imagine if i could actually get some good sleep...

i really tried to sleep in my bed last night. i couldn't find a comfortable position for anything. after 45 minutes, i gave up and went out to the living room. if i get some ice on my back in my massage chair, i'm usually out in a few minutes. i got close to 4 hours in that chair last night and a good long nap watching tennis this morning. i guess Dan Soder's line is correct... you want to get some sleep? eat a big meal. it never fails.

the New York Yankees came from behind yesterday in the top of the 9th and defeated San Francisco, 7-5. the Yankees are off tonight and start a series at home against the Twins tomorrow.

here are your highlights from the NHL playoffs last night:

the Stanley Cup Final is set. Game 1 will be Edmonton at Florida on Saturday night.

The Chi was very good last night.

Last Week Tonight was EXCELLENT as usual.

on the DVR tonight will be Name That Tune and Monday Night Raw.

i did get my shipment of sports cards i ordered today. i was hoping they would be better but i did get a few good ones and plenty of cards i had never seen before. so, the collector in me loved that. the businessman man in me wants to kill that little fucker.

i think i am going to go to Rite Aid when i get this done to pick up my pills. i'll make dinner when i get back home.

i hope everyone had a great weekend.

i should be on here tomorrow in the morning. i'm going to try to get the blog done before mom has physical therapy in the afternoon.

gutted

so, i got up this morning, feeling pretty good. of course, my arthritis showed up the same time i did to make breakfast. it is always fun when you can't open shit so you have to cut it and put it in a Ziploc bag so it won't go bed. joy. i made breakfast and was finishing it up when the FA Cup final started this morning.

12 fucking seconds in and Manchester City went up on Manchester United in the FA Cup final. i was pissed but shit, there was still plenty of the game to go. United got a lifeline in the 33rd minute when City got called for a penalty. Bruno scored to level the game at 1-1. needless to say, i was really hoping United could pull it out in the second half. City scored again in the 51st minute. United tried to level it again, but were never close to being clinical enough to do so. so now City will have the chance to do what only the 1999 Manchester United team did and that is to win the treble. (Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League).  i'm really hoping Inter Milan will be up for it in a week in Istanbul. but, i am also very aware, when City shows up and plays how it is capable, there aren't many teams in the world that can stop them. all in all, this was a much better season for Manchester United. now, they need to get new owners and sell a ton of players and bring in a new striker, midfield help and probably some new defenders and march forward. i do believe they finally have the right manager in ETH. now, get the players he wants and let him build a winner.

after the match was over, i went to Rite Aid to get my prescriptions.

the New York Yankees lost at the Dodgers last night, 8-4. the game was basically over in the first inning when the Dodgers went up 6-0. hopefully, the Yankees will win tonight.

Smackdown and NXT Level Up were both really good last night.

AEW Rampage was good last night.

Painting with John was excellent last night.

enjoy some music:

nothing on the DVR tonight.

Game 1 of the Stanley Cup final is tonight. Panthers at Golden Knights. the winner of this series will win their first ever Stanley Cup.

i'm sure i will watch some of the MLS tonight as well.

i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow.

nearly perfect...

so, about after 5 innings last night in the Yankees game, i knew what was going on. 15 up and 15 down. i really thought that Jameson Taillon was going to throw a perfect game against the Angels. of course, he didn't. hell, he almost ended up getting a loss he definitely did not deserve. but thankfully, Rizzo hit a clutch 2 run single and Clay Holmes survived the 9th and the Yankees won Game 2 of the doubleheader, 2-1. they won Game 1 of the doubleheader, 6-1. they start a series at home tonight against the Tigers.

here are your highlights from Game 1 of the NBA Finals last night:

NXT UK was really good yesterday.

NJPW was excellent last night.

Desus & Mero was fucking hilarious last night.

the New York Rangers play Game 2 tonight at home against the Lightning. Tampa Bay is 18-0 in the playoffs after a loss, so i'm really hoping the Rangers end that fucking streak tonight.

i did go out shopping yesterday. of course, no one around here had the bug spray mom wanted. i did get some baseball and football cards yesterday at Rite Aid. the football box was WAY better than the baseball box.

i will hopefully have a money order coming in soon for some baseball cards. i have developed a really good friendship with this guy in Washington state. he loves the Mariners and i have plenty of those cards to sell him. if you have a favorite team and would love some cards (1959-2022), feel free to send me an email (jcampb4593@aol.com) and we can discuss the particulars. i usually do 150 cards or so for $15 and that includes the shipping. i roughly have somewhere around 100,000 cards.

and yet more rain...

as of about 10 minutes ago, we have had 2.2 inches of rain from yesterday morning. i guess i don't need to water the plants outside now.

