my back felt much better this morning. i'm wondering if it was the victory beer from last night that made the difference. perhaps. it certainly wasn't a good night of sleep, i can tell you that much.
lets start with some good news. team USA had a stunning 2-1 victory last night in Jamaica. the first time they have EVER won there in World Cup Qualifying. and how they won was truly delicious. Brad Evans picked one hell of a time to have his first goal for his country. i would love to post the highlights here but currently YouTube and Blogger seem to be speaking different languages. check out the highlights on YouTube using this link:

i then went from that high to watching the Yankees offense disappear once again and lose 4-1. i would hate to be a pitcher for the team on these kind of nights. when you have to be damn near perfect to even have a chance to win. it's bad enough that the pitcher who won for Seattle won for the first time in 3 fucking years. so much for the winning streak. and of course i'll be watching in a few hours. a glutton for punishment...
i'll be watching if Chicago beats the Kings tonight to set up an original six Stanley Cup Finals. Boston did their part last night sweeping Pittsburgh out of the playoffs. i had a good laugh with the look on the faces of Crosby and Malkin and the rest of those assholes.
i'll probably watch a little horse racing as well later today. no triple crown to win but it should be interesting to see what happens. the favorite should win as it is the horse's home track.
throw in a little ROH this evening and whatever live music i can find on the numerous music channels i have on DIRECTV and i once again have a full plate in front of me.
i did watch most of the women's final at the French Open this morning. mostly because tennis was a sport i loved as a kid and actually excelled at. that usually shocks the shit out of people. and secondly because i have always found Serena Williams to be incredibly sexy. and there is the second shocker to most people; my love of black women. spend most of your schooling in a black school system and you will understand it. too many fond memories to simply turn my back on or ignore.
a pretty cloudy day here so far. it's not supposed to rain, but i don't trust the fuckers who do the weather here for anything.
and lastly, my mother's birthday gifts came in well before amazon.com said they would. that company continues to outperform my expectations time after time.
i hope everyone is in the middle of a great weekend. or at least with a cold drink in your hand and not one single care in your mind.
music today:
Icona Pop - Iconic EP
Daft Punk - Random Access Memories
Emeli Sande - Our Version Of Events
"It's so long since I've had sex I've forgotten who ties up who." - Joan Rivers
a delightful trip into the dark mind of an evil genius or simply the musings of an asshole

monday morning in the rain
even the rain can't dampen my joy of the Yankees sweeping the Mets on a walk off home run. always nice to stick it to those fuckers.
watched the conclusion of the French Open this morning. really wish it wouldn't have rained in Paris yesterday. nothing against Nadal or anything, just think it would have been a better match without the rain delays.
the holy war of France vs. England starts off EURO 2012 today. i'll be paying close attention since the coach of France is rumored to be the next coach of Manchester United whenever Sir Alex comes down from the mountain.
wrote 3 poems last night. might be a few keepers in the batch. i'll have a better sense when i type them up. sometime today i imagine.
a very happy birthday to the longest crush of my life. damn near a quarter century now. hope you have a great day.
morning music
Hayes Carll - Trouble In Mind

insert Beth Orton lyric here
a good sunday morning to anyone who stumbles upon this blog. i hope you are doing well. better than i am at the very least. a night of shitty sleep after helping the muse deal with a shitty day. got 5 poems rejected from Gloom Cupboard on top of everything as well. you win some, you lose more times than not. welcome to life as a poet.
a nice sports day for me. Yankees going for the sweep. French Open finals. a little Nascar, EURO 2012 as well and i have a nice, well rounded, sophisticated white trash day ahead of me.
nice to see my favorite anti-hero make the NBA finals. maybe LeBron will win it for a change and give the entire world the middle finger. enjoy being the heel. embrace it. you'll never have more fun in your life.
i'm hoping the storms they are calling for tonight are just rain and not much else. i don't need a light show or the power going out. masturbating by candle light can get tricky, if you know what i mean.
happy birthday to the first real love of my life. i hope you are doing well and have a wonderful day with your family and friends.
went a little soft and pretentious for music this morning
Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago
The Civil Wars - Barton Hollow
