one of those days where arthritis, back pain and a pinched nerve decided to start a war against me...

i had to drive out to my mother's ATM, which is about 15 minutes away or so. anytime i drive, the pinched nerve in my right arm goes crazy. and sadly, there isn't a damn place where i can put it where it won't throb. on top of that, the skies were darkening, so my arthritis was jumping for joy. and on these kind of days, my back pain is just a constant reminder that i earned this pain. of course, mom wanted Taco Bell for lunch today. that was fun sitting in that line for almost 30 minutes. joy.

the New York Yankees won last night at Baltimore, 9-6. hopefully, they will win again tonight.

the series finale of Divorce was okay. i expected a little bit more from it, but it just had the feeling that everyone was tired of the show.

Monday Night Raw was really good last night. i thought it did a great job setting up SummerSlam this weekend.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Smackdown, Deadliest Catch, Miz & Mrs. and Hard Knocks. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on WWE Network.

i will probably be on here tomorrow after i figure out what poems i'm sending where. if all goes well, that will happen in the morning.

i didn't get out of bed today until after 10 this morning. i wish i could say i was sleeping that entire time, but that's not fucking true. with no music or a fan on as background noise, it's back to talking myself to sleep. and since i got the dates for my 25th high school reunion, all those faces are now showing up in my dreams. good times.

i've got trash to pick up here and next door, so that's all for me kids.

until tomorrow...

my body has declared war

so i woke up this morning to cramps in both of my lower legs. not exactly how i thought i would start my Saturday, but god knows i love a good fucking challenge. my hands aren't working well this morning as arthritis has decided it's running the fucking show today. so much for going to the basketball game at noon. mom said she wasn't going last night because of how cold it is. it was probably at least -15 when i went out to get the paper this morning. as my mother started telling me 20 years ago... growing old is not for sissies.

Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows.

Treehouse Masters was pretty good last night. i never thought i'd see the day of basically everything but a fucking garage in the trees.

team USA beat the Czech Republic yesterday at the World Juniors 9-3 to win the Bronze.

Canada beat Sweden 3-1 to win the Gold medal. Sweden's captain, a draft pick of the New York Rangers, tossed his silver medal into the stands after he got it. i love a guy who hates to lose. of course, i'm sure the Rangers will now trade him at some point and then we get to see him become a star on some other team.

Manchester United won yesterday 2-0 over Derby County to advance to the next round of the FA Cup. the boys left it late, but, as usual here lately, Lingard to the rescue. Lukaku scored the other goal.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be NJPW, ROH and Austin City Limits.

the Dayton Flyers take on UMass at noon today. i really wanted to go but thankfully the game is on national television. hopefully Dayton can win 2 games in a row for the first time this season.

the NFL Playoffs start today. the only game i care about is on tomorrow.

the New York Rangers play tonight out in Arizona. i really hope they put the loss to Chicago behind them and come out with a fucking purpose tonight.

i did write 3 poems yesterday on top of doing the grocery store and getting my laundry done. those were the first poems of 2018. all 3 were about suicide. nice to see i haven't lost my touch. i do plan on doing some poetry work this weekend as i really want to get some submissions out next week.

i hope everyone has a great Saturday.

catharsis, sort of...

first, let me say that Every Brilliant Thing was amazing last night. i didn't know what it was about going into it, but i quickly knew it was about suicide once it started. i made the mistake of drinking while this was on. alcohol being a depressant already, oh boy, what a fucking ride. i absolutely love anything that can make me laugh and cry at the same time. for that alone, i highly urge you to check this out on HBO. now, while watching, i started to think about that i've had suicide in my head for 32 of the 40 years of my life. and part of me believes that's simply a byproduct of being inquisitive and a loner. another part of me thinks of how tragic that truly is. and when the guy talked about his mother's suicide last night, i started to think of the number of times i've been at that point. and why i haven't taken the next step? and then it was my mind racing to every time i think i take a step forward with my life, i'm suddenly dragged two steps back every fucking time. and part of me wonders how long i'll be able to keep this dance up before i've decided it's time. so, what usually happens is i end up in a really dark place mentally. last night was one of those times. now, sometimes amazing art comes from that dark place. sometimes i wake up in a pile of my own shit. and sometimes i wake up on the couch and the knives are under a bush outside (god i miss my 20's and tequila shots). last night, i ended up writing 3 poems in that dark place. i typed them up this morning and i really, really like them. i haven't decided where they will go, but i will certainly send them out sometime in 2017.

