a star is born

today was laundry day, so i got to the start of the Manchester United game a little late. when i didn't see Anthony Martial or Chris Smalling out on the field, i feared the worst. when United gave up the first goal of the game, i was furious. i decided to vacuum my room instead of watching the game. of course, United got a gift own goal and was tied at 1 at halftime. of course, if Juan Mata would have buried the pk instead of trying to place it in the net, United would have been leading. and then the second half happened. Marcus Rashford (who?) buried 2 goals and United exploded to win the game 5-1. Memphis was amazing for the entire match. not sure why he can't play like that all the time. of course, it helped playing a small team from Denmark. oh, by the way, Rashford is 18 years old and this was his first senior appearance EVER. i'm wondering if LVG rolls the dice and plays him against Arsenal on the weekend. United advances to the round of 16 in the Europa League on a 6-3 aggregate.
i'll gladly enjoy that victory beer later tonight.

NXT was pretty good last night. i can understand why the main event went the way it did, just kind of funny to see Eva Marie shoved down our throats.

Lucha Underground was pretty much perfect once again. just a great show overall.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be The Big Bang Theory, Life in Pieces, WWE Smackdown, Baskets and Lip Sync Battle.

the New York Rangers play at St. Louis tonight. the boys are getting back two defensemen they really need, so hopefully that translates to a win.

we didn't get nearly as much snow as the assholes on tv were saying we were going to get. hell, i walked out to get the paper and mail this afternoon in shorts.

i did listen to Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast today. it was an excellent one to have on while doing my laundry.

not sure when i'll be on here tomorrow. i know i need to take mom to the grocery store. and i'm starting to get that itch to break out the watercolors again.

i hope this finds everyone wondering who i was writing about in those two poems that got published today.

never had any dreams of being rich and famous

yesterday was one of those days where it seemed like every fucking thing that could happen, did. horrible losses, unexpected emails, thrilling wins, a stunning new beer, holy shit moments on my favorite show, etc, etc. i suppose i should start at the bottom.

Manchester United got the shit beat out of them yesterday 3-0. Arsenal was ready from the start and i don't think United was ever ready for the game. it was a little hard to watch when it was 3-0 in something like 20 minutes. and it was painfully obvious that all United was doing was making sure the lead didn't get any bigger. that's a game i'll hope to erase from my brain one of these days. they go from 1st to 3rd in the league. not good.

i had a decent day in fantasy football. i have already won one of my matchups and i am leading in the other two. as for picks, i have more wins than losses. i guess that's good. i have a couple players going tonight in the Seattle vs. Detroit game. as for fantasy hockey, i should have a much less stressful season as i only have 1 New York Rangers player on my team. that season begins on Wednesday.

a quick poetry update. i heard back from A.J. at Pyrokinection on my recent poetry submission. she decided to pass. i also heard from Dai at Your One Phone Call yesterday. i was asked if i wanted to do their weekly interview series. i said absolutely and spent a good portion of this afternoon answering 10 questions. not sure when it will run but i will definitely whore the link to it around.

i did not have high hopes when the Saints took on the Cowboys last night. Drew Brees looked good, but it was obvious that he was playing injured. but as the game went on and it looked like the Saints actually had a shot to win the game, i went into full fan mode. so you can imagine my anger when the Saints kicker missed a chip shot field goal that sent the game into overtime. thankfully, the Saints won the toss and then this happened.
hello victory beer.

i've been trying these Shock Top beers as i had a rebate for them. i tried this Honey Apple beer last night that was fucking great. i have a few others to try, but i'm thinking they might get added to my go to list.

the New York Yankees lost again yesterday, 9-4. but it didn't matter as somehow the Astros lost yesterday. so the wild card game will be at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday. saw the news today that CC has left the team to go enter alcohol rehab. that certainly came out of nowhere. hopefully he gets control of his disease. i have no clue who replaces him on the playoff roster. i think they are basically just down to a few pitchers anyway, so it probably doesn't matter. if the Yankees somehow win tomorrow, they will face the Royals. frankly, they don't match up well with anyone in the playoffs, so i'm not getting my hopes up.

the Sunday night shows were excellent. the season finale of The Strain had everything. some true holy shit moments, to heartbreak, to i fucking hope there is a season three. Homeland was great. this season looks like it is going to be another glorious mind fuck. The Affair was awesome last night. i love that they are bringing in even more perspectives to the story. that will certainly make it even more interesting. lastly, Last Week Tonight hit another home run on a topic that is near and dear to me:

time for some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

tonight will be the Monday clusterfuck on the DVR. i'll be recording Gotham, The Voice, The Big Bang Theory and Life in Pieces. i'll be flipping between Monday Night Raw and Monday Night football while those shows will be recording.

