so, i thought i got some sleep last night. of course, i was up this morning at 6:30 AM. by 10 AM, i was in my massage chair, watching the Dan Patrick Show. next thing i knew, it was 1:30 in the afternoon. i guess i get better sleep in my massage chair. so, i know the pinched nerve is definitely back. joy.
i was driving home from the bank today and a poem came to me. it never fucking fails, the good ones always come when i don't have a chance to write them down. thankfully, i basically repeated it to myself and wrote it out by the time i got home.
Monday Night Raw was excellent yesterday.
The Voice was very good last night.
i hit a 10 team parlay last night on NBA games. that certainly was unexpected. i always love turning $2.10 into a little over $70.

so, it started really raining last night and it really hasn't stopped. the wind is supposed to really pick up today. i'm hoping the recyclables don't go all over the place since the fucking trash company forgot to pick them up. i took a shower late last night. it didn't really help, but at least i felt clean.
i did watch all 3 NFL games last night. i had a huge bet on the Bengals game last night. i won a $222 bonus bet on Draftkings from Christmas Day. of course, i used it last night on two Bengals scoring touchdowns. the running back got stopped at the 1 multiple times last night. and the wide receiver i had dropped a touchdown. that pretty much sums up my gambling life. any chance i really get to get ahead, the universe always ask me, what the fuck do you think you are doing? i had my father's voice in my head last night. i remember vividly when he told me i would never amount to anything and there would always be a need in the world for people to dig ditches and graves. imagine saying that to your son at 9 years old all because you were mad because you had to wait an entire year to be able to write him off of the taxes when he was born.
the Chargers beat the Patriots, 40-7. the Bengals beat the Broncos, 30-24, in OT. the Rams beat the Cardinals, 13-9.
the USA beat Latvia at the World Juniors yesterday, 5-1. today, they play Finland.
the New York Rangers lost last night at Tampa, 6-2.
i did catch some of the college football games yesterday:

when you root for teams passionately, sometimes you get to taste ecstasy. but, there is always the flip side to that coin. and today, i got just that. Manchester United wasn't clinical with their chances and what should have been a 0-0 draw at Brighton became a 1-0 Brighton win with a 97th minute handball from Luke Shaw. in the grand scheme of things, this loss may mean nothing. but, let me listen to the pessimist for a second. if United finishes in 5th as they watch Liverpool pass them in the standings, this will be the loss that did it for them. and trust me, if they finish 5th and have no Champions League next season, you can kiss goodbye the chance of any star coming to United. fuck me.
the New York Yankees won last night at home against Cleveland, 4-3 in 10 innings. they are off tonight and start a series at Tampa tomorrow night.

i did watch a little bit of day 2 of the NFL Draft last night. the draft concludes later today.
mom's appointment with her back doctor went well yesterday. they were very pleased that her last injection provided some relief and that she is really doing well in physical therapy. she gets her next injection after her birthday in June.
the Orkin guy showed up a little early yesterday. he seems to be a pretty cool dude. big into sports, Charles Bukowski and Run The Jewels. i can imagine we're going to have some interesting conversations. what he put out for the ants worked immediately, so i'm hoping all those fuckers will be gone soon.
Smackdown and NXT Level Up were both really good last night.
AEW Rampage was very good last night:
Real Time with Bill Maher was hilarious last night.
A Black Lady Sketch Show was fucking great last night.

i hope everyone has a great Saturday.
a big thank you to everyone for checking out my latest published poems:
i really thought this was going to be a day where i would be feeling great. the NFL Draft is today, the Yankees won yesterday, the Knicks got out of the first round for the first time in a decade and Manchester United was up 2-0 at halftime. then, i found some more fucking ants in the kitchen and it all turned to shit. my back is killing me. mom is out walking by herself, so my anxiety is raging a bit.
here are your two videos for this day of National Poetry Month:

the New York Rangers play a pivotal Game 5 tonight at New Jersey. the series is tied 2-2.
the New York Yankees start a series tonight down in Texas at the Rangers. hopefully, they will find a way to win tonight.
so, i was pretty happy when Manchester United was up 2-0 at Tottenham at halftime. even when Tottenham made it 2-1, i figured United would score a third goal and see it out. Bruno hit the fucking crossbar and that was about as close as United came to that third goal. ETH's substitutions didn't click today and honestly, they played a role in the 2-2 draw. what truly pisses me off about the two points dropped today, they knew if they won, the top 4 was basically a given for them. now, that is not the case.
i am going to try to get this blog done in the morning tomorrow. mom has a doctor's appointment in the afternoon and Orkin is coming in the early evening.

so, i knew i wanted to get some damn stuff done today. this blog was supposed to be done long before now, but that fucking thing called life always gets in the way. but, i did manage to get to the bank, get to Rite Aid and get some groceries this morning. i was actually feeling good for a change. i took a COVID test a bit ago, and the results were... inconclusive. so, i guess i will take another one a little later today. mom is supposed to get discharged today. i think i know what nursing home she is going to, but i'll have more details later today. i'm hoping the case manager will be calling at some point today.
i have the Dayton Flyers game on in the background. they are playing Robert Morris today. they should win.
Smackdown and NXT Level Up were both pretty good last night.
AEW Rampage was very good last night.
i had to watch Young Rock this morning as for some fucking reason our local NBC had no picture last night, just audio. it was a pretty good episode.
Real Time with Bill Maher was hilarious last night. the show will be back in January.
just had to give myself my Trulicity shot.

so, i did write 3 poems yesterday while mom was doing her physical therapy. i typed them up last night and i think they are pretty good. after she got done, she had to have her frozen Coke. she likes to play this little trick anymore where she forgets to bring any money along at all. so, i had to get my credit card out. i really love when she does this when we're at the mechanic or doctor's office, etc. i remember one time the bill at the mechanic was over $800. she swore she had her credit card on her. of course, she found it on her desk when we got back home. good times.
i love what the New Orleans Saints did in the first round last night. they drafted Chris Olave from Ohio State. he fills a desperate need at WR. and then they drafted the nastiest offensive lineman in the draft in Trevor Penning out of Northern Iowa. that fills another desperate need. hopefully they fill some more holes in the second and third round tonight.
the Yankees won yesterday against the Orioles, 10-5. that is two sweeps in a row. they start a series tonight at the Royals.
Manchester United and Chelsea finished 1-1 yesterday. CR7 to the rescue yet again. he scored 2 minutes after Chelsea took the lead. i only got to see the highlights when i got home.
NXT UK was good yesterday.

so, i got up early this morning to watch the USA play France at the Olympics. France ended up winning, 83-76. that's the USA's first loss at the Olympics since 2004.
the Yankees scored 4 runs in the 8th to shock the Red Sox and most of us Yankee fans as well, to win yesterday, 4-3. hopefully, they can get the split of the series this afternoon.
Tig Notaro: Drawn was fucking hilarious last night.
ROH was good last night.
Manchester United lost that friendly against QPR yesterday, 4-2.
at the Gold Cup yesterday, Qatar defeated El Salvador, 3-2. Mexico beat Honduras, 3-0. today, Costa Rica plays Canada and USA takes on Jamaica.
i did watch a good portion of the Columbus Crew victory over Atlanta yesterday, 1-0.
i thought the New York Rangers did pretty well in the NHL Draft yesterday. now comes the fun of free agency.
the Red Scare won their TBT game yesterday, 88-44. they play again this afternoon. hopefully, they will win again.

it stormed here last night, which made for yet another night of shitty sleep.
a big thank you to everyone who has checked out my latest SoundCloud recording:
i found out last night that Gerald Locklin had died over the weekend. he was one of the poets i always admired, ever since i got into this racket in the 90's. i have a few of his books and we had chatted a couple of times over the years. he was my living link to Charles Bukowski in a sense. rest easy old friend, you will be missed and never forgotten.
my grandmother would have been 109 today. i think she would have enjoyed the inauguration. i did watch some of it, mostly because i wanted to hear Amanda Gorman's poem. she didn't disappoint.
i did get some baseball cards today before i did all the grocery shopping. i bought a couple Fairfield boxes at the local Rite-Aid. i spent less than $10 on them. i did get a numbered hit in one of the boxes. all in all, i probably got close to $25 worth of cards. that put a smile on my face.
the grocery shopping went pretty good today. i'm fucking tired of seeing these assholes with no masks on in the stores. especially this fucking woman today with an infant with her. and i'm the asshole because i hope they catch this shit and die.
the New York Rangers lost last night to the Devils, 4-3. the Rangers had 50 shots on goal. so, it was one of those games where the goalie stole it.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, NXT, AEW, The Masked Dancer and Name That Tune.
the Dayton Flyers were supposed to play tonight but their game against George Washington got postponed because GW's coach has COVID. i'm really fucking hoping that Dayton's coach doesn't get it since their last game was against GW.
i did get home in time to watch the Manchester United game against Fulham today. United did what they always do on the road. give up the first goal and then find a way to win. goals from Cavani and Pogba and United won 2-1.
i turn 45 tomorrow. i have no clue what will be in store for me tomorrow. i know i need to get my driver's license renewed, but that's going to wait until it gets a little warmer. i have until July to get it done. i know i have to take mom to her foot doctor tomorrow. i have no clue if we're going out to eat after that or not. i know i'll be on here sometime in the afternoon most likely.
