a cold spring morning

nothing like starting a spring morning off with a freeze warning.

glad to see the manhunt in Boston is over. and i was really happy to see that it ended in time for me to catch a good bit of the Yankees and Rangers games last night.

the Yankees got some strong starting pitching once again and got the long ball from a few players as well. a nice 9-4 win to start the series with Toronto. they have a day game here in a little bit, hence why i'm writing this post now.

the New York Rangers won another MUST win game last night, 8-4. they were up 6-0 at one point. very nice to have a laugher at this point of the season. another MUST WIN game tomorrow against the Devils. here are some highlights from last night.

the poet of the day on my Google+ page is my friend Mather Schneider. i really enjoy Mather's work. we have been published together since back in the 90's amazingly enough. you can find some of his best work here: http://www.myfavoritebullet.com/PPschneider.html

i got out the camera this morning and took some pictures out here on the farm. below are 2 of the 11 i took. the others can be found at my Google+ page.

i hope everyone has a great weekend. until tomorrow...

music today:

Jimi Hendrix - Band of Gypsys

"You have to believe in yourself" - Sun Tzu

sun shines on a dog's ass every once in a while

always nice to see Derek Jeter put the first pitch of the game in the seats. and whoever gave A-Rod some juice (wink, wink), a huge thank you. or maybe it's all to shut up Michael Kay. and kudos to Phil Hughes for popping his cherry and pitching a complete game. always nice to see Verlander look human from time to time.

tried to watch team USA vs. Canada tonight but man, what a bore. Canada totally got fucking hosed on a shit call that cost them a goal. the boys looked tired and disinterested, a deadly combination. hope they find some energy real fucking quick, as World Cup qualifying starts very soon.

watched the end of the Heat and Celtics tonight. glad to see the officiating still sucks. Dr. Evil Stern must love that both series are 2-2 now.

didn't get to see Tiger's comeback win, as a children's telethon was on instead. but from what i hear, he must have found some good pussy this weekend.

be sure to check out my new poem "a crisp spring day" at The Camel Saloon. it's a good one. last post for links.

spent part of the day putting together box furniture with my mother. i don't wish this on my worst enemy.

not much music today, but what i did listen to came from the soul.

Otis Redding - Otis Blue
Charles Bradley - No Time for Dreaming

"He who is prudent and lies in wait for an enemy who is not, will be victorious." - Sun Tzu

lazy ass sunday

i believe it's officially hotter than shit outside. and with a warm breeze that feels like someone left open the front door to hell. come back in and the air conditioning hits you and it's like instant sleep. i feel like a cat i've taken so many naps.

watched a little of the Indy 500. just how lucky can one motherfucker be?

waiting to hear back from The Electric Poet to see what poems they have accepted. always good to get the writing out to some new faces. check out their site at http://www.theelectricpoet.com/

as for music today, not sure what kind of mix i was shooting for. i believe i'm on auto-pilot today.

The Staple Singers - Platinum Gospel
Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears - Tell 'Em What Your Name Is!
Jeff Buckley - Mystery White Boy: Live 95-96
Fine Young Cannibals - The Raw & The Cooked

and to end this fucker out, i shall leave you with something that feels oddly appropriate given my mood, my lack of energy and my existence at the moment:

"Can you imagine what I would do if I could do all I can?" - Sun Tzu
