thanksgiving

here is how i have started this day for the last 15 years or so

my back locked up this morning and i got the shits from dinner last night/breakfast this morning. just the way i always want to spend a damn holiday. sadly, i figured my day would start this way after yesterday went so damn close to perfect. it was scary.

Manchester United showed that i had absolutely nothing to be worried about after they won 5-0 yesterday. a completely dominating win for all 90 minutes. i just wish they would play that way in the Premier League.

the New York Rangers responded nicely from their turd in Tampa with a 5-2 win at Florida. highlights are below:

the best part of last night was the Dayton Flyers. after the heartbreaking loss the night before, they responded as only i could have dreamed they would have. a dominating complete win over California, 82-64. the best part was the bench played out of their minds last night. and what i truly love about this team is the youth. they are all hungry and have attitudes in the good way. they want the world and they want it now. and i absolutely love freshmen who WANT to play defense. third place in the tourney and a well deserved few days off. hopefully they take this momentum and run with it.

not sure if i will do my laundry today as i'm not sure my back will allow that to happen. but, i do plan on getting my online Christmas shopping done while watching some football.

had a few unforeseen injuries in fantasy hockey last night that i truly didn't care for. always hate when i have to tinker with a team mid week. never fun.

well, for my other Thanksgiving tradition, here is the song that plays after the prayer:

a few things i am thankful for:

my mother and sister
that anyone actually reads this blog
for the wonderful people that publish my poetry
for the few friends that i actually have
and most of all...
that i finally learned to accept the pain

hope everyone has a great holiday. i will return tomorrow with adventures from the bank most likely.

trying to stay out of my own mind

did a bit of editing this morning and tried to take advantage of the weather getting a bit warmer. i cleared off most of the sidewalks and got most of the ice to melt. hopefully there will be no refreeze by tomorrow morning.

but, most of the day i've been trying to stay out of my own mind. got a few really fucking deep things going on up there (family medical shit) and having never been blessed with a positive mental attitude, it's for the best that i just try to keep out.

but when the music and porn and sports and books don't do the trick, where do i turn? i wish i had some brilliant answer to share here, but i don't.

the New York Rangers play the Devils for the first time since that moment of pure hell known as last year's playoffs. hopefully i will have something to cheer about tonight.

music today:

Gary Clark Jr. - Blak and Blu
TLC - CrazySexyCool
Dave Matthews Band - Crash
William S. Burroughs - Spare Ass Annie

blah blah sports and music for the day, etc.

i'm doing my best to try to avoid sports today. trying to give my brain some time off. the Yankees are going to the west coast. so tomorrow starts insomniac baseball. the Rangers are thankfully off today. i might peek a view at the heat and pacers tonight. the beauty of the NBA though, is you only need to watch the last 5 minutes of a game. the rest of the time is entertainment, not basketball. plus, it's always good to see what LeBron will be hated for now.

so w/o sports i decided to mind fuck myself with music today. below are my selections:

Beth Hart & Joe Bonamassa - Don't Explain
Shrug - Whole Hog for the Macho Jesus
Loretta Lynn - Van Lear Rose
Beck - Sea Change
Shooter Jennings - Family Man
Youth Lagoon - The Year of Hibernation

just odd enough all together that it makes sense.

on a farm note, always interesting when you're feeding the cats and birds and you find skunk shit near the cat food. i think we have 6 new kittens, all born in the last 3 weeks. so someone was busy fucking in the winter. i don't give them much of a chance though. the coyotes seem to be growing in numbers. always fun to sit by the bay window and enjoy this zoo.

lastly, my favorite quote from William S. Burroughs,

"Language is a virus from outer space."
