and now, the heat...

we're under an excess heat warning all week. joy. and of course, it would be this week, when both mom and i have doctor's appointments and she has two physical therapy appointments.

the New York Yankees lost last night at Boston, 9-3. sadly, it looks like the Yankees can whip every other team in the league, but struggle against their own division. hopefully, that starts being different soon since they start a series at home against Baltimore tomorrow night.

i did watch some of the Euro 2024 yesterday.

Power Book II: Ghost was good last night.

The Chi was excellent last night.

Last Week Tonight was BRILLIANT as usual.

enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be Monday Night Raw and Name That Tune.

Game 5 of the NBA Finals is tonight.

i need to go to the bank and make a deposit. i'm going to do that here in a bit.

mom does have physical therapy this afternoon. hopefully, i will get some poems written there.

a big thank you to everyone for checking out my latest published poems:

i will probably be on here tomorrow after i get back home from taking mom to her doctor's appointment.

i hope everyone had a great weekend.

sometimes the pain wins...

if there wasn't just enough rain in the area to drive my arthritis nuts, i might have actually had a good day. instead, i didn't. now, Kroger did get my Trulicity in, so that nightmare was avoided. of course, when i got back home, Rite Aid had texted me to tell me i had a prescription ready. so, i went back out to there. i got back home and i could hear the squirrels in the attic, in the garage area. i went outside to look and there was one staring down at me. i then walked over to the side of the house where the trap was. the trap was on the ground, nothing in it. so, now i'm wondering did they tear another hole in the roof to get in. i told mom to call Orkin. of course, they haven't shown up yet. damn flying rats.

by the way, i did write 3 more poems last night. hopefully, that will continue tonight as well.

the New York Yankees lost yesterday at Baltimore, 7-2. they start a series tonight at home against Detroit.

didn't expect to see this this morning...

i was beyond tired last night. i got the dishes done around 3:30 AM. my mother was still in the bathroom, where she had been since basically midnight. by 4 AM, i was dragging and knew i needed some NyQuil and sleep. so, i asked my mother if she needed anything since this was going to be her last chance to ask. she said no. i woke up at 9 AM. i went into her room and all the lights were still on. i went into the bathroom and she had stuffed her diaper and her pants into the toilet. i think i said WHAT THE FUCK loud enough to wake up the neighborhood. i went into the other bathroom to piss. i cleaned out the toilet and sure enough, i then had to shit. and by the time that was done, mom had peed in the bed. so, there was another load of laundry to do. i did eventually get her dressed and out to the living room. i made her breakfast and thought she was actually going to be ok. silly me. she spilled coffee on the floor. she somehow got cream cheese on her phone, pills and her hair. she asked for a diet coke and promised to use both hands. she spilled that all over the floor. and then the best part was when she was accused me of kidnapping, not allowing her to talk to people, etc. etc. all because she didn't realize her phone was upside down. i showed her how to open it and dial, etc. and then she accused me of not showing her what i just showed her. that was my 9 AM to 3 PM life today. i got some dry socks on her and some dry pants and i think she is actually sleeping now. i was able to go to Rite Aid and get my prescription and all the other shit i needed. thankfully, that only took 30 minutes today.

the USWNT won yesterday against Germany, 2-1. that ended their 3 game losing streak.

the New York Rangers won last night over Arizona, 4-1.

The White Lotus last night was hilarious.

Let The Right One In last night was excellent.

Last Week Tonight was BRILLIANT as usual.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Monday Night Raw, The Voice, Avenue 5 and The Vow.

i'll keep everyone updated on what is going on. i need to find mom's paperwork so i can get her back on her meds. so, that great hunt will begin when she wakes up as i don't want to wake her as i'm going through files and then get accused of something. she already threatened me once today.

i hope everyone had a great weekend.

sometimes it feels like banging your head against a ton of bricks...

my day was actually going pretty good. i found plenty of baseball cards today (more on that in a bit), got all the grocery shopping done in time to get home to see Manchester United play. and then everything went to shit.

let's get this shit out of the way. Manchester United was playing the worst team in the Premier League today, knowing they needed a victory to go back into first place. so, of course, they play down to their competition and fucking lost, 2-1. kill me now.

i picked up a box of 2020 Topps Heritage High Numbers today at Meijer. got some new sheets for the cards while i was there as well. the Rite-Aid where i live had no cards at all. so, i went to the Rite-Aid where the grocery store i use is at and holy fuck, i got 2 Fairfield boxes of baseball cards and 1 Fairfield box of football cards. now, both of the baseball card boxes had relics in them. the football box had some really good cards in it. and the Topps Heritage box had some really good rookie cards in it and one short print. so, all in all, i think i got my money's worth today.

the New York Rangers lost last night to Buffalo, 3-2. i'm hoping one of these nights they actually just stop thinking and start playing and let their talent come through.

the Dayton Flyers lead from start to finish yesterday against Saint Louis. they won 76-71. it was Dayton's first win against a ranked opponent since 2015.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, The Masked Dancer, Name That Tune, NXT and AEW.

amazingly, they got the trash and recycling picked up before 11 AM this morning. they never have that done that early. i was pleasantly shocked.

i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow. i'm guessing it will be before the Rangers play tomorrow night.

i'm pretty happy with what the Yankees have done this offseason. if the new pitchers actually have something left in the tank, i think they will definitely have a chance to win it all this season, while being below the salary cap.

that's all for me kids. i have a dinner to go help make.

at least we had a little sun...

we had a pop up storm hit last night. knocked out the damn power for about 10 seconds or so, you know, long enough that all the fucking clocks had to be reset, etc. i would bitch and moan, but then i saw the tornado that ripped through Nashville last night and know it could always be worse here.

i did go to the bank today. after i made that deposit, i went to Office Depot to get some better pens. the ones i got there last time fucking sucked. i did find some good pens, a new mousepad and some other shit, all for less than $20. the store is going to close on March 21st. i told mom if she wants to make a last trip, let me know.

at least i got home before the rain started again. nothing like sitting at the computer and your body just starts to fucking ache, before you even hear the rain hit the roof. joy.

