Happy 4th of July...

so, first off, i want to wish everyone a safe and happy 4th of July.

i was hoping to get up earlier today, but apparently the shower i took at 2 in the morning actually did the trick. i didn't get up until 10 this morning. i know i got at least 6 solid hours of sleep. fuck, that might as well be a coma for me.

the New York Yankees won last night at home against Baltimore, 6-3. hopefully, they will win again this afternoon.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be NXT and Deadliest Catch.

the only tradition i truly have on today is watching the hot dog eating contest. it is currently in a lightning delay.

i will probably watch plenty of the MLS today as well as the Gold Cup.

i should be on here tomorrow after i get the grocery shopping done.

i hope everyone has a great holiday. stay safe, have fun, and please, stop fucking shooting each other.

until tomorrow kids...

happy 4th of July...

i would say happy independence day, bu that would only be for the people who are independent and not everyone. and if you have to think about what i just said, please wake the fuck up already.

i was breaking down some boxes for mom yesterday to recycle and the comedy of errors began. first off, i somehow split my underwear in the crotch. and then i cut my fucking middle finger right on the damn nerve. that should be a lovely scar. joy.

Smackdown and 205 Live were both pretty good last night.

i cut off most of my goatee last night, mostly so my mask would fit better. it looks pretty funky right now.

Manchester United won today 5-2. that's the most goals they have scored at home since 2011. it's like the old days again... hopefully the roll will continue until the end of the season.

i did watch the hot dog eating contest today. sadly, that's probably the only 4th of July tradition i have.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Austin City Limits and ROH.

i'll probably watch some more soccer today, probably some auto racing and the TBT tournament starts up today. it's going to be weird watching live basketball once again.

i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow.

if you are going to see fireworks tonight, stay safe and enjoy the evening. if you're watching them on television, enjoy. or if you are wondering which assholes are firing them off in your neighborhood like i will be doing, have a good one.

until tomorrow kids...

4th of July

i'm not big on parades or fireworks anymore. i don't care for anyone who wears the flag as clothing. the premise of what the United States of America should actually be, where everyone is free and equal, is a noble yet naive belief. i hate that i can't do more to change this place for the better, but that's an argument about capitalism for another day. go enjoy your hot dogs, your fireworks, your endless amount of beer and a president that believes this holiday should be a tribute to him. part of me almost wishes those tanks would be loaded and... i don't trust free speech in this country anymore so i'll keep those joyous thoughts to myself.

the New York Yankees won last night over the Mets, 5-1. they start a four game series down in that dump in Tampa tonight. the Yankees have a 6 1/2 game lead over Tampa in the division.

Vice News Tonight was pretty good last night.

both episodes of The Wrestlers last night was excellent. i believe that's the end of the series.

Big Brother was pretty crazy last night. i guess for the first 4 weeks, the evicted house guests are going to still be living in the house. that should be interesting.

NXT was really good last night.

the USMNT defeated Jamaica 3-1 last night. they still haven't played a complete game yet in the Gold Cup. they will probably have to to defeat Mexico in the finals on Sunday.

Sunday will be an amazing day for U.S. Soccer. the women playing in the World Cup finals in the morning and then men playing in the Gold Cup finals in the evening. i know damn well which team has the better chance of winning.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

nothing on the DVR tonight.

i did watch the hot dog eating contest this afternoon. after that, i had to make a run to the local grocery store as mom decided she wanted some things from the deli to eat for the next couple of days; potato salad, coleslaw, etc.

i will probably be on here tomorrow after a trip to the larger grocery store.

i have clothes to fold and another load to put in the washer, so that's all for me kids.

if you are doing the fireworks, be safe, have fun, call if you need bail money.

enjoy the 4th. at least someone should.

happy 4th of July

i don't know if i'm going to enjoy it or not, as it is raining here and is supposed to for most of the day. but, i hope all of the rest of you get to enjoy some fireworks, food, drink and whatever the fuck else makes a great 4th of July for you.

the New York Yankees salvaged the 3rd game of the series with San Diego by winning 6-3 yesterday. Mark Teixeira hit the 400th and 401st home runs of his career in the game. they play today in Chicago against the White Sox.

Ray Donovan was excellent last night. it's good to see Lisa Bonet back on television. that reminds me of many dirty dreams in my youth.

Roadies was really good last night.

Big Brother was pretty funny last night. i laughed really hard when the one side of the house figured out they were lied to. have any of you dumb fucks actually watched this show before?

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

nothing on the DVR tonight. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.

i figure i'll probably watch the hot dog eating contest at some point today as well.

i just saw that Kevin Durant is going to sign with Golden State. if you can't beat them, join them. hopefully everyone gives him the same amount of shit people gave LeBron for leaving Cleveland to go win in Miami.

Euro 2016 Update:
France beat Iceland yesterday 5-2. France started off on fire, something they hadn't done all tournament. they were up 4-0 at halftime. i'll give Iceland credit for at least making the second half watchable. they will go home and be heroes forever now. so the semifinals are set. Wales vs. Portugal and Germany vs. France. 2 games that should be very interesting.

it looks like my new chapbook is getting closer to completion. i can't wait to share the news with all of you. it's with a publisher i've always wanted to work with.

that's all for me kids. i hope you have a safe and great 4th of July.

independence, what a concept

so i've been up since 5 this morning, mostly because i'm not ashamed to admit that i love pro wrestling enough that i sacrifice sleep for it. and for at least two matches, it was absolutely worth it. more on that later.

happy July 4th to everyone. enjoy the fireworks, hot dogs, burgers, beers, and whatever else you do on this day:

last night was an interesting one. first off, team USA did not play that well against Guatemala, but still came away with a 4-0 win. hopefully they play better when the Gold Cup starts in a few days. i did like this goal though:
it's about fucking time...

the New York Yankees got behind 3-0 last night and i figured, given the pitcher they were facing, it was done. silly me. Tampa took their starter out and the Yankees offense finally showed up. Tex hit a huge 3 run HR that tied the game in the 8th. the Yankees pissed away chance after chance to win the game. and then the 12th inning happened. i'm fucking sick and tired of Girardi over managing this team. he brought in a reliever when he didn't need to and of course, Tampa goes up 5-3. thankfully, Tampa walked the lead off batter of the bottom of the 12th. then the inning goes like this: strikeout, hit by A-Rod beating the shift, single by Tex to score a run, and then boom. there was fireworks going off outside the stadium. Brian McCann made sure they went off inside as well.
easily the best win of the season. they play again this afternoon.

NJPW was excellent last night. hopefully one day the promotion will start airing matches in this country that are currently going on.

enjoy a quick music break boys and girls:

the WWE event this morning, Beast in the East, started off great. Jericho vs. Neville was a very good match. the ladies match was good, not great. i did like how they booked Brock Lesnar as he virtually killed The New Day. but for some fucking reason, the WWE put on the match that should have finished the show next. Balor vs. Owens was a fucking classic. and as much as i love Kevin Owens, this was the proper thing to see after the match:

hopefully this means Kevin Owens will be winning Cena's US Championship in 2 weeks. the "main event" ended up being Cena and Ziggler vs. Kane and King Barrett. who the fuck gives a shit about a match that you could easily see on television on any Monday or Thursday. stupid, stupid, stupid. if i was booking the show, i put Owens and Balor on last and tell the vets to suck it up, they are better than you are. get over it. all in all, i'm glad i was up to watch it. it just could have been a much better show if the 3rd match of the year that Kevin Owens has been in would have gone on last.

the rest of my day looks like this: watching the Hot Dog eating contest, watching the Yankees, watching some soccer, including the Copa America final between Chile and Argentina. i figure tonight i'll find some fireworks on the television somewhere and then watch ROH and god knows what else. in between all that sitting on my ass, i'm figuring there will be some food bad for me, a long nap, a few items put together that mom wants done, and some bird watching as that is what passes for entertainment in this glorified retirement community i'm in.

