i think i got close to 4 hours last night. probably a little over 3 is more likely, but i did feel like i got some sleep when i got up this morning. i got up right before the thunderstorms were going to pound us. the tornado watch has expired but we now have a high wind advisory until tomorrow morning.
the Dayton Flyers pissed away a lead late last night and lost against St. Joe's in overtime, 73-68. that means Dayton will once again miss the NCAA tournament. but, i'm guessing they will get an invite to the NIT, which i wish they would turn down as that should be beneath at this point.
Smackdown was excellent last night.
Real Time with Bill Maher was hilarious last night.
a big thank you to everyone that checked out my latest published poems:
today has been one of those days where my arthritis has been dragging me down. i did make it to Kroger to get the muscle relaxers they ordered for mom. they seem to be working so far. i think she finally got some sleep last night. glad she did, i might have got a good 3 hours. i did get a couple hours this afternoon with ice on my back. always fun to put ice right on your spine and try to freeze all the activity going down the spinal cord. good times.
here are your links for this day of Black History Month:
and here i wanted to be already done with this blog and have most of Christmas put away already. of course, i was going to get up at 7 to do all that. instead, i didn't get up until almost 10. oh well.
i did write 1 poem last night before i took a shower.
the Dayton Flyers defeated St. Joe's last night, 77-72. you would never by the final score Dayton was up by 29 at one point of the game.
Smackdown was very good last night.
Real Time with Bill Maher was excellent last night.

i'm sure i will watch plenty of college basketball and hockey today.
as soon as i get this done, i'm going to start taking down the Christmas decorations.
i should be on here tomorrow before Manchester United plays.

it snowed overnight here. nothing too bad, but i'm guessing it is a precursor of what is to come this weekend. i wrote 3 poems last night. 1 for the book and 2 for what i guess i am calling the general submissions folder. if i can keep this going, i might actually meet my goal of having this book ready to send to the publisher by late spring/early summer.
team USA defeated Switzerland yesterday at the World Juniors, 7-2. they will play Czechia on Saturday, who knocked out Canada last night for the second year in a row.
the New York Rangers won last night at home over Boston, 2-1.
Notre Dame defeated Georgia, 23-10, to advance to the college football playoffs seminfinals.

i have a doctor's appointment this afternoon. after that, i need to go to the grocery store to pick up my prescription and get whatever is on the list.
i will most likely be on here tomorrow in the morning. the Dayton Flyers play on the road tomorrow at noon.
i know we're supposed to have a big winter storm coming through on Sunday night. if that does happen, i'm guessing the grocery store will be a fresh slice of hell today.

it certainly has snowed. and snowed some more. and is now snowing more. oh joy. i laughed when they shoveled our driveway this morning. they'll be back here tomorrow afternoon when all this shit ends to do it again. i think we might get close to 9 inches of snow when this is all done. the way the wind is blowing, it might as well be a fucking blizzard. good times.
NXT Takeover: Vengeance Day was fucking great last night. every match was really good or as close to perfect as humanly possible. and then to close the show with Adam Cole turning heel again and destroying Finn Balor and Kyle O'Reilly... i'm so fucking happy to see what happens next.
Axios was very good last night.
the finale of The Lady and the Dale was very interesting last night.
Last Week Tonight was BRILLIANT as usual.
Shameless was very funny last night.
the finale of Your Honor had a great Oh Shit moment at the end. karma, you beautiful devil...
Desus & Mero was fucking hilarious last night.
Batwoman was very good last night.
The Luminaries was good last night. honestly, i will watch Eva Green in anything she is in.
here are your links for this day of Black History Month:
on the DVR tonight will be The Investigation. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.
i didn't get to bed until 4 this morning. so, of course, i was up again at 9 AM. thankfully, i did fall asleep this afternoon while watching some soccer. i think my brain is trained that certain British voices just put me to sleep.
i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow. i get the feeling it's going to be one of those days that no one will actually want to be outside. and of course, that means i will have to get everything done on Wednesday (bank, grocery shopping, etc.) because there is another storm coming on Thursday. fuck, it feels like we haven't had this kind of winter in over a decade now.
thanks to everyone that checked out my latest published poem:
today has been pretty nice. cool, but warm enough to open up the house a bit and enjoy a light breeze. of course, later in the week there's a chance for snow. fuck me.
both episodes of The Last Dance last night were excellent.
the season finale of Westworld was fucking amazing last night.
the series finale of Atlanta's Missing and Murdered:The Lost Children was rather heartbreaking. it also reinforces my belief that the justice system in this country is built on wins and losses, not innocence or guilt. and i also agree if they would have indicted someone from the KKK for the murders, all hell would have broke loose, especially in 1981.
Insecure was really good last night.
Last Week Tonight was brilliant as usual.
VICE was good last night.
Billions was excellent last night.
Penny Dreadful:City of Angels was pretty good last night.
Batwoman was really good last night.