today has been mostly sunny and in the 70's all damn day. i opened the windows and even gave the birds some fresh birdseed. this is one of those days where i wish we had a deck where i could just take a bottle of wine and go relax for a few hours.

that's all for me today. i hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. i'm off to go wash my balls before i spend the evening lounging. enjoy the visual.

still alive

the beauty of being a passionate sports fan is that on some special nights, you get to be a fucking fool. last night was one of those nights.

the New York Rangers were in a do or die situation. they had to win. so, when Washington scored in the 3rd period to go up 1-0, that certain feeling of doom was in the air. thankfully, the boys decided they weren't finished:
that sent the game to overtime. the Rangers had won 8 straight elimination games at MSG. let's make it 9:
yet another one goal game for the Rangers. but, they are still alive. game 6 will be on Sunday night in Washington. here are some highlights:

the victory beers were sweet after that one. it also helped that the New York Yankees held on to win last night 5-4. they have found a recipe that works but is fool's gold. get an early lead and let the excellent bullpen finish the game out. they are working that excellent bullpen to death. hopefully they can get another win this afternoon.

here's a little late night music:

after i get in a little breakfast, it will be time to watch Manchester United take on Crystal Palace. United desperately needs to win this game if they want to finish in the top 4.

other than the Yankees game this afternoon, i'm sure there will be some playoff basketball i'll watch. on top of that, i know Saturday Night Live is new tonight as is ROH.

i did catch the latest episode of VICE last night. easily, the best news program on television.

here's another song to send you on your way. go enjoy the weekend:

what a night

welcome to the 25th day of National Poetry Month. today, i'm shining a light on a poet i have really admired over the years, the Poet Spiel. a great writer, an incredible artist, all in all, one of those rare breeds that can do a bit of everything really fucking good. i hope you enjoy the links below and find something you want to share or even BUY.

the New York Rangers got off to a great start last night, scoring on the power play (what a concept) early in the first period. the Penguins tied the game in the second on a goal that shouldn't of counted, but i figured it would as all of those fucks that work in the office in Toronto are all ex-Rangers that are fucking bitter about their time in New York. no scoring in the 3rd, which set up yet another OT that would finish 2-1. knowing that the Rangers won the other 3 games in this series 2-1, i felt confident. OT was wide the fuck open. both teams wanted to finish the game off. that made for some entertaining hockey. and then Carl Hagelin scored the biggest goal of his life:
that lead to this:
here are the highlights from the game. 12 more wins to go boys:

the New York Yankees got some more great pitching last night and used the long ball to beat the Mets 6-1. that made me really happy as it stopped the Mets from setting their longest winning streak in franchise history. they will play again this afternoon.

i decided to not have victory beers last night and turned to the hard liquor. 1 glass, 2 ice cubes, Jameson Irish Whiskey and some Coca-Cola. by the second one, it was a little more liquor than cola. good times.

my apologies to the muse for not calling her last night. rain + bone spurs = pain. pain + liquor = sleep.

here's a little late night music for you:

hate to cut this short, but mom and i are getting ready to go south of town to take some papers to be shredded and then she wants to go out furniture shopping. i figure this also means lunch out in public. i suppose i should put on some deodorant.

i did watch VICE last night. another great fucking episode.

on the DVR today will be ROH. i believe Saturday Night Live is a rerun. i think Austin City Limits will end up on the DVR even though it's a rerun as well. i think Jack White is on.

that's all for me today. it's supposed to rain all day long, so i'm really thrilled. hope everyone is having a great weekend. or at the very least, not waking up in a strange bed after a wild Friday night.

welcome to the bitter cold

i'm not really looking forward to the next few days. it is supposed to get really cold. not life and death cold, but cold enough that i'll have to make an effort to stay warm in the house. good times.

the New York Rangers have fallen into a very risky trend here lately. great teams, hell, even good teams can get away with constantly blowing 2 goal leads in the 3rd period. amazingly, the Rangers got away with it again last night. but, 2 points is 2 points. and there were a few nasty goals as well last night in a 6-3 win.

and that wasn't even the nastiest one:

here are the full game highlights:

i did happen to write a poem last night. i will probably type it up sometime this weekend. i'd like to write a few more so i have a good bunch to type up.

i was in some pain last night trying to fall asleep. how i managed to get around 6 hours is beyond me. i'm happy i did though as i have some driving to do today.

this will be a short one as i need to get to the bank and get the mail before mom and i leave to go to Columbus for the hockey game tonight.

i won't probably be back on here until Saturday afternoon/evening as the Dayton Flyers play tomorrow at 12:30 PM. needless to say, i'll be running on empty after that.

i'm not sure if i'll get to watch what i normally watch on Friday nights (Treehouse Masters, NJPW) when i get back from Columbus tonight. i'll probably be busy checking my emails.

i really need Columbus to beat Philadelphia tonight. my fantasy hockey is struggling this week and could use that victory.

i hope everyone has a great weekend. hopefully you don't have shitty weather coming your way. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

my crazy weekend begins now

and since i'm going to be running crazy for the next few days, i didn't sleep worth a shit last night. i tried to actually sleep in my bed and that lasted no more than 30 minutes. i have to basically numb my left arm to get any rest at all. that's fun. so, when i'm sitting at a hockey game tonight, unable to numb that arm, it's going to be really interesting. hopefully the New York Rangers play well so i have some adrenaline pumping. if they play like the last two games, i'm going to be fucking miserable.

before i get to the details of another Rangers loss... the trip to the grocery store. mom wanted to go early in the afternoon. of course, that didn't happen as she had much more work than she thought to get done. so, we left late in the afternoon. more like early evening. we had to get the paper and mail and check the new house for mail as well. we got to the store and i'm planning on how we can get in and out of this place and get back home in time for the game. after waiting for almost 20 minutes to get her medicine, i knew any chance of getting home in time was gone. so, i basically turned it into a chance to do some people watching. i noticed plenty of women wearing stretch pants in the store. not a good look for everyone. but, for the ones that it is, i thank you. i did write a poem about it late last night. i'll hopefully be sending that out soon in another submission. i typed it up this morning and it's a good one. we got what we came for and a few other things and got back home a little after the game started.

of course, by the time i turned the game on, the Rangers were already losing. the game was on the NHL Network and they were using the Boston announcers. needless to say, i'd rather brush my teeth with a shotgun than listen to those fucking clowns, so most of the game was on mute. that didn't help much as the Rangers once again couldn't do much of anything against a good team. yet another 3-0 loss. as much as i want for them to win tonight while i'm in attendance, i really hope they just fucking score. The King will be in goal tonight for the Rangers. he wasn't last night nor the other game the Rangers played in Columbus.

so after the game and a quick bite to eat, we have to get back home and more or less get right to bed. that of course won't happen, but in a perfect world it would. we have a college basketball game (Dayton vs. St. Louis) at 12:30 on Saturday afternoon. the game is on national television, so it's going to be a full house. mom wants to take some clothes to the charity we drop our clothes off to before we go to the game. to toss in more of a clusterfuck, Manchester United plays at 10 in the morning. so the next time i will be on here will be sometime Saturday afternoon or early evening.

i'm thinking i may have to give in and take some strong shit for my arm this weekend. that should make for some fun.

i'm going to miss the debut of NJPW on AXS TV tonight. i'm hoping they put some of it on YouTube but i'm not holding my breath. hopefully i'll get to watch it next week. i'm guessing i'll catch Treehouse Masters late tonight as i'm struggling to fall asleep.

on the bright side, it's starting to warm up a little out here. of course, it's still slicker than shit in the lane, but hopefully that changes. if it doesn't, taking the trash down will be a fucking adventure.

so, i hope everyone has a great weekend. love the one you're with or have enough money to love the one you want. and i'd suggest getting your birthday cards to me in the mail soon. not that i'm expecting you to get me anything (HINT, HINT). most of all, have a safe, fun weekend.

thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

arthritis is kicking my ass

if the first 2 days of 2015 are a clue to what the whole year is going to be like, this is going to be my year of pain. i suppose this will be my true test of my pain tolerance. if i make it to the other side, there will be a new me. if i don't, enjoy the poems along the way of my demise. the fact that it's somewhat painful to type this at all is a wonderful sign of things to come.

other than the pain, i'm still riding the high of Ohio State upsetting #1 Alabama last night in the Sugar Bowl. that was an instant classic. the highs, the lows, my incessant cussing out of coaches for play calls, the touchdown run to seal the win, one of the best victory beers of my life. Ohio State won 42-35 and will now play for the National Championship against Oregon. hearing all these fuckers from down south so pissed off last night made me laugh all night long. the myth of the SEC has now been broken forever. thank god.

it took me forever to fall asleep last night and then i got a whole 2 hours of sleep before i woke up to do the dishes. two days in a row of being up before the sun. i guess i'm suddenly in my 60's. i'm going to try to sleep in my chair tonight. i cat nap in the fucker most of the day anyway. hopefully i'll be able to get a few more hours and hopefully my shoulder will feel better as well.

i'm planning on taking a nice long shower after this. enjoy that visual.

Frontier Communications finally got around to fixing our shit. i guess some mice were the culprit on the other main road out here in the sticks. of course, when it gets really cold here in a few days, i expect our service to go out again.

i guess mom is now targeting late January to start the moving process.

after a little nap earlier today, i watched team USA play Russia in the 2015 World Juniors. Russia eliminated the USA once again from this tournament, 3-2. that's 2 years in a row. the two New York Rangers prospects on Russia played good. i think they definitely have two future NHL players in those two picks. as for the USA, there was something missing with this team for sure. when i saw the end of the game and tempers were flaring and no one came to help one American player, it became easy to see that this was a team of individuals. hopefully they learn from this painful lesson, but i seriously doubt it.

i have no clue what i'm going to do tonight. i might pour me a tall glass of whiskey and start sending out poetry submissions. or i might just watch some television and hopefully fall asleep. either way, i'm really looking forward to that shower.

i'll be on here early tomorrow as we have a basketball game at 1 in the afternoon. it's supposed to be raining cats and dogs. hopefully the freezing rain will have moved on by then. the weather is going to get pretty fucking crazy around here in the next 48 hours. from thunderstorms to snow and single digit temperatures. good times.

one the cats has not been eating much the last few days. i figure the ground is just about frozen solid, so it will be dying soon. they rarely die when i can bury them somewhere. i figure once there is a few inches of snow on the ground and we have some snow drifts out here, that's when the damn cat will die. that's certainly one thing i won't miss at the new house. of course, it really just means i'll end up talking to myself more.

that's all for today. i'm thinking i'm going to do a little shaving before i get in the shower. on my face you perverts. i hope everyone had a great day. if not, drink something stronger. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

i woke up this morning...

and immediately wrote a poem. thankfully, it was a short one or i probably would have shit my pants. i can't remember a time where i have written a poem right away in the morning. and it wasn't something based on a dream or anything like that. i typed it up this afternoon and i like it. i'll probably include it with the next round of submissions.

i guess my mother really likes the house next to her brother's, even though it doesn't have a dishwasher. my sister has already got pre-approved for a loan for it, so i'm guessing she was serious about buying it so we'd have something once we sold the farm. as i told my mother, i don't want to live there but i also know i have no choice in the matter. i think she's making me check it out this coming Saturday before the UD basketball game. i suppose if i like it my only demands will be that i have everything in my room so i'll never have to come out of it. just how i always envisioned how i would live my 40's. good times.

i did pretty well in fantasy football yesterday. i won one match by 72 points. the other i am leading by 14 points but my opponent has two players playing tonight. i don't like my chances.

i did watch most of the highwire shit in Chicago last night. it wasn't as much as a prayer fest as the Grand Canyon one was. there's no way i would have even of thought to try to do the blindfolded one. that was fucking crazy.

Homeland was great last night. i always love unexpected violence. the show definitely went to the 'oh shit' zone last night. i can't wait for next week's episode.

The Affair was really good. that show is perfectly cast.

Last Week Tonight had me laughing once again. that show is fucking brilliant each week.

tonight, the New York Rangers play at home against St. Louis. this will be a really tough game with how injured the Rangers are right now. if they get anything out of this game, i'll be pleasantly surprised.

on top of that tonight, i'll be watching Gotham, The Voice, Monday Night Raw, and later tonight, Men in Blazers. as usual, i'll probably have to rely on YouTube to catch what i miss. at least my mother did say if we move she is planning on getting a DVR. that will make these nights so much easier.

i'm not sure if i'm going to mail out some poems tomorrow or not. it all depends on how pissy i find myself on Election Day. given the assholes this country elects to the government, i'm usually a fucking grouch on the first Tuesday of November.

i do hope everyone had a great weekend. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

a cold sunshine

there was a frost advisory for this morning. all i woke up to was cold sunshine. the guy who farms out here got some more of the corn off. he would have got it all off if it wouldn't have started raining. but, he got about 2 truck fulls off. hopefully there's about another 2 + left to take off.

Ohio State destroyed Rutgers yesterday 56-17. they are slowly reaching their potential.

ROH was excellent last night. i really enjoyed the match between Adam Cole and Cedric Alexander.

Nine Inch Nails was great on Austin City Limits. NIN is one of the bands i have always wanted to see live. hopefully i get to do that before i die.

the college football games were nuts as usual. i did catch the ending to the Florida St. and Notre Dame game. i was stunned the refs actually made the right call at the end.

i did get to see the season finale of The Knick finally. another great episode. i can't wait for the next season of that show.

today is my usual crazy shit mix of sports and Sunday night television. the Saints play at Detroit. hopefully they can get a road win. it should be an interesting one. i don't have many fantasy football players playing during the day today. most of them are tonight or on Monday night. so, i'm not expecting any fireworks today. the Rangers play in the late afternoon against San Jose. i'm going to try to catch most of that. they have juggled all the lines up, so i'm really interested to see how the new mix does against a really good team.

and then my usual clusterfuck of Sunday night viewing. Boardwalk Empire starts off my night. and then two episodes of Total Divas. then a piss break/fantasy football update until Last Week Tonight comes on. then, it's over to Showtime to watch Homeland and The Affair. i got some good sleep last night so i think i should be able to make it. of course, a couple of victory beers and all bets are off.

i still have to feed the cats and take the trash down. thankfully, breakfast has agreed with me this morning. but, i'd like to get all that done before noon so i'm going to have to wrap this little party up for now.

i'll be on here tomorrow probably after Manchester United plays in the afternoon.

hope everyone is doing great after their Saturday night of debauchery. of course, that could just be my imagination. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

nothing a long shower couldn't cure...

i got stuck behind a school bus today on my way into town. that brought back the less than fond memories of going to school in late August knowing you had at least one class in the afternoon that was in the west building. of course, that building had no air conditioning. ah, good times...

the Yankees got a lead last night and promptly pissed it away. they tied the game only to lose it in the 9th, 7-4. i'm at the point now where i truly don't give a shit. i may watch them for a bit tonight, but thankfully there are other shows for me to watch.

Tyrant was excellent last night. i can't wait for the season finale next week.

Hard Knocks was more unintentional comedy for me. being a Saints fan, quite honestly, i get a good amount of joy out of any misery the Falcons have.

tonight i'll be watching Big Brother, Brew Dogs, and The Bridge. hopefully it will be a great night of television.

i got a call from the muse today. i haven't heard from her in nearly a month. i was happy to hear that at least some of her drama is getting settled in her life.

i haven't heard from the dream woman in a few days. as usual, i have no fucking clue what's going on there.

i took a nap this afternoon while watching some Champions League playoff games. i guess i needed some sleep. but, that's nothing a long shower couldn't cure. first time my lazy ass has had clean clothes on in days.

as usual, the weather people got it wrong again here. now, it's the casual excuse of pop up storms. i would love if one of them would just fucking say.. "honestly, i have no fucking clue what it's going to do out there. you may get rain or you may be dry for two fucking months. beats me." that little piece of honesty would win me over for life.

that's all for me today. hopefully, you're in a better place than i am currently. once again, thank you for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

where does the time go

i guess i have officially decided to sleep well when i'm dead. i was up late last night/this morning doing some writing. i wrote 5 really good poems. let's just say, i really hope i'm not being duped by this woman i met or i'm going to look like a bigger fool than i normally do.

i'll type those up later today sometime.

i did happen to catch the first episode of The Knick last night on Cinemax. really, really good. i think i'm going to enjoy this one. if you can catch it sometime this weekend, i highly urge you to do so.

the Yankees got a rare offensive explosion last night, winning 10-6 over Cleveland. helps that Carlos Beltran hit a grand slam. they play again this afternoon. before the game, they will honor The Warrior, Paul O'Neill. i can't wait to see that.

i did also watch the latest episode of Treehouse Masters last night. i'm wondering if i could make one that is a pool hall. now that would be some badass shit.

it's really starting to get dry out here on the farm. now, i know a good number of you living in a drought just told me to go fuck myself. i just want this great crop we have going out here to continue. if this does happen to be our last harvest, i'd like to go out with a bang.

mom has really increased her looking for a new house in the last few days. i figure she either really wants to move or she is just now realizing that her "vacation" is winding down. let it be known, i come from one giant long line of procrastinators. it's beyond frustrating. i'm more of a make a damn decision and live with the results kind of guy. but it has taken all the fibers of my 38 years on this planet to get to that point.

not sure what else i'm going to be doing this weekend. i'd love to hit up this beer tasting festival nearby, but i doubt that's going to happen. a little thing called money. fuck me.

i do hope everyone is in the beginning of a great weekend. until next time my enemies...

i really could use a nice long nap

i prbably didn't get to sleep until 3 in the morning. and sure enough, 6:30 AM and i'm coming down the stairs, wide awake. thankfully, the Yankees play a day game today, so i should have something to fall asleep to.

first off, i want to highly recommend to everyone Part 1 and Part 2 of The Jim Norton Show on VICE. you can find the show here: http://www.vice.com/the-jim-norton-show he interviews Dana White and Mike Tyson. if you have a sense of humor and don't mind some colorful language, this is a show for you. both parts are about 30 minutes and they absolutely fly by. truly well worth your time.

i changed up my plans last night and decided to watch all of the Manchester United game. thank god i did. Louis van Gaal changed the formation for the first time i can ever remember. i don't think i have ever seen United play with only 3 defenders. they won the game 7-0. what i was most happy about was how Ander Herrera played. he looked like the midfielder this team has needed for a decade now. of course, i don't want to get ahead of myself, but that was a fantastic debut. if this is what the team will play like under LvG, the glory days aren't that far away.

Big Brother was good last night. tonight should be Brittany leaving the house. Wilfred was great once again. i LOVE how this final season is going. The Bridge last night was great as usual. SoundClash was a mixed bag for me. i like the concept. i liked the final segment, when they brought elements of all 3 bands together to perform a song. what i didn't care for was most of the show. not a good flow at all. what i hope is the episodes will get better as the bands involved get better. of course, as i explained to my mother, this generation of people will be remembered for the acceptance of mediocrity. there were so many great bands in the 90's that didn't make it, but today would be stars simply because there are so many people that simply like everything. it boggles my mind. of course, these are the same people i'm trying to get to buy my poetry. so, i'm not going to shit on them too bad.

tonight i will be also watching Married and You're the Worst.

i listened to the newest podcast from Sam Roberts this morning. another one that i highly recommend. you can find it on iTunes, Stitcher, notsam.com, or on the right hand side of this blog.

the rain finally has passed through here. it is supposed to be rather nice today. all i really want is for it to dry out so i can mow grass tomorrow. plus, it would be nice if the humidity stays away for the next 2 days at least.

i realized around 10 or so last night that neither one of us went into town yesterday to get the mail. apathy is starting to sprout once again. i'm sure the box will be full today.

the Yankees won a rain shortened game last night, 2-1. once it started to rain and the grounds crew had problems with the tarp, i figured they would call the game. of course, it took nearly 2 hours for them to do that. best thing was that the bullpen wasn't used at all. they needed a night off for sure.

that's all for me today. i think i will probably break out the poems later this afternoon and decide where i'm going to send some work to. other than that, i'm hoping to take a nap.

be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me money. be ready to laugh at yourself.

peace and chicken grease...

cranky

so i woke up in the middle of the night. i checked the clock and it said 4 AM. fuck that was the first thing i said. i went back to sleep and woke up again around 8 AM. i was hoping to see my mother out this morning, as she had to drive to Cincy for a meeting and hates to make that drive. (she called and made it fine and on time). i had a bill i had to pay so i figured after the post office, i would get some breakfast. and since this is my life, 20 minutes later i was on the toilet shitting out, what felt like, a month of food. enjoy that visual. needless to say, i've been a little cranky ever since.

i did watch Big Brother last night. was happy to see Devin leave. i laughed at how the producers made the dummies watching think there was a chance of it not happening. poor souls. now the fun can begin.

i also watched the new comedies on FX last night. Married was pretty good. had a few funny lines. also, Jenny Slate is in it, who i adore, mostly because she looks like a crush i had in high school. the other show, You're the Worst, was fucking awesome. perfectly written, crass, with enough sex to keep any pervert interested. i HIGHLY recommend it.

tonight, the baseball season starts back up. the Yankees are at home against the Reds. the two teams of my youth battling it out. hopefully, i'll find something better to watch.

mom casually mentioned last night that she's thinking of going on vacation the first week of August. what really surprised me is she wants me to go along. i don't think i have been on a vacation in almost 20 years. i'd love to just get in the car and start driving and wherever we end up is cool. but, i also know that is not how my mother operates. so i spent a good portion of today checking out festivals and whatnot for possible things to do that week. i'll keep all 2 or 3 of you that read this updated on what might happen that week. i do have a couple of cameras now, so i'll get some pictures.

i had to clean the bamboo floors today. that was long overdue.

looks like the rain clouds are moving in right now. great. that should make my back feel wonderful.

that's all for me. i do hope everyone has a great weekend. if anyone has any vacation ideas, feel free to send them to me.

be well. be creative. be the asshole that likes the rain and doesn't need an umbrella.

busy ass day part 2

since my mother got home much later than she thought she was going to last night, i didn't end up going to the store. so, that turns today into one giant clusterfuck.

i might have enough food to feed the cats this morning before i go to the doctor, might not. that should be interesting. regardless, after the trip to the doctor, we have to go to the tractor supply store to get cat food and then to the grocery store to pick up medicine and our food. and since today is the only dry day for the foreseeable future, i then need to get back here and start mowing the grass. i imagine that is going to take the rest of the hours that the sun is up. i'm really hoping i get it done by then as it is supposed to start raining again tonight.

now imagine my stress if i don't have enough to feed the cats this morning and have to squeeze that in after the trip to the grocery store. oh, and i need to figure out when i'm going to eat today. good times.

the only thing i plan on watching this evening is the Yankees vs. Red Sox. if i miss most of it because it took me so long to get the grass cut, so be it. given who is pitching for the Yankees, i probably won't want to watch anyway.

i was not upset when the USA lost to Germany yesterday, 1-0. mostly because CR7 scored for Portugal to ensure that the USA would be advancing. and seeing that it was the first time ever they have advanced out of the group stage in back to back World Cups is HUGE. and, none of the soccer experts in this country had them getting out of the group of death. that was great to see them eating some crow last night. now, the real fun begins.

to recap the scores from yesterday, Germany won 1-0. Portugal beat Ghana 2-1. Belgium (with 10 men) beat South Korea 1-0. Algeria and Russia played to a 1-1 draw. a HUGE draw for Algeria. that means the USA plays Belgium and Germany plays Algeria in the next round.

that sets up the knockout round. here is the bracket...

i have Brazil beating Argentina in the finals, mostly because i don't have the guts to pick something else. i do have the USA upsetting Belgium. that's the only real upset i see happening. i almost chose the Netherlands to make it to the finals... almost. i did pretty well in the group stage, got 3 groups completely correct and at least had 1 team right in all of the groups. yes, i'm playing fantasy soccer, get over it.

the knockout games start tomorrow with Brazil vs. Chile and Colombia vs. Uruguay. those two games should be fun.

i did watch Big Brother last night. not sure what to think of the cast this season. as long as i am entertained, i really don't care. it will be interesting to see how the twists play out over the course of the season. i'm not sure many of the players are smart enough to know what is going on at all most of the time.

i also watched the NBA Draft last night. i only watched it to put a bow on the college basketball season. of course, i would have needed to watch the European leagues to know many of the players.

that's all for today. i need to get some breakfast in me and scrounge the bottom of the barrel for some cat food. i really don't want to feed these fuckers in the afternoon while i should be mowing. i've got parts of the lawn that is over 12 inches high. this will not be fun.

hope everyone has a great start to the weekend. hopefully you have some great weather and free drinks to enjoy.

be well. be creative. be a nuisance. be helpful. be a shining light of destruction and mayhem.

peace and chicken grease.

and the busy ass day begins

how the hell is the day of rest my busiest? so much shit going on today it is ridiculous. on with the show...

the Yankees got their asses handed to them yesterday, 6-1. it was like batting practice for the Orioles. today is the rubber match and it is also Old Timer's Day. so, there will be swimming with nostalgia here in a bit. and then, Tanaka takes the mound. hopefully i will be drinking a victory beer this afternoon.

the World Cup yesterday was thrilling and CRUEL. Argentina beats Iran 1-0 on a Messi goal in the 91st minute. CRUEL. Nigeria beats Bosnia-Herzegovina 1-0 on some shitty officiating and a huge save late. CRUEL. Ghana and Germany played to a 2-2 draw that was absolutely thrilling to watch. and this opens the door for today.

Belgium plays Russia, who cares. Algeria plays South Korea, who cares. USA plays Portugal. if the USA wins today, they advance to the knockout round. they will also take the lead in the group of death. and they will also shut up a ton of fuckers all around the world. needless to say, i will be glued into that game, intense as i was in the Stanley Cup Final. hopefully, i will be celebrating around 8 pm this evening.

after watching ROH last night, i am definitely tempted to order their first PPV tonight. thankfully, it starts after the USA game. chances are, i will be watching some wrestling this evening.

after that gets over, i'll try to fit in my Sunday night shows... Nurse Jackie, Californication, Penny Dreadful, and Last Week Tonight. looks like it is going to be a late one for me.

i still need to pick up the trash, sweep some floors, clean some toilets, do the dishes, feed the cats and pray for some dry weather so i can mow the grass before it gets over a foot tall.

now breathe.

hope everyone is having a great weekend. hope it finishes well for you.

be well. be creative. be understanding. be the fire that never goes out.

until tomorrow my lovely friends and enemies...

been waiting 4 years for this day

today is a day for revenge. today is a day i wish i was in Brazil. today is a day where the USA begins the journey to shock the world. i have waited 4 years to watch them have a chance to get back at Ghana for knocking them out of the last 2 World Cups. and, if they want ANY chance of getting out of the group of death, they MUST win today.

needless to say, i will be a little wired for today's game.

starting off the action today will be the juicy affair between Portugal and Germany. and before the USA plays, Iran takes on Nigeria. should be (hopefully) a great day.

yesterday was some great games at the World Cup. Switzerland scored the latest goal ever in group play (20 seconds left in the 93rd minute) to defeat Ecuador 2-1. France beat Honduras 3-0. helps that Honduras was down to 10 men for the entire second half. Argentina was sort of blah for most of the game, and then Messi had a moment of magic. Argentina wins 2-1. they will need to play much better to get to where they want to get to in this World Cup.

the Yankees decided they wanted to end their road trip early and basically didn't show up for most of the game yesterday in Oakland. they eventually lost 10-5. they were down 6 by the third inning. thank god i didn't waste much time on that game. they are off tonight.

i didn't watch much of the NBA Finals last night either. i didn't miss much.

the shows last night were excellent. Nurse Jackie was great. Californication reminded me that i have no adult friends that live near me. Penny Dreadful was spectacular last night. one of the best episodes of the season. Last Week Tonight had me laughing the entire 30 minutes. can't wait to next week.

