one of those days, again...

ok, might as well start this off with where yesterday began...

Manchester United and Arsenal finished 1-1 yesterday. United almost won a few different times, but i guess only Bruno is allowed to score anymore.

the New York Rangers had their asses handed to them yesterday at home against Columbus, 7-3. if this is how they are going to play and think they are going to make the playoffs, oh boy.

The Americas was very good last night.

The White Lotus was excellent last night.

The Righteous Gemstones was fucking hilarious last night.

Power Book III: Raising Kanan was really good last night.

Last Week Tonight was BRILLIANT as usual.

Yellowjackets was fucking crazy last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be The Voice. i'll watch Monday Night Raw sometime tonight on Netflix.

i have to take mom to the eye doctor tomorrow morning. she's hoping that her vision is good enough to actually get some new glasses. i'm hoping she feels well enough to go as she hasn't been feeling good today.

i need to go cook dinner. i have some ground lamb i need to cook. i'm going to treat it like sausage and make some cheesy eggs to go with it for dinner.

i hope everyone had a good weekend.

until tomorrow kids...

i'm a character in a movie i don't like...

i hate these nights where it is humid and hot. the AC runs all night, even when i have it set at 72. the white noise from my fan puts me to sleep for 30 minutes at a time. then, i wake up, sweating, wondering what the fuck is going on? when i was younger, i would turn these moments into poems. the hard thing now is, those poems are already written. that horse has been beaten dead. good times.

the Yankees had as many errors as runs last night. not exactly the recipe for winning. they lost to the Royals, 8-4. hopefully, they win today to win the series before they go to Iowa to play the White Sox in the Field of Dreams game on Thursday.

Hard Knocks was good last night. it is always fun to laugh at the Dallas Cowboys.

Deadliest Catch was really good last night.

NXT was excellent last night.

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Big Brother and AEW.

so i have a scroll of shit on the grocery list to get today. and with it being hot and fucking humid today, i expect everyone to be on a short fuse. good times.

so, i need to get all the coupons clicked and get ready to go as i would love to have most of this done by the time the Yankees play this afternoon.

i should be on here tomorrow in the afternoon, most likely.

cobwebs...

sometimes i wake up and it feels like i am in cobwebs. and no matter what i do, i can't break out of them. 4 hours later and believe me, it's fucking frustrating.

mom wants me to sit in and listen with her call with the lawyer today. so, i'm not sure if i will get all of this written by the time that happens.

the New York Yankees won last night, 5-3, to finish off the four game sweep of Baltimore. they are back at home tonight to play the White Sox. the Yankees are now 6 games out of first place in the division.

Big Brother was pretty good last night.

the finale of Sharp Objects was fucking great last night, especially the ending.

Ballers was good last night.

Insecure was very good last night.

Power was excellent last night.

America to Me was really, really good last night. that high school almost reminds me of my old high school.

the finale of Who is America? was great last night.

the season finale of Our Cartoon President was hilarious last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight and Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.

Manchester United plays this afternoon at home against Tottenham. i'd love to be positive and believe that United will win. i'm too old for that bullshit though.

i hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.

i will probably be on here tomorrow in the afternoon.

nothing like having your back lock up while walking in a grocery store...

listening to your mother cry herself to sleep isn't exactly how i thought i would spend my 40's. but, sure enough, i had to just let mom vent her frustration over the swelling she's having, the back pain, etc., all of which went into tears and having her ask me to leave the room. listening to her cry as i laid in my bed watching some random soccer game being broadcast in Spanish was disturbing and interesting at the same time. chalk up another night i didn't sleep well. i do think the venting helped mom though. it's one of those traits i have always tried to pass on to younger people. sometimes, you have to learn when you just have to shut the fuck up.

i knew the New York Yankees were going to lose last night when they failed to score with runners in scoring position so many times in the first few innings. the baseball gods will always punish you for that. sure enough, the Yankees lost 7-5. hopefully they will win this afternoon in Toronto.

both episodes of NJPW last night were excellent.

Vice was fascinating last night. i'm not sure how many people truly remember that there is a war still going on in Iraq.

Real Time with Bill Maher was hilarious as usual.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be ROH.

i might watch some of Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final tonight, mostly just to see the atmosphere in Nashville.

i do plan on watching the US Men's National team take on Venezuela this evening. that should be a good tune-up for the upcoming World Cup Qualifying games.

the Champions League final today between Real Madrid and Juventus should be a great one. i really don't care who wins, but i will be rooting for CR7. he's been one of my favorites since his Manchester United days.

we got a new mailbox last night. Menards was having a sale and mom had the people that take care of our yard pick one up. i figure something that normally cost $60 and after the rebate would be $20 was too good to pass up. plus, it doesn't look like any of the other mailboxes in this cul-de-sac. mom forgot to tell them to get numbers for it and the dollar store in town didn't have any. so, there i was with some stencil and a black permanent marker at 8 last night... sophisticated white trash wins again...

i've been up and going for most of this morning it feels like. mom, for some reason, wanted Arby's for breakfast. so i went and got that. i paid for that later on the toilet before i went to the grocery store. mom had a prescription to pick up, plus i needed to get gas and some other shit at the store. nothing quite like walking back where the salads are and your back just fucking locks up. i played it off well and thank fucking god my pain tolerance is not normal. if i truly couldn't function while i was in pain, i think the whole world could be fucked. ok, that might be overstating it, but...

that's all for me today kids. i have to go help mom with her exercises and taking a bath. i'm sure there will be poems.

i hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday. take it easy and then take it again.

too hot to even think

i went with mom to get some banking done today. i know how much the heat fucks with her, so i like to go along as much as i can. after we got that done, we went to lunch. on the way home from there, she decided she wanted ice cream. the a/c in her car sucks, so this was going to be an interesting drive to get the ice cream home without melting. thankfully, i'm a skilled asshole driver. but between the heat, the grease of lunch and the ice cream, i'm ready for a damn nap.

the New York Yankees offense woke up last night and defeated the Mets 9-5. they'll go for the series win tonight at home. hopefully Gary Sanchez gets more at bats tonight. it was nice to see him get his first major league hit last night.

team USA women's soccer team won 2-0 yesterday. their toughest game of the group stage comes up on this weekend against France.

Any Given Wednesday was pretty interesting last night. i'm not a big fan of Caitlyn Jenner, but it was an interesting interview.

NXT was really good last night. it was nice to see Hideo Itami finally come back from injury and i can't wait to see what Bobby Roode does in NXT.

CWC was totally amazing last night. the match between Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa was match of the year quality. i can't wait to see what the next round of the tournament brings.

Big Brother was pretty good last night. our satellite went out for some fucking reason during the middle of it. like all technology anymore, the first thing i fucking do is just reboot the damn thing. sure enough, 3 minutes later everything was working again. thankfully, i already knew what was going to happen on the show. it looks like Da'Vonne is going to get evicted tonight. unless she has the round ticket in her envelope, which would make for some great television tonight.

Tyrant was excellent last night. the twists and surprises just keep on coming.

enjoy some music:

i did listen to the latest Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast this morning. a fascinating interview with the latest jobber of the WWE. i highly recommend it. you can find it by going here:

much to my amazement

so, my sister shocked the shit out of me yesterday. she gave me my gifts for my birthday. a funny card, a kick ass RUN DMC t-shirt and then a bag with some papers and magazines in it. i was like, ok. she then said we have a hotel room booked in Cleveland for when the Yankees will be up there. i nearly shit myself. so i guess we're going to do a little family weekend in July. i have never seen the Yankees play in person. i've been a fan since 1982. i think we're also going to try to hit up the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, some of the breweries and restaurants up there. now, the tricky part will be getting the baseball tickets. needless to say, my 40th birthday has turned out to be much better than i thought it was going to be.

after i watched the Manchester United debacle this morning (more on that later) mom, my sister and i went out shopping. we hit Menards and found a few things we needed. the birds will be happy, that's for sure. after that, lunch. we went to the place where our cousin works as a bartender. it was my sister's first time there. i think she liked it. she ate all the food, so i guess. after that, we hit a discount store to look for more shit. more or less this is what my sister does just about every weekend. of course, she told me shit has to be 60% off before she'll leave her condo.

