and here we go...

i was hoping to have this blog done before the Manchester United game today against Liverpool. well, that didn't happen. oh well.

i did manage to write 3 poems last night for the book. i really like how i'm writing this so far. hopefully, it will stay that way.

a big thank you to everyone for checking out my latest poems published:

https://beatnikcowboy.com/2025/01/05/j-j-campbell-47/

Dayton lost at George Washington yesterday, 82-62. honestly, Dayton played like shit for most of the game.

the New York Rangers lost at Washington yesterday, 7-4. they play at Chicago today.

i did catch some of both NFL games last night.

AEW Collision was ok last night.

team USA defeated Czechia, 4-1, yesterday at the World Juniors. they will play Finland today for the gold. Finland defeated Sweden, 4-3 in OT.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be The Agency and Dexter: Original Sin. i might watch some of the Golden Globes tonight as well.

the New Orleans Saints play at Tampa Bay today. thankfully, this will be the last game of this season.

i'm not really looking forward to the snow later today. that being said, we have plenty of food, just in case.

amazingly, Manchester United and Liverpool are 0-0 at halftime.

i did have some fun on the phone yesterday. i'm hoping Katrine did as well.

i'm sure i will watch plenty of NFL games today and tonight.

i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. i hope your Sunday will be even better.

time for the playoffs...

the NFL regular season is finally over. now, it is time for the playoffs.

the New Orleans Saints won yesterday at home against Atlanta, 48-17. Atlanta fired their coach after the game. i know everyone is talking about the late touchdown the Saints scored, going against the play the coached called. now, i understand both sides of this argument. what truly pissed me off was the Saints head coach immediately threw his players under the bus in his apology to the Falcons. to me, if i was the owner, i would have fired him right there. how the fuck do you think any players want to come to New Orleans in free agency when the coach shows time and time again he doesn't have the players backs. the Saints are at the worst spot in the NFL right now, they are mediocre. 9-8, shitty draft pick, blah blah blah.

the Dayton Flyers won yesterday at home against UMass, 64-60. thank god i took Dayton on the moneyline.

The Curse was really good last night. the season finale is next week.

i did catch some of the Golden Globes last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Monday Night Raw.

the New York Rangers play tonight at home against Vancouver.

i will probably watch some of the national championship game tonight between Michigan and Washington. i'm torn a little bit. i'd love to see Michigan lose since i am an Ohio State fan. but, i'd win more money if Michigan wins.

Manchester United plays today at Wigan in the FA Cup. if United wins, i will have 14 of the 15 FA Cup games i betted on correct. a nice big fuck you to West Ham for that draw that would have possibly given me the 15 out of 15 (and roughly $400). of course, if United loses today, i really hope heads start to fucking roll.

i did write 3 poems late last night. that was encouraging, at least to me. i'm going to try to get some poems out late tonight.

i hope everyone had a great weekend.

a rainy start to the last day of the month...

i think it rained just about all night long. that surely explains why i woke up in pain. of course, it always makes me laugh. 4 hours of sleep.1 drink before bed of mostly Jack Daniels and a little soda. blood sugar is fucking fantastic in the morning. that's the DNA of an alcoholic right there boys and girls.

Saturday Night Live was pretty funny last night.

ROH was very good last night.

on the DVR tonight will be Axios, Allen v. Farrow, Last Week Tonight, Batwoman, Shameless, Desus & Mero and The Luminaries. the Golden Globes are on tonight, but i highly doubt i watch much of them.

