Happy Fourth of July

i hope everyone has a great Fourth of July.

i've been up since 7 AM. don't ask me why.

the Yankees lost last night to the Reds, 3-2. hopefully, they will avoid the sweep this afternoon.

AEW Dynamite was good last night.

i got 9 out of 10 MLS games right last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

nothing on the DVR tonight.

today will be baseball. this evening will be the copa america. and then tonight, probably fireworks.

i don't have any concrete plans for today. i might reconfigure my small ass room, just to see if i can get it to where i can get all my clothes into the dressers. what that really means is i might have a large ass donation to the Vietnam Vets soon.

i hope the weather is good wherever you happen to be. i know it is supposed to start raining here at noon.

i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow.

enjoy the holiday...

until tomorrow kids...

Happy 4th of July...

so, first off, i want to wish everyone a safe and happy 4th of July.

i was hoping to get up earlier today, but apparently the shower i took at 2 in the morning actually did the trick. i didn't get up until 10 this morning. i know i got at least 6 solid hours of sleep. fuck, that might as well be a coma for me.

the New York Yankees won last night at home against Baltimore, 6-3. hopefully, they will win again this afternoon.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be NXT and Deadliest Catch.

the only tradition i truly have on today is watching the hot dog eating contest. it is currently in a lightning delay.

i will probably watch plenty of the MLS today as well as the Gold Cup.

i should be on here tomorrow after i get the grocery shopping done.

i hope everyone has a great holiday. stay safe, have fun, and please, stop fucking shooting each other.

until tomorrow kids...

happy 4th of July

i hope everyone has a happy and safe 4th of July.

the fuckers around here have shot off so many damn fireworks the last couple of nights, i have no clue how the fuck they would have any left for tonight.

the Yankees lost yesterday to the Mets, 8-3. they play a doubleheader today. if the Yankees lose both games they should be happy that George Steinbrenner is dead. if he was still the owner, there would be heads on stakes at Yankee Stadium after this shit.

here are your highlights from the NBA playoffs last night:

so, the NBA Finals are set. Milwaukee vs. Phoenix.

at the Euro 2020 yesterday, Denmark defeated Czech Republic, 2-1. England whipped Ukraine, 4-0. the semifinals are now set. Italy plays Spain on July 6th and England will play Denmark on July 7th.

at the Copa America yesterday, Colombia defeated Uruguay on penalty kicks, 0-0 (4-2) and Argentina defeated Ecuador, 3-0. the semifinals at the Copa America will be Brazil vs. Peru on July 5th and Colombia vs. Argentina on July 6th.

i did watch the Columbus Crew vs. New England Revolution game yesterday. it finished 2-2. i wanted to see what the new stadium looks like in Columbus. it does look amazing, at least on television.

ROH was really good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be The One And Only Dick Gregory.

i will be watching the hot dog eating contest like i do every 4th of July.

i'm sure i will watch some fireworks tonight and hopefully won't be pissed off at two Yankees losses.

i will probably watch some NASCAR today, especially if i need a good nap.

i did go out and water the tomatoes this morning. it is supposed to get up to 90 today, so i don't think we're going to be opening the windows.

i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. i hope your Sunday will be even better.

until tomorrow kids...

4th of July

i'm not big on parades or fireworks anymore. i don't care for anyone who wears the flag as clothing. the premise of what the United States of America should actually be, where everyone is free and equal, is a noble yet naive belief. i hate that i can't do more to change this place for the better, but that's an argument about capitalism for another day. go enjoy your hot dogs, your fireworks, your endless amount of beer and a president that believes this holiday should be a tribute to him. part of me almost wishes those tanks would be loaded and... i don't trust free speech in this country anymore so i'll keep those joyous thoughts to myself.

the New York Yankees won last night over the Mets, 5-1. they start a four game series down in that dump in Tampa tonight. the Yankees have a 6 1/2 game lead over Tampa in the division.

Vice News Tonight was pretty good last night.

both episodes of The Wrestlers last night was excellent. i believe that's the end of the series.

Big Brother was pretty crazy last night. i guess for the first 4 weeks, the evicted house guests are going to still be living in the house. that should be interesting.

NXT was really good last night.

the USMNT defeated Jamaica 3-1 last night. they still haven't played a complete game yet in the Gold Cup. they will probably have to to defeat Mexico in the finals on Sunday.