i did talk to a stranger on Google+ this morning. i know, you have heard this before. her name is Rose, single, no kids, etc. so far, she hasn't mentioned needing money or Nigeria, so things are looking up. plus, her picture looks nice as well. that is probably a red flag, but i have the dreamer's disease.

that's all for me today. hope everyone has a great weekend. be safe. have fun. stay out of jail.

imagine what the world would be like with no people to fuck it up

as i have slowly dipped my toe into getting back into society, i would like to think my patience with humans has increased. today was going to be truly the test to see if it has. mom was ready to leave by 9:30 this morning. i put on something clean and got my keys. we first had to go to a store to see if they had the stuff we use in our laundry that our normal grocery store doesn't carry anymore. thank fucking god they had 3 jugs of it. then mom realized that she hadn't had anything for breakfast. somewhere in the back of my mind i was hearing a lecture about how life is a circle. how we start in diapers and end up in them as well. after we checked out there it was off to the grocery store. about 90 minutes later and my bone spurs screaming fucking murder at me, we were loading the groceries in the car. it was fucking crowded beyond belief. thankfully, there was this one fine black woman in the store that kept my imagination entertained. she was dressed like someone told her they were shooting a rap video at the grocery store this morning. i think every dirty old man like myself was thinking the same damn thing... why the fuck did she bring her child?

on the way home i thought about something mom wanted that we didn't get. thankfully, she didn't say turn around. after i got the groceries in the house, i went to get the mail out of the mailbox. one of the guys next door, the ones that have been doing a fucking garage sale for the last 4 days, utters that he's been enjoying the birds. i smiled, which i'm sure came off as do i look like i feel like fucking talking at this moment, and just kept walking. the last thing i want for these people around here to think is that i'm a nice guy who likes to have conversations with strangers.

mom basically went back to sleep and i've been on the computer for the last 4 hours. good thing my life doesn't revolve around this fucking thing.

please enjoy a music break:

Big Brother last night was good. Jace went home as expected. Becky and Shelli won the HOH's. since the 4th of July is coming up, they have put the house on fast forward as they are already filming what is going to be seen on Wednesday today. hopefully they backdoor that crazy cunt Audrey this week.

did i type that out loud. oh well.

tonight i'll be flipping between NJPW, the Yankees game at home against Tampa, and the USA men's soccer team friendly against Guatemala. that should be a good tune up for the upcoming Gold Cup. plus, i believe the 3rd place game for the Copa America is tonight.

hopefully while i'm enjoying a couple of victory beers tonight, i'll write a few poems. i definitely want to get a few more good ones written before i go into my usual no writing because i'm actually trying to enjoy the summer mode.

here's some funny shit:

i hope everyone has a lovely July 4th. i'm trying to have my ass up at 5:30 in the morning to watch the WWE special live from Tokyo, Japan. if not, they are replaying it throughout the day. but, you know me, i'd much rather watch anything live.

if you are playing with fireworks in the next few days, remember to only blow off your own fingers and not someone else's. don't drink and drive unless you are less drunk than your buddy. and lastly, never stick your face really close to a gas grill unless you say to everyone at the party, WATCH THIS. those my friends, are the famous last words of any white trash fucker that has roamed the earth. with that being said, enjoy the bright colors, a sunburn and a few cold drinks.

i should take holidays off from this blog but i am a glutton for punishment. so, expect me in the evening sometime to show up pissed off about something.

be careful, you'll blow off your hand...

i've never been much of a fireworks guy. once i entered my teens, anytime the fireworks started, it was the time to go sneak off and do drugs, drink, or make out. i suppose the 38 year old pervert inside of me misses those days the most. not that there was a ton of making out going on. but the drugs, man the drugs...

holy shit, the Yankees won last night, 7-4. Tanaka was not at his best but the offense woke up for a night. they called up a kid from the minors (well, not really a kid, spent 8 years down there) who homered in his second at bat. Beltran hit a huge 3 run homer. and thankfully, Phil Hughes went back to being the same shitty Phil Hughes that used to pitch for the Yankees. they play again this afternoon. maybe they will remember what a winning streak is.

i am looking forward to the World Cup games today. Germany plays France and Brazil takes on Colombia. i have Germany and Brazil advancing, even though i would not be shocked if that doesn't happen. i expect two really good games today.

i don't really have anything planned for tonight, so i imagine i'll find something on tv to watch. and then maybe a creative outburst at some point.

