i woke up this morning after yet another restless evening. i wasn't expecting to have 6 poems published this morning. i always joke, no one hates success as much as i do. i can feel the rain coming in my bones. this is going to be one of those days where i'll give the side eye to my 8 year old self and acknowledge, yes, i know, death would have been the better choice.
the New York Yankees won last night at Minnesota, 5-1. hopefully, they will win again tonight.
here are your highlights from the NHL playoffs last night:
here are your highlights from the NBA playoffs last night:
The Voice was a little surprising last night. i now have only 1 contestant in the finals.
NXT was really good last night.
The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon 10th Anniversary Special was pretty funny last night.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be AEW Dynamite, Abbott Elementary, The Masked Singer and NJPW.
i'm sure i will watch some of the NBA and NHL playoffs tonight.
after i take mom to her doctors appointment, i will do the grocery shopping and go to the bank. i'll probably have to get gas as well.
Manchester United plays Newcastle this afternoon. i will hopefully miss the game.
a big thank you to everyone for checking out the poems that got published today:
i didn't sleep well at all last night. i was up twice before 4 AM. at that point, i went upstairs to stretch and hopefully relax enough that i would fall asleep. what i did was get my back relaxed enough that i actually had to take a shit. that's always fun. needless to say, i eventually took a decent nap this afternoon. and then i woke up to this news.
i was in a panic to say the least. i don't trust the reporter that first reported it, so i immediately got online and hoped that someone would refute it. of course, that didn't happen. so, now the New York Rangers are without their starting goalie for the next 3 weeks or so. great. i guess we'll see just how good Cam Talbot really is. if he can keep the team in the playoff race and right there fighting for first in the division, i will be thrilled. i do expect the team will bring someone in as a veteran backup. or, maybe they roll the dice with the younger kid as the backup. this weekend should be interesting for them.
happy birthday to the muse today. i hope you have a wonderful evening.
if all goes as planned (when the fuck does that happen), my television viewing is set for tonight. first up will be the Dayton Flyers at George Washington. this will be a tough one but a game that if Dayton plays their best, they CAN win. i believe they are the underdog tonight, which i love. hopefully i'll be enjoying a victory beer tonight.
next up will be some NJPW on AXS TV. that should be good.
after that will be the new episode of Treehouse Masters. i believe this episode was filmed in Kentucky, so that should be interesting.
i saw this last night and i quickly realized that technology has passed me by:
The Big Bang Theory was really good last night. thank god i never started writing fan fiction.
i will be on here tomorrow after the birthday party i'm going to with my sister. it's a surprise so it should be interesting. i haven't seen this person for a long time.
i hope everyone has a great weekend. may your drinks be cold and may your women be hot. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.
be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

i'm going to try to make this a fast one as it feels like i've been on the damn computer all day long.
my left leg is swollen. i want to believe that it is from when i hit it on the dishwasher. but, given my history with blood clots, there's a decent chance that i will be going to the doctor much sooner than my next scheduled visit. unless of course, shit changes real soon.
the New York Rangers played a whole 60 minutes last night. it was like a playoff game. even without The King in goal, the boys played like it actually mattered last night. needless to say, i was pretty happy drinking that victory beer after a 3-2 win over Boston. here are some highlights from last night:
Lucha Underground was excellent once again last night. here are some highlights:
and to top off everything last night:
needless to say that brought back a ton of memories.
i plan on watching The Big Bang Theory, probably some pro wrestling, maybe some basketball, and god knows what else tonight.
i don't think the cats were ready for the snow we got last night. at least i didn't have to break up any frozen water. i figure that will be different tomorrow. it was just enough snow to fuck up everything.
mom got some good news about the farm today. i won't go into the details, but let's just say we'll have an easier time selling the place now.
i'll be on here sometime tomorrow, probably the afternoon. maybe the morning. whenever, it will be long before the Dayton Flyers play tomorrow. not sure why they are playing on Friday night. that brings back some memories of high school basketball. and then that takes me back to parking lot brawls and sneaking in alcohol. good times.
thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.
be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