Sunday will be an amazing day for U.S. Soccer. the women playing in the World Cup finals in the morning and then men playing in the Gold Cup finals in the evening. i know damn well which team has the better chance of winning.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

nothing on the DVR tonight.

i did watch the hot dog eating contest this afternoon. after that, i had to make a run to the local grocery store as mom decided she wanted some things from the deli to eat for the next couple of days; potato salad, coleslaw, etc.

i will probably be on here tomorrow after a trip to the larger grocery store.

i have clothes to fold and another load to put in the washer, so that's all for me kids.

if you are doing the fireworks, be safe, have fun, call if you need bail money.

enjoy the 4th. at least someone should.

independence, what is that again?...

i suppose i never fully bought in to the meaning of any holiday in this country as a child. the Fourth of July was always just fireworks, hot dogs, dysfunction and people bitching about politics over alcohol. i don't think it was ever about freedom once in my lifetime. i always think of the George Carlin line, freedom is the illusion of choice, or something like that. it's mainly a day to sit around, bitch about the heat, drink too much, and then laugh at the animals as the fireworks scare the shit out of them tonight. when i lived out on the farm i would usually have 2 or 3 cats come up missing after the 4th. the fireworks would chase them right into the waiting mouths of the coyotes. the cycle of life i suppose.

so today is basically a hot dog eating contest, some baseball, and then catching up on some sleep. i do plan on doing some poetry work today. i have a few new places in mind to send to. that will let me know if what i'm writing now is actually any good or not.

i did write 1 poem last night. i tried to be a good boy and go to sleep at a decent hour. i spent the first 30 minutes tossing and turning because i had a line pop into my head. 2 1/2 hours later, i had a really, really good poem. i will hopefully find a potential home for that later today.

the New York Yankees won last night over Atlanta, 8-5. they will go for the series win this afternoon.

Deadliest Catch was really interesting last night. the whole episode was about the Bering Sea Triangle. fascinating shit.

Smackdown was really good last night.

205 Live was excellent last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Big Brother and Lucha Underground. i'll watch NXT sometime tonight on WWE Network.

i imagine at some point tonight i'll probably watch some fireworks. our little town doesn't do any on the 4th. they do their fireworks when the community picnic happens, whenever the fuck that is. i've lived in this area since 1997 and i'm still plotting my exit.

not exactly sure when i'll be on here tomorrow. i know the guy that's measuring the windows will be here at noon. and i will probably have to go to the grocery store to pick up a new prescription for me. so, perhaps in the early evening hours. maybe in the morning if a wild hair gets up my ass.

i hope everyone has a safe and fun Fourth of July. comfort your pets and take it easy on the drinking in these hot ass temperatures. and then take it easy again.

es gracioso, huimos de reyes y reinas solo buscando llegar a ser como ellos.

heartbreak city

one of the things i have learned over my 30+ years of being a fanatical sports fan is when you have an incredible high, there is a 100% chance that a horrific low will be coming soon. that pretty much describes my night last night.

Dayton was winning against #18 Baylor by as many as 14 points in the first half. Baylor slowly chipped away and i got the feeling Dayton was playing not to lose instead of playing to win. and sure enough, Baylor wins by 1 when Dayton's shot rims out at the buzzer. talk about a punch to the gut. they play again tonight against California in the 3rd place game. i'm interested to see how they respond to that kind of loss.

my sister arrived last night, beating the shitty weather and traffic. she's doing some baking today. no blowups so far, so i'm hoping that our recent trend of being adults with each other will continue.

a busy sports day ahead for me. Manchester United plays in Germany today in Champions League play. when i read about the plane troubles yesterday, i immediately thought back to the air disaster they had back in 1958. i do not have a good feeling about this game today. hopefully i am wrong.

the New York Rangers play tonight against Florida at the same time the Dayton game will be on. i think basketball will win out for the most part. hopefully the Rangers have a better game than the last turd they had.

the sun is out today but it certainly looks cold as fuck outside. i still need to go out and feed the cats and birds. i'm going to wait until after noon, as it hopefully will be above 25 degrees by then.

i didn't get any of the players i wanted in fantasy football this morning. and given the 3 games tomorrow, this is a crazy week for all of that. i'm hoping for a better week than last week. my chances of making the playoffs depend on it.

i was looking for a good laugh this morning and i believe i found it:

if you are traveling today, be safe. if you are getting an early holiday drink on today, have another one. and if you are not in this country and have no clue what holiday is coming up here... hope you have a great Wednesday. i imagine i will blog sometime tomorrow between doing my laundry and watching some football. i don't participate in the whole family (cousins, uncles, aunts, etc.) shit on Thanksgiving. i really have no desire to spend any time around the woman that molested me. fun times.

be well.

how a skunk can ruin life in general

was watching Duck Dynasty last night, laughing my ass of like usual, when i looked over to my mother and asked her if she smelled a skunk. she said yes and went to turn on the outside lights. sure enough, as i'm looking out the bay window, there is a skunk sniffing around the room one of the cats stays in. needless to say, that fucking smell lasted for the rest of the night. it doesn't bother me at all, i suppose because i have lived out here since 1997. as for my mother, she usually gags anytime she smells it. good fun.

i enjoyed most of the Sunday night shows. Big Brother was more of a catch up for me as i missed the show on Thursday. The Newsroom was excellent once again. i think it probably does a better job than most people believe about showing the inner workings of the behind the scenes aspects of a news show. Ray Donovan was great. anytime you can add James Woods to a cast, the show is going to be better. as for Total Divas, maybe i was tired or maybe the show just sucked, but i wasn't feeling it. i did enjoy the in ring conversation near the end of the show, as for the other 55 minutes, blah blah blah. a waste.

the Yankees start up a series with the Angels tonight. i would love to see a sweep or take 3 out of 4. they definitely need to win the series to have any chance of making the playoffs this season. i'll start off with that tonight.

but most of the evening will be spent on Monday Night Raw. given that it's the last live show before the upcoming PPV, i expect 3 hours of goodness. and considering CM Punk is going to be featured tonight, i should be happy.

i got some more illustrations from the artist in Sweden this morning. looks like i have 14 poems to come up with in the next week or so. i guess he took me at my word when i said i don't mind a challenge. so, if you don't see me much this week, you'll know where i am. writing and sending out feelers to publishers.

and, if you happen to understand my creative process, this music list below will explain most things.

hope this finds everyone drunk and stupid.

Ivan & Alyosha - The Cabin Sessions
Houndmouth - From The Hills Below The City

riding a good wave

so the water softener has been replaced, thank god. i got most of the iron out of the toilets, which i imagine will make mom pretty happy. and thankfully, the water no longer stinks.

i watched a good bit of The Voice last night. my gut tells me Danielle will narrowly beat out Michelle but i really have no clue. i enjoyed most of the performances last night. i am really looking forward to the finale this evening. it would be even better if there wasn't a shitload of other things i want to watch as well.

Monday Night Raw was excellent last night. the Mark Henry "retirement" had me laughing and then howling when he turned it into a beat down of John Cena. the potential match up between CM Punk and Brock Lesnar should be really interesting. add in the usual McMahon craziness, Daniel Bryan being brilliant and a surprise appearance from Dolph Ziggler and you have almost 3 solid hours of entertainment.

i caught the last 3 minutes of the hockey game last night. not that interesting to be honest with you.

i might throw a stray eye to the Yankees vs. Dodgers tonight. it will be good to see Donnie Baseball back at the stadium. my favorite Yankee of all-time.

also on the docket for tonight is Deadliest Catch, as well as team USA vs. Honduras in World Cup Qualifying. another must win get the damn 3 points and get closer to qualifying for Brazil.

June 6 is going to go down as one of my best days sending out poems ever. 10 out of the 11 i sent have been accepted for or actually published. that's a good stroke for the ego.

also, a big thank you to the great folks at BoySlut for the nomination. that was the cherry on top for my day.

staying on the poetry tip, i typed up 3 more poems this afternoon that i wrote last night. this gives me a batch of 6 fresh ones to send out, probably next week most likely. i believe i might have a few winners. hopefully i do.

i'm hoping tonight i will be enjoying a few victory beers while maybe catching a little of game 6 of the NBA Finals. of course, if it's a blowout, i won't bother.

and finally, for the muse, i hope your muscles feel better soon. maybe a glass of wine will help you a little more this evening.

music today:

The Allman Brothers Band - Brothers and Sisters
George Jones - Super Hits