after i wrote those poems i actually got some sleep. damn near 6 hours, which is a fucking eternity for me.

team USA won in the World Juniors yesterday 6-1 over Latvia. thankfully, they got better as the game went on. they will next play Slovakia, which will be a tougher test.

i thought Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night, especially since it was the last show of 2016. i love that Braun Strowman is getting a push. he should absolutely be the next huge bad ass. plus, i'll never get tired of Jericho and Kevin Owens.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Smackdown. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on WWE Network.

i will forever remember Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia. but, i'll remember her more for her books. she was a brilliant writer. rest in peace, you absolutely deserve it.

the New York Rangers play tonight at home against Ottawa. The King is out with the flu, so it's the backup goalie once again. hopefully the time off did the team some good and they can get back to winning.

a little advice for everyone out there. actually listen when in a conversation instead of simply waiting for your turn to talk. the world already has too many assholes in it. trust me, i'm one of them.

i have trash to do and my laundry to finish. my neck has been killing me all fucking day. and the weather can't make up its fucking mind what time of year it is.

good times.

when you get too much sleep

and the funny thing, you probably read that headline and thought, 10, 11 hours or something... no, i got roughly 6.5 hours of sleep and have been dragging all damn day. not even coffee could get me going. eventually, i did just kick myself in the ass and got on with the day.

i sent out 10 poems today; 5 each to Because Eileen and Misfit Magazine. when i hear back from these places, i'll pass along the verdicts.

the New York Yankees finally got a win last night in a bench clearing, wild fucking game. they beat Toronto 7-5, although they nearly pissed away another game in the bottom of the 9th. thankfully, they are now home for the rest of the season. they start a series tonight with Boston.

apparently getting two straight games of great defense from the New Orleans Saints is simply too much to ask for. between the fucking injuries and piss poor tackling, Atlanta did whatever the fuck they wanted last night. the Saints lost 45-32.

i lost both of my fantasy football matches. the one that stung the worst was the one i lost by 1.37 points. my teams are now 0-3 and 1-2. i told my mother, if this keeps up, this might be the year i say goodbye to fantasy football.

i thought The Voice was pretty good last night.

Monday Night Raw was the clusterfuck it normally is last night. i did like the cruiserweights getting a bigger spotlight last night. plus, Kevin Owens is pure gold. the feud with Seth Rollins has the chance to be fucking great. hopefully the powers that be don't fuck that up as well.

The Big Bang Theory was fucking hilarious last night.

Gotham was off the charts great. the show just keeps getting better.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be WWE Smackdown, The Voice, Scream Queens and Atlanta.

i haven't heard yet what mom's MRI showed. i'm not even sure if she's called the doctor yet. she's mostly just been in bed all day long.

i have trash to pick up here and next door, so that's all for me today kids.

i hope this finds everyone swimming in a pool of cash or liquor, whatever you prefer.

when you come to a fork in the road, take it.

i woke up this morning to the news that Yogi Berra was dead. knowing that he was 90 and his health was getting worse, i figured this day was coming. as a Yankees fan, Yogi became one of the things you always looked forward to. Old Timer's Day just won't be the same anymore.
http://www.theplayerstribune.com/yogi-berra-in-memoriam/

speaking of the Yankees, they had one of those games last night; edge of your seat, blown saves, frustration, ecstasy... it had just about everything. when Carlos Beltran put the Yankees ahead in the 8th, i felt good. when Andrew Miller blew just his second save of the season in the 9th, i was furious. when Greg Bird hit a 3 run homer in the 10th, the adrenaline was flowing for the rest of the night. the Yankees won 6-4 to keep hope of a division title alive at least. the rubber game of the series is tonight. hopefully i will be enjoying a victory beer at the end of the game.

the New York Rangers lost last night to Philadelphia 5-3. i really don't care about the scores in the preseason, i'm more concerned with how the players are playing. Mat Bodie and Oscar Lindberg really stood out to me last night. they survived the first round of cuts today. Bodie is a long shot to make the team. Lindberg is a guy i really want to make this team. i believe the next game is tomorrow against Boston.