i got a sign today that says a clean house is a sign of a wasted life. i proudly put that fucker up in my room.

last night, the New York Rangers continued their mastery over Carolina. with the 4-1 win, they have now won 19 of the last 20 against them. in bigger news, with the win they have now won 2 games in a row for the first time since before Thanksgiving. thank fucking god.
they play tomorrow at Ottawa. thankfully, they didn't get stuck in the storm.

after that, i watched Dateline with my sister. she loves these kind of shows. Treehouse Masters was really good last night. the English cottage looked great. NJPW was excellent as well.

so this morning i woke up and really thought Manchester United was going to play good today. silly me. for some reason (injuries i suppose) LVG went with a back 3, which always means a back 5 because they have to possess before they can move forward. when Southampton scored late to win the game 1-0 (most likely karma for the Liverpool win) i was fucking furious. this was as dreadful as United has played all fucking season. how LVG keeps his job now is beyond me. there are plenty of people, including ones on the bench, that could be doing a better job.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Whitney Cummings HBO Special, Saturday Night Live and ROH.

i really hope everyone had a great Saturday. i'd love to get a long nap in, but i know that's not going to happen.

and then life gets in the way...

i put some ice on my back last night as it was killing me, right around 11:30 or so at night. next thing i know, i wake up at 4:45 AM, all the lights still on and i'm wondering what the fuck happened. i completely forgot about the ice on my back, as i found that later in the afternoon, still in the chair. i suppose frustration, pain, life, etc. just all hit me at once. of course, i couldn't fall back asleep once i woke up. not even a damn nap this afternoon.

since i was up early, i listened to the new podcasts from Men in Blazers and Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast. both were excellent.

i found a few songs for FREE on iTunes last night. you'll see those listed down below.

my frustration last night came from the New York Rangers once again losing to the fucking Islanders, 4-1. at least they scored a goal this time. for some fucking reason, they think they can beat the Islanders with skill. will beats skill more times than people actually realize. but, hopefully the Rangers get that loss out of their system soon, as they are entering a stretch where they play every other day for awhile. next up is Montreal on Thursday.

by the way, you can now see the rest of my NHL All-Star game pics in the slideshow on the right hand side of this blog.

i was going to do my laundry today, but our water is just fucking nasty here lately. i changed the water filter and hopefully that will help it long enough for me to get a shower and maybe do some laundry. we just have so much fucking rust and iron in the water now that it's pretty fucking close to unbearable. so of course this happens as we're hoping to sell the place. life...

the USA Men's National team plays a soccer friendly today against Chile. i'm very interested to see how the boys do as 2015 is going to be an important year.

after that game, i'll be watching Lucha Underground. hopefully they have another great episode lined up for tonight.

i'd like to get some writing done tonight. i don't really have anything swimming in my head that needs to get out at the moment, so it should get interesting to see what i come up with on the spot. i don't really like to write like this but i've learned over the years that i'm good enough to make it work regardless.

if i do get a few poems that i like tonight, i'll mostly like do another submission in the next day or so. i've got 5 poems begging to get sent out soon.

that's pretty much all for me today. i'm thinking i will be on here early tomorrow as mom wants to go grocery shopping and there is a ton of shit on television tomorrow that i want/need to watch.

i hope this finds everyone with a stiff drink in your hand. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

torture

my cousin asked me to make him a mix cd like i did for his nephew. seeing that i feel like i now know how to use iTunes correctly, today became a lesson in torture. i got the cd out of the way and then proceeded to find all these old songs that reminded me of past girlfriends. talk about a few hours of misery.

i did watch The Big Bang Theory last night. i laughed at the end because i remember doing plenty of great shit for my girlfriends and i got absolutely nothing in return. and by nothing, i mean nothing. i can't imagine why i'm old and bitter.

i must have been in just enough pain after doing the dishes last night that i sat back in my easy chair and next thing i know it is 1 in the morning. thankfully, i was able to fall back asleep rather easily. not exactly used to getting more than 6 hours of sleep. almost felt tired this morning. almost.

