i watched the Ohio State game last night, really hoping they were going to destroy Oregon and rub their noses in it. when Ohio State got up 34-0 i was so fucking happy. they ended up winning the Rose Bowl, 41-21. they will play in the semifinals of the college football playoff against Texas, which survived Arizona St, 39-31 in 2OT.
a delightful trip into the dark mind of an evil genius or simply the musings of an asshole

another day talking about death...
my mother isn't exactly aging gracefully. i can tell the fear she has on most days as her motor skills decline, becomes more forgetful, etc. i try to tell her to think of the positives, but that does nothing. she often talks about being afraid to die. i stress to her constantly that death is only the natural conclusion to life. it will happen to each and every one of us, whether we like it or not. i want her to enjoy what she has left, not be afraid of what is coming. as someone who has wanted to die since he was 8 years old, i believe i have some experience in saying fuck it, and just move on. but, i can't say i am fully prepared for my mother's death. part of me doesn't want to be overly prepared for it. i want to live in the urgency of now. also, i don't believe she will be dying anytime soon. the problem she is having is none of the drugs they are trying on her are working. so, now i think she has no choice but to go on insulin. and i'm not really looking forward to that. cause i know damn well i will be the one giving her shots before too long. joy.
the Yankees lost last night at home to Cleveland, 9-5 in 12 innings.

and here we go...
so, i am going to try to fly through this as i am running behind this morning. of course, nearly 4 hours of sleep can do that to you sometimes.
mom and i did go out to lunch yesterday after her physical therapy. she wanted to go to this new Mexican restaurant in town. amazingly, it was really good. the closest thing i have had to "real" Mexican food in years. i can definitely see this place becoming one of my favorites.
after that, i typed up the two poems i wrote when we got back home. i did watch some of the Euro 2024 yesterday. Germany destroyed Scotland, 5-1.

at this rate, i'll be dead before 50...
insomnia is winning the war. my mother can't make up her fucking mind. my stress level is slowly killing me. welcome to my fresh slice of hell today.
my mother is very passive aggressive. case in point. she wanted to go walking today. in the same sentence, she changed her mind because she has been coughing and sneezing and not sure her allergies would be able to handle it. 15 minutes later, she wants to go out walking but isn't sure when i would be done with my blog. as usual, it will be my fault that she didn't get to go out walking because i was busy writing my blog. this frustrates the living shit out of me because she knows i can do this fucking blog whenever. it's not like i fucking sleep anymore. as i tell her all the time, and this always makes me chuckle since this is the exact same shit she taught us when we were growing up, choices have consequences. i can't stand the wishy washy shit. make up your fucking mind and go.
the New York Rangers won last night at Carolina, 1-0. that was a big win.

happy birthday to me
i am now 48 years old. that is roughly 21 years longer than i ever wanted to live. of course, my disappointment with that has softened over the years. i did write 2 poems last night that i think are really fucking good. i made some cinnamon rolls this morning. arthritis made that a fucking adventure. but, they came out pretty good and aren't burnt. joy.
the Dayton Flyers won yesterday at home against Rhode Island, 96-62.

the entire world should be thankful i have patience
so, i overslept this morning and got up at 9. i wanted to be up earlier, just in case the guys got here early for the kitchen. thankfully, they got here around 10. mom overslept as well. one of the guys involved in the project lives in town, so that will be rather convenient. he's also a New Orleans Saints fan, so that is rare around here. i think i now know 3 Saints fans in this town. they got all the countertops measured and were gone in about a hour. i then had to run up to Kroger because mom forgot to tell me she had pills ready to be picked up. i got back in plenty of time to get mom to her doctor's appointment. now, when my mother is stressed or anxious, she becomes a chatty Kathy. the doctor's appointment was at 2:20. we got out of there at 3:53. and i reminded mom this whole appointment was to know her A1C and go over her bloodwork. did she discuss either of those with the doctor? nope. this is the kind of shit that truly tests my patience. then, after the appointment, she wanted a frozen coke. 5 minutes later, she didn't want one, just wanted to go home. 3 minutes after that, she changed her mind again and told me to go to Burger King. she got a frozen coke and a Whopper Jr. she thanked me on the way home for being patient and knows she is driving me up a wall. i laughed and said i believe this is why you said i would make a great wife for someone someday. she always hates that i remember every fucking time she emasculated me and pissed me off to the nth degree. welcome to my life.

the hours just bleed together anymore...
i hate these days where it is humid right from the start. it doesn't fuck with me as much as it does my mother. her Meniere's disease is truly fucking worse when it is humid. she almost becomes a narcoleptic. today she dropped her glass of diet coke in the living room. what makes it even worse, her vision is so bad she thought the coke on the carpet was glass. there's just a glimpse of the fun i have everyday.
the Yankees pissed away a 4 run lead last night and lost to Boston, 11-6. they are off tonight and start a series at home against the Reds on Tuesday night. they are 61-25 this season.

a rainy start to the weekend...
i looked at the forecast this morning and it said it was going to start raining in 54 minutes. i got my ass in gear and got some suet out for the birds. i got the coffee made and then i wrote a poem. i had a killer opening line come to me when i woke up. i made sure to get it down so i wouldn't forget. hopefully, i'll have a few more this weekend.
Smackdown and 205 Live were both really good last night.

the last day of calm
since tomorrow is supposed to be rainy, muggy and windy as fuck, i took today as the last day of calm. it was nice to just relax a bit and watch some soccer and unwind. of course, that only lasted for a few hours. mom had a nurse out here this afternoon. thankfully, her birthday gifts did arrive this morning. she loved the lamp and night light i got her. and we finally have some tomatoes showing up on the back porch. of course, with hail in the forecast tomorrow, i'm going to have to figure out where we can move the plants to save them. good times.
here are your highlights from the NBA playoffs last night:

one of those days where arthritis tries to steal the show...
i love trying to fold clothes when my arthritis is raging. my fingers can't grip anything for shit. it's like i'm all thumbs. good times. my last load of laundry is in the dryer. if there was a god, i'd have my own personal morphine drip.
Monday Night Raw was good last night, for what i watched. to be honest, it wasn't much. i did see Bobby Lashley finally win the WWE Championship. that's been long overdue. other than that, i honestly was watching The Voice.
The Voice was pretty good last night.

let the hypocrisy begin...
my mother audibly screamed last night when she found out about the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg. i told her i'm pretty sure the Republicans will ram through a nominee in the 6 weeks before the election, kindly forgetting the bullshit rules they established when Scalia died in Obama's presidency. i'd love to believe the American people are tired of this kind of hypocrisy, but i know more to actually believe that. the stupid fucks in this country believe god is on the side of the right, therefore they can do whatever the fuck they want. i can only imagine their sadness when they realize religion is all bullshit too.
the Yankees were down 4-0 last night early to the Red Sox. i didn't like their chances, but, the Red Sox are tanking their season. the Yankees came back to win 6-5 in 12 innings. that's 9 wins in a row. hopefully, tonight they make it to 10.