Joey did get eliminated from Big Brother last night. might be one of the worst players EVER. the new HOH's are Amber and Devin. there goes my hope of Devin leaving the house this week. and i don't think the other pussies in his alliance have the guts to even figure out a way to back door him this week. not sure why people play the game this way. of course, i don't even bother to try out for the show, so i'm one to talk.

was kind of stunned when i got that poem published this morning. wasn't expecting that at all. i still find it amazing at how much the internet has changed the life of a poet. never when i started dreaming of getting published in my teens did i ever think it could possibly happen within a day.

i had some pizza last night for dinner. i think there was just enough of grease in it that i have flushed everything but my soul down the toilet this morning. try shaking that visual out of your head today.

hope everyone has a great holiday. for everyone else outside of this country, hope you enjoy the World Cup games.

be well. be creative. be safe. be worried about that extra hot dog.

when it's too hot for a holiday...

a good July 4th to everyone. hope this finds you cool and with a cold beverage in hand. the last time i recall a heatwave like this was back in 1988. i was 12 and ready to die. not much has changed...

if any of you are into podcasts i urge to go over to http://www.notsam.com/ and check out the Sam Roberts Show Online. a highly entertaining podcast if i must say. an enjoyable way to pass the time.

i'm hoping the Yankees can avoid the sweep today but my hopes aren't high. the quicker they can get out of that dump the better.

no real plans for today other than napping and watching tv. i'm hoping an urge to write erupts inside of me, but i really don't know if i want to force it out of me. if the earth moves, i'll be sure to pass along an update.

either the cats are hiding from the heat (85 degrees by 9 am) or they are dropping like flies. my gut says hiding. but we all know my gut has shit for brains. if they all end up going, i guess the cat food won't be eaten by raccoons, skunks and groundhogs anymore. just ask anyone who has ever been out here. it's a fucking zoo.

an afternoon with no internet

my internet was out from 8:15 this morning to 5:09 this afternoon/evening. that's alot of time to fill.
so, i want to thank the Dan Patrick Show, a trip to the post office, doing the dishes, reading the paper, jerking off to QVC (don't ask) and my constant need for music for getting me through the day. i don't know if i have ever played chess vs. the computer so many times in one day. i actually won a few for a change.

waiting on Parise and Suter to stop holding NHL free agency hostage. after those two make up their minds, the Rick Nash sweepstakes can begin. if the Rangers can get him without giving up any of the key kids, i'm all for it. it seems like he wants to be in New York, a welcome change from most years.

with the holiday approaching i'm hoping to get some writing done. those are my current plans for the 4th of July. i'd like to have a big submission pile by mid July, hopefully to take my mind off my book coming out soon. anxiety can be a mother fucker at times.

afternoon music:

bracing for the heat

so i should be happy with the Yankees sweeping the Indians but hard to smile when CC and Andy both go on the disabled list on the same day. i guess we'll see just how deep the pool is for the time being. god willing Adam Warren will take this chance and make the most of it. my best hope though is the home runs keep coming.

how in the fuck does CR7 not take a pk for Portugal today. mind blowing right there. a snooze of a game. reinforces my belief that whoever wins between Italy and Germany will win the whole damn thing. if i was a betting man, my money is going on Germany.

supposed to get up to 100 or damn near for the next 4 days or so. that should do wonders for the crops. hopefully the a/c doesn't decide to give up in this heat. and with it being so dry and the 4th of July coming up... shouldn't be long before some dumbass burns a field down with a sparkler.
