embracing the struggle

nothing quite like going to bed at 3 in the morning and wake up every 10 minutes because you're choking on snot. i eventually had to try to sleep in my massage chair. that has a heating element with it, so i think i was able to trick my body a bit and get a few hours. i suppose this is my punishment for being out in public. and as much as i would like to embrace death, dying from my own snot is not the way i would like to go.

i have a conspiracy theory this season with the Dayton Flyers. the administration has told Anthony Grant that the team doesn't need to be great until the renovation of the arena is done. by then, the team has to be back in tournament. i don't want to believe it but after the game yesterday against Saint Louis, i'm starting to. i have never seen a coach in my 42 fucking years of watching basketball go an entire game without calling a timeout. and then the asshole after the game, when asked by the media about not using a timeout, says he'll look at it and maybe he should have. jesus fucking christ. as one fan put it yesterday, he better get great players here because coaching is obviously not going to be what gets them to the next level. to watch Dayton go from a double digit lead to trailing by halftime to getting back even and then just pissing the game away... i'm getting fucking tired of watching it. and now they get a week to sit on this loss. Saint Louis won 75-65.

Saturday Night Live was great last night.

ROH was excellent last night.

Austin City Limits was fucking brilliant last night.

NXT Takeover: Philadelphia was great last night. the main event might have been the best wrestling match i have ever seen in NXT. and the show certainly set the bar pretty damn high for the Royal Rumble tonight.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be the season finale of Shameless, The Chi, Divorce and Crashing. i'll be watching WWE Royal Rumble for most of the evening on WWE Network.

i might try to watch a little bit of the NHL All Star game this afternoon.

i know team USA is playing a soccer friendly tonight against Bosnia and Herzegovnia. i'll probably see the highlights. i'd love to see them win, mostly because i could use some Jack Daniels tonight.

i'm probably going to miss most of the Grammy Awards tonight. i figure i'll catch the highlights on YouTube during my insomnia tonight.

i figure most of today i'm going to either be trying to get a nap in or having snot drain and racing to a sink. i don't have a fever or anything else, so i think it's just the classic head cold. i figure i'm going to have to break out the NyQuil tonight to get some sleep. a little of that and some Jack Daniels should do the trick.

at least i did manage to get my laundry done yesterday.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. hopefully your Sunday is even better.

not what i wanted to see

so when Dayton had a 10 point lead last night at VCU, i was cautiously optimistic. enter suspect officiating. sadly, Dayton's offense stinks when Scoochie Smith isn't in the game. so when he picked up his second foul of the first half on a bogus call... if the official 2 feet away doesn't blow the whistle but the guy all the way on the other side of the court looking through bodies blows the whistle, you know it's bullshit. Dayton's lead was only 2 at halftime. VCU murdered Dayton last night on the boards and Dayton had way too many stretches of being useless on offense. Dayton lost 73-68. Kyle Davis did come back last night, that might have been the only good thing from the game. they are now in a 3 way tie for first place and if a certain number of games go a certain way today, it could be a 5 way tie. talk about a clusterfuck. Dayton plays again on Tuesday at Fordham.

Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows.

NJPW was excellent last night. they showed two more matches from Wrestle Kingdom 11.

Treehouse Masters was pretty good last night. a treehouse library sounds pretty cool.

Real Time with Bill Maher was fucking hilarious last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Austin City Limits and ROH.

i will be watching NXT Takeover: San Antonio for much of the evening on WWE Network. at least on paper, there looks like there could be some amazing matches tonight.

i will probably also catch some of the NHL All-Star festivities and UFC tonight.

my sister and i went to the grocery store this morning. it wasn't nearly as bad as i thought it was going to be. thankfully, i was able to keep it under $100 again.

i will probably be on here tomorrow after Manchester United plays in the FA Cup.

i hope everyone has a great Saturday. call if you need bail money.

and then life gets in the way...

i put some ice on my back last night as it was killing me, right around 11:30 or so at night. next thing i know, i wake up at 4:45 AM, all the lights still on and i'm wondering what the fuck happened. i completely forgot about the ice on my back, as i found that later in the afternoon, still in the chair. i suppose frustration, pain, life, etc. just all hit me at once. of course, i couldn't fall back asleep once i woke up. not even a damn nap this afternoon.

since i was up early, i listened to the new podcasts from Men in Blazers and Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast. both were excellent.

i found a few songs for FREE on iTunes last night. you'll see those listed down below.

my frustration last night came from the New York Rangers once again losing to the fucking Islanders, 4-1. at least they scored a goal this time. for some fucking reason, they think they can beat the Islanders with skill. will beats skill more times than people actually realize. but, hopefully the Rangers get that loss out of their system soon, as they are entering a stretch where they play every other day for awhile. next up is Montreal on Thursday.

by the way, you can now see the rest of my NHL All-Star game pics in the slideshow on the right hand side of this blog.

i was going to do my laundry today, but our water is just fucking nasty here lately. i changed the water filter and hopefully that will help it long enough for me to get a shower and maybe do some laundry. we just have so much fucking rust and iron in the water now that it's pretty fucking close to unbearable. so of course this happens as we're hoping to sell the place. life...

the USA Men's National team plays a soccer friendly today against Chile. i'm very interested to see how the boys do as 2015 is going to be an important year.

after that game, i'll be watching Lucha Underground. hopefully they have another great episode lined up for tonight.

i'd like to get some writing done tonight. i don't really have anything swimming in my head that needs to get out at the moment, so it should get interesting to see what i come up with on the spot. i don't really like to write like this but i've learned over the years that i'm good enough to make it work regardless.

if i do get a few poems that i like tonight, i'll mostly like do another submission in the next day or so. i've got 5 poems begging to get sent out soon.

that's pretty much all for me today. i'm thinking i will be on here early tomorrow as mom wants to go grocery shopping and there is a ton of shit on television tomorrow that i want/need to watch.

i hope this finds everyone with a stiff drink in your hand. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.