the Yankees won last night over Tampa, 4-3. they can win the series with a victory this afternoon.

the grocery shopping went pretty good. i was a little shocked that i got everything on the list for less than $150.

at least the weather has been nice today...

i just put my last load of laundry in the dryer. my back is fucking killing me. good times.

so i have tried to be productive today. i went to a different bank to make my deposit this afternoon. i had no problems, which was nice. i had to pick up some pills for mom after that. that took a little longer than was expected, but at least i won't have to do that later in the week while grocery shopping.

i then got my laundry started and had lunch. of course, the salad i wanted to have for lunch looked like it has something growing on it... so it was some chicken instead. joy.

i have a few places in mind for my next round of poetry submissions. probably later tonight, i'll figure out what poems are going where.

the New York Yankees lost to Boston last night, 8-5. well, i didn't think they were going to win every game against the Red Sox this year. the Yankees are off tonight and start a series in Toronto tomorrow night.

here are your highlights from Game 2 of the NBA Finals last night:

Axios was very good last night.

Last Week Tonight was brilliant as usual.

Billions was great last night. i can't wait for the season finale next week.

The Chi was excellent last night.

Our Cartoon President was fucking hilarious last night.

on the DVR tonight will be Desus & Mero. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.

Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final is tonight. i'll probably watch some of that as well tonight.

i'm not sure if we're going to mom's meeting with her financial planner tomorrow or not. mom mentioned something to me earlier about just doing it on the phone. i'm planning on getting up early since she could always fucking change her mind again by morning.

when the dreams and nightmares become one...

i think i spent most of yesterday in a fog of depression and pain. i don't think i'm quite out of that fog just yet, although the first poem of June arrived this morning and it's fucking brilliant. so, there is light at the end of the tunnel and it isn't a fucking train.

the curse of Dublin still exists for the USA men's national team. they were outplayed for most of the game yesterday but had the lead at halftime, 1-0. they couldn't find the goal they needed in the second half and saw Ireland score the eventual game winner in stoppage time. fuck me. the USA lost 2-1. in 6 days they will play France in Lyon. i'm hoping the kids will play and the USA won't lose by too many.

the New York Yankees won last night in Baltimore, 8-5. they can go for the series sweep this afternoon, weather permitting. (game has been rained out, doubleheader on August 25th)

here are your highlights from Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final last night:

ROH was very good last night.

Patrick Melrose certainly struck a chord with me last night. the finale of this brilliant series will be next Saturday.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Billions, I'm Dying Up Here, Westworld, Succession, Last Week Tonight, Total Bellas and Drop the Mic.

Game 2 of the NBA Finals is tonight. i will probably watch a little of that late, if the game is close.

and the laundry i didn't get to yesterday (all of it) will probably (hopefully) get done today.

i hope everyone had a good Saturday. i do hope your Sunday will be even better.

nothing like having your back lock up while walking in a grocery store...

listening to your mother cry herself to sleep isn't exactly how i thought i would spend my 40's. but, sure enough, i had to just let mom vent her frustration over the swelling she's having, the back pain, etc., all of which went into tears and having her ask me to leave the room. listening to her cry as i laid in my bed watching some random soccer game being broadcast in Spanish was disturbing and interesting at the same time. chalk up another night i didn't sleep well. i do think the venting helped mom though. it's one of those traits i have always tried to pass on to younger people. sometimes, you have to learn when you just have to shut the fuck up.

i knew the New York Yankees were going to lose last night when they failed to score with runners in scoring position so many times in the first few innings. the baseball gods will always punish you for that. sure enough, the Yankees lost 7-5. hopefully they will win this afternoon in Toronto.

both episodes of NJPW last night were excellent.

Vice was fascinating last night. i'm not sure how many people truly remember that there is a war still going on in Iraq.

Real Time with Bill Maher was hilarious as usual.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be ROH.

i might watch some of Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final tonight, mostly just to see the atmosphere in Nashville.

i do plan on watching the US Men's National team take on Venezuela this evening. that should be a good tune-up for the upcoming World Cup Qualifying games.

the Champions League final today between Real Madrid and Juventus should be a great one. i really don't care who wins, but i will be rooting for CR7. he's been one of my favorites since his Manchester United days.

we got a new mailbox last night. Menards was having a sale and mom had the people that take care of our yard pick one up. i figure something that normally cost $60 and after the rebate would be $20 was too good to pass up. plus, it doesn't look like any of the other mailboxes in this cul-de-sac. mom forgot to tell them to get numbers for it and the dollar store in town didn't have any. so, there i was with some stencil and a black permanent marker at 8 last night... sophisticated white trash wins again...

i've been up and going for most of this morning it feels like. mom, for some reason, wanted Arby's for breakfast. so i went and got that. i paid for that later on the toilet before i went to the grocery store. mom had a prescription to pick up, plus i needed to get gas and some other shit at the store. nothing quite like walking back where the salads are and your back just fucking locks up. i played it off well and thank fucking god my pain tolerance is not normal. if i truly couldn't function while i was in pain, i think the whole world could be fucked. ok, that might be overstating it, but...

that's all for me today kids. i have to go help mom with her exercises and taking a bath. i'm sure there will be poems.

i hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday. take it easy and then take it again.

hello to the summer of expectations...

tonight is the beginning of the Copa America. Colombia vs. USA. i really want the boys to do well in this tournament but this opening game is a brutal one. honestly, if they can get a draw against Colombia i will be fucking thrilled. this is one of my favorite soccer tournaments. and considering this is the first time it is being played in the USA, it should be fun to watch. so most of my blog posts in the next month or so will be around soccer matches. considering the Euro 2016 starts soon as well, it's going to be a crazy time.

the New York Yankees actually won last night, 5-4. the bullpen tried its hardest to give the game away, but Detroit ran out of gas in the 9th. bases loaded and no outs and the Yankees only gave up one run. thank god. that victory beer tasted so good. the boys play in Baltimore tonight. hopefully the pitching will be good because the Orioles have been crushing the ball here lately.

WWE Smackdown was really good last night, much better than Raw was.

Lip Sync Battle was fucking hilarious last night.

i didn't watch much of the basketball game last night. i think Cleveland found out the hard way that playing in the Eastern Conference does not get them ready for the finals at all.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be NJPW and VICE.

i had a horrible day yesterday. on top of the headache and the inch of rain we got, i spent most of the day on the toilet. i didn't know it was possible for me to have that much shit in me. and i know it was a lot of shit as i haven't gone once today. i can't ever remember a time in my life of being constipated. good times.

i'll probably be on here early tomorrow. i believe mom and i are going to knock out the grocery shopping later today, so hopefully i will be on here with good news from tonight.

or it will be the painful reality that the national team is still light years behind the rest of the world. god i hope that isn't true.

where does the time go

i fell asleep last night flipping through the channels. i woke up a few hours later and the Yankees were still playing. mom told me this morning i was more or less unresponsive. i figure one day she hopes that includes and not breathing.

the New York Yankees last night finally won a series, winning 5-3 in 11 innings. Garrett Jones hit a HUGE 3 run homer in the 11th to help give them the win. hopefully they can get the sweep this afternoon.

Deadliest Catch was very good last night.

i helped mom load up her rental car this morning and saw her off to Columbus. she's coming back tomorrow evening, so there won't be much time for any debauchery. i do need to go to the bank, post office and grocery store. so, i suppose today i'll be playing the role of adult.

here's some late night funnies i slept through:

i have no plans to go to the farm auction today. i'm hoping the truck sells for something decent. (honestly, anything over $20 and i'll be thrilled) hopefully, the weather will get better this afternoon. it's been pretty fucking dreary so far today.

tonight will be a night full of pro wrestling. on the WWE Network will be NXT. on my DVR will be Lucha Underground, ROH and TNA. i'm really happy that ROH will be on network television. of course, TNA hasn't done well on Destination America. i'll get a good laugh if ROH does better.

also, a little thing called the Stanley Cup Final starts tonight. in most years, i'd watch. the Rangers loss is still a bit too painful. i'll probably catch some highlights. i do hope Chicago wins.

i'll also have on the DVR tonight the season finale of Brew Dogs. i love just about any show about alcohol.

i also really need to get my laundry done today. i'm staring at a mountain of dirty clothes right now. now, which ones do i put on to go out?

that's all for me today. hopefully i will get some poems out of my adventure in public today. if i do, i'll have something to talk about tomorrow.

a sleepy day under the fan

one of the joys of not getting much sleep at night is the afternoon nap that comes out of nowhere. i believe i lost a few hours this afternoon sleeping in my chair. oh well, just means i'll be up later tonight.

the Yankees dropped another turd last night, losing 10-2.  they start a series with the A's tonight. this smells like a sweep coming on. hopefully, and soon, the team finds rock bottom so they can start to rise. nothing worse than watching overpaid guys who don't give a shit.

Monday Night Raw was painful for most of the night. not many good segments at all. and then the last 10 minutes happened. i always love when something happens that i didn't see coming. Seth Rollins turning heel would be right up there. that was a great holy shit moment. and the beat down of his former partners was vicious. saved the whole show in my eyes and sets up for an interesting summer.

i am all caught up on Louie now. all 4 episodes i watched last night were really good.

other than napping today, most of today was spent reading emails (when the fuck did i get this popular) and watching the media day festivities for the Stanley Cup Final. the butterflies are starting to form for that tomorrow. i will be beyond pumped up for that.

tonight will be as little of the Yankees as i can stand and some Deadliest Catch.

saw a rough cut of the work Janne Karlsson and i have done. it looks fucking spectacular.

sometime tonight or early tomorrow, i need to figure out where i am sending the poems i set aside the other night. i believe i have to find 1 more to add to the bunch to be able to send to everywhere i want to. most likely 5 places in all. all that will be done by Friday at the latest.

i will be on here probably early afternoon tomorrow. i'm setting aside a ton of time to get my mind right before the Stanley Cup Final begins. i haven't truly given a shit about one of these in 20 years. and i'm certainly not 18 anymore. it's mostly trying to make sure i don't keel over and die while watching the games. my devotion runs that deep, yes. so, for the next 2 weeks, if i'm in a shitty mood and you can't figure out why, please assume that the New York Rangers aren't doing as well as i would have liked.

hope everyone had a great day. or maybe your day was like this:

be well. be creative. be more dirty than your imagination...

peace

on a cloudy Monday in June

i wasn't exactly upset last night that they cut the Yankees game short because of rain. the way the game was going, they had absolutely no chance of coming back. the team has completely hit a horrific stretch. and i'm not exactly sure when it will turn around for them. they play Cleveland tonight. thank god i have other viewing options.

i am looking forward to Monday Night Raw tonight. just the promise of some new talent being introduced has my mouth watering. plus, CM Punk will be back soon. that's always something to look forward to. while on the pro wrestling tip, a quick thought about Ring Of Honor over the weekend. every time i watch ACH wrestle, the more i enjoy it. i really hope this kid keeps progressing into a star one day.

i was a little stunned with team USA's victory over Germany yesterday. while i know it wasn't all the German stars playing, a team that struggles to score goals scored 4 on a team whose reserves are better than 90% of our players. i really hope this bodes well for the World Cup qualifiers coming up. highlights from the match are below:

i saw a bluebird eating some sunflower seeds yesterday on the farm for the first time since i have lived here. it immediately made me think of the Bukowski poem...

i did watch the end of the NASCAR race yesterday. Juan Pablo Montoya is my favorite driver of all-time. to see him get passed on the last few laps by another of my favorite drivers, Tony Stewart, was bittersweet to say the least. i'd love for JPM to win on an oval just once so some of the idiots could actually understand how great of a driver he really is. one of these days, it's going to happen.

a big game 7 tonight between the Heat and Pacers. i don't plan on watching much of it unless it's really close near the end or LeBron is having one of those 'holy shit' games.

The Voice is back on tonight. it's down to crunch time now. i'm planning on paying a little closer attention tonight to see who i think will win it all now that my first choice was eliminated last week.

i did go through some poems this morning and have come up with 9 i'll be sending out later this week. hopefully, i make some better choices than i have been making in the past few weeks. although, getting the 3 accepted at Zygote in My Coffee really freshened my outlook, at least for a little while.

that's pretty much all for today. i've got some lunch to get and a long shower to take to hopefully loosen up this back some. i can't imagine why i'm single... always bitching about something in my life. if it's not the back, it's the scar tissue all down the left side of my lower body. of course, knowing it's going to rain 18 hours before it does helps a little. but, since the thought of actually selling off the farm is being tossed around with a little more probability than i was initially expecting, i'm not sure how much good my rain detection is going to do me in the future if i'm living in a condo.

more on that in the coming weeks i imagine.

and here comes the sun fucking up my gloomy day

did something today that i rarely or ever do. edit. while going through some unpublished work, came across two poems i like but decided they needed a little editing. as a firm believer in Allen Ginsberg's "First Thought Best Thought" this is something i hardly ever do. but seeing as these poems have been rejected a few times, what could it hurt. these thoughts will be put to the test as the poems will be included in the 6 poems i'm sending out tomorrow. i suppose in the grand scheme of things, this is nothing more than keeping myself entertained so i don't harm myself or others. it's worked for the majority of my 36 years...

here's hoping the Yankees can build off of last night and get this train really rolling again. and i tip my hat to Derek Lowe, congrats on shutting me the fuck up.

not willing to believe any of the reports i see out of the UK, i have no good Manchester United news. hopefully soon. and hopefully no players get injured in the Wednesday national team friendlies. i'd actually like the team to start relatively healthy and stay that way for a change.

no updates on any new poems. i'm hoping for a nice long writing session Thursday after the Yankee day game. either that or the weekend. but i'm pretty sure i have all the music i need to set the mood.

music today:
