it never fails...

mom and i decided on fish last night for dinner. she set the oven on pre-heat and came back to the living room to watch some television. about 20 minutes later, she went back into the kitchen. i was in my massage chair, icing down my back. i suddenly heard an "oh shit!" from the kitchen. i stopped the massage and started lowering the chair to go into the kitchen. i asked her what was going on and all i could hear was fire. oh fuck. i got into the kitchen and i guess the heating element on the bottom in our oven broke. that was what was burning. mom turned the oven off and that killed the fire. she put the fish back into the freezer. a new oven isn't exactly something we had planned on having to do this weekend. i told her maybe we can hold out to Memorial Day and there will be some sales. she laughed and said the ovens were on sale last weekend. she sent me to go get Taco Bell for dinner. 8 PM on a Friday night in the town i live is fucking crazy, especially at all the fast food places. i figure that's because the whole fucking town basically shuts down at 10 PM. i finally got the food after waiting 30 minutes in line. and of course, they forgot something i ordered. it never fails...

the New York Yankees were losing that night entering the 9th inning, 3-1. Tampa's closer was on the mound and he had been mostly untouched so far this season. the first pitch of the bottom of the 9th, Luke Voit hit a homer. i started to perk up in my chair. when the wild pitch ended up tying the game at 3, i was jacked. and then, the undisputed MVP of the Yankees this season came to the plate. Gio Urshela. he got the game winning hit, giving the Yankees first place in the division. Gio is only batting 100 points higher this season than his "normal" average in previous seasons. hopefully, the first place Yankees will win again this afternoon.

Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows:

NJPW was really good last night.

Wu-Tang Clan: Of Mics and Men was excellent last night.

Real Time with Bill Maher was really good last night.

Wyatt Cenac's Problem Areas was great last night.

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be the season finale of Saturday Night Live and ROH.

the Preakness Stakes are today. when the Kentucky Derby winner isn't running in the race, i really couldn't give two shits who wins today.

i did watch the third period of the USA defeating Denmark this morning, 7-1.

i have no clue if mom wants to get an oven this weekend or not. i guess that's why i got up early this morning, just in case.

i hope everyone has a great Saturday. call if you need bail money.

the curse of creativity...

i woke up this morning at 6:45 to a jolt of pain. i thought it had something to do with the storms rolling through. about 30 minutes later, i thought maybe the pain was something else. when i saw the news that Chris Cornell had died, i was shocked. 52 is way too soon for that voice to be gone. and then i started hearing the news that it was suicide. i immediately thought back to my freshman year of high school when i saw Soundgarden open for Guns N' Roses. i have always thought of creativity as this dangerous weapon. just as much as you put it out in the world, it takes that much or even more away from the person with it. i think much like comedy, creativity comes from pain. the true broken souls are often these delicate beautiful creatures that give so much to the world. but, we live in a society that is totally disposable. most couldn't give two shits about delicate souls. and people wonder why this world sucks so damn much...

music has gotten me through so much in my life. it's always been the only friend that never stabbed me in the back. and being a poet, the words are just as important as the melody. and being a teenager in the Grunge era, all those songs are what my existence is built upon. to think that most of them are all gone now is rather humbling. it also brings about a reality that i certainly know exists. the hard part of being honest with yourself is knowing one day you'll be a tragedy just like them. it doesn't exactly make for a great life, but it's great for the poems.

thank you Chris for all the wonderful music over the years. thanks for sharing that voice that will live forever. may your family find comfort and may you rest in peace. say hello to everyone for me.

as you might imagine, this day has been really shitty for me. between arthritis and depression, i have no clue where this resolve to not be a junkie has come from. i'm writing this a little earlier than usual as i know i will HAVE to write later today.

NXT was really good last night. i think the Takeover: Chicago event this Saturday is going to be amazing.

the New York Yankees tried to piss away a win last night, but ultimately won 11-7. they will go for the sweep later tonight.

when you come to a fork in the road, take it.

i woke up this morning to the news that Yogi Berra was dead. knowing that he was 90 and his health was getting worse, i figured this day was coming. as a Yankees fan, Yogi became one of the things you always looked forward to. Old Timer's Day just won't be the same anymore.
http://www.theplayerstribune.com/yogi-berra-in-memoriam/

speaking of the Yankees, they had one of those games last night; edge of your seat, blown saves, frustration, ecstasy... it had just about everything. when Carlos Beltran put the Yankees ahead in the 8th, i felt good. when Andrew Miller blew just his second save of the season in the 9th, i was furious. when Greg Bird hit a 3 run homer in the 10th, the adrenaline was flowing for the rest of the night. the Yankees won 6-4 to keep hope of a division title alive at least. the rubber game of the series is tonight. hopefully i will be enjoying a victory beer at the end of the game.

the New York Rangers lost last night to Philadelphia 5-3. i really don't care about the scores in the preseason, i'm more concerned with how the players are playing. Mat Bodie and Oscar Lindberg really stood out to me last night. they survived the first round of cuts today. Bodie is a long shot to make the team. Lindberg is a guy i really want to make this team. i believe the next game is tomorrow against Boston.

The Voice was pretty good last night. i believe i have an early favorite:

Total Divas was good last night. the only part of the show i really wanted to see came 40 minutes into it:
but there was also this:

Scream Queens was great last night. just campy enough to be bad and great at the same time. The Muppets made me laugh mostly because of how awkward it felt at times. they weren't joking when they said this was going to be an adult themed show.

time for some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

Manchester United plays this afternoon against Ipswich Town in the Capital One Cup. United are playing at home so i expect a victory, though nothing seems to come easy for this team. and hopefully it goes much better than last season.

i made my football picks today. New England is my lock this week. i really didn't get any of the players i wanted in fantasy football, so this week could be a long one.

on the DVR tonight will be You're The Worst and the season finale of Big Brother. i would love to be shocked tonight and see someone other than Vanessa win.

NXT is on the WWE Network tonight. it looks like it should be a pretty good episode.

that's all for me today kids. i have dishes to put away and i would love to actually eat lunch, read the paper and go through the mail before Manchester United plays.

hope this finds everyone sneaking out of work early to go drink in a park.

progress... kind of

so, i thought i had charged the battery for the power drill. i mean, it was plugged in for almost 4 days. so when it died while i was trying to drill a hole to hang something in the living room last night, i was a bit pissed. so like any rational red blooded fool, i took out the drill bit and got a hammer and decided to use elbow grease instead. it took way longer than it should have, but everything that was supposed to be put up last night was.

and then in a sudden moment of fuck it, why not, or i was just really tired of the thing popping up on the computer, i upgraded to Windows 10 last night. i believe everything transferred. now, if you are a person who relies on Microsoft for everything, you should enjoy Windows 10. as for myself, this was more of an exercise to prove that i can get a handle on "modern" technology. this coming from a guy who has never sent a text message.

the upgrade happened overnight, so i didn't get nearly as much sleep as i wanted to. thankfully, i got in a good cat nap this morning and i should be good to go.

a little poetry news to pass on. i heard back from Conduit on the poems i sent back in January. they decided to pass on them and didn't send them back as i requested. that made it so much fun yesterday trying to find the 5 poems among the 5 years worth of material i have on one thumb drive. good times.

enjoy some music kids:

and since it is Sunday, time for some culture:

the New York Yankees got some great pitching from Tanaka yesterday and broke out the long ball to beat Toronto 4-1. that puts the Yankees up 1 1/2 games in the division now. they go for the sweep this afternoon.

the season ending episode of Power last night was excellent. a few nice swerves and a oh shit ending that should definitely make for an interesting season three.

ROH was excellent last night. you really can't go wrong with a show that includes Dalton Castle and the Young Bucks.

i believe mom and i are going to try to either get more stuff up on the walls today or put together some shelves in the garage.

on the DVR tonight will be Big Brother, Ray Donovan, Masters of Sex, Ballers, The Brink, The Strain and Last Week Tonight.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. as long as i don't suddenly find that some file is lost in the cloud somewhere, my Saturday was pretty damn good. hopefully all of our Sundays will be as well. currently i'm watching Manchester Shitty take on Chelsea. it's hard watching a game where you hope both teams lose.

enjoy the drinks and the sun. the order you do so is up to you.

Frontier Communications sucks (insert the body part of your choice here)

this post would have gone up hours ago but for some unknown fucking reason, the internet was down for over 7 hours today. and it has been going in and out tonight. just fucking lovely. my shitty, and i do mean shitty, internet service company has no fucking clue why it was out. they were kind enough to give us back $25, which i'm sure they will somehow forget to show on the next bill. if anyone ever wonders why i would love to leave this state forever, today was a shining example.

so, let's begin back on Sunday...

Manchester United played to a 1-1 draw. better than a loss i suppose, but not by much. they play again on Tuesday in the Capital One Cup. hopefully, they get a damn win. and i do hope they announce some desperately needed signings.

the Yankees won a huge game on Sunday, getting a walk off pinch hit home run in the bottom of the 10th to win 7-4. and then tonight they won 8-1 in Kansas City. that's five straight wins. hopefully they can continue the hot streak in Detroit tomorrow night.

Big Brother was good Sunday night. Ray Donovan was really good. The Strain was insanely brilliant as usual. Masters of Sex was pretty good. i did catch bits and pieces of the video music awards. i did like the one write up that said the awards were basically a two hour warm up for a Beyonce concert.

i did happen to write 3 poems last night. i typed those up today while the internet was out. i like them. hopefully they will get published in my next batch of submissions.

i got my packages from amazon.com today. of course, i only got 1 of them. mom was in a pissed off mood and went to the post office to get the other one. they were scanned in on Saturday afternoon, so i'm not really sure why they didn't have both in the box. or at the very least, a notice that one of them was in the back. the dumb fuck told my mother that they just would have put it in the box on Tuesday. and people wonder why the post office is hated. like someone buys something online and doesn't give a shit when they get it. another fucking reason to leave.

i watched a ton of soccer while not checking my emails. and since none of the teams playing were teams i gave a shit about, i caught up on some napping.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good tonight. i was in and out of the show all night with the baseball game and the Emmy Awards. the night was mostly about a more aggressive John Cena. thankfully, i had other shit to watch during that boring shit.

i will hopefully be on here tomorrow after Manchester United plays. i have to get to the store to pick up my medicine refills, so it may be after that.

oh, i heard from the dream woman finally. at least i know she's still alive.

that's all for me. thank you for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.