the sun has been out all day long. amazingly, it did hit the 50's. so, the snow is slowly turning to mud. my mother realized that when she got out to open the back to unload the groceries. just enough mud to make a fucking disaster inside the house. fun.

the New York Rangers play tonight in Carolina. i'm not going to say it is a must win, but it is pretty damn close to one. they really need the 2 points tonight. i believe they are back to a fully healthy lineup, so that should help. of course, it would also help if Hank gets a few huge stops early and is really on his game.

i suppose after that i'll be hopefully enjoying a victory beer either watching the tree house show or perhaps some basketball.

early tomorrow morning, Manchester United plays. so i will be getting to sleep early tonight. well, early for me. i'll be on here tomorrow after the game, hopefully not bitterly pissed off. if they lose tomorrow, that anger will take me right into the basketball game tomorrow night. i found out they are also doing the hall of fame ceremony tomorrow night at halftime. one of my favorite players ever at Dayton, Keith Waleskowski, is going in. i wear my emotions on my sleeve, so i'll have a tear in my eyes. never mind the fact it will also be Senior Night as well. hopefully they go out with a win.

i spent so much time on iTunes today, i damn near forgot to eat lunch and take my nerve pill. my love for music is quickly entering the disease stage. i suppose that's one of the better ones to have.

hope everyone has a great weekend. be well, be creative, be naughty, be productive, be evil, be better than the piece of shit next to you at the store.

and in rolled the rain...

right as i was beginning to write this, the wind picked up and it started to rain. not what i was hoping for at all. this is always how it goes when there is corn to take off it seems. never fails.

where to begin... i had a conversation with one of the guys working on the barns out here. he said he was clearing some brush and came across the largest raccoon he has ever seen. that got me thinking that maybe that fucker is the one behind the cat deaths here lately. especially the 3 kittens that suddenly vanished. of course, if that raccoon gets too big, the coyotes will love to eat it. i tell ya, it's like a wild kingdom out here some days.

watched most of England's win over Poland today. was happy to see that Wayne Rooney scored the goal that sends them to Brazil for the 2014 World Cup. i will be watching team USA play in Panama tonight. after i watch The Voice of course.

from what i saw last night, The Voice was good. i was surprised so many steals were used so early. hopefully tonight will be just as good or better.

Monday Night Raw was excellent last night. CM Punk was great once again and i love that the next match with Ryback will be in the Hell in a Cell. throw Heyman in there and it has the potential to be a classic. the tag team titles changing hands at the end of the show was perfect. ties in a few storylines and has the potential to go a few different directions. i really enjoyed the show.

i'm not surprised the New York Rangers are making some changes. better to do it now than wait until it is too late. plus, i always like when the young guys get a real chance to stick up with the big boys. hopefully Rick Nash gets better from his concussion soon. his goal scoring is going to be missed, not only on the Rangers but on my fantasy team as well.

i haven't left the house in 2 days other than to feed the animals. and i don't feel like i have really missed anything. i know it's a delicate line i'm walking between the recluse and functioning human. most days it's just a flip of a coin...

hopefully i will do some writing tonight over a victory beer.

until we meet again...

how a skunk can ruin life in general

was watching Duck Dynasty last night, laughing my ass of like usual, when i looked over to my mother and asked her if she smelled a skunk. she said yes and went to turn on the outside lights. sure enough, as i'm looking out the bay window, there is a skunk sniffing around the room one of the cats stays in. needless to say, that fucking smell lasted for the rest of the night. it doesn't bother me at all, i suppose because i have lived out here since 1997. as for my mother, she usually gags anytime she smells it. good fun.

i enjoyed most of the Sunday night shows. Big Brother was more of a catch up for me as i missed the show on Thursday. The Newsroom was excellent once again. i think it probably does a better job than most people believe about showing the inner workings of the behind the scenes aspects of a news show. Ray Donovan was great. anytime you can add James Woods to a cast, the show is going to be better. as for Total Divas, maybe i was tired or maybe the show just sucked, but i wasn't feeling it. i did enjoy the in ring conversation near the end of the show, as for the other 55 minutes, blah blah blah. a waste.