Manchester United plays at Chelsea today. i would fucking love to see United win.

the New York Rangers play this afternoon at home against Boston. i'd love to see a repeat of the last game.

the New York Yankees start their spring training today against the Blue Jays. i have high hopes for the Yankees this season, but mostly, i would just love to see them stay healthy for a change.

i should be on here tomorrow after a trip to the bank and the post office. got some money from a friend wanting to buy some baseball cards. of course, the money came yesterday after the bank and post office was already closed.

numb to the pain anymore...

i have watched the New Orleans Saints lose so many heartbreakers over the years, i'm now fucking numb to the pain. so, when they lost to the Minnesota Vikings yesterday, i wasn't surprised. especially given that the Vikings committed pass interference on the game winning touchdown in overtime. that didn't piss me off, i'm used to the Saints getting fucked over on calls. what pissed me off was Sean Payton got conservative late in the 4th quarter, settling for the field goal to force overtime. it was so unlike him to do so, that i had that awful feeling in my stomach that the worse was coming. and sure enough...

the Seattle Seahawks won the other game yesterday, winning at the Eagles, 17-9.

the Dayton Flyers defeated Saint Joseph's yesterday, 80-67. Dayton did not play their best during the game. they battled foul trouble for most of it. but, good teams always find a way. they hadn't won at Saint Joseph's arena since January 29, 2000.

the World Juniors finished up yesterday. Canada came from behind to win the goal medal over Russia, 4-3. Sweden defeated Finland 3-2 to win the bronze medal.

i did watch most of the Golden Globes last night as i was doing my laundry.

Power was really good last night. loved the ending.

Ray Donovan was good last night.

Shameless was hilarious last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

nothing on the DVR tonight. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.

i did listen to the latest episode of Notsam Wrestling this morning. you can find that by going here:

i'm going to try to get some poems out tomorrow, so i should be on here after i get that done.

the time has come...

i was absolutely elated when the New England Patriots lost last night. at the very least, there will be a Super Bowl with someone different in it. and i do hope, one of those teams will be the New Orleans Saints. they play at home today against the Minnesota Vikings. hopefully, i will be a happy boy in a few hours.

both playoff games were excellent last night. i'm hoping both are today as well. in the second game today, Seattle is at Philadelphia.

Manchester United and Wolves finished 0-0 yesterday. that's a worst case scenario for both clubs as they now have to play the game again at Old Trafford.

the New York Rangers played better last night but lost in Vancouver, 2-1. i can't imagine that was a fun plane ride back to New York.

ROH was pretty good last night.

Austin City Limits was very good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Power, Ray Donovan and Shameless. i'll probably be watching the Golden Globes for most of the evening.

the Dayton Flyers play this afternoon at Saint Joseph's. i'm hoping Dayton beats the shit out of them and gets part 2 of the Philly curse over with. they haven't won at Saint Joseph's in almost 20 damn years.

the final of the World Juniors is today as well. Canada takes on Russia for the gold. that should be interesting. Sweden takes on Finland for the bronze medal.

mom got these new sheets for our beds at Christmas. that was like wrestling a motherfucker last night getting those on her bed. i guess my bed is up for today. joy.

i'm going to try to be on here in the morning tomorrow, before i take mom to her doctor's appointment. if not then, it will be after we get back home.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. i hope your Sunday is even better.

somehow my eyes are better this year

the eye doctor even seemed a bit surprised that my vision was actually a little better this year. he was very pleased that both of my eyes are in good shape and pretty much look the same as they did 5 years ago. hopefully, that stays that way, at least for a few more years.

the Golden Globes last night were good, if you could just forget the first hour or so.

the Dayton Flyers took Richmond behind the barn yesterday and beat the shit out of them. Dayton won 72-48. that's an excellent way to start the A10 season.

the New York Rangers continued their awful play yesterday, losing 5-0 to Arizona. i'm starting to wonder if the Lose for Hughes campaign is in full effect.

i did watch a good portion of both NFL playoff games yesterday. so the next round will be the Colts vs. Chiefs, Cowboys vs. Rams, Chargers vs. Patriots and Eagles vs. Saints. hopefully, the Saints will defeat the Eagles, just like in the regular season.

