 this almost feels like a battle of cat and mouse. not a damn thing in the mail today i was actually hoping for. this is doing wonders for my stress level.

grocery shopping went ok today. thankfully, i kept it under $200. after i got done with that, i had to take mom to get her new glasses. i am really hoping that now that she can see better, she will have a bit more confidence about everything.

here come the storms...

 we have a wicked cold front getting ready to come through here tonight. it was in the 60's today. they just said on the weather that it won't make it to the 40's tomorrow. good times.

grocery shopping went pretty well today. my pinched nerve didn't fuck with me too much. now, when i got home and mom was still asleep... that was when my pinched nerve decided to be an asshole. but, i got all the groceries in and put away. i got mom a Pecan Snickers bar when i was in the checkout lane. i figured when i saw that she was still asleep, she would eat it for her breakfast at 4 in the afternoon.

the New York Rangers lost last night at home to Calgary, 2-1. if they are going to play like that the rest of the season, they will not make the playoffs.

i did watch some of both games of the First Four last night. Alabama State won with a crazy fucking ending. North Carolina beat the piss out of San Diego St.

tonight, Mount St. Mary's plays American and Xavier plays Texas.

so, another interesting day...

 this morning, the internet went out, as did the home phone line. i made up my mind then to go shit and might as well get the grocery shopping done. thankfully, when i got to the store, they had no problems. so, i was in the parking lot for a bit on my phone. by the time i got home from the first grocery store, everything was working again. all in all, grocery shopping went pretty well today. prices are still too fucking high and i know that won't change anytime soon with Orange Hitler running shit.

 i had to get a prescription for mom so i figured i would just do the grocery shopping today. thankfully, her insurance covered the prescription. that brought it down from over $1,000 to around $180. i got everything that was on the grocery list. plus, i needed to fill up the Highlander. it was a pleasant day out. enough sun that most of the snow has melted. of course, it is supposed to rain tomorrow. that's another reason why i did the shopping today.

well, at least the new battery works...

 the guy from AAA couldn't believe the battery he was replacing last night was 9 years old. he was like, this new one has a 3 year warranty on it. i don't know if it will last 9 years, but it should work great. and it did. the Highlander started right up. that certainly took some stress off of mom's mind. $226 well spent in my mind. the AAA guy was only here about 15 minutes total.

 it snowed overnight here. nothing too bad, but i'm guessing it is a precursor of what is to come this weekend. i wrote 3 poems last night. 1 for the book and 2 for what i guess i am calling the general submissions folder. if i can keep this going, i might actually meet my goal of having this book ready to send to the publisher by late spring/early summer.

team USA defeated Switzerland yesterday at the World Juniors, 7-2. they will play Czechia on Saturday, who knocked out Canada last night for the second year in a row.

Notre Dame defeated Georgia, 23-10, to advance to the college football playoffs seminfinals.

 as a poet that likes to network and get my poetry out there the old fashioned way, word of mouth, actually engaging with humans, i have seen all sides of the ugliness of humanity. what really pisses me off is when someone starts off in a genuine way and then within 3 fucking days, is trying to scam you. part of that makes me laugh because all i have to my name is about $15,000 worth of debt. but still, why pieces of shit are still trying these fucking scams today is just mind blowing to me. of course, it is the holidays, why wouldn't someone be trying to steal pennies from me.

the grocery store went well today. between gas, prescriptions and groceries, i spent close to $400. fuck me.

i did watch team USA yesterday at the World Juniors. they defeated Germany, 10-4.

thank god i only watched about 2 minutes of the NFL game last night. Seattle beat Chicago, 6-3. of course, the spread was 4.

up early for nothing...

 so, i was up at 7 this morning, mostly because i knew i had to get mom up at 9 since Orkin was supposed to be here at 10. i always like having my breakfast done so we're not in each other's way in the kitchen. i made sure the Highlander was outside so they could get up in the attic. it was raining this morning, so basically the Highlander got washed. so, when Orkin got here, i was busy on the computer making sure i had all the coupons loaded on the Kroger card for grocery shopping later on. when i got that done, Orkin was already gone. mom told me he said there are definitely squirrels in the attic. he didn't have a ladder with him because he thought we had pull down stairs. he told mom that someone else would be out here later today to get up in the attic, set some traps, etc. etc. now, i went and did the grocery shopping. i came back this afternoon and knew just by the look on mom's face that no one from Orkin had shown up. two things royally piss me off in this world. ignorance and incompetence. i have no fucking patience for either. i know damn well why they are dragging their feet on getting up in the attic. the contract we signed states that if there is any damage to the insulation or anything up there, they have to pay for all repairs. the squirrels that aren't supposed to be able to survive with the insulation that is up there, have been up there for over a month now. and given that they haven't ended up in the trap attached to the hole they made in the soffit, there has to be another fucking way there are getting in and out. and this is after they swore they fortified the roof as well. now you know why there are no guns in this house.

mom made a scroll for a grocery list today. i got everything. there was no fucking way to keep it under $200 this week. at least i got $3 back on the booze i bought.

 so, i rarely ever go grocery shopping on Tuesdays. today reminded me why. i got what i needed to get at the local grocery store. it was crowded because Tuesday is the day the senior citizens get their discount on their groceries. i was going into a lane and a lady was coming into the lane at the same time. she waved me in and i thanked her with a wave. i started to put my things up to be scanned and she announces to the cashier, i guess ladies first is not a thing anymore, chivalry is dead. i bit my tongue about as hard as i could. paid for my shit and left, mouthing fucking cunt under my breath. why the fuck did you wave me in before you in the first place? this is what i hate about this fucking town. too many cunts here just want something to bitch about. if she would have just gone in front of me because she wanted to, i would have been fine with it. but to make the gesture in the first place and then complain because i take you up on it... anyone know a good town to move to? i'm open to all suggestions.

so, last night was a doozy. i feel like i spent most of the night trying to update my iPhone. that took way fucking longer than it should have. 

the New York Rangers lost last night at home to St. Louis, 5-2. first game they have lost when scoring first this season. also, their third loss in a row. not good.

Dayton lost a heartbreaker last night to North Carolina, 92-90. Dayton pissed away a 21 point lead in the game. just crushing. at least i had Dayton +7.5 in the game. so, i won that bet. tonight Dayton will play Iowa State, who i believe if #5 in the country. North Carolina was #12. and if Dayton happens to lose tonight, they will play UCONN tomorrow, who got upset for the second day in a row. losing to Colorado. they lost to Memphis yesterday.

 i think the muscle relaxers really kicked in last night. there is a period of about 6 hours that i have no damn clue what the fuck was going on. all i know is i was having a golf lesson with Tiger Woods and really needed to piss. that was when i woke up and saw that it was damn near 10 AM. i remember going back to bed around 4 AM. good to know drugs still work.

the grocery stores were packed today. i figured as much. i got everything on the grocery list. plus, some extras for the long holiday weekend. my goal was to get the shopping done and be back home before the rain hit. 5 minutes after i pulled in to the garage, it started to pour. i just wish they had already picked up the damn recyclables. of course, as i told my mother they would do, they left the fucking lids open when they did pick them up. nothing like dumping an inch of water out of the can. fuckers.

the Yankees lost last night at home to the Reds, 5-4. this is quickly turning into, yeah, but did Judge homer again? that answer would be yes. he's now at 32 for the season. on pace to hit something like 66 or so.

i did catch a little of the Copa America games last night. Costa Rica defeated Paraguay, 2-1. Brazil and Colombia played a 1-1 draw. that means Colombia wins the group and will play Panama next. Brazil finished second and will take on Uruguay next. that one should be spicy.

 i actually got sleep last night. a little over 4 hours in my massage chair. i was taking my blood sugar this morning and the news flashed on my phone just as i was watching the Dan Patrick Show.  i suppose i got lucky today that it didn't rain. judging from the forecast, that luck will run the fuck out soon. add on that the tv in the living room is starting to die. good times.

grocery shopping was a little hectic today but i did manage to keep everything under $150. i think that was a good job considering all that was on the grocery list this morning was extra virgin olive oil. that was fun trying to think and shop at the same time.
