afternoon thunderstorms

i was just starting to write this when the news that Chester Bennington committed suicide today broke. the fucking eerie part for me is that today is Chris Cornell's birthday. and when someone that is as old as me does die, i'm torn. should i be mournful or jealous? i never really got into Linkin Park. but as i have grown older, i have learned to appreciate anyone that has tried to share their creativity with the world. i do hope he and his family will find whatever peace that is out there for them.

the New York Yankees lost yet again yesterday, 6-1. that's another damn series lost. that's also the first series they have lost to the Twins in 9 years i believe. the Yankees start a 4 game series tonight in Seattle.

Big Brother was pretty good last night. i do think that Dominique will get evicted tonight, although i'm sure there will be some producer shenanigans going on.

Lucha Underground was really good last night.

NXT was excellent last night.

Snowfall was fucking great last night. i think FX has another winner on their hands.

the USA has not played well at all in the Gold Cup. i am somewhat surprised they have made into the semifinals. i really shouldn't be that surprised given the shitty soccer in this region if you don't play for Mexico, USA, Costa Rica or Panama. El Salvador did their best last night to turn the game into a complete shit show. 2 late USA goals in the first half made the second half mostly unwatchable. how the fuck El Salvador got away with biting and punching and never getting called for it is beyond me. but, the victory puts the USA against Costa Rica Saturday night in the semifinals.

Lip Sync Battle was pretty good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Big Brother and 30 for 30 George Best: All By Himself.

that 30 for 30 will be on right before Manchester United takes on Manchester City. i think this is the first time they have played the Manchester derby in the USA. hopefully United will win.

my pain has been pretty bad today. i only got 4 hours of sleep last night. and my arthritis has been fucking with me since i woke up. this rain this afternoon did me no fucking favors. hopefully it cooled everything down. that would be nice.

i still have to take a shower before i take mom to her physical therapy session.

i will probably be on here tomorrow after my trip to the grocery store. i believe mom is going to have a scroll for me. she's spent the last few days looking through cookbooks. i'll be interested to see what a woman with cataracts in both eyes wrote down for ingredients.

be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

peace and chicken grease...

the phone won't stop ringing

i never question why anyone commits suicide in the state of Ohio around this time of year. you can't escape the political ads at all. the phone won't stop ringing, every other commercial is some horseshit approved by someone, the radio is filled with them. thank god i have a ton of CD's i can listen to and try to avoid this fucking mess. just wish i had some good headphones...

watched the Yankees play themselves to sleep last night in Toronto. what a fucking bore. now, if they really want to win the division, which i question from time to time, they basically need to win all 6 games left in the season. the chances of that happening are slim and fucking none. and slim just slit her wrists.

nice to see the real refs back in the NFL. now i can at least watch guys with experience get the calls wrong.

the sun is trying to peek out today. not sure if it will help my brooding mood... who the fuck am i kidding? of course it won't. might pick up a pen later on and see if anything other than pure bullshit comes out. fingers are crossed.

hope everyone has a great weekend. take it easy. and if it's easy, take it again.

music today:

Ryan Bingham - Tomorrowland
Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago
Johnny Cash - American VI: Ain't No Grave

and then it rained...

Had a nice storm roll through this afternoon. It actually might have rained for about 20 minutes or so. Only a minor leak in the kitchen this time. Cooled the temperature down to the 70's as well. Hopefully there will be more to come.

The Yankees had a nice rain shortened win over the Blue Jays 6-0. A good way to end a very nice home stand. Good pitching, timely hitting and let mother nature take care of the rest. This team is starting to make me think of the glory days. Can't wait until they actually get healthy. Last west coast swing of the season is up next. More late nights for me.

Happy to see Manchester United get their tour off to a good start. Still waiting to see if Sir Alex has any more tricks up his sleeve regarding transfers. I'm hoping he does. The back line still needs a little help.

Typed up 3 poems today. The last one is probably the best of the bunch. Might be found next to my body in case suicide ever becomes the only option left for me. It's that good.

In other bizarre news, a first for me. Had a friend actually hang up on me (not that rare) and then call back 3 minutes later to apologize. I don't believe that has ever happened to me before. What an odd life.

music for today:

Father John Misty - Fear Fun (might actually be the best CD I've purchased this century)
The Jesus And Mary Chain - 21 Singles 1984-1998
