be watching tonight other than ROH and Big Brother After Dark. i'm not exactly thrilled with the plan the powers that be in the house have for the first elimination. i can see the logic but sadly, i don't think these people have truly watched the show. you leave someone in the house after you had the chance to get rid of them and it will always come back to haunt you. and when that someone is production's little darling, i do hope they are ready to be fucked for the next few months.
a big thank you to Frontier Communications for the whole 5 days or so the internet actually worked decently. lets just say today it's back to being a big old piece of shit.
i may have some good news to share about my book, Sofisticated White Trash, in the coming days. fingers are crossed as it may involve a little exposure overseas.
if you happen to follow this blog via email, please shoot me an email and let me know. i want to see if i can do a little something for the hell i put you people through. besides, this rag has been around for more than a year now. much longer than i thought it would last.
a big sports day tomorrow with the Confederations Cup coming to an end and the NHL Draft. not sure when i will do a post. i want to give the new Showtime show Ray Donovan a chance. so i'm guessing it could be a late night rambler. besides, i do believe the Yankees are on Sunday Night Baseball as well. no sleep for the wicked...
that's all for today... peace and chicken grease.
music today:
Pearl Jam - 5/9/10 Cleveland, Ohio
Black Sabbath - 13
Prodigy - The Fat Of The Land
"Guilt: the gift that keeps on giving." - Erma Bombeck
i watched Big Brother 15 last night. hard to believe i've been watching this shit since season 8. here's a few thoughts on it, i actually did not hate this cast as much as i thought i would. they seem pretty funny and cool so far. so, i'm a little more hopeful than normal they won't bore me to death this summer. the 3 people nominated twist is going to make the season a little more eventful, especially if the person nominating the third nominee really does stay anonymous. as for Big Brother After Dark, i really can't stand the fact that it is censored. it's 2013. who the fuck wants to watch a show that starts at midnight that is censored. the one saving grace is the show is commercial free. that tends to make the 2 hours fly by a little faster. if my past history is any indication, i will hate this show in a few weeks but keep watching.
i got an email from the muse last night that more or less indicated that she was not interested in a friendship that didn't revolve around her completely. so, that's that. it really sucks, as she was a good egg. i'll give her credit though, only woman to ever break my heart twice. i'll be interested to see if she pays me back the $100 she owes me. i've lived long enough to know not to expect to ever see it, but stranger things have happened. on the positive though, my afternoons look pretty free now.
i'd like to issue a preemptive apology to all the editors and publishers for the drivel i'll most likely be writing for the next few weeks. and i know some mother fucker just muttered under their breath, as opposed to all the other drivel you have written over the years.
the Yankees made way too many mistakes to win last night. first time they lost when scoring 5 or more runs. they lost 8-5. they play the last game of the home stand here in a little bit. i'd love to see them win today as i really need a victory beer.
from the baseball today i will go right into Confederations Cup soccer, which should lead into the NBA draft and right into Wilfred this evening on FX.
i had a moment of unintentional comedy yesterday. i put out this welcome sign my mother has. but, i put it out so you can only read it as you are leaving. i never noticed that until she said something. i played it off like i intended it that way. i'll have to take a picture sometime over the weekend.
i also need to take a picture of the bird nest right above one of the outside lights. maybe get lucky enough to catch a bird in it as well. and hopefully without stepping in or getting shit on.
for any of you Radiohead fans, i highly suggest going over to noisetrade.com to download a live performance presented by Paste.com. it's from 1995 and is amazing.
my fingers are crossed that i'll get a phone call tomorrow saying my truck is fixed. my gut tells me it's not likely, but my gut also has shit for brains.
until tomorrow...
music today:
Social Distortion - Live at The Roxy
Radiohead - Live at Tramps (June 1, 1995)
"A man who has never made a woman angry is a failure in life." - Christopher Morley
we actually have got some rain today. no violent winds (yet) and no torrential downpours (yet)... so, all in all, not as much rain as i would have liked but we definitely needed what we got.