The Voice was pretty good last night. i believe i have an early favorite:

Total Divas was good last night. the only part of the show i really wanted to see came 40 minutes into it:
but there was also this:

Scream Queens was great last night. just campy enough to be bad and great at the same time. The Muppets made me laugh mostly because of how awkward it felt at times. they weren't joking when they said this was going to be an adult themed show.

time for some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

Manchester United plays this afternoon against Ipswich Town in the Capital One Cup. United are playing at home so i expect a victory, though nothing seems to come easy for this team. and hopefully it goes much better than last season.

i made my football picks today. New England is my lock this week. i really didn't get any of the players i wanted in fantasy football, so this week could be a long one.

on the DVR tonight will be You're The Worst and the season finale of Big Brother. i would love to be shocked tonight and see someone other than Vanessa win.

NXT is on the WWE Network tonight. it looks like it should be a pretty good episode.

that's all for me today kids. i have dishes to put away and i would love to actually eat lunch, read the paper and go through the mail before Manchester United plays.

hope this finds everyone sneaking out of work early to go drink in a park.

living the life of a...

welcome to the 27th day of National Poetry Month. i'm going the YouTube route again today. these three poems though blew me the fuck away when i watched them. enjoy:

the New York Yankees won last night against the Mets, 6-4. that's three series won in a row now. they start a series with Tampa tonight. hopefully they can keep on rolling.

i did watch all of Extreme Rules last night on the WWE Network. it was MUCH better than i was expecting. the only match that did nothing for me was Cena vs. Rusev. that's mostly because i can't stand John Cena. amazingly, the match that i liked the best was Roman Reigns vs. The Big Show. that was much better than it should have been. all in all, i was pleasantly surprised. hopefully Monday Night Raw is good tonight. i know they are bringing back The King of the Ring tournament. that should make for some fun.

the Sunday night shows were excellent. Nurse Jackie was really good. Happyish was a rerun of the pilot episode. i think it's going to be a really good series. Silicon Valley was great. Veep was fucking hilarious. Last Week Tonight was brilliant as usual. watch:

tonight on the DVR will be The Voice and Gotham. i imagine i probably should watch some of Game 7 tonight between the fucking Islanders and the fucking Capitals. the winner faces the New York Rangers in the next round.

mom wanted to go out shopping today. we went to this grocery store that you can also buy just about everything else at. hell, most of the stores around here are turning into this type of place. i did convince mom that i should try Bud Light's new Long Island Iced Tea mix just to see if it is any good or not. good times.

i think tomorrow she wants to go out and try to find a better chair for her at her computer. so, i suppose in the afternoon we'l make a journey to Office Depot or something.

that's all for me today. one of these fucking days i'll get around to sending out some more poems. i've got a couple of places in mind.

hope everyone had a great weekend.

a day without sunshine

it's these days in the winter where my mind easily drifts into some pretty dark places. death, suicide, crazy mutilation porn, my shitty childhood, etc etc. and the scary thing is, the more good news i get (1 poem accepted, 2 selected for a best of), it brings me no joy at all. i still think about something Steve Harvey said nearly 15 years ago that burns me to my soul. if you have no one to share your success with, you don't have shit in your life. sure enough, here i am.

it completely slipped my mind that last night was the season finale of American Horror Story. i was happy that i got to watch all of it. i really enjoyed it and thought the series on the whole was awesome as well. i really enjoyed how they tied up some storylines and brought back characters from earlier in the season. that was a nice touch.

Lucha Underground was great once again. yet another fast paced episode that was surely some of the best indie work going on today in pro wrestling. here are some highlights:

i have no clue what i'm going to watch tonight. maybe some basketball, maybe some junior hockey up in Canada, maybe i'll just flip around the channels all night.

mom was supposed to be home hours ago. she said she was going to get the paper and mail while she was out, so i didn't bother to leave the house today (other than to feed the animals). so, i suppose i'll spend some time tonight going through the paper and mail.

the parts for the new roof got delivered today. they are hoping to get started on that tomorrow. that would get us one step closer to selling this place.

for those that are wondering, my left arm is slightly better, but i think it's mostly me blocking out the pain than the arm actually getting better. i'm still sleeping in a chair. i can lay down in a bed to stretch or to masturbate, but sleeping is damn near impossible. the pressure that builds in my arm is fucking unbearable after a few minutes. my luck, this won't be a nerve problem. if i can make it through this weekend without going completely insane, i'm shooting for a trip to the doctor next week sometime.

my last thought today is just wondering if anyone has masturbated so hard before that their dick felt like it was actually going to start to catch fire. welcome to my Thursday as you enjoy that visual.

thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.
