had some storms last night...

we had some pretty strong storms come through the area last night. thankfully, no tornado warnings this time, but there was quarter-size hail in some places. the worst here was it knocked out the satellite feed for 20 minutes or so.

the New York Yankees lost last night at the Angels, 4-3, in 10 innings. it would be nice to see them win tonight, but i'm not holding my breath.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be NXT, Deadliest Catch, Don't Forget the Lyrics and Dark Side of the Ring. i'll watch Hot Wheels: Ultimate Challenge tomorrow on Peacock.

i guess Manchester United is finally starting to make some signings... they play a preseason friendly tomorrow morning against Lyon in Scotland.

i am looking forward to finally getting my eyes checked again. i'm hoping this place in town is better than the place i went to for years. at least so far, it is much better. more on that tomorrow.

i should be on here tomorrow after i get the grocery shopping done.

until then kids...

it rained all damn day and night...

we had over 2.3 inches of rain yesterday. by the time i got done with the dishes last night, my back felt like a fucking elephant had decided to sleep on it. i ended up having to sleep in my massage chair last night. i got a whopping 3 hours of sleep. joy.

the Yankees whipped Boston yesterday, 13-2. they go into the All Star break with the most wins of any Yankees team ever, 64.

so the rain last night fucked with all the shows i was recording. that made for a frustrating night.

i did watch the best named rivalry game in soccer, Hell is Real, which is the name for the Columbus Crew vs. FC Cincinnati derby. Columbus won last night, 2-0.

i did watch a few other MLS games yesterday as well.

Big Brother was good last night. Pooch has to be a fucking idiot. who the fuck volunteers to go up on the block?

Westworld was fucking great last night.

The Chi was excellent last night.

Flatbush Misdemeanors was pretty funny last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Monday Night Raw, Miz & Mrs, Don't Forget the Lyrics and The Captain.

i will probably watch some of the MLB Home Run Derby tonight. mostly to see if it runs long so then i would have to adjust what time i record The Captain, the new ESPN documentary about Derek Jeter.

i did listen to episode 404 of Notsam Wrestling this morning. you can hear that by going here:

so, i did send out 5 poems today to Synchronized Chaos. when i hear back from Cristina, i will pass along the verdict.

so, mom finally decided that she wanted to update the main bathroom here in the house. i feel really comfortable with the company she is going with. and if it turns out the way i think it will, it should be an incredible upgrade to what we have.

the USWNT takes on Canada tonight in the finals of the CONCACAF women's championship. since i don't have Paramount+, i won't be able to watch the game tonight. i will follow it somehow on my phone though.

i should be on here tomorrow after i take mom to her doctor's appointment.

i hope everyone had a great weekend.

apparently, the next few days will be like hell...

i always love when the heat index hits somewhere around 100 and the humidity is slightly more crispy than fucking hell. that is basically the next few days here. can't wait to do the grocery shopping in this shit tomorrow.

the New York Yankees did get rained out last night, so they will play a doubleheader today against Tampa. i would love to see the Yankees win both games.

NXT was really good last night.

Big Brother was good last night. hopefully the casual viewer is now up to speed with all the assholes in the house this season. i do hope the blindside happens tonight and Cliff is the one voted out. that should be a big shit storm if that happens.

Snowfall was fucking brilliant last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Baskets, Holey Moley, Big Brother and Desus & Mero.

i wrote 5 poems last night. i typed them up around 2 in the morning. i really think they are good. i'd love to write some more and then get another batch of submissions ready before the end of the month.

i might have got almost 3 solid hours of sleep last night. i had a hard time finding a comfortable spot for my right arm for most of the time. i always know when i see pillows on the floor that all i did was toss and turn for most of the night. good times.

i will probably be on here tomorrow after the trip to the grocery store. i'm hoping to get that done early in the morning, you know, sometime before it hits 100 degrees outside.

it currently feels like 92 here. in a few hours we start our excessive heat warning. that will last until Saturday night. joy.

that's all for me kids. until tomorrow...

depression makes some beautiful art

whenever i fall in love with someone, it's always a hard landing it seems. and since my luck seems to be few and far between, long distance relationships are usually the norm. so, i suppose having one with a woman in Italy was simply seeking to punish myself. i'm not quite buying a shitty phone as why there has been no communication from her end in the last 2 days. perhaps i'm naive, but i would think if the phone was bad but you did have access to email, you might send an email to the one you supposedly love and let them know what's going on, etc. of course, i'm notorious for simply asking for too much.