my back has been in misery for most of today. i did take a good, long hot shower that seemed to do the trick a little. that all came before a phone call from the muse. after listening to a story of a drunken make out with an older man, she decided it was a good time to show me (without knowing it) what a one sided friendship actually looks like. one of the better hang ups i have had in quite some time. not sure what is next, and i'm not sure i really care at the moment. i've had so many "friends" let me down in the last few years that i really don't see the point anymore.
i did watch a good portion of the Brazil vs. Uruguay match today in the Confederations Cup. Brazil won 2-1. that was a must win by them. i really hope Spain wins tomorrow as that should set up one great finale.
the Yankees last night had their first walk off of the season, 4-3. Ichiro hit the 4th solo home run by the team. of course, that great win was overshadowed by A-Rod and Cashman getting into it over rehab and whatnot. and then of course the news comes down today that Tex needs season ending wrist surgery. smoke and mirrors are just about the only way this team will make the playoffs this year.
i guess i know one tight end i will be avoiding in the upcoming NFL fantasy drafts. talk about pissing away some talent.
check out episode 60 of the Sam Roberts Show Online. you can find it on iTunes, Stitcher, and by going to notsam.com. well worth a listen and do help him out if you can.
Deadliest Catch last night was great, as usual. i really enjoyed the pregame show as well. i really wished Freddie would have whipped that greenhorn's ass last night.
tonight, weather permitting, will be a little of the Yankees, a little Big Brother, perhaps some local news and then Big Brother After Dark. which, for some fucking reason is on the TV Guide network, which i believe i have never watched in my life. i'll have to see if i even have it on DIRECTV. if i do, there will be my new destination at midnight until this cast just bores me to death. i'm hoping that doesn't happen.
quick critter update: the groundhog has returned and somehow, another suet feeder has gone missing. if i had the money i would get some night vision cameras and actually figure out what the fuck is happening. on the bright side, the less feeders we have, the more money we can save by not buying as much food for the animals.
congrats to all my gay friends. now, go out and get married and become miserable like most of my married friends.
music today:
Placebo - Without You I'm Nothing
Youth Lagoon - Hibernation
Beach House - Bloom
happy birthday to The Captain
"If you're going to play at all, you're out to win. Baseball, board games, playing Jeopardy, I hate to lose." - Derek Jeter
watched team USA (basketball) sleep through a first quarter where they couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. and, as always with basketball, play better defense and offense becomes easy. sure enough. a nice wake up call and then a blowout of France.
as that was going on i was watching Neymar put on a show at the Theater of Dreams. while watching that, it was hard not to think of him one day wearing a Manchester United kit on that field. and with the back heel for the third goal, i really hope those dreams come true one day.
speaking of Man U, Giggs and Cleverley look to be in pretty good shape. nice win for GB.
a night of schizophrenic television awaits for me. Red Sox vs. Yankees, Big Brother, The Newsroom, Weeds, Episodes, Big Brother After Dark. thankfully i already know the results of the events (swimming, gymnastics, etc.) going to be shown this evening. i don't care for tape delay in a world where i can find out what happened in seconds.
speaking of Big Brother last night, finally an episode on Showtime where i could laugh my ass off. PLEASE, keep giving them tons of alcohol.
music today:
Melissa Etheridge - Greatest Hits: The Road Less Traveled
Florence & the Machine - Lungs
"Forgive your enemies, but never forget their names." - John F. Kennedy
hopefully the factory put the right poems in the right places. time will tell.
as for tonight, some mindless television. tonight marks the return of Big Brother, one of the few guilty pleasures i allow myself. and after that will be two of the best shows on tv, Wilfred and Louie. some local news, Letterman, Fallon and then Big Brother After Dark on Showtime 2. hopefully this cast doesn't suck. from what i've seen so far, it could be an interesting season. of course, if it sucks, more sleep for me.
music today:
Beck - Guero
AC/DC - The Razors Edge
Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
KISS - Destroyer
Pixies - Bossanova
Beastie Boys - Hot Sauce Committee Part Two