it seems like my old ass can't stay up past midnight anymore. if life truly begins at 40, then i guess at 39 i'm regressing back to the embryo. i'm chalking it up to the two victory beers. but, my tolerance hasn't got that soft, has it? i guess the birthday party i'm going to this weekend will truly let me know. it's been so long since i've been drunk in public. maybe i'll have to just let loose.
i heard from the muse last night. it's always good to hear her voice although i know any call out of the blue from her means chaos has taken place. this was no different. maybe one day she'll enjoy the quiet life with some crazy poet in Ohio that loves her.
i also heard from my friend in California this morning. she's doing much better it seems.
i start getting poems published left and right and people start contacting me. the world is a funny fucking place at times.
tonight is a bit of a clusterfuck for me. Lucha Underground and the New York Rangers game will be on at the same time. the Rangers starting goalie is out with headaches from the shot he took to the throat two games ago. i fear that he has a concussion. hopefully. he doesn't. i guess we'll see just how good the backup really is now. New York is playing Boston tonight. it will be a tough game.
as for Lucha Underground, i think this is going to be yet another good episode. as one friend put it on Google+ recently, it's a great time to be a wrestling fan.
for those that are interested, i'm doing much better dealing with my shoulder pain. i'm still sleeping in the damn chair, but at least i'm getting just as much sleep as i got in my bed. i do try to get in my bed a little each day. mostly to stretch and jerk off.
enjoy that visual.
there is supposedly some snow moving in here tonight and then it's going to get cold. some genius on the television today said that the teens were bitter cold. i laughed. the teens around here is called winter. get to -30 to -40 and then you have bitter cold. i'm becoming the bitter old man, i can feel it.
i'll be on here sometime tomorrow. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

when i got up this morning, thankfully the sun was out. it was almost 10 degrees outside. i'm pretty sure it got close to zero last night... i know the wind chill certainly was. an old house can tell you that in a heartbeat. we made it to 21 degrees today as the high. i'm glad we have skipped over 2 months of weather and just went right into January. fuck me running.
i went out to feed the cats today and one of the young ones was dead. this is why i don't name them before they survive a winter out here. i will be very thankful when i no longer have any pets to care for. i didn't like it as a child and i can't say my thoughts have changed as an adult. of course, i'll have to find something else to write poems about. i guess i'll have to start talking to people again. god help me.
the New York Rangers had their asses handed to them last night, 5-1. what a god awful game to watch. Tampa Bay outplayed them for 60 fucking minutes. thankfully, i had other things to watch. the Rangers play again tomorrow night against the Flyers. hopefully, they will decide to put forth a little effort, unlike last night.
Monday Night Raw was a clusterfuck. i thought a couple of the matches were good but the booking right before a major ppv was shitty, and that's being kind. if Ryback is supposed to be the man once again, then why is Cena putting HHH through a table? it's the little things that this creative staff just pisses away and they can't understand why it makes a difference. the ppv on Sunday is FREE and i'm still not watching it. and what truly sucks is the company has the talent to have some of the greatest shows on Earth. a damn shame.
Gotham was great last night. a nice little twist at the end that made me smile. that should make for some great television for the fall finale next week.
i caught bits and pieces of The Voice last night and this morning on YouTube. nothing truly blew me away so i'm not sure who's going to make the top 10 tonight.
i did enjoy The Roots and Jimmy Fallon filling in for U2 last night. hopefully they do something cool like that each night.
and i managed to stay up late enough to catch Metallica as they begin their week long residency on Craig Ferguson's show.
that was fun to fall asleep to.
tonight i'll be watching The Voice and maybe some college basketball. i suppose i'll try to catch some hockey as well as my fantasy team tries to dig out of the hole that came from last night.
this afternoon i watched Ireland's B team absolutely destroy the USA 4-1. what a fucking waste of an afternoon. that was certainly not how i wanted 2014 to end for them. hopefully the World Cup hangover doesn't last for most of 2015 as well.
we're supposed to get some snow again tomorrow. so i'll probably try to get into town early so i don't have to deal with that shit. they didn't do much at all to the roads out here in the sticks. of course, when i got into town to go to the post office, it was like driving on freshly paved roads. that's certainly one thing i will enjoy moving away from the farm. you know you've been on one too many country roads in your life when the first thing you think when you see snow is turn into the skid.
that's all for me today. hope you are warm wherever you may be. all 3 of you. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.
be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

i watched a little of the NFL press conference this afternoon. i truly loved that the players were roasting the commissioner on Twitter as the press conference was going on. it was a complete waste of time watching some asshole blow smoke up everyone's ass hoping that all the problems of the league would get lost in the fog. hopefully the calls for him to resign get louder now. this is what happens when you get so damn rich that you don't understand how the rest of the world works, let alone, thinks. pathetic.
i heard back from Jeremiah yesterday on my poetry submission to Fuck Art, Let's Dance. they decided to pass on this submission.
while we're on the topic of poetry, i wrote 2 new poems last night. i typed them up this afternoon. i think they are pretty good. i have enough poems for another round of submissions in the next week or so. i haven't decided where those are going yet.
the NFL game last night was a blowout, so i didn't bother with much of it. the college game was ok, but most of my night was spent on baseball.
the Yankees won last night 3-2 in a walkoff in the bottom of the ninth. it never should have gotten to that, but, ego is the worst enemy of a pitcher sometimes. Jeter was up to his old tricks, hitting his first home run at the stadium in over a year. i have a feeling he's going to pull out all the stops on this last home stand. they play again tonight. given who they are facing, they should win.
Married and You're the Worst were both really good last night. Married really got better as the season went on. You're the Worst has been excellent right from the start. hopefully both of them come back for another season.
tonight i'll be watching the new episode of Big Brother. other than that, i'll be thinking of the other places i'd like to be. Shrug is playing their 20th anniversary show tonight. i'd love to go, but i have no money. the high school i graduated from is playing the rich white kids tonight in a rare matchup of two recent state powers. that would be a fun one to go to.
i actually shaved and showered today for the first time since we got all the water problems figured out. what a fucking difference. i almost got knocked over in the shower with the water pressure. enjoy that visual.
had the pleasure of watching this lovely black woman cum this afternoon while riding a dildo like she was in the rodeo. that should make for an interesting poem.
i'll be back on here sometime in the morning tomorrow. Ohio State is off this weekend, so i can sit back and just watch the games with no emotional attachment to them. thank god i quit gambling.
hope everyone has a great weekend. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

i was really looking forward to the Manchester United game this afternoon until i saw the names Cleverley and Young in the lineup. i just can't understand what the fuck David Moyes is doing. it is now at the point where it is fucking baffling. if the asshole had a soul or an ounce of respect for the fans of the club, he'd step down and apologize. it is beyond fucking clear that he can't handle the pressure of being the manager of this club. now, i know damn well he won't step down as he has 5 1/2 years left on that contract and he wants every fucking penny due on it. i don't know if i can stomach watching this club become just average. oh, by the way, they lost 2-0 today to a team that wasn't playing all of their regular players. and quite frankly, United should have lost by more. they absolutely fucking sucked today. from the manager on down to the players to god knows who else. they all fucking sucked.
now that that is out of my system, on with the show...
like an old man, i fell asleep watching wrestling last night. i missed most of The Voice and probably half of Monday Night Raw. thankfully, by the time the late night shows were over, what i missed was on YouTube. The Voice is back on tonight. i will be in and out of that as the Dayton Flyers are playing tonight. i really hope they win or this day will just be a total fucking waste.
i did watch the first episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers. it almost felt like a long Saturday Night Live skit. i guess with Amy and Fred there, that was inevitable. i think Seth will do fine with the show, but i can imagine it taking awhile to get his legs firmly on the ground. the set did make me laugh as it screamed of a public access show set. if that becomes a running gag, i'm all for it. though, i do imagine i will be checking out CBS more often now that Jimmy Fallon is at 11:30.
i'd like to address the countless number of people that have invited me to join Twitter. if the day ever comes that i get a cell phone, an idea i have resisted for more than a decade, i will give in and join. but not until then. so unless one of you want to buy me a smart phone, it's not happening anytime soon.
the polar vortex is making another appearance here in the next few days. windchill below zero again and snow that needs to be shoveled by the weekend. i guess i'll start getting my back ready now. joy.
i should have known today was going to go south on me the moment i was wiping my ass this morning and i started to shit again while wiping. enjoy that lovely visual right around dinner time.
that's all for me. i'm off to go have some dinner and get ready to watch some basketball. and hopefully not be angry again later tonight.
be well. be creative. be smart enough not to write any death threats on a public forum to a public figure. be lucky with how you deal with that anger. be a calm drunk. be ready to smoke a bong.

i figured i would write this before i go to feed the cats. that also means i'm writing this before i go put on 2 more layers of clothes.
last night i truly felt like an old man. had a victory beer and next thing i know i'm waking up at 4 in the morning. i'm not mixing booze and pills mind you, but i certainly didn't expect 1 beer to knock me out for 3 1/2 hours.
the New York Rangers played a back and forth game last night that had me cussing like a sailor, mostly because i had to listen to the call from the Pittsburgh announcers. what a bunch of minor league hacks. needless to say i was fucking thrilled when the Rangers won and shut those 2 fuckers up for awhile. a 4-3 win in a shootout. a great way to head into the Olympic break.
as for the Winter Olympics, i only saw the part of the opening ceremony where there was a fuck up. of course, Russian tv never showed that. glad to see some things never change. i did watch the USA play Finland in women's hockey this morning. at least part of it. the rest of my morning has been pills and European soccer.
Dayton plays at St. Bonaventure this afternoon. i don't like their chances, but i'd love to be wrong. the game is supposed to be on television, but not on DIRECTV. so, it looks like i'll be pacing and listening on the radio. i suppose that will be my exercise for the day.
i did type up the 2 poems i wrote the other day this morning. i also figured out how to solve a paper jam on the new printer. that was fun for my bad left arm. anywho, love the new poems. i will be sending them out once i get off my lazy ass and get the 15 poems i need to send out for that poetry project. that might be my goal for this evening.
i did watch the tree house show last night on animal planet. have to admit, never thought of having one on a cliff of a beach. that was pretty funny and cool to watch.
other than the Olympics tonight, i suppose there will be some hockey and some college basketball. and if i truly get bored, it will be whatever my mother wants to watch. or, the novel concept of me actually just sleeping.
hope everyone is well. the cats are waiting for me. hope today is the start of a great weekend for you, and maybe for me as well.
peace.

i nearly got 4 hours of sleep in a row last night. i was sort of shocked to say the least. maybe it is all due to the impending visit to the doctor. i don't know, but i did feel somewhat refreshed this morning.
American Horror Story was excellent last night. i always love a season finale where i don't see the ending coming. i loved this season. might even have to get it on DVD sometime.
i might have watched a few minutes of Duck Dynasty last night. from what i saw, it was much better than the previous weeks.
the Dayton Flyers lost on a last second three last night, 60-57. this season has slowly turned into a nightmare. they overcame a 15 pt second half deficit to lose to a 3 from the exact same spot that USC beat them from earlier in the year. of course, if they wouldn't have started the second half with their heads up their asses, they would have won. Dayton was up by 5 at halftime. thank god i didn't go. i would have cut my arm off by now.
thankfully, the New York Rangers beat the fucking Islanders last night, 2-1 in Yankee Stadium. the Rangers are now 3-0 in outdoor games. not too shabby. they play again on Friday night. hopefully i will get to watch it. i have to say, the games at Yankee Stadium were a complete success.
the highlight from last night was this bit of nostalgia on Jimmy Fallon:
tonight, i'm looking forward to a new episode of The Big Bang Theory. looks like my inner geek will enjoy this one. also, i think there is a Saturday Night Live sports special as well. between that and trying to forget my arm really fucking hurts, my night is set.
my doctor's appointment is at 10 am tomorrow morning. i'm planning on being a good boy and waking up early and feeding the cats before i go to the doctor. i'm assuming i will be having tests in the afternoon or so, so i will get back on here whenever i get the chance tomorrow. hopefully full of drugs and good news.
hope everyone is well. and warm. and sick of fucking winter.
music:

when i went out this morning to feed the cats i didn't bother to look to see how cold it was. i knew it was COLD. i had on 5 layers and was determined to spend no more time outside than i absolutely had to. might be the quickest i have fed the cats in years. when i got back in, i checked to see how cold it really was. -11 degrees and a windchill of -38 degrees. well, at least the sun was out.
we probably only got an inch of snow yesterday. but, the inch of rain we got froze about as quick as i have ever seen anything freeze. thankfully, i did put out some ice melter when i woke up this morning. the stuff said it worked down to -7 degrees. it was -4 at the time. true enough, it melted the ice. that made me really happy and confident i could get out to the cats without falling on my ass and breaking something.
as for the birds, i threw out some birdseed for them on the ground. there's no use putting any in the feeders as the wind would just whip all of it down to the ground. it hasn't been this cold here since 1994. and i don't think the temps are done going down. but, it's supposed to be near 40 by the end of the week. just about as everyone will be sick with something. good times.
i did manage to get one playoff game right over the weekend as i called the 49ers win over the Packers. hopefully i do better this coming weekend.
my fantasy hockey team shit the bed this past week. and i got news this morning of an injury to one of my key players. hopefully it's not really serious. thankfully, i still have a 10 game lead in my division.
i did watch that Jimmy Fallon special last night. i had seen most of the stuff they covered. all i really hope is he does the same silly shit on The Tonight Show. might actually have to switch over from Letterman if that happens.
the New York Rangers play tonight at home against Columbus. not thrilled that i have to watch the Columbus broadcast of the game. hopefully the Rangers can actually start playing good at home for a change.
i am looking forward to the old school Monday Night Raw tonight. that should be a fun swim in the rivers of nostalgia.
other than that, my main focus will be staying warm tonight. i'm contemplating sleeping out in my chair as that room stays much warmer than my bedroom. of course, i might not sleep at all as i'll probably be up making sure the pipes don't freeze. good times.
a big hello to whomever is finding this blog in Russia. i'm hoping it's more than one person as there has been more than 300 hits in the last week from Russia. or, hello to my stalker from Russia. hope you enjoy.
that's all for me. i would type more but the heater out here in the computer room sucks. so i'm off to my chair in the only room in this old house that has adequate insulation. that's the joy of a cold winter on a farm. you'll always have a few layers on, inside or out.
hope everyone is warm and drunk. be well.
music:

so i woke up this morning to snowflakes and the need to take a shit for the first time in 41 hours. thankfully, it was just a dusting, the snow that is. the shit was like dropping boulders off a skyscraper. painful for those below.
changed our water filter today. amazingly, it wasn't nearly as bad as i feared it would be after 2 weeks. maybe it's slowly getting back to normal.
back on the winter tip, another damn freeze warning here tonight. i'm typing this as i sit and look at the corn still in the damn field. not good.
watched Manchester United in Champions League play this afternoon. had a bad feeling about today as 3 main pieces were missing from the team. not even on the bench. thankfully, United started out strong and got a lucky own goal to go ahead just 69 seconds in the game. i thought this will be the game they break out of their doldrums. shows what i know. they created chance after chance, hit a couple more posts, but didn't score. thankfully, the opponent never scored either. i'll gladly take the 3 points and the victory beer. but, this team needs to wake the fuck up soon. and in case anyone wonders why most of the United fans have been begging for Kagawa to be playing, today was the perfect example of why he should always be in the lineup. perhaps Moyes saw that or maybe he was sitting on his hands wondering where he was coaching once again.
i did watch the African Americans on PBS last night. being the history junkie that i am, i was very interested in it. and by not choosing to live my life as an ignorant white American, i pretty much knew everything that was talked about in it. but, it was still a good episode. i do plan on watching the entire series.
The Voice was pretty good last night though the battle round i wanted to see was just a 30 second highlight. the knockout rounds should be pretty interesting. i don't think any surprises made it this far so far.
tonight is the season finale of Duck Dynasty. also, i will be watching American Horror Story. hopefully both of those episodes are good tonight. i might flip to the World Series tonight. might not. i really don't care.
always fun to get on the internet after a few hours away and realize your favorite goalie, who happens to be your starting goalie in fantasy hockey as well, is injured and won't even be on the bench tomorrow night. i always feared this road trip to start this season was going to become the trip from hell for the New York Rangers. with Nash, Cally, and the King now all injured, my fears have become one shitty reality. not good.
i didn't get all the guys i wanted for fantasy football. so, this morning basically became a scramble to get some decent guys. on one team, i have 5 guys on a bye week. that was fun. hopefully my picks pay off for me.
with it being Pearl Jam week on Jimmy Fallon this week, i've been getting to sleep a little later than normal. if i have any energy left after one of these nights, maybe i'll do some writing. i know i need to bust out a few here soon.
that's pretty much all for today. be sure to check out the new podcasts on the right hand side of this blog. some really good ones in case you need to fill some time in your day with a distraction or two. hope this finds everyone well.
music:
Metallica - Master of Puppets
Rage Against The Machine - Evil Empire

i kind of got back into my ritual of when Manchester United plays a game mid-week. a big breakfast, plenty of music, some mindless internet surfing and then settle down for the game. i thought the team Moyes put out was better than the debacle over the weekend. still would like to see a stronger midfield, but sadly, this team doesn't have those players. Chicharito scores in the second half for the 1-0 win over Liverpool in Capital One Cup play. i will enjoy that victory beer for sure.
the Yankees last night played about as listless as i have seen them all season. so, with their season hanging in the balance, the ball goes to Phil Hughes. that pretty much sums up this season perfectly. any Yankee loss or Cleveland win for the rest of the season and the Yankees are eliminated from playoff contention. hopefully they put this miserable season to bed this evening.
The Voice last night was really good. i heard a couple voices that i think really have a chance to win it all. from what i have seen so far, looks like it will be another great season for the show.
i laughed my ass off last night watching Jimmy Fallon. here is why:
no new Duck Dynasty tonight so i get to watch The Bridge at the normal time. i'm really looking forward to this episode tonight. judging from the preview, it should be a good one.
i didn't get all the guys i wanted in fantasy football. so i'm going to have to do some scrambling here before rosters need to be set by tomorrow.
i'm hoping to do some writing tonight. i want to have a few new poems to choose from to send out some submissions early in October.
that's pretty much all for now. hope this finds everyone in a relaxed position, a cold one in your hand, and the deviant of your choice asking for more.
music:
Metallica - Ride The Lightning

so, i finally got a chance to listen to the new Nine Inch Nails album, hesitation marks, today. holy shit, i was blown away. i got the deluxe edition and am absolutely happy i spent the extra money for it. in my opinion, the best NIN album in years. really blew me away. especially the song All Time Low. that to me ranks up there with most of the iconic NIN songs from my teenage years. so, needless to say, Trent started a little creative fire inside of me. and, the brain got going and below is my latest YouTube video:
one of my favorite poems from my book Sofisticated White Trash. dark and funny. might be my promo video to try to increase sales for the holiday season.
so, as i was watching the Yankees listlessly swing and miss at pitch after pitch last night, i was flipping through the channels. watched much more of the Big Brother finale than i thought i would. i'm ok with Andy winning, though i don't like the fact that they missed the chance to drag these assholes over the coals for the TMZ fires they started all season long. that would have made for great tv.
Duck Dynasty was pretty funny last night. i remember when i had my wisdom teeth pulled. sadly, i woke up in the middle of it. didn't ask to go back under, just enjoyed the pain. i'm a sick one.
flipped back to the Yankees just as they were waking the fuck up in the 8th inning. went from down 3-0 to winning 4-3 out of nowhere. Mo made it interesting in the 9th, but that simply made the victory beer more gratifying than normal. a much needed win. hopefully they can get the series win this evening.
The Bridge last night was excellent. some death, a few more twists, and at least one viewer wondering what the fuck this show has left in the last 2 episodes. truly a brilliant show.
i do have a WR for the Chiefs going tonight, so i guess i'll watch some of the NFL game tonight. tried my best to make some minor fantasy moves today to hopefully make the games closer than they should be.
we actually got some rain and thunder this morning right after i woke up at 6:45 AM. wasn't expecting that at all. glad the a/c is fixed. it's going to be muggy as hell the next few days, so it will come in handy.
if the creative fire keeps burning, i might write some poetry this evening. or, i'll just keep fucking with my LinkedIn account until i like it again.
hope this finds everyone well. hope you enjoy my new video. if you haven't already, BUY THE BOOK.