Ray Donovan was pretty good last night. the season finale next week looks like it will be crazy.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight. i'll watch Monday Night Raw for most of the night.

the end of the college football season is tonight. Clemson vs. Alabama for the national championship. i'm sure i'll watch a good amount of that as well.

i will be on here tomorrow after mom's doctor's appointment in the afternoon. i think i have to pick up some pills for her tomorrow as well.

i hope everyone had a great weekend.

like a punch to the gut

when the USA got down 2-0 to Finland last night, i was disappointed, but not overly worried. 3 minutes later when the USA had tied the game at 2, i thought for sure they were going to win. sadly, Finland scored with 1:30 left in the game. that was like a punch to the gut. as soon as Finland won the gold, i just changed the channel. i figured that was better than wallowing in misery. on the bright side, if there is one, that's 4 straight years for the USA to get a medal at the World Juniors. the only problem being silver is not a medal you win.

i did watch a good portion of each playoff game last night. neither result really surprised me. the Colts defeated the Texans and the Cowboys beat the Seahawks. the Cowboys will play the Saints if Chicago beats the Eagles today. the Colts will play the Chiefs next week. that means the game today between the Chargers and Ravens will be to see who goes to play New England.

ROH was pretty good last night.

Austin City Limits had Trombone Shorty on last night. it was excellent.

mom wanted pizza last night, for some reason. she decided to order a thin crust pizza from Pizza Hut. i picked it up, along with her chicken wings and breadsticks. the pizza was awful. of course, i lied and said it was fine. later on in the night, i think even mom realized she should have got something else. joy.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Ray Donovan. i figure i'll watch the Golden Globes for most of the evening.

the Dayton Flyers play at home today against Richmond. i'm hoping the boys get their A10 season off on the right foot.

the New York Rangers play this afternoon at the Arizona Coyotes. i should be back home by the time that game starts.

i know i have a trip to the eye doctor tomorrow. i will probably be on here after that is over.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. i hope your Sunday is even better.

the old man can still get it done

i could tell right away yesterday that Carolina was hell bent on stopping the New Orleans Saints from running the ball. thank god, Drew Brees accepted the challenge and was on fire for most of the game. other than the idiotic decision to go for it on 4th down in the 4th quarter, a decision that probably took a few years off of my life, the Saints did what they needed to do to advance in the playoffs. their 31-26 victory over Carolina earns them a date at Minnesota next Sunday.

the New York Rangers lost last night at Las Vegas, 2-1. they are now off on their bye week. they don't play again until Saturday afternoon. god willing they will get healthy during that time off.

i did watch the Golden Globes last night. i thought the monologue was pretty funny. i had no problem with most of the speeches. i did appreciate when some of the women did point out that not all men are pieces of shit. plus, i'm pretty sure Oprah is going to run for President.

Shameless was great last night.

The Chi was really fucking good last night. i highly recommend this show to everyone.

and now a little of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight and David Bowie: The Last Five Years. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.

i might watch some of the national championship game tonight between Alabama and Georgia. might.

i heard a song last night on Shameless and when i found it, let me just say i am now slightly obsessed with the band Cigarettes After Sex.

we got a good amount of freezing rain today. i haven't even bothered to venture outside yet to get the paper and mail.

i do think my new arthritis medicine is working better than my old one. i haven't been as miserable as normal today. that's a good sign i suppose.

i hope everyone had a great weekend. i'll be on here tomorrow after a trip to the store to get my medicine and some new eye drops.

today begins the march...

after so many seasons of mediocrity, i'm so happy the New Orleans Saints actually have a team this season that has a chance to be remembered forever. that march starts today at home against Carolina. the Saints will have to do a difficult thing today, beat the same team 3 times in a season. but, i fully believe they can do it. if the Saints do win today, they will play in Minnesota in the next round.

after watching the Dayton Flyers yesterday, i was so damn happy i didn't go to the game. what pisses me off about their 62-60 loss to UMass, a team that was playing without 2 of their starters, was the coach of UMass is the coach i wanted Dayton to hire to replace Archie Miller. hopefully everyone that sits around me understands now why i wanted him to be the coach. and the more i listen to Anthony Grant talk after games, the more i'm starting to believe my conspiracy. the administration simply needs the team to be good by the time the UD Arena transformation is done. they will gladly accept mediocrity as they continue to sell what's coming in the future. as much as i really hope that rosy future arrives like they want, what fucking happens when it doesn't? it's so fucking painful to watch this team play when there is an obvious disconnect between coach and players. it's like watching a NBA team that is stuck in the middle. not bad enough to get a great draft pick and not good enough to do anything in the playoffs. i do know one thing, if this shit continues, i know a certain family member that isn't going to keep paying for tickets.

Austin City Limits was great last night.

the New York Rangers won last night out in Arizona, 2-1 in a shootout. thank god for The King. he stopped 38 of 39 shots against the worst team in the NHL. basically, at one point, you could see Hank tell his teammates to get the fuck out of the way, he's doing it by himself. the Rangers play tonight at Las Vegas.

ROH was excellent last night.

NJPW was 4 matches from Wrestle Kingdom 12 last night. i truly enjoyed the matches, especially Omega vs. Jericho and Okada vs. Naito.

i did do a little poetry work last night. i'm pretty sure i know where my next 35 poems are going.

i guess i'm too bitter to be naive

i really have no clue why it took my uncle's family so god damn long to get him into hospice. was it that they were too fucking naive about cancer and death? were they so fucking selfish that they had to have him at home? it never made any damn sense to me, but it was never my place to say anything. so my uncle went to hospice yesterday. they cleaned him up and 10 minutes later he was dead. i figured his goal was to make it to Christmas and since he achieved that, it shouldn't be too long... the service is on Wednesday. i'm not looking forward to it. my uncle died without ever knowing what one his daughters did to me. now, i put that on my mother since she chose to not tell anyone about it. so, there's an ocean of feelings for me going into this one. i respected my mother's wishes of not telling him myself, but now i get to spend a funeral where the cousin that molested me will be just a few feet away. the stages of grief, they are all fucked up for me. i went a quarter century not being around my uncle, always thinking that my mother and father had told him why. and then to think that we moved next door to him so he could live out his final days around his sister. i have no fucking clue if we are staying here or not now. i was thinking in the car today that there's probably only 5% of me that's left that doesn't want to die. i have no fucking clue how much longer i can live for that 5%. and i know damn well Wednesday is going to be a shit show where i'm supposed to have a brave face on and not embarrass anyone or make a scene. it's not easy for me to swallow everything that has happened to me and pretend it never fucking existed in the first place. it's even harder when you know the people that are supposed to love you simply don't give a shit. and to think all i ever really wanted was for someone to say i'm sorry. nearly 35 years later, i doubt sorry fucking cuts it now. and when i've exhausted the poems about it, where the fuck do i go from there? so yeah, the funeral will be on Wednesday. i'll be highly medicated.

i thought The Golden Globes was pretty good last night. being a very liberal person, i enjoyed all the shots at the incoming king. i would say president, but i know better. i was really happy for Donald Glover. i thought Atlanta was a really amazing show. the two awards last night proved it.

The Affair was a bit of a holy fuck episode last night.

the football games went how i expected them to last night. next week's games should be better.

sure, i know Alabama is playing Clemson tonight for the national championship. if Ohio State was playing, i'd be watching. i suppose the football game will be on during commercials.

i did write 7 poems today, shocker. i certainly wasn't in the mood to type them up. maybe i'll do that later tonight.

i got the artwork i ordered from Etsy today. it's fucking awesome. here's a link to the shop:
https://www.etsy.com/shop/JamesLinckeCreations

i went to the grocery store this afternoon, mostly just to get out of the damn house. for most of the time i was in the store, i was sort of like a zombie. but then i happened to turn up an aisle and be behind this beautiful black woman wearing tight sweatpants. something about watching as ass shake that snaps you right out of being a zombie. yes, the poem is already written.

i will probably be on here tomorrow after Manchester United plays. and i will probably have some more poems written and all of them typed up (hopefully).