my right shoulder hurts so fucking much these days that i have to figure out a new way to sleep. i have slept on my right side for years now. unless i drink myself into a coma, that isn't possible anymore. i got no more than 45 minutes trying to sleep that way last night. so, more or less, i just fucking tossed and turned all night. i figure i'll be out in my chair before too long.
the New York Yankees won last night, 6-3. they go for the series win against Minnesota this afternoon. they also made a pretty big trade last night. they somehow got rid of Tyler Clippard, along with 3 prospects, and got back 3 useful pieces from the White Sox; Todd Frazier, David Robertson and Tommy Kahnle. both pitchers used to be with the Yankees and Frazier should give them some much needed help at third and first base.
Smackdown was not as good as i thought it was going to be last night. i figured, going into WWE Battleground this Sunday, the show would be good. so much for that.
205 Live was pretty good last night.
The Jim Jefferies Show last night was fucking hilarious.
Deadliest Catch was really good last night.

i've heard back from a couple places i sent to yesterday, but i don't know which poems are going to be published yet. but the signs are looking good.
i think it's supposed to be yet another hot and sticky day here. i know i need to get some damn bread at the grocery store at some point today. so much for getting that done this morning.

i sent out 15 poems this morning, 5 each to Synchronized Chaos, Your One Phone Call and 48th Street Press. when i hear back from these places i will pass on the verdicts.
i have a fucking headache at the moment, so i'm going to try to write this as quickly as i can.
the New York Yankees lost last night to Toronto 7-1. hopefully the offense can come back alive tonight.
Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night. the main event was much better than the rest of the show. hats off to Seth Rollins, Finn Balor and The Miz for a very memorable main event that also included run ins from Bray Wyatt and Samoa Joe. i thought starting off the show with the women for the first hour was very nice as well.
Gotham was great last night.
The Voice was really good last night. the talent this season is pretty damn deep.
i have no damn clue who will get voted off tonight.

the New York Rangers play Game 3 against Ottawa tonight at home. this is a MUST WIN game. hopefully the players and the coach understands that.
after i went to the bank today, i did another round of grocery shopping. i figured it was going to be expensive since i was getting prescriptions, vitamins, etc. it was only a little bit over $100, so i was pretty happy about that. of course, i figure i'll be going back by the end of the week.
my mother found out today her hip replacement has been moved up a week from the original date. i know that makes my sister happy, as she doesn't have to change any plans now.
i still have trash to pick up here and next door, plus dishes to do, so that's all for me kids.

i got up early this morning so i knew i would be ready for when Manchester United would take on Bournemouth. i'm still sort of in shock that The Special One is now the manager of the club, but, i'll get used to it. United got a gift late in the first half that Juan Mata put in the back of the net. in the second half, United showed some more of what i hope to be is their ruthless side. goals from Wayne Rooney and the man that wants to be God of Manchester. a very good 3-1 win that will hopefully be a sign of things to come. i really think the best player so far this season has been Eric Bailly. i can only dream of the kind of defender he will become one day. the man is already a beast.
the New York Yankees broke out the long ball in historic fashion yesterday. Tyler Austin and Aaron Judge became the first teammates to hit home runs back to back in their first career plate appearances. holy shit, the future looks bright. out of the 5 home runs the Yankees hit yesterday, all of them were hit by guys 26 or younger. that's exactly what i've been screaming for this season. the Yankees won 8-4 yesterday. today, the team will give Mariano Rivera his plaque in Monument Park. and hopefully the team goes out and gets the sweep of Tampa.
ROH last night was excellent. i could watch The Young Bucks wrestle every night for the rest of my life and not get bored.
enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be Big Brother, Power, The Night Of, Ballers, Vice Principals, Last Week Tonight, Ray Donovan and Roadies.
it has been really raining hard here this morning after we hardly got anything yesterday. hopefully the rain will be gone by tonight.
i will probably watch some of the USA men's basketball game against France this afternoon. i really hope they play better than the last two games.
i hope everyone had a great Saturday. hopefully your Sunday will be even better.

i'm not a big fan of crowds, waiting in line, people in general, etc. so when i drove my mother and sister up to Waffle House this morning and the parking lot was full, the first thing i thought was i forgot pen and paper. this is poem making material. now, i have a tendency when i get around people to hear all the conversations going on at once. then i sort of pick and choose what to listen to. so there was one guy that spent all morning mowing grass and there's the other who had a buddy go to Las Vegas to get rich and then the woman coughing up a lung who wanted a little more sugar in her coffee. the only problem with this tendency is i go silent while doing it. so i'm not the greatest companion in this type of situation. good thing both my mother and sister know i'm an asshole, so it's not a big deal. amazingly, we were in and out of Waffle House in a little over 30 minutes. after that, i drove out to the old farm to see the damage. they are still in the process of selling off the old barns; most of the structure of the old hog barn is still up. and to think i spent damn near half my life out at that place. i have to admit, the lane is much better now. the rest, i'm not a fan of.
the New York Yankees put me to sleep yesterday in the first 5 innings. i woke up after all the good shit in the 6th. when i fell asleep they were losing 3-0. when i saw they were winning 4-3 i had to go get the tablet and see what happened. HUGE home runs from McCann and A-Rod gave the Yankees the lead yesterday. they played tack on baseball and eventually won 6-4. that wins the series against Tampa. they now face Baltimore this afternoon. Toronto won again yesterday, so the Yankees have to be in the keep winning mentality, no matter what. after the Baltimore series, the Blue Jays come to town.
the Sunday night shows were good last night. Big Brother was pretty funny. i'm wondering how much of the last two days is going to make the Wednesday show. The Strain was excellent last night. Ray Donovan was excellent as well. it also peeled another layer off the onion last night that should make the rest of the season very interesting. Masters of Sex was good.
i did not sleep well last night at all. i had some horrific dream that i woke up to screaming in my head at 3 in the morning. i believe i talked myself to sleep after that and all i remember is a plane ride with an old girlfriend that ended up crashing. maybe this was all from the chocolate cake last night.
anyone else need some music?
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be Monday Night Raw as i will be watching Ohio State seek some revenge against Virginia Tech. after all that is over, i'm going to try to catch this on the WWE Network:
my sister goes back home today. she's over at my uncle's right now. tomorrow is her birthday. i think she had a better weekend than she thought she was going to.
i hope everyone has a safe and happy Labor Day. enjoy whatever you have planned. watch for the police as they will be out in force trying to catch people drinking and driving. so as usual, either have a designated driver or you better be the designated drunk driver.
for those of you not celebrating a three day weekend, remember that Mondays suck until you break out the vodka. then, not too bad.

i didn't sleep worth a shit last night. i might have got a good 90 minutes of good sleep. i was up every 45 minutes or so after 4 AM. good times. the rain that was supposed to come yesterday came today. and it came with flash flood warnings, hail, 60 mph winds. i don't get as excited for storms here as i did on the farm. this house sits cockeyed on a odd shaped lot to begin with. and i have no porch where i could sit there and watch the storms while breathing in the air. more or less now all i do is wonder if the internet is going to out or not.
i heard back from Carcinogenic Poetry today on the poems i sent last month. they have decided to pass. i also sent a query to Oddball Magazine on the poems i sent two months ago. so far, i'm sitting on 20 some poems that are begging to be sent out. so, if all goes well this week, i am planning on getting some submissions out there.
the New York Yankees won yesterday 8-6. it was so good to see one of the kids do well:
that was the reason so many of us Yankees fans wanted Refsnyder up here from the start of the season. it's very nice that they will start the second half of the season in first place. that hasn't happened in a few years.
i don't know if the weather will allow the MLB home run hitting contest to happen tonight or not. we're supposed to have another line of storms come through in the early evening. i live about 70 miles north of where the All-Star game is happening this year.
enjoy some music kids:
Big Brother was pretty funny last night. True Detective was good and then the shootout happened. that made the episode great. Ballers was pretty funny. The Brink was good. The Strain was fucking great. this season looks like it is going to blow my mind once again. Ray Donovan was pretty good. Masters of Sex was really good. and finally, Last Week Tonight was awesome as usual:
i saw today that Manchester United was busy once again. i love that they have completely rebuilt their midfield in a span of about 30 hours. the combination of Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin should be dynamic. and just look who they are bringing on the tour to the USA:
i would love to see them in Chicago but i know that won't happen. at least i believe all their games over here will be on television.
it's artsy fartsy time kids. please enjoy one of the most amazing artists i have ever seen on YouTube:
if the weather doesn't fuck up the satellite feeds too bad tonight, i'll spend most of the night flipping between Monday Night Raw and the USA vs. Panama Gold Cup game. i expect team USA to take some chances tonight as they have already won the group. i guess most of the regulars will rest and the kids will play this one.
i got some FREE music today on NoiseTrade. i'll provide the link below in the music section.
i hope everyone had a great weekend. my back is telling me that i'm done for the day. so, until tomorrow kids.
be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.
the windows are open, the sun is out (HOLY SHIT, the sun, you still exist), there is a light breeze in the air and this day has napping written all over it.
the New York Yankees thankfully won last night, 9-6. it's a little troubling that supposedly their best pitcher (Tanaka) blew a 6 run lead. but, the bullpen did the job the rest of the way and the offense is finding some hits once again. all in all, it was a tasty victory beer. they play again this afternoon to try to win the series.
i watched Brasil lose to Paraguay yesterday in the Copa America. that was a little stunning. i also watched England beat Canada in the Women's World Cup. that was a bit of a stunner as well. i also watched a little UFC before i just decided to come in my room and find old songs on iTunes the rest of the night. you'll see a couple of those below in the music section.
ROH last night was excellent. the match between Adam Cole and AJ Styles was great. how Adam Cole isn't the WWE by now is a complete mystery to me.
Power was really good. i watched most of it this morning. i really love how the story is building some real drama now. plus, it never hurts to see some tits every now and then.
enjoy a long music break my friends:
if mom doesn't have me do too much shit around the house today (cleaning, hanging shit, another shopping trip) my plan is to relax and nap and get ready for tonight.
tonight will be a long one on the television. one of my favorite shows will air the series finale tonight, Nurse Jackie. hopefully it goes out with a bang. also on Showtime tonight will be the season finale of Happyish and Penny Dreadful. over on HBO will be True Detective, Ballers, The Brink and Last Week Tonight. and starting the night off, that is if golf ends at the scheduled time, will be Big Brother. this cast is just crazy enough to keep me interested.
you may have noticed the broadsides for sale listed on the right hand side of the blog. if you did, please feel free to order a set. if you didn't, now you don't have an excuse.
i woke up this morning and was a little jealous of my friend, Sam Roberts. not only was he up in New England this weekend interviewing some wrestling greats with the beautiful Katie Linendoll, he also got to see this:
lucky bastard.
i hope everyone is having a great weekend. i'm going to pour myself a drink and go enjoy a rare day in June that isn't hot and humid as fuck.

got up this morning and felt like hell. it was raining on and off all night. my right ankle felt like it was broken in about 50 places. but, the past few weeks have really sharpened my pain tolerance. i'm not exactly sure how i'm walking, but i am. after mom and i went to McDonald's for breakfast (probably not the best choice) we went to the farm. i spent almost 18 years out there, trying to build a habitat good for animals, plants, insects, humans, etc. while driving up the lane, the fuckers that bought the farm in the auction (but technically don't own it yet) have taken it upon themselves to make the farm look the way they want it to. all the fencing is gone. all the cats are gone. the trees that were my cousin's father's trees from California are gone. there's these huge piles of wood and trash all over the place. i told mom it's a damn good thing i took the gasoline a few weeks ago or there would already be a few bonfires going on the farm. i put air in the tires of my truck. i'm hoping it goes for something north of $50 in the upcoming auction. we had to break down a few shelving units that we want to use in the garage of the new house. after a few hours, it was more or less time to go. if i don't have to be at the upcoming auction (mom will be out of town), today is probably the last day i will be at the farm. it was sad to see all those damn trees knocked down. the pastures were mowed, which is the first time they were touched in a decade. i kept them high so animals could hunt in them or hide in them while being hunted. i have no clue what the new owners are going to do with the place. i'm pretty sure i won't like it regardless. most of this afternoon i've been thinking of what happened to the cats. my gut tells me they are dead. and not like they were out and about and got caught my another animal dead. like they were caught and killed and dumped somewhere. if i had any guilt in my body, this would be where it would be killing me. but i don't. part of the asshole gene i suppose. just a few more weeks and all of this will be over.
i did watch most of the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame inductions last night. it was cool to see Joan Jett play. hard to believe Green Day has been around that long. plus, i loved the induction of Stevie Ray Vaughn. between him and Lou Reed, the tears of nostalgia were flowing last night.
the Stanley Cup Final is set. Chicago vs. Tampa Bay. sadly, my dream final has always been Chicago vs. New York Rangers. what could have been.
ROH last night was so damn good i watched it again this afternoon. the buildup between Jay Lethal and Jay Briscoe has been excellent. i can't wait to see that match.
the weather has cooled down a bit today. of course, it took a day or two of rain to have that happen.
time for a music break:
the New York Yankees got some great relief pitching last night and a few clutch hits to win 5-3. they go for the split this afternoon.
after the game, i'll probably go right to watching the WWE Network. i am really looking forward to the Elimination Chamber matches tonight. hopefully, Kevin Owens will destroy John Cena. plus, the two chamber matches for the titles tonight should be amazing. hopefully i'll have plenty of videos to share tomorrow.
so on the DVR tonight will be Nurse Jackie, Happyish, Penny Dreadful, Silicon Valley, Veep and Last Week Tonight. i figure i'll watch a few after the wrestling and then catch up with the rest either Monday morning or afternoon.
while going through some shit last night, mom came across a thank you note sent to both of us back in 1981. it came from one of the hostages that was in the Iran hostage crisis back in 1979/1980. as you might imagine, i wasn't the normal 4 or 5 year old. being able to read at 2, i was fully aware of current events by the age of 4. hell, by 8 i was reading at a college level. not sure where i'm going to keep this letter, but it will find a place somewhere in this house.
that's all for me today. i hope everyone is having a great weekend. hopefully the sun is out where you are.
be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

we had a cold front come through last night and i've been completely miserable ever since. but the world doesn't stop for my misery, so neither can i.
i sent out 3 poems today to Oddball Magazine. when i hear back from them i'll pass on the verdict.
sometimes when i wake up in the morning, my left leg doesn't want to work. i'm supposing it's all the damn scar tissue i have in it. let me tell ya, between blood clots, arthritis and a bad back, i don't know which fucking jewel i'd like to give someone else first. so, what i try to do on these morning is go out and feed the birds. that way, if i fall, maybe one of these nosey ass neighbors will see and come help. good times.
i've been diving into plenty of music the last couple of days. i'll be sure to include links below to the FREE music i got from iTunes and NoiseTrade.
the New York Yankees broke out the long ball last night to help CC get his first win in over a year. the 11-5 win gives them the most wins in the American League. hopefully they can keep it going.
The Voice last night was pretty good. i thought the performances were good but i only bought one of the songs:
i'm interested to see who gets voted off tonight. i really think it will come down to Meghan and Sawyer to win it all.
Men in Blazers was pretty funny last night.
Monday Night Raw had some really good moments and some not so good. here's what i did like:
i'll give it up to Cena for really making the younger guys look so good. it still would be nice to see him lose on television at some point, but i'll take the small details for now.
Cesaro is a guy that should be one of the biggest stars in the world. here's hoping that some of the new guys on the creative staff push that idea big time.
if they do this right, this has comedy gold written all over it.
and i truly hope this isn't the last time i see this guy in a ring:
all in all, it was a decent show to go into a ppv this Sunday. i did like the announcement that the Elimination Chamber was coming back as well.
here's a little late night laughs for you:
and a sad music break:
tonight on the DVR will be Deadliest Catch, The Voice and the season finale of Undateable. hopefully it will be as good as the live episode was last week.
that's really all for me today. i need to shower and get some writing done. now, which will come first?
hope this finds everyone with a dirty thought in their mind and a cool drink in their hand.
