it's just blood

i suppose if i was thinking, i wouldn't have started moving shit in the garage while wearing shorts. i cut myself while moving a filing cabinet. just a little cut on my leg. thankfully, the cold helped it clot pretty quickly. but, i got everything done in the garage, so the insulation should go smoothly on Friday.

the New York Rangers got obliterated last night by Pittsburgh 7-2. as soon as i saw the coach was starting the backup goalie again, i didn't watch past the first Penguins goal. i think the injuries have finally caught up to the Rangers when playing good teams. the boys take on Minnesota on Friday.

to cement a shitty night, i heard back from Rose Red Review on my poetry submission from October. apparently the poems were good but just didn't fit the direction of the issue. it's sort of like getting your pants down, teasing yourself and then deciding to go to sleep instead.

the season finale of Scream Queens was excellent.

the Tony Bennett special last night was much better than i thought it was going to be.

205 Live was excellent last night. Neville makes the show must watch.

Smackdown was off the charts great last night. i loved Renee Young slapping The Miz. making the world title match a triple threat next week is great, especially with Baron Corbin involved. add in some Becky Lynch trickery and all in all, it was a great show.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Lip Sync Battle, Total Divas and Lucha Underground. i'll watch NXT sometime tonight on WWE Network when i get home from the basketball game.

the Dayton Flyers take on Vanderbilt tonight at home. this a MUST win game for Dayton if they want to be playing in the NCAA tournament in March.

i'm going to the game with my sister which should be interesting. she's been with me at enough sporting events to know i'm a little bit crazy when it comes to this shit.

i did listen to the latest Jim Norton and Sam Roberts podcast today. i highly suggest you check it out. you can find it by going here: https://soundcloud.com/jimandsamshow/ep-006-tj-miller-nick-kroll-john-mulaney

i'm not exactly sure when i'll be on here tomorrow. expect something in the afternoon probably.

break out the shovel

the experts said we would get 1 to 3 inches of snow today. so when i went out to get the paper this morning, seeing the snow wasn't a surprise. now, when it was still snowing this afternoon and i needed to go next door to do the trash, that 1 to 3 was now up to around 5 inches of snow. great. so now i needed to break out the shovel and break a sweat. good times.

no heart attack while shoveling, so...

i really thought The Voice was pretty good last night. i think the final two will be between Sundance and Billy. i really want Sundance to win.

Monday Night Raw started off strong and ended strong last night. in between was roughly 2 1/2 hours of blah, except for the Sami Zayn segment with Mick Foley. both triple threat tag team matches last night were excellent. hats off to The New Day for setting the record for the longest reigning WWE tag team champions.

enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, the finale of The Voice, Scream Queens and Smackdown. i'll watch 205 Live on WWE Network sometime tonight.

the New York Rangers play tonight at home against Chicago. they are once again starting the backup goalie tonight. i believe we all know this is going to blow up in the coach's face at some point, hopefully tonight is not the night.

all the Christmas gifts i ordered are finally here. so now it's all about finding the right newspaper to wrap them with.

mom has a doctor's appointment tomorrow at the same time Manchester United is playing. i'm going to have to figure out a way to follow the game while sitting in the waiting room.

i will most likely do a blog after i get home. i know i have pills and more shit to get from the grocery store. it looks like the weather is only going to get worse the rest of this week. good times.

that's all for me today kids. my old ass needs a rest.

snowflakes in the air

when i went to the post office today, there was some snowflakes in the air. it definitely feels like December now.

everyone should check their mailboxes in the next few days. either a card or a mysterious envelope could be in there. if you didn't get one and feel you should have, send me an email with your mailing address. it's always possible i missed someone.

i listened to the latest Jim Norton & Sam Roberts podcast today. i highly recommend it. you can find it by going here: https://soundcloud.com/jimandsamshow/episode-003-laura-jane-grace-gary-busey

Total Divas was pretty funny last night.

NXT was pretty good last night. i could always watch Nakamura and Samoa Joe wrestle.

Lucha Underground was really good last night. i really enjoyed the chaos.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight and Life in Pieces.

the first half of the Manchester United game today put me to sleep. thankfully, the second half was better. i always felt like whenever Henrikh Mkhitaryan was going to score his first goal for United, it was going to be spectacular. today, i was finally right. it was a beauty. Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored late to make it 2-0. the win was enough to get United through to the knockout round in the Europa League. plus, it was their first win on the road in Europe in ages it seems like. they have a tough one this weekend in the Premier League against Tottenham, so i will definitely enjoy this one tonight.

the New York Rangers play tonight in Winnipeg. i will probably watch a little of that.

i'll probably also check out the NFL game tonight between Oakland and Kansas City.

i got myself a Christmas gift today. i wasn't going to turn down an autographed Ben Harper poster at 50% off.

i still haven't got that fucking poem out of my head yet. i'll try to make the drinks a little stronger tonight. that tends to get the engine going these days.

took mom out for a ride today. she needed to get some cash out of the ATM. on our way back, we saw the guy who farmed our land raking some leaves. i pulled over and put down mom's window. thankfully, it wasn't too fucking cold. he's doing well. mom always wanted to be able to sell the farm to him and his family, but it never worked out. we drove past the old farm on the way back home. i'm surprised there are any trees left.

that's all for me today kids. enjoy the little poem in the music titles.

bring on the weekend

i somehow managed to get nearly 6 hours of sleep last night. i doubt it was the beer, so maybe my body just decided to quit for awhile. thankfully, it looks like i slept through the little rain and snow we got overnight. i'm hoping there's nothing else for today, other than a little sunshine.

the New York Rangers defeated Washington, the officials, and the entire NHL review system last night 3-2. i'm tired of bitching about officials, so i won't bother you with it. i just want to point out how the fuck do you give a goal when no one to my knowledge has seen the clear video evidence of the puck over the line. i know it sounds like whiny bitching when i say the NHL screws the Rangers more than any other team in the league, but sadly, it's a fucking fact. thankfully, Derek Stepan shoved it up the entire league's ass when he scored in the 3rd period to win the game 3-2. that's a win over the best team in the NHL, on the road, with your backup goalie in net. i enjoyed the fuck out of that victory beer last night.

Treehouse Masters was pretty cool last night. not sure if i'd want a camouflage treehouse, but to each their own.

the interview with Jim Ross last night was really good. i grew up on Gordon Solie, so he'll always be my voice of wrestling, but Jim Ross runs a close second. it was pretty cool hearing him call some NJPW matches last night.

VICE was awesome as usual. i'm not sure i'll ever look at meat in the same way again. i doubt i'll stop eating it, but i'll certainly eat less of it now. and god willing, i'll be dead by the time the planet is out of water.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Saturday Night Live and ROH.

the Dayton Flyers play VCU tonight at home. VCU will win the league outright if they win. Dayton will get a share of the league title if they win. it's the final home game of the season and seeing that they have lost the last two at home, i'm really hoping to see a victory tonight.

after the game i imagine mom and i will go out to eat at Waffle House, we haven't been there for a few weeks it seems.

i got a cd in the mail today from The Mad Poet, a metal band out of Seattle. they sort of mix metal music with classical opera type music, sort of something like Nightwish. if you are interested in getting some FREE music, check out themadpoet.net

i listened to Sam Roberts' Show podcast with Jim Norton last night. if you need a good laugh, seek it out.

i will probably be on here tomorrow sometime after the Manchester United game. hopefully i will have nothing but good news to share.

i did type up the poems i wrote yesterday. i do believe there are a few winners in this batch as well. i'll probably get another round of submissions ready before March Madness truly begins.

i hope everyone has a great Saturday. call if you need bail money.

i really could use a nice long nap

i prbably didn't get to sleep until 3 in the morning. and sure enough, 6:30 AM and i'm coming down the stairs, wide awake. thankfully, the Yankees play a day game today, so i should have something to fall asleep to.

first off, i want to highly recommend to everyone Part 1 and Part 2 of The Jim Norton Show on VICE. you can find the show here: http://www.vice.com/the-jim-norton-show he interviews Dana White and Mike Tyson. if you have a sense of humor and don't mind some colorful language, this is a show for you. both parts are about 30 minutes and they absolutely fly by. truly well worth your time.

i changed up my plans last night and decided to watch all of the Manchester United game. thank god i did. Louis van Gaal changed the formation for the first time i can ever remember. i don't think i have ever seen United play with only 3 defenders. they won the game 7-0. what i was most happy about was how Ander Herrera played. he looked like the midfielder this team has needed for a decade now. of course, i don't want to get ahead of myself, but that was a fantastic debut. if this is what the team will play like under LvG, the glory days aren't that far away.

Big Brother was good last night. tonight should be Brittany leaving the house. Wilfred was great once again. i LOVE how this final season is going. The Bridge last night was great as usual. SoundClash was a mixed bag for me. i like the concept. i liked the final segment, when they brought elements of all 3 bands together to perform a song. what i didn't care for was most of the show. not a good flow at all. what i hope is the episodes will get better as the bands involved get better. of course, as i explained to my mother, this generation of people will be remembered for the acceptance of mediocrity. there were so many great bands in the 90's that didn't make it, but today would be stars simply because there are so many people that simply like everything. it boggles my mind. of course, these are the same people i'm trying to get to buy my poetry. so, i'm not going to shit on them too bad.

tonight i will be also watching Married and You're the Worst.

i listened to the newest podcast from Sam Roberts this morning. another one that i highly recommend. you can find it on iTunes, Stitcher, notsam.com, or on the right hand side of this blog.

the rain finally has passed through here. it is supposed to be rather nice today. all i really want is for it to dry out so i can mow grass tomorrow. plus, it would be nice if the humidity stays away for the next 2 days at least.

i realized around 10 or so last night that neither one of us went into town yesterday to get the mail. apathy is starting to sprout once again. i'm sure the box will be full today.

the Yankees won a rain shortened game last night, 2-1. once it started to rain and the grounds crew had problems with the tarp, i figured they would call the game. of course, it took nearly 2 hours for them to do that. best thing was that the bullpen wasn't used at all. they needed a night off for sure.

that's all for me today. i think i will probably break out the poems later this afternoon and decide where i'm going to send some work to. other than that, i'm hoping to take a nap.

be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me money. be ready to laugh at yourself.

peace and chicken grease...

the outside world still exists...

so, the temps got high enough today that i didn't need 5 layers to go outside. a few of the cats actually came out from their bunkers. and the winds subsided enough that it made sense to put the bird food in the feeders instead of on the ground.

my mother and i actually made it to the post office for the first time this week. i always love a full PO Box. and i was amazed that 3 days of newspapers were still in our box across the lane. and to fully escape the cabin fever, we hit the local sports bar we always go to. nothing like some mid day alcohol to lube the joints.

last night was a mixed bag for me. i was flipping between college basketball games and a forensic science special on PBS. usually, when i can't find anything i really want to watch, i will choose to educate myself.

tonight, the New York Rangers play in Chicago. as much as i would love to think the Rangers have a chance in this game, my brain tells me differently. i'll watch until it gets ugly.

thankfully, American Horror Story comes back on tonight. so, i will have something to turn to in case the Rangers lay another turd tonight.

i did watch the announcement for the baseball hall of fame today. i was a little shocked only 3 players made it. 1 fell short by 2 votes. ouch.

that's pretty much all for me today. i'm getting that poetry itch once again, so i'll probably do some writing here soon.

before i forget, i highly recommend the Nerdist podcast with Jim Norton. you can find that by going here: http://www.nerdist.com/2014/01/nerdist-podcast-jim-norton/

that's all for now. i'll be on sometime tomorrow, between the light snow showers i imagine. be well.

lost in the fog somewhere

i imagine my first mistake was only getting 3 1/2 hours of sleep. sometimes one video leads to another on YouTube and suddenly you're watching a totally engaging interview with one of your comedy heroes.

and then you realize that it's 4:30 in the morning and just say to yourself, you're going to feel like shit when you wake up at 8 in the morning. true enough.

if that wasn't bad enough, i turned on the computer and found out one of my roster moves in fantasy football got cockblocked by someone higher than me in the waiver wire order. fuck me. looks like my backup RB spot is going to be an open rotation of shit for a few weeks. gotta love pre-season injuries. fuck.

thankfully the Yankees won last night 7-1. congrats to Alfonso Soriano on his 400th career HR. it's always nice when you bury a bad team early. of course, i could have gone without seeing Cano get hit on the hand. by the same pitcher that broke Grandy's hand in spring training. thankfully, x-rays were negative. if it would have been broken, the season more or less would have been over. hopefully Kuroda gets back to his dominant ways tonight and they win this series.

i did watch a little Champions League play between mini cat naps this afternoon. nothing really surprised me with the results. you would think teams will start learning to never doubt Celtic at home. the draw for group play tomorrow should be interesting. hopefully Manchester United avoids the group of death again.

lots of shit on tv tonight to watch. The Yankees, Big Brother, Duck Dynasty, The Bridge, some tennis, new music festivals on Palladia, and god knows what else. i figure if i somehow make it to The Bridge without passing out it will be a miracle.

i did enjoy Hard Knocks last night. when i saw how bad they practiced at the high school less than a half hour from me, i was pretty happy i didn't go. plus, it's always funny watching large men run when they hear thunder. hilarious.

i figured i would bury this little nugget deep in this blog to see who is actually reading. i was driving home from the post office and ended up stuck behind a tanker truck carrying fresh manure. now, my window is down because the A/C in my truck fucking sucks. on top of that, it's roughly with the heat index, around 93 fucking degrees. if that's not painting a good enough picture, go turn your furnace on and stick your nose right in your dog's asshole. holy shit. that smell is going to be stuck with me until the day i die. i will tell you this, if i do end up moving away from the farm, i will NEVER miss the smell of fresh shit.

saw 8 of the 10 cats today. it seems that there is always 2 missing each day. but, 2 different each day. i figure they are probably out using up those 9 lives. i can also tell all the unnamed kittens are eating well. looks like a few of them might actually make it through the winter.

lastly, the end of the silly season must be drawing near as more juicy rumors are flying over in Europe. but, i will admit, a couple of the guys attached to Manchester United i definitely wouldn't mind seeing in red in the coming weeks. however, i have many doubts if any of it is actually true. i was very happy to see Wayne Rooney come out today and say he was staying.

that is all for today. at least all that i can squeeze out of this crowded mind. hasta manana.