not quite sure why i was up before the sun on a Saturday morning, but i was. figure i would bust out this post before this day gets hectic.
the New York Yankees won again last night, but it was a costly victory. lose the starting catcher in the first inning with a broken hand. lose the starting pitcher in the 3rd with a sore elbow (never good) and still manage to win 6-4. Mo made it a little too close in the 9th, but i'll take it. looks like the ghosts are going to have to work a little harder than normal this year for this team to even sniff a chance at the playoffs. of course, i'd rather have all these injuries now than in 5 months.
the New York Rangers play their final game of the season later this afternoon. i would prefer them to win this game and hopefully get a better playoff position. but mostly, i'm hoping they come out of the game without any injuries. they are a little too banged up as it is already.
i'm still trailing in fantasy hockey 6-4 as it's coming down to the last 2 days of the season. for me to pull off this miracle championship, i'm going to have to pull out all the stops. not much sleep for me in the next 2 days i guess.
the poet of the day on my Google+ page is Catfish McDaris. Catfish is one of the poets i always looked up to when i first got into this racket. it's good to see he's still going today. a quick search should give you plenty of links.
the NFL Draft got a little more interesting last night as some of the bigger name players started going. the look on my mother's face when the Jets took another quarterback was classic. i think not having a favorite NFL team may be one of my best decisions ever.
that was what i fell asleep to. perhaps i now know why i could only sleep a few hours.

yesterday was not a good sporting day for me. spent the afternoon watching the Dayton Flyers lose to Butler. they did what they have done all season, tease. play good, get some rebounds, get some stops, get a lead, make stupid turnovers, quit playing smart defense, panic when the lead goes away, dig out of the hole, rinse, repeat, lose. a fitting end to one fucking frustrating season. 17-14. one less win than i thought they would have after watching the first few weeks of the season. well, hopefully next year will be better, regardless of what conference they are in.
after dinner and The Big Bang Theory, i sat down to watch the New York Rangers. yet another lifeless game where they couldn't capitalize on any chances in what was basically a playoff game in Winnipeg.
that went off just in time to flip over and watch team USA lose in the World Baseball Classic.
as you could imagine, i was a little less than pleased when i went to bed last night. thankfully, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon has been pretty damn good all week. that has helped get rid of some of the tension at least.
i woke up this morning to 3 deer walking across the front field. it was just light enough that i could see them. i doubt my camera would have been able to get them. hopefully one day i'll have the damn thing on me when i see some wildlife out here.
at least the New York Yankees won a meaningless spring training game this afternoon. no victory beers for that though.
as for the weekend, tomorrow will be a double dipper of the Rangers playing in Pittsburgh and Manchester United playing a classic trap game against Reading. both are on at the same time basically. i get the feeling i'll be watching United more to begin with. if both lose, this weekend will be a little hard to escape a complete shit storm. so, hopefully one will win at the very least.
i've got to come up with a little money to get some poems out. i figure i will be selling off some music, if the truck gets me to the music store. fingers will be crossed for the next few days. for the truck and for the weather. at least it made it to the 40's finally. of course, there might be snow on St. Patrick's Day.
also on the 17th is Selection Sunday. i'll get to find out which teams i'll be watching in person over the next week at the UD Arena. hopefully some good ones with some decent fan bases. or some rivals would be nice as well. any emotion makes the games pretty fun. especially when you're only rooting interest is whatever your bracket is. i'm going to win a damn bracket challenge sometime before i die. and by the looks of things, i better get to it quickly.
hope everyone has a great weekend. be safe and enjoy the alcohol.
music today:
The Allman Brothers Band - Eat A Peach
Lenny Kravitz - Mama Said
JD McPherson - Signs & Signifiers

wanted to come back to this blog and gloat after a Yankee sweep of the Red Sox but sadly they only took 3 of 4. but, anytime the Red Sox can be in last place at the All Star break, i'm a pretty happy boy.
didn't watch much of the home run derby, especially after Robinson Cano put up a big fat ZERO. no need to watch after that.
after a few days of over 100 the heatwave finally fucking broke. nearly 2 weeks of 90+ every damn day broke to only 87 today. of course, we're nearly 9 inches below where we should be for precipitation for the year so far. i get the feeling we would have been better off growing dirt this year. thank god for crop insurance i suppose. and thank god the heatwave was just about broken when the a/c decided to go out.
managed to write 4 poems over the last few days. actually think they are pretty good. want to write another batch before i think of another round of submissions. i'm also toying with the thought of entering this poetry contest i got a postcard about in the mail today.
laundry day today (Monday). also a nice trip to the bank to deposit my rebate check for my health care (thank you Mr. President).
music that sneaked into my ears:
Ana Tijoux - La Bala
Bruce Springsteen - Darkness on the Edge of Town
Tom Waits - Orphans (Brawlers, Bawlers & Bastards)
speaking of Tom Waits, great appearance on Letterman tonight. he's going to be on Jimmy Fallon Tuesday night.
