so, it was rainy last night here. fuck, still is. i've been aching for hours and hours. i helped mom make dinner last night. it was really good. she likes to feel productive and i can understand that. just didn't want mashed potatoes that were like soup again.
i did watch both NFL games on Netflix yesterday. the first game was pretty good. the second game was a blowout. Beyonce at halftime was great.
AEW was pretty good last night.
i did catch some of the NBA games yesterday:

nothing on the DVR tonight.
Manchester United plays at Wolves today. hopefully, they will find a way to win.
the World Juniors tournament starts today. the USA will play Germany this afternoon.
i will probably watch some of the NFL game tonight, Seahawks at Bears.
i need to go to the bank today and make a deposit.
i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow.

so, Christmas went pretty good yesterday. i think mom really liked what i got her. we had some really good food yesterday as well. now here is where the dysfunction kicked in. i took her blood pressure last night and for the first time in eons, it was where it was supposed to be. her first thought was that she was dying. that stunned me and i am a pessimist most of the time. for her to react to good news like that on Christmas was baffling to me. but, this does explain why anytime i get good news i'm always looking for when the other shoe to drop instead of enjoying it.
the New York Knicks lost yesterday at home to Philadelphia, 119-112.

i might have to go to Kroger later today to get a prescription for my mother. if that happens, i might go to the bank and deposit the check i got for Christmas yesterday.
i should be on here tomorrow before Manchester United plays in the afternoon.
i hope everyone had a great Christmas.

so, Christmas went pretty good yesterday. i believe my mother and my sister both liked what i got them. they got me a single cup coffee maker that i totally wasn't expecting. i figured i was going to start experimenting with stronger coffee when mom died. so, i guess that journey will begin sooner now. we had Cornish hens for our Christmas dinner. i can't remember how long it has been since i had one of them. i think next year, we're going to do wings in the air fryer. my sister's friends got me a bottle of gin. i sent back some alcohol with my sister for them.
i did watch plenty of the NBA yesterday. here are some highlights:
AEW Rampage was really good last night.

my sister just left to go back home. she had one of her friends over here for dinner last night. first time i can ever remember having lasagna for Christmas. and amazingly, i liked the seafood lasagna better than the usual lasagna.
well, the New Orleans Saints got a little revenge on the Vikings yesterday and won 52-33. mostly, it was the Alvin Kamara show. he had 6 rushing touchdowns in the game, which ties a NFL record from 1929. the win clinches the division for the Saints. that's 4 years in a row they have won that.
Smackdown and 205 Live were both pretty good last night.
Russia defeated the USA last night, 5-3 at the World Juniors. i'm really hoping the USA can bounce back tonight against Austria.
i did catch some of the NBA games yesterday. i'll probably watch some of that tonight as well.

so, i got up early this morning to watch Manchester United. i was able to watch it on my phone, that way i wouldn't bother anyone else in the house. United fucking blew two leads in the game and had to settle for a 2-2 draw against Leicester.
i figure the rest of the day is going to be spent flipping between the NFL, college football, college basketball and the World Juniors hockey tournament.
i did take advantage of a sale last night at Repacked Wax. i got $4 off of 10 packs of cards. i've had some great success with them so far, so i decided to take another swing. i know i need to go out next week and get some more pages and probably another binder for some cards.
i suppose i'll be on here in the morning tomorrow.

as an American, Boxing Day to me has always meant plenty of soccer games from England. now that i'm older, i understand the holiday more, but i'm still all about the soccer games.
Manchester United fell behind 1-0 early today against Newcastle and i immediately thought, shit, here we go again. thankfully, today was not the same old same old. United scored 3 straight before halftime. all 3 strikers scored the goals. Anthony Martial would add a second in the second half to put United up 4-1. that would be the final score of the game. they desperately needed this victory today.
what Dec. 26th also means to me is the start of the World Juniors tournament for hockey. the tournament this year is in the Czech Republic. team USA played Canada today. the USA blew a 2 goal lead as Canada scored the next 4 goals. the USA worked their way back to even the game at 4. that lasted all of 7 seconds, as Canada scored again and eventually won the game 6-4. it's not the end of the world for the USA, but it makes the road to a gold medal that much harder. i believe they play Germany tomorrow afternoon. that's now a MUST win game.
NXT was really good last night. NXT UK was a recap of 2019 this afternoon.
i did watch plenty of NBA games yesterday.

i hope everyone had a great Christmas. there was a little snow left in our neighbor's yard... so that's as close as we got to a white Christmas. i believe the high yesterday was 62. the joys of climate change.

i'm back from my little Christmas break. everything went well at my sister's house. her friends and their children really seemed to like their presents. i think my sister and mother both liked what i got them. all in all, other than shitty sleeping and way too much time on the toilet, it was a pretty good Christmas.
we did get up there and got everything out of the car by the time the New Orleans Saints game started. that was my plan. so i was pretty damn happy being able to sit down and watch the game on a big screen in my sister's basement and not be disturbed at all. and thankfully, the Saints won and are now going to be in the playoffs. and if they win at Tampa Bay next weekend, they will win the division and host a playoff game.
mom and i got back home last night. in time to put shit away and sit down for a little wrestling.
Monday Night Raw was pretty good and then the last hour of the show happened. Roman Reigns going nuts and destroying Samoa Joe was excellent. and then, the unexpected change of the tag titles. that truly caught me off guard. so, your new tag champs on Raw are Seth Rollins and Jason Jordan. never thought i'd type that in my lifetime.
it was nice to actually get some decent sleep last night. even if it was just a little over 4 hours.
i got up this morning and wrote 8 poems. i wrote those in the new notebook my sister's friends got me for Christmas. i typed those up this afternoon and really like them. that gives me 32 poems for the month. so, that's another goal crossed off.
when Manchester United went down 2-0 in the first half this morning, i was not pleased. when Jesse Lingard scored 2 goals to even the game in the second half, i wasn't pleased either. sure, they got a point out of the game. a game they honestly should have lost because a draw does nothing to teach the team or the management a lesson. they have no fucking chance to win the league. and if they keep playing like this, they will struggle to remain in the top 4 for the rest of the season.

i'm not going to sit here and write that i was the biggest George Michael fan. but i certainly would be a fucking liar if i said his music didn't influence me. growing up in the 80's and 90's, his music certainly shaped my mind on many things. god knows, puberty was one of those times when beautiful models in a George Michael video would certainly come in handy, pun intended. my sister and i were watching the news last night when it came across that he had died at 53. i immediately thought about all the talented fuckers who have died this year. this is as bad as i ever remember it. i made my sister watch the movie Keanu last night just because George Michael's music played such a big role in it. another figure of my childhood gone forever. before too long, they all will be. rest in peace George, you certainly deserve it.
the basketball game yesterday between Cleveland and Golden State was an instant classic. and i picked both football games right yesterday, so i'm pretty happy about that.
my sister left earlier today, hoping to beat the rain that's coming. she managed to not forget anything this time.
all in all, i think it was a pretty good Christmas. we certainly got a good portion of the garage cleaned out, so that's a plus.
i did catch some of the second leg between Tigres and Club America last night. talk about a game that had everything; red cards, a brawl, late goals, penalty kicks... you name it, it happened. congrats to Tigres on the win.
enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be Every Brilliant Thing. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.
Boxing Day is always a big day in the Premier League. Manchester United took on Sunderland today. it was the first time David Moyes had been back at Old Trafford since he got fired. United got goals from Daley Blind, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and a holy shit goal (albeit offisde but not called) from Henrikh Mkhitaryan to win 3-1. they are finally on the kind of roll that makes you think a top 4 finish is still possible.
team USA plays today in the World Juniors. this is one of my favorite hockey tournaments every year. hopefully they can get a win today over Latvia. they need these points as they are in the same group with Russia and Canada.
that's all for me today kids. if you're out shopping or returning gifts, have fun and some patience.

i fell into my usual Christmas trap yesterday. while my mother and sister were next door, i was here by myself pondering all my failures and my loneliness on a day where no one is supposed to feel lonely. i did use that depression to get some shit done though. i finished reading a book of poetry that was great and watched a few things on the DVR. i watched that U2 concert from Paris they did a few weeks back. the recording cut off before it was over. so i did something i should have done a long time ago. i got a HBO GO account. i was able to watch what i missed in about 3 minutes after signing up. not sure how much i will use it, but that certainly came in handy.
i do have some poems swimming up in my head. whenever they fucking decide to come out of the water and make it onto the page, i'm more than ready.
so i got up this morning after more or less forcing myself to sleep on my right hip. i can't sleep comfortably on my left side for some fucking reason. so the 5 hours i got was more or less just block out the pain and sleep. Manchester United was playing at Stoke this morning. i knew it was going to be a tough game but LVG said it was a MUST win game. i figured he said that because he knows he's on the chopping block. so i was expecting United to come inspired and i was completely fucking wrong. they had the wind at their backs and couldn't do shit with it. 20 or so minutes in and they were down 2-0. they decided to put Rooney on at halftime and that might have worked in a different year. United more or less had one chance and of course, didn't do shit with it. this is the first time Manchester United has lost 4 games in a row in all competitions since 1961. a new manager can't get here soon enough.

the World Juniors Hockey Tournament started today over in Finland. team USA takes on Canada later today. that should be interesting. hopefully the boys can come away with a medal this year.
i got some pretty cool t-shirts from my sister yesterday and some Batman and Star Wars stuff from my mother. both of them really enjoyed what i got them, so that made me happy.
i added a contact form to the right hand side of the blog yesterday. so if you'd rather email me than leave a comment, feel free.
my uncle might be getting out of the nursing home soon. he's hoping for Monday. from what i've heard, he's getting stronger but he's still not doing everything he should be doing. as you might notice, i come from a long line of stubborn fucks.
i will hopefully get to take a shower today and maybe watch some football as well. i have no clue if my mother and sister have something planned to do today or not. i think they know by now i really don't get up for family events.
i hope everyone had a great Christmas.

i decided to break out the vodka my sister got me for Christmas last night. lo and behold, i ended up writing 4 poems. the vodka is good. i'm hoping the poems are better. i typed them up this afternoon after the adventure my mother and i went on. more on that later. i'm not sure yet where i'll be sending these poems, but i'm hoping to get out another batch before 2015 rolls around.
i got up this morning in plenty of time to watch Manchester United. thankfully, the team is really starting to click. the won 3-1. 2 goals and an assist from Wayne Rooney. the other goal came from RVP. i finally am starting to believe that a top 4 finish this season is absolutely possible. here are some highlights from the game, in GIF form:
we needed to go out today to get ink for the printer and finally get a new shredder. along the way we got the paper, the mail, cat food and bird food. a big thank you to everyone that sent me Christmas cards. and a big thank you to John Sweet for the books. very much appreciated my friend. when we sat down for lunch this afternoon, i believe both my mother and i were spent. my mother had some gift cards for where we went, so lunch ended up being under $5. not bad when the original bill was over $35. it was a steakhouse by the way, that's why it was that expensive.
the sun was actually out today. so i finally got to use my new sunglasses. they worked really good, not that the sun is out enough around here to wear them all the time. but at least i know i have some good sunglasses once again.
i watched a ton of NBA basketball yesterday. that was good to get some naps in. i believe all the other sports start back up tomorrow. i know the New York Rangers play tomorrow night. i completely missed the start of the 2015 World Juniors today. i read about the Team USA win over Finland. i can't wait until the USA plays Canada. that is usually the New Year's Eve Hockey War.
today felt so much like a Saturday. hopefully a victory beer will get me back in the swing of things.
i have no clue what i'll be watching tonight on television. maybe some college football, maybe something on the Food Network. or, maybe i'll figure out where i'm sending some poems. your guess is as good as mine.
i'll be on here most likely in the afternoon tomorrow. i got a check in the mail today that i'd like to get to the bank tomorrow morning. so, i suppose sometime after that odyssey.
i hope everyone had a great Christmas. hopefully your Boxing Day was good as well. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

as a sports fan for the majority of my life, what the day after Christmas truly means is 2 things. 1) a full day of Premier League games and 2) the start of the World Juniors Tournament in hockey. so, unlike the rest of the greedy souls spending gift cards or taking back the shit they didn't want today, i was up at the crack of dawn to get the vocal chords ready.
to say i was a bit pissed when Manchester United went down 2-0 in just 13 minutes against Hull City would be an understatement. i was beyond fucking livid. thankfully, my mother was already awake so i didn't need to keep quiet. my mood got better quickly as United had tied the game in the next 15 minutes. they ended up winning 3-2 thanks to an own goal from Hull. i could have gone without the red card from Valencia and the madness in the final 3 minutes, but i'll gladly take the much needed 3 points. next game is on Saturday.
and that game got over in time for me to check some email and get ready for team USA in the World Juniors. the tournament is over in Sweden, so the time difference should work out for me this year. i like the fact that they say they aren't defending the gold medal from last year but trying to win their own gold medal. nice Jedi mind tricks (if they happen to win it again). team USA had a pretty solid opener with a 5-1 win over the Czech Republic. not too many mistakes and plenty of positives to build on. they play again in a few days.
so that's 2 victory beers i will be enjoying later tonight.
i spent most of yesterday watching bad basketball. the first 2 NBA games absolutely stunk. i ended up trying to find movies or something else on the television. thankfully, the last 3 games were pretty good. of course, the last game didn't get over until 1:30 in the morning. good thing i took plenty of cat naps during the day that i was actually refreshed when i was up just 5 hours later.
i have no clue what i'm going to watch tonight. maybe some of the bowl games, maybe i'll do some end of the year writing. i am hoping to get some money together to hit the bank up tomorrow with a decent end of the year deposit. mom gave me 2 scratch off lottery cards yesterday and one hit for $10. so, at least i know i'll be putting $10 in.
i need a damn haircut as well. i can't see my cheap ass paying for one, so tomorrow might be a day to clean the razors and get to shaving this mop down to something a little more manageable. of course, the beauty of apathy is i may not feel like this come tomorrow so nothing will happen. i often wonder why i'm single and then i step outside of myself and truly realize there isn't a woman on earth that should be willing to deal with this madness. although, i'm always willing to listen to offers.
hope everyone enjoyed their boxing day. the sun actually made an appearance today, so it wasn't too bad out here. now, if only the damn wind would calm down...
until tomorrow afternoon with bank stories and god knows what else as i have no clue where my mother is dragging me to tomorrow. maybe car shopping, maybe a little lunch, maybe a trip to a box store for some deals, maybe long lines of traffic where i'll write horrific murder poems in my head... time will tell.
be well. peace and chicken grease.

so i started off this weekend wondering has it really been 19 years since Charles Bukowski died? fuck, i feel old.
after watching the New York Rangers lose Friday night to Ottawa (who are somehow 12-1-1 in their last 14 games at MSG) i didn't have a very good feeling for the weekend.
i listened to the Dayton Flyers lose another heart breaker on the road and eventually back their way into the A10 tournament. i have never seen a team be so snake-bitten in my life. 0-7 in games decided by 3 points or less. and oh joy, on Thursday they get to play Butler. i will be shocked if they advance.
Saturday Night Live was excellent. of course, if you bring back almost 10 people or so, i guess it should be. i really enjoyed ROH on Saturday Night. i love how they are setting up this SCUM angle. although, it smells like a Kevin Steen face turn. i'm interested to see if they go that way. i have no doubts that Kevin is versatile enough to pull it off, just not sure if the fans will buy it or not.
so, after getting some trash picked up, cats fed, a little breakfast with my sister and mother, i sat down to watch Manchester United. a great first half that saw beautiful goals from Chicharito and Wayne Rooney. and then, a second half where they allowed Chelsea to control just about all 45 minutes and eventually tie the game. just fucking great. so, they now have to play Chelsea on the road in a few days. for some reason, the collapse of last season is suddenly creeping back into my head.
thankfully, as United was frustrating the living shit out of me, i could flip over and see the New York Rangers destroy the Washington Capitals. a nice 4-1 win that was really a matter of fact dominating victory. i didn't see the first 10 minutes that everyone said Washington was controlling the game, so technically i don't think it happened. another 5-5 week in fantasy hockey. at least no major injuries to deal with this week.
throw in a little golf, a little NASCAR, a little World Baseball Classic, MLS and another Miami Heat win and you can see i had a full sports pallet this weekend. not that i enjoyed much of it. i sometimes amaze myself at how much i hate losing.
really enjoyed the Sunday night shows. "Girls" really made me laugh. i enjoy this hipster generation and how i just couldn't care to understand it.
a late night dishes session, all done while listening to a little public radio and the rain starting to fall. and seeing how i can barely stand for more than 15 minutes at a time when my back is barking, the 30 minutes to do the dishes was just fucking lovely.
this fucking time change completely surprised me. not that losing a hour of sleep is a big deal to me. just seems to have thrown off my flow for some reason. of course, it could have been the temps near 65 degrees over the weekend. what the fuck is normal anymore?

after some shitty sleep, more on that later, woke up to watch Manchester United in Norway. a rare, entertaining 0-0 game. the other team's goalie made some spectacular saves. the team seems to be rounding into a good form. the season starts in less than 2 weeks.
was very nice to actually see the Yankees win a series for a change. a comfortable 6-2 win. decent pitching by Sweaty Freddy, better pitching by the bullpen, some timely hitting and a long homer from Ibanez. next up are the Tigers and Verlander. great.
watched a little bit of the Olympics today but not much. nothing really worth writing about.
my mind has been in a little of a fog since a phone call early this morning (like 2 a.m. early) from my brother from another mother about his newborn son. didn't really know what was up until this afternoon. looks like the kid will be ok (fingers crossed) as the doctors seem to believe they know what's going on. i suppose time will tell. and hopefully he decides 3 is enough.
some Sunday night tv is in order as i've got all the tedious shit i had to for my book sent off. and then, hopefully, sleep.