so depression came to set up camp sometime this morning. and when love is involved, oh the depression gets about as fucking deep as possible. now, since i have roughly 40 years of experience with depression and haven't been abused by mind altering drugs from doctors, i can still function to a pretty high degree while just morbidly fucking depressed. i wear it like a long sleeve shirt in the summer. sure, it's uncomfortable, but would you rather be fat and naked?

i put on some music today and just started to write. i have found over the years that writing is more useful than the fucking tears. i wrote 5 poems today. i really like them. i may even dare to call them brilliant. of course, my ego may need a little stroking to go that far. i do plan on doing another round of submissions in the next week or so.

Smackdown was really good last night. it was so much better than Monday Night Raw this week.

205 Live was really good last night as well.

The Jim Jefferies Show was fucking hilarious last night.

Fuck That's Delicious was really good last night.

Deadliest Catch was crazy last night, especially the fucking ending.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Big Brother and Lucha Underground. i'll watch NXT sometime tonight on WWE Network.

i did watch a little bit of the MLB All-Star game last night. the AL won in 10 innings, 8-6 over the NL.

i think i'm going to spend a good portion of tonight icing down my back. mom spilled some of what was in the shredder today as she was trying to dump it into the trash. that was not fun to clean up.

remember last week or so when i said mom had grown frustrated and was just going to start having me do the cooking and cleaning, etc. of course, that lasted about a day or so. and i don't know who is at fault more, her for being stubborn or me for allowing it.

i'll be on here tomorrow after a trip to the post office. my massage chair has an appointment with me here soon.

frustration, my old friend

the internet was going in and out this morning. plus, my arthritic hands and the mouse and the keyboard weren't working together at all. it took me over 2 hours to get all the poems out. that's the problem with the hot days where i live. there's nothing for anyone to do other than sit inside and stream music or porn or play games for hours on end. and people wonder why there is a heroin problem here.

so here's the details on the poems. i sent out 33 poems today. 3 each to Pink Litter and Mad Swirl. 5 each to Duane's PoeTree, Winedrunk Sidewalk and Over The Transom. 6 each to Anti-Heroin Chic and Rose Red Review. when i hear back from these places, i will pass along the verdicts.

the New York Yankees lost last night in Minnesota 4-2. they had plenty of chances to win the game but could never string together clutch hits to get the job done.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night. i had no clue where they were going with the Kurt Angle revelations, but i do see plenty of upside by saying Jason Jordan is his long lost son. it's crazy enough to actually work.

Manchester United won last night, 2-1 over Real Salt Lake. they started off poorly and was actually trailing at one point. thankfully, they took the lead in the first half. then, they got a good dose of working their asses off when they went a man down for the last 30 minutes or so. they play again on Thursday.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Smackdown, Deadliest Catch and The Jim Jefferies Show. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on WWE Network.

mom wanted to get her haircut today, so i took to where we both go this afternoon. she used her cane going in. that's the first time she hadn't used the walker in a pretty long time. i could tell it's going to take her some time before she's comfortable without the walker.

i've got the trash already picked up, so now all i need to do is figure out what the fuck is for dinner.

technology and i have never been best friends

so, i was watching my shows last night when i noticed the shows on Showtime didn't record. i turned to the channel and it was just a black screen. so, instead of just figuring out how to reboot the system myself, i contacted DirecTV. big mistake. once i rebooted the main receiver, Showtime came back on. and then, 2 minutes later, i had something pop up on the screen saying i was using more locations than allowed. 3 techs later, i was told this happened because the main receiver wasn't picking up the other mini receivers. i asked if it had anything to do with the reboot and they said no. i laughed, as this was the first time this has ever happened. so, after fucking around with everything for almost 60 minutes, everything was back to normal. of course, this also meant if i was going to watch the shows now, i was going to be up past 3 AM. i'm a sucker for pain. i used to love DirecTV but quite frankly, ever since AT&T got involved, straight downhill.

i enjoyed all the shows last night. Big Brother was pretty funny, as paranoia is finally settling in at the house.

The Night Of was great. i love a show with a good slow build. Ballers was good. Vice Principals was fucking hilarious.

Power was fucking great. Ray Donovan was crazy. Roadies was really good once again.

the New York Yankees amazingly won last night, 3-1, avoiding the sweep to Boston. they start a series tonight at home against Baltimore. if they lose this series, i have to think they will start trading off players.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

nothing on the DVR tonight as i will be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.

i did listen to the latest Sam & Cathy podcast this afternoon. very funny as usual. you can find it by going here: https://soundcloud.com/samrobertsshow/sam-cathy-020-back-to-cali

it was raining when i woke up this morning. nothing quite like pain after 3 hours of sleep. i've tried to get my back to loosen up for most of the day. no luck. i hope my mother is ready for the bitching when she gets home.

i was a little shocked at the trade the New York Rangers made today. i hate to see Derick Brassard leave, but they are getting someone back that is younger, cheaper, and i think just as good. that should open up the money to sign the rest of the restricted free agents and gives them an extra second round pick next year to help get younger. enjoy your time in Ottawa Brassy, you were always a good one. welcome to the team Mika Zibanejad.

i do encourage all of you to take advantage of the Punk Chapbook Series. $40 for 12 books is a fucking steal. and honestly, and i'm not saying this because i'm included, it's a great list of writers involved. for more info, go to: http://www.epicrites.org/

so i read more about the shooter yesterday in Baton Rouge. i'm curious if this country is ever going to have a conversation about mentally ill veterans anytime EVER. given the fact that my father was in Vietnam and died of Dementia, i have a pretty good background on this shit. and honestly, if we are really fucking serious about stopping mass shootings and whatnot, the first thing we have to fix is the mental health system. if that doesn't get fixed, it won't fucking matter what gun laws you change or what barriers you put up to stop this shit from happening. of course, we won't have that discussion about mental health because no one wants to accept the blame for fucking over generation after generation of people who gave the ultimate sacrifice for this country.

i hope everyone had a great weekend.

the deadly heat

when i went out to try to kill a squirrel eating on the bird food this morning, i noticed that it was already the air you can wear. this was at 9 in the morning. i can just imagine what it is going to feel like this afternoon when it's supposed to get up into the 90's. thankfully, i will be inside. my best friend Paul is coming over today to watch the Gold Cup game after he gets off of work.

Manchester United won 1-0 last night over Club America. i thought for it being the first friendly of the new season, the team looked good enough. i don't think anyone got injured last night, so that's a plus. Morgan Schneiderlin scored the only goal. LVG said he wants to buy two more players. if they are the right ones, i think this could be a dynamic year for the club.

Treehouse Masters was really good last night. as was NJPW.

the New York Yankees got the second half of the season off to a good start last night, winning 4-3. A-Rod homered in the bottom of the 7th for the difference in the game. this gives the Yankees their biggest lead in the division all season. they play again this afternoon.

i heard back from Raw Dog Press yesterday. they passed on the poems i sent. that ticked me off a bit as i wrote the poems with that press in mind. i'll have to do some hunting to find publishers that want poems that are 7 lines or less.

we actually made it back from the grocery store yesterday before the storms hit. i was shocked.

enjoy some music, some humor, some food and some art you fuckers:

team USA plays a Cuba team today that is missing players. hopefully that means they will win this game "easily" and advance to the semifinals of the Gold Cup.

today is really going to just be trying to beat the heat and hopefully enjoying some victory beers. other than ROH tonight, i have no clue what i'll be watching. most likely i will be helping mom put up stuff around the house. or i'll trick Paul into doing that. probably not.

i hope everyone has a great Saturday. enjoy the sun, some drinks, a hot fuck in the air conditioning and maybe a nice cigar afterwards. or maybe a glass of wine. just don't pass out and piss your pants. thankfully, i was alone when that happened. and it was a little more than number 1. let's just say that set of bedding is buried in a dump somewhere now. but, i did figure out that i was lactose intolerant. file this under how The Big Lebowski helped save my life.

once again, enjoy the visual.

cranky

so i woke up in the middle of the night. i checked the clock and it said 4 AM. fuck that was the first thing i said. i went back to sleep and woke up again around 8 AM. i was hoping to see my mother out this morning, as she had to drive to Cincy for a meeting and hates to make that drive. (she called and made it fine and on time). i had a bill i had to pay so i figured after the post office, i would get some breakfast. and since this is my life, 20 minutes later i was on the toilet shitting out, what felt like, a month of food. enjoy that visual. needless to say, i've been a little cranky ever since.

i did watch Big Brother last night. was happy to see Devin leave. i laughed at how the producers made the dummies watching think there was a chance of it not happening. poor souls. now the fun can begin.