my mom is depressed, which i completely understand. as i wrote today, sometimes when we grow old we enter a perpetual state of grief. i'm only 40, so i don't know if there's any fucking way out of it yet.

well, that came out of nowhere

i started to watch the New York Rangers game last night and within a blink of the eye, they were down 2-0. i started thinking, well, at least i have other things i can watch. and so i did. now, i would check on the score every few minutes, but that stopped when Columbus was up 4-1. for shits and giggles, i decided to check back twenty minutes later and the score was 4-2. then i could hear mom say from the next room, as she gets the score updates on her phone, it was now 4-3. i resisted the temptation to flip to the game as the documentary i was watching was nearly over. and then i heard 4-4. i started to chuckle. the documentary ended and i flipped to the game and holy shit, the Rangers now had the lead 5-4. and there was just a few seconds left. i laughed. Columbus was so proud of their winning streak and now has lost 2 in a row. they had a record crowd there last night, which i guarantee included a few thousands of Rangers fans. that kind of victory is the perfect way to go into their bye week. hopefully in the time off they get some guys healthy and come back on fire.

the documentary i was watching was Bright Lights: Starring Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds. it was hilarious as much as it was somewhat sad. but, after watching it, it almost seems fitting that they died only 24 hours apart. they were kindred spirits. i highly recommend checking the documentary out.

the MTV Live Setlist performance from St. Paul & The Broken Bones was phenomenal. i hope the whole world one day understands how fucking great this band truly is.

ROH was excellent last night.

i couldn't sleep for shit last night. the scar tissue in my left foot was fucking with me the entire night. and then my mother told me this morning that my uncle is now in hospice. so, i figure that had something to do with it as well. at least i know he's going to die in a very humane way. i have no clue if my mom wants to go see him there or not. hopefully he's not in the same room my stepfather died in.

ladies and gentlemen, snow

i woke up at 4 in the morning and looked at my clock and said fuck you. thankfully, i was able to fall back to sleep and woke up again sometime around 9. when i sat up, my lower back started to scream in agony. i figured it had to be snowing. sure enough, it was. now i think it's only an inch or so. but with winds around 40 mph, things could get a little interesting out there. i figure once i get done with this, i'll be the lucky one to go out and get the newspaper. good times.

i did watch most of the playoff games last night in the NFL. it's scary to think the Bengals haven't won a playoff game since i was a freshman in high school. after watching them piss away the lead last night in the final minutes, it's easy to believe they may never win one again. as soon as they took the lead, i looked over at my mother and said, now watch them find a way to fuck this up. sure enough. i did pick both games correct. i've got Seattle and Washington today.

Austin City Limits was great last night. i really enjoy when a rapper plays with a live band. it makes the music much more dynamic. and quite honestly, i think Kendrick Lamar is one of the best in the world doing it at this moment.

ROH was spectacular last night. the main event alone was worth staying up for.
and i couldn't be happier with who won that main event either.

tonight's the night

the propane tank is full. the ice has been cleared off the sidewalks. the cats and birds have been fed and forgotten about. i'm effectively blocking the pain in my arm and back with adrenaline and hope. tonight's the night. i know there are only so many times in my life i get to watch the team i have rooted for since my birth to have the chance to go win a championship. to have it be the first one decided in a playoff, which makes it a "true" championship... priceless. there's also the little vow of mine if one of my teams wins a championship, this goatee i've been growing since the last championship will come off. the caveat of course is i will NEVER shave again. so, tonight has many, many consequences. here's the hype video Ohio State put out for the game. needless to say, i'm ready to run through a fucking wall:

hopefully tonight goes much better than yesterday did. Manchester United controlled just about all 90 minutes. they forgot to just keep it simple stupid and score. so, of course, they lost to a team they shouldn't have. they are still in the top 4, barely. i was beyond pissed for most of the rest of the day.

i did get to watch the episode of ROH i slept through. a great episode to start off 2015.