tonight, the soccer should be over in time for me to flip to Monday Night Raw. and then, at some point tonight i'll try to catch Louie. this might be the season finale, not sure. haven't been keeping track. hopefully i will be watching while having some victory beers.

gave mom her birthday gifts this morning. she loved them, as i hoped she would.

the weather is supposed to get oppressive here this week. temps in the 90's with humidity. oh joy. i guess i'll find out this week how dumb the cats really are. and hopefully the air conditioner doesn't go out.

that's all for me today. i made it through all of yesterday without writing about my father. mission accomplished.

hope this finds everyone well. enjoy the day.

will this cold front move the fuck on already...

just imagine the fucking joy of waking up with your back screaming after only 3 hours of sleep. good times.

it never fails with my life. if my sports teams are doing well, there will be some boulder in my personal life that will undoubtedly fall. and the opposite is true as well. so i was checking my email last night after the Yankees won again and there was an unexpected email from a former girlfriend. she wanted to know if i was going to the festivities planned for our 20th high school reunion. given that this email was the first i had heard of anything, i told her my best guess was no. then, feeling slighted for the ten thousandth time since i graduated, i did a little digging on the internet. i found some dates and that the money was supposed to be in a week ago or so. but, did i find the actual amount of money needed or what was actually planned? no. much like it was in high school, i was only part of the cool kids when i had drugs and alcohol. so, i hope they have fun over Labor Day weekend. i imagine i'll be busy mowing grass.

the Yankees got the sweep last night in Seattle, winning 6-3. got another great pitching performance from Chase Whitley and amazingly, Derek Jeter showed some life once again last night. they play again tonight in Oakland. not sure they will have the same great results there.

i didn't watch much of the NBA Finals last night as the game was never close. i don't give Miami much of a chance down 3-1. especially when they would have to win 2 of those games in San Antonio.

the New York Rangers play a MUST WIN Game 5 tonight against the Kings. considering they should have won the first 2 games out there, i have a little confidence in them tonight. if Lundqvist can play on his head again, i'll have even more confidence. i'll be glued to that game tonight. and unfortunately, i'll have the shaving shit ready in case they lose. but i'm not ready to get rid of the playoff beard just yet.

i did watch Brazil beat Croatia 3-1 yesterday in the World Cup. talk about some shitty officiating. Brazil did not play good at all for most of the match. Croatia certainly deserved at least a point out of that match. and Brazil will have to be MUCH better if they actually want to win it all. today will start off with Mexico vs. Cameroon. the late match will be Chile vs. Australia. but the middle match is the juicy match of the day. Spain vs. Netherlands. considering that Manchester United's new coach is the coach of the Netherlands, i'll definitely be interested in that one. plus, it's a rematch of the finals of the last World Cup. should be another interesting day.

i'm hoping to get out to feed the cats before all that begins today. i believe my cat Whitey's kittens are just about ready to be unleashed upon the other cats. one escaped where she had them yesterday and was playing around in the other barn with the adult cats. Whitey did not look pleased at all. i laughed as hard as i could.

that's all for today. unless something fucking crazy happens or i get something published, i'm not planning on being on here until tomorrow morning.

hope everyone has a great weekend. be well. be creative. be loud. be proud. be drunk. be willing to realize your mistakes tomorrow.

peace...

now or never

tonight is Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final. deep down in my soul i truly believe the Rangers will play with the urgency needed to win. now, i've thought that for the first 3 games as well and they haven't had one puck bounce their way. they need to score first tonight and let the crowd get behind them big time. the last thing any Rangers fan wants to see is another fucking team skating the cup around on our home ice. i'm trying to have nothing but positive thoughts for tonight, but, as many of you know about me, that's damn near impossible.

the Yankees FINALLY got a clutch hit when they needed one and won last night, 3-2. Tanaka pitches tonight, so they might actually win a series for a change. i'll turn that on after the hockey game is over.

i thought Deadliest Catch was pretty good last night. it was good to see one of the old boats back in action. hard to believe i've been watching that show for 10 years or so.

i did catch bits and pieces of the Spurs blowout win last night in Miami. i was a little shocked by it, but, this is what happens when one team doesn't play any defense at all. you dig yourself too big of a hole and then spend all your energy trying to get out of it. that's a recipe for losing.

it's been rainy here all day long. my back has been barking since i woke up. not fun.

glad to see the mail i sent to Sweden arrived today. at least something still sort of works in this country.

the World Cup starts tomorrow. i will be glued to that for most of the games. definitely for any games involving the USA or Manchester United players. hopefully it will be an entertaining few weeks.

happy birthday to my first true crush. i know you'll probably never see this, but i hope you are doing well.

that's all for me today. i'll be on here tomorrow early in the afternoon, maybe even the morning. before all the World Cup festivities begin.

hope this finds everyone well. until we meet again my enemies...
