if it only could be like this every day. 70, a light breeze, peaceful and calm.
so, i know baseball season is getting close, mostly because the Yankees are already beset with injuries. fuck me.
a delightful trip into the dark mind of an evil genius or simply the musings of an asshole

i took a shower last night and my pain was at a level where i knew i needed to sleep in my massage chair with ice just about everywhere. i got close to 4 hours of sleep. ok, not bad. i got a few naps this morning before i had to go to the eye doctor. i let her know that i really haven't noticed much of a change with my eyes. well, the exam showed something different. there was enough of a change that she said i needed new glasses. oh joy. the woman working with me to find the new glasses was excellent. i told Emily my concerns with the ones i currently have and she brought back 6 different ones that fit me great. so, i tried them all and decided on two that fit the best that would be my new glasses and new sunglasses. the second pair would be 50% off, which i was happy about. so, after adding up everything and the co-pay for the exam and everything... $1,100.50. well, fuck me. the first thought i had while pulling out my credit card was i wonder how much i could get for a kidney. as i told my mother when i got back home, i believe i am at the point of life where i need to have the financial discussion of does it make more sense to live or die. i should have the new glasses in 2 weeks.
i also got a new phone case today. my old one was falling apart. thankfully, the new one is really simple and durable. and about $30 cheaper than the one i had before. joy.
the Yankees lost last night at Texas, 10-6. they are off tonight and start a series tomorrow at the Cubs. the Cubs by the way threw a combined no hitter last night. great.
so, before i get to my 2 hour adventure in the grocery store today, let me tell you about my trip to the eye doctor yesterday. this was my first time to this eye doctor. they recently took over where the old CVS in town was so the place looks very new. all the equipment looks brand new, so that gave me some hope that this experience was going to be completely different than the last 15 years or so at the eye doctor. and it was. i did love how the doctor was very attentive to my questions and really seemed to listen. i loved that she showed me this is how your vision is with your current prescription and this is it with the new prescription. wow, what a difference. i should get the new glasses and sunglasses in a couple of weeks. now, to that part. i picked out frames before my appointment online and that saved a ton of time. all told, with all the other fees and everything, it was $895 for both of the glasses. i got a call from the eye doctor this morning and i guess the lady that rang up my bill forgot to charge me for the frames of the sunglasses. so, with the 40% off that i got from my insurance for the sunglasses, i guess i still owe $114. now, the lady that made the mistake was so apologetic this morning, which was a breath of fresh air to be honest. they told me i can just pay the balance when i come in to get the new glasses. all in all, i'm pretty happy i made the change.
so, today mom gave me a scroll for the grocery list. 2 stores, nearly 3 hours of shopping and a little over $250 later, i got everything on the list. i have never been so fucking tired after grocery shopping in my life. it was fucking humid as fuck today on top of it. i guess mom wanted to feel like she is in a restaurant and can have anything she wants at any time. joy.
the New York Yankees lost last night at the Angels, 5-1. hopefully, they will not get swept tonight, although it seems like they are determined to just be a last place team this season.
we had some pretty strong storms come through the area last night. thankfully, no tornado warnings this time, but there was quarter-size hail in some places. the worst here was it knocked out the satellite feed for 20 minutes or so.
the New York Yankees lost last night at the Angels, 4-3, in 10 innings. it would be nice to see them win tonight, but i'm not holding my breath.
nothing like starting off the day with some pouring rain. not exactly what i needed for my arthritis. add to that, i caught mom sleepwalking this morning. i was at the front window, checking to see if any of the trash had been picked up. i started to walk to the kitchen to take my blood sugar and there was mom in the hallway with her robe telling me hi. the first thing i said is where is your rollator. she turned around and walked back into her room and went back to sleep. when she woke a few hours later she had no clue why her robe was on her rollator and not hanging up like it normally is. i explained to her what she did. this should be a fun day.
the Yankees lost last night at home to Baltimore, 6-3. they will hopefully win the series when they play again tonight.
first off, i had a conversation with an old friend/lover last night. it is kind of shocking at times what happens when you don't hear from someone for a few months. glad you are still alive. we shall be meeting again soon.
so, my eye doctor's appointment went well today. my right eye is a little worse, but not bad enough to need new glasses. and my new insurance is certainly coming in handy. this appointment would usually cost me $45 or more in the past. today it was $29. the prescription i got from Rite Aid today was $12. it always cost me $30 when i got it at Kroger. so, i'm really fucking happy all the bullshit with my insurance seems to be figured out now.
the New York Rangers lost to Detroit last night in a shootout, 3-2. just one of those frustrating as fuck nights.
the trip to the eye doctor went fine today. they have this new black woman working there. holy shit, she's fine as hell. i thought they had all the safety protocols down pretty good. thankfully, i wasn't there long. the health of my eyes are good. the changes in my vision weren't enough to get new glasses, which was fine with me. i only had to pay $15 for the eye exam. i stopped by Rite-Aid on the way home hoping to find some baseball cards. no luck.
Monday Night Raw was crazy last night.