the NFL playoff games were good. i split on picking the games. i'm now 6-2 in the playoffs.

i watched a little bit of The Golden Globes. i did laugh at some of it. i did love Jeremy Renner's line about J-Lo.

the Sunday night shows were pretty good. Girls had a great ass eating scene and not much else. Togetherness i really liked. i think that show will be really good. Shameless was great, as usual. loved the nudity and flirting. House of Lies was good if you remembered last season. Episodes was pretty good. Total Divas was more mindless shit, though i wouldn't mind seeing the uncensored version of it.

other than the game tonight, i might check out Monday Night Raw and the Men in Blazers if the game is going bad for Ohio State. i know "Macho Man" Randy Savage is supposed to be announced for the WWE Hall of Fame tonight. hopefully they do that before the game starts. he's one of my favorites of all-time.

i had a horrible time falling asleep last night. between my bad back and this shitty weather, i might have got 3 hours at best. if Ohio State wins tonight, i doubt i will get that much.

i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow. it will be sometime before the New York Rangers game, i do know that.

i hope everyone had a great weekend. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

and here comes the ice...

another day, another threat of a winter storm. yesterday was a total fucking drain. by midnight i was just about comatose. so much to get to...

mom and i went to a home improvement store to look for some moving stuff; boxes, bubble wrap, etc. plus, she wanted to get some paint chips to get some ideas of what color she wants the foyer at the new house to be. while we were walking around, a guy asked us if we wanted a kid. he pointed to what i guess was his son, saying he was needy. i said no and laughed. i then turned to my mom and said how much you wanna bet that in 15 years that kid is murdering his father.

after that we went to lunch. we were seated close to a large group of people, i'm assuming a family. i have a habit of listening to all conversations while i'm in a public place. if you ever want to know how i come up with 60% of my poetry, you now know. it was a good lunch.

after that, it was to the grocery store. you would think the world was coming to an end. the store was fucking packed. we were in there for 2 fucking hours. we got everything we needed though, although somehow the bread my mom had in the cart never got rung up and didn't make it home with us. i guess the people behind us got it. we got back home and the groceries put away before missing too much of the football games.

both playoff games were good last night. i picked both correctly, which i'm a little shocked at. hopefully the games today are good as well.

the Dayton Flyers came out flat as hell last night. of course, given the traveling problems they had and the obvious tired legs, i gave them the benefit of the doubt. the game was tied at halftime. well, i don't know what they did at halftime, but it worked. Dayton beat the shit out of Fordham in the second half. it was like they couldn't miss. 25-25 at halftime turned into Dayton winning 76-58. here are some highlights from the game:

the New York Rangers finished off their California sweep with a 3-1 win over San Jose last night. they are simply on fucking fire right now. i'm a little amazed that only Rick Nash got selected to the All-Star game. i was hoping for more players since i will be at the game for the first time in my life. oh well. here are the highlights from the game:

i was completely in and out of Ring of Honor last night. i was so fucking tired. i'm going to try to catch some of what i missed later today. of course, that all depends if Manchester United takes care of business early.

Manchester United faces Southampton today. they are finally getting healthy, so i'm a little interested to see what the team looks like today. hopefully, it's a team that has full intentions of getting all three points.

other than the other two NFL playoff games today, all the Sunday night shows start back up. Girls, Togetherness (new show that i hope i like), Shameless, House of Lies, Episodes, and Total Divas. plus, the Golden Globes are on tonight. yet another night where i could use the DVR.

i still owe myself a victory beer from last night. so, i will definitely make use of that today. i have to get out to feed the cats before the weather turns to shit today. plus, i'm going to get the trash picked up but i'm not going to bother putting it out. with another storm coming, it will just end up all over the fucking place. this will become much easier at the new house when it's just a driveway and not a quarter mile lane to drive down.

that's all for me today. i hope everyone had a wonderful Sunday. make sure the girl you picked up last night is still alive and buy her breakfast you cheap fuck. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.