i also watched the new comedies on FX last night. Married was pretty good. had a few funny lines. also, Jenny Slate is in it, who i adore, mostly because she looks like a crush i had in high school. the other show, You're the Worst, was fucking awesome. perfectly written, crass, with enough sex to keep any pervert interested. i HIGHLY recommend it.

tonight, the baseball season starts back up. the Yankees are at home against the Reds. the two teams of my youth battling it out. hopefully, i'll find something better to watch.

mom casually mentioned last night that she's thinking of going on vacation the first week of August. what really surprised me is she wants me to go along. i don't think i have been on a vacation in almost 20 years. i'd love to just get in the car and start driving and wherever we end up is cool. but, i also know that is not how my mother operates. so i spent a good portion of today checking out festivals and whatnot for possible things to do that week. i'll keep all 2 or 3 of you that read this updated on what might happen that week. i do have a couple of cameras now, so i'll get some pictures.

i had to clean the bamboo floors today. that was long overdue.

looks like the rain clouds are moving in right now. great. that should make my back feel wonderful.

that's all for me. i do hope everyone has a great weekend. if anyone has any vacation ideas, feel free to send them to me.

too good to be true

so the other day my artist friend from Sweden said that he missed my rants on Frontier Communications. i laughed and said they hadn't fucked up here lately but i was sure they would show their true colors around the holiday shopping season. funny, just 2 days later and the internet was out for almost 9 FUCKING hours today. it just came on a little but ago. i guess it was out all over the area as it was out in town as well. around 8 tonight i asked mom if she thought anyone actually told Frontier that it was out to begin with. she laughed and called just in case. thankfully it's back on tonight.

so, to waste time today i've had a couple glasses of wine, carried some shit in for my sister (she's down for the weekend), watched a little college hockey and listened to some music. right before the internet went down i posted some pictures i took today. 24 of them to be exact. my sister joked that i crashed the internet myself. who knows, she could be right. here are my favorites from today. the rest of them can be seen on my Google+ page or in the slideshow on the right hand side of this blog. enjoy.

The Big Bang Theory last night was fucking hilarious. i love the writing on that show.

my kicker paid off for me last night in fantasy football. i'm up by 12 points in both matches.

i also wrote a poem today that had been swimming in my head for almost a week. hopefully that opens the floodgates.

big sports weekend kicks off tomorrow. Manchester United in the morning. Ohio State in the afternoon, which i will miss most of because i will be at the Red and Blue game for the University of Dayton basketball program. i can't wait to see how the new players look.

not sure when i will actually blog tomorrow. i'm guessing in the evening. hopefully it will be after a few victory beers.

hope everyone has a great weekend. and hopefully your internet service provider is better than the piece of shit service provider i have.

another day in the heat

just another miserable day out here on the farm. the sun has been relentless. at least most of the animals have been smart enough to stay in the shade and drink some water. of course, overnight i had three bird feeders get fucked with. at least nothing was broken.

i didn't do much last night other than try to enjoy being able to get online again. i watched most of Big Brother, telling my mother what really happened and how CBS likes to edit the show to keep with their story lines, not what is actually happening. and then i started watching Duck Dynasty. and like a dumb ass, i completely forgot that The Bridge was on last night. so, i will be staying up tonight to watch it at 2 in the morning. fuck, i need a DVR soon.

the internet has been a little spotty today. mostly due to the fact that all these children stay indoors and stay online all day long. as one tech put it to us, we're at the end of the line. we get whatever broadband is left. it makes for so much fun in the afternoons and after midnight as i imagine most of those kids are looking at porn after their parents have gone to bed.

i'm being slightly entertained with the silly season and Manchester United. plenty of rumors for me to laugh at. i wouldn't mind if they signed someone soon though. i'm getting a touch restless.

with another guy going home tonight on Big Brother, i really hope someone unexpected wins HOH so maybe a girl goes home next week. that show will be like nails on a chalkboard if it's just the women left.

and of course, my laughs for the evening will be with Wilfred on FX. i love that show.

if i'm not too tired come morning, i'm going to try to get some poems together to send out. just 2 submissions at the moment. i've got a little more time than i thought on the third submission. that will allow for some other editors to get back in touch with me and perhaps change what i'll be sending out. of course, i wouldn't mind if everything i sent out gets accepted and i have to write some new ones quickly. (like that's going to happen)

that's pretty much all for today. here's hoping you are cool wherever you are...

music today:

Joan Jett & The Blackhearts - Fit To Be Tied