the Yankees start up a series with the Angels tonight. i would love to see a sweep or take 3 out of 4. they definitely need to win the series to have any chance of making the playoffs this season. i'll start off with that tonight.

but most of the evening will be spent on Monday Night Raw. given that it's the last live show before the upcoming PPV, i expect 3 hours of goodness. and considering CM Punk is going to be featured tonight, i should be happy.

i got some more illustrations from the artist in Sweden this morning. looks like i have 14 poems to come up with in the next week or so. i guess he took me at my word when i said i don't mind a challenge. so, if you don't see me much this week, you'll know where i am. writing and sending out feelers to publishers.

and, if you happen to understand my creative process, this music list below will explain most things.

hope this finds everyone drunk and stupid.

not exactly how i thought my weekend would start

i got up this morning knowing that my mother would already be on her way to my sister's condo in Columbus. i noticed the paper on the table so i knew i just needed to get the mail today. then a few hours later i get a phone call. it's my first girlfriend from high school, who i haven't spoken to in a few years on the phone. she goes on to ask me if i was going to this alumni soccer game later today. she apparently doesn't know that no one i went to school with is in contact with me any longer. needless to say, when she starts mentioning names of people i haven't seen in a decade, i figure, why not. so, i'll be shaving and showering here in a bit and seeing just how deep into social anxiety i have drifted.

i noticed in the mail today i had a letter from Las Vegas. it felt pretty light, which is always a good sign in a poet's eyes. that usually means the publisher or editor has accepted most or all of your submission. i immediately thought this was the case with Peter from ART:MAG and my submission from back in May. i open up the envelope and find this inside: dear contributor: ART:MAG is now defunct!!... Thanx for your past support, -- mag man    P.S. The post office box 70896 is also closed, please don't send mail there.

he also included a little personal note wishing me luck with my writing. so a big thank you to Peter Magliocco and all the poems he published of mine in ART:MAG. that will be one zine i will truly miss.

but, in my feeble attempt to turn shit into chicken salad, i guess i have found the "new" poems to put in some submissions here in the next week or so.

the Yankees lost again last night to a team they should never lose to. CC once again pitched like shit and the offense decided to follow suit. what i'm really hoping is by the time i get home tonight the game is over and i didn't punish myself by watching any of it.

and depending on how late i get home tonight, i don't know if i will see ROH or not. i know there will be some tag team news on this show and a title switch, so i hope to see it. i'm sure i'll catch it sometime this weekend.

other than that, not much is going on. i need to go make myself look pretty (you know, lipstick on a pig) and go swim in the river of nostalgia. i've got to make sure i remember to take some business cards. perfect place to get rid of them.

and if i do end up going to this alumni event, i'll share the sad details tomorrow on this blog.

until then...

some deadlines just come and go

so i spent most of today going through old papers that need to be shredded, listening to some new music, and watching all the baseball trade chatter going on online. i'm not shocked that the Yankees did nothing. management seems determined to drive that team right to mediocre. that should go over well with the fan base.

the Yankees lost last night 3-2 on a walk off hit by the Dodgers. i've been beaten down by this season so much that the anger doesn't even last anymore. yet another game where the pitching was good enough to win but the offense, outside of Overbay, did nothing. i give them even less of a chance to win tonight against one of the best pitchers in baseball.

the season finale of Deadliest Catch was great last night. next season will be pretty different with so many guys leaving or changing crews.

tonight i'll be watching Big Brother and the best show on television, The Bridge.

i did get my order from amazon.com today. so, you'll be seeing some strange names in the music section of the posts. today will be a perfect example.

i may sneak in a few views of the MLS All-Star game tonight as well.

today has been pretty damn dreary out here on the farm. no sun at all. just this haze that is filled with apathy.

add another cat to the danger list. i haven't seen my cat Jermaine Jackson in a few weeks now. i'm pretty sure both it and the cat Walt Whitman are both gone for good. i suppose by the middle of August i'll know for sure.

well, just finished my lunch of a peanut butter sandwich and a glass of milk. not sure if that will help my stomach or not. the way my body has been acting here lately, perhaps it is time for a lobotomy or an exorcism.

and with that lovely visual in your minds, i bid you a fond farewell for today.