Monday Night Raw started off great last night and ended hot as well. it was all the shit in the middle that i wish was much better.

The New Pope was excellent last night. the season finale is next week.

McMillion$ was great last night. that finale is next week as well.

The Voice was good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be WWE Backstage.

the New York Rangers play tonight at home against St. Louis. i'd love to see the Rangers find a way to get something out of this game tonight.

so, i see the Democrats are once again trying to steal the nomination away from Bernie Sanders. so, that just made up my mind on whom i'm voting for. i'm down for a revolution.

i should be on here early tomorrow. it will definitely be long before Dayton plays at Rhode Island tomorrow night.

i need to get the trash picked up here and next door and hopefully do it between storms.

of course, it had to start raining...

before i get to the arthritis in my knee going nuts as i was biting into a sandwich, a little serious note i need to pass along.

on the right hand side of the blog, you may have noticed the picture i put up that is a direct link to Debbie Kirk's fundraising campaign on GoFundMe. this is to get her some money for her fight against breast cancer. i urge everyone to check it out, donate if you can, and pass it along to everyone you know. many thanks for all of you that do this. here is a link to the fundraiser:
https://www.gofundme.com/5m0wfqg

after mom and i got the car back from the mechanic, we went out lunch. just as i was biting into my bacon cheeseburger at Red Robin, my left knee started throbbing. 2 minutes later, the televisions went out and i knew exactly what was coming. it started to really fucking pour. that exact moment, i should have gone to the bar and got a shot or something. thankfully, the rain didn't last long, but the fucking drizzle did. we had to go to the grocery store after that. mom had pills to pick up (9 prescriptions) and we were out of sweetener for the morning coffee. that was all done pretty quickly. thankfully, the drizzle had stopped on our way home. of course, it's supposed to rain more tonight.

the New York Yankees won last night, 6-5 in 10 innings over Houston. the Yankees had no business winning the game as they had 5 fucking errors in the game. but, i'll gladly take it. the Yankees can win the series as it concludes tonight.

Smackdown was pretty good last night.

205 Live was excellent last night.

Deadliest Catch was good last night.

The Jim Jefferies Show was hilarious last night.

the season finale (and hopefully not the series finale) of The Chris Gethard Show was excellent last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight and Being Serena. i'll watch NXT sometime tonight on WWE Network.

Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final is tonight. i'm rooting for Las Vegas in this series. hopefully they will go up 2-0 tonight on Washington.

i will be on here tomorrow after i get home from taking mom to her physical therapy appointment. hopefully, i will have some end of the month poems to type up.

that's all for me kids.

what to do when odd phrases hit you at 2 in the morning while taking a piss

welcome to the 24th day of National Poetry Month. today, i'm shining a light on the poet Paul Tristram. i have become aware of Paul's work in the last few years and i am very impressed. hopefully in the next few links, you'll find something you enjoy as well:

http://www.horrorsleazetrash.com/poetry/paul-tristram-8/
http://poppyroadreview.blogspot.com/2015/02/a-strange-day-living-without-you-again.html

while on the topic of poetry, the title of this blog represents exactly what happened to me last night. i would mention what the phrase was but i won't. you can read it when the poem gets published. i ended up writing 3 poems last night/this morning. i really like them after i typed them up. i will probably squeeze out a submission here in the next few days.

mom and i took another load of shit to Goodwill today. slowly but surely, the garage and farm are getting cleaned out. tomorrow morning i have to drive down south of town and have 9 boxes of papers get shredded. that will certainly clean some more room out.

the shows last night were excellent. The Big Bang Theory was very good. Lip Sync Battle was ok, although i couldn't help but laugh at Mike Tyson:
The Comedians was fucking hilarious last night. i think that was the best show so far. Louie was uncomfortable. that isn't a bad thing. i love that Louie does a show that doesn't have you laugh at every fucking second.

and then this made me laugh:

the New York Yankees start a series at home tonight with the Mets. i would be watching all of it, but a certain hockey team is playing tonight.

the New York Rangers have a chance tonight to close out the Penguins. i'm hoping they take advantage of this chance tonight and get it done. if they do, it will be in the exact number of games i picked before the playoffs started, 5. that will have nearly all of my attention tonight.

that's all for me today. i hope everyone has a wonderful weekend planned. it's going to fucking rain here, so no wonderful in the forecast for me anytime soon.

a sleepless Sunday

after some shitty sleep, more on that later, woke up to watch Manchester United in Norway. a rare, entertaining 0-0 game. the other team's goalie made some spectacular saves. the team seems to be rounding into a good form. the season starts in less than 2 weeks.

was very nice to actually see the Yankees win a series for a change. a comfortable 6-2 win. decent pitching by Sweaty Freddy, better pitching by the bullpen, some timely hitting and a long homer from Ibanez. next up are the Tigers and Verlander. great.

watched a little bit of the Olympics today but not much. nothing really worth writing about.

my mind has been in a little of a fog since a phone call early this morning (like 2 a.m. early) from my brother from another mother about his newborn son. didn't really know what was up until this afternoon. looks like the kid will be ok (fingers crossed) as the doctors seem to believe they know what's going on. i suppose time will tell. and hopefully he decides 3 is enough.

some Sunday night tv is in order as i've got all the tedious shit i had to for my book sent off. and then, hopefully, sleep.

music today:
