here comes the heat...

i guess for the next couple of days, the heat index is going to be around 100. joy.

the Yankees lost yesterday at home to Colorado, 9-2. hopefully, they will find a way to win this afternoon.

the NASCAR race last night was scary as hell.

i did watch some college football yesterday. always great to start off with some upsets.

AEW Collision was good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Big Brother and Industry.

i'm sure i will watch some sports today and hopefully get plenty of time to ice my back down.

i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow.

first time at an Applebee's in over a decade...

so, i did make the drive to take my mother to see her new gastro doc today. he is way better than her old one and actually gave her a correct diagnosis for what she has for the first time in 20 years. after that appointment, we went to Applebee's. that was the first time i had been in an Applebee's in over a decade. that's the beauty of living in a town that basically has nothing but fast food joints. drive 30 miles away and suddenly civilization exists. lunch was good. it was the first time i was ever in a place and everyone got the same alert on their phone at the same time. gave me a good impression of what the apocalypse will be like.

the New York Rangers won last night at Philadelphia, 3-2, in OT. tonight, they play at home against Ottawa. also, tonight will be the first time, Patrick Kane plays with the Rangers. i am fucking pumped for this game tonight.

the New York Knicks destroyed the Nets last night, 142-118.

here are your NBA highlights from last night:

AEW was really good last night.

The Masked Singer was crazy as usual last night.

Snowfall was excellent last night.

enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Young Sheldon and NJPW.

i went to Rite Aid to pick up my prescription today. of course, it wasn't the prescription i thought it would be, so i guess i will be making another trip to Rite Aid in a few days.

i guess the weather is supposed to get nuts the next few days. wind and rain and the chance of floods. oh great.

the start of spring...

i always love when spring starts in Ohio. 9 times out of 10, it still feels like fucking winter.

the New York Rangers won last night in Tampa Bay, 2-1. they won all 3 games with the Lightning this season. that's the first time they have done that in 9 years. the Rangers play tonight at Carolina.

i did watch plenty of college basketball yesterday.

i had no side effects from the Trulicity shot yesterday. i was happy with that.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Billions, Super Pumped: The Battle for UBER, Game Theory with Bomani Jones, Power Book IV: Force and Shining Vale.

the Dayton Flyers play at Vanderbilt this afternoon in the second round of the NIT. if Dayton wins, they will actually get to play at home again.

it will be an interesting day tomorrow. i have to take mom to get x-rays done in the morning. and then in the afternoon, i have to take her to physical therapy. so, most likely, i'll be on here after that is all done.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. i hope your Sunday will be even better.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to everyone.

yesterday was one of those days that had been brewing for over 30 years. my sister and i got into it and i mean at the top of our lungs into it. she seemed clueless why i don't like the holidays. and i brought up being molested by a cousin. she acted like she has only knew about it for a few years now. so, when i told her that i told her, mom and dad in therapy when i was 13, she seemed dumbfounded. all of this came about after my mother fell again, this time in the kitchen. she was trying to walk holding on to the counter, instead of her walker, and sure enough, lost her balance and fell. she brought down a candle that was on one of those candle warmers as well. fun times. thankfully, she didn't hurt break anything on her body. she's going to be bruised and i'm pretty sure her clothes are ruined.

just another day in the house of dysfunction.

my sister and i agreed we need to work on our communication and that brutal honesty is the only way to do so. i also informed her that i am privy to all of mom's conversations with her financial planner, so if you have questions, come to me first. mom's memory of anything anymore is fucking shot to hell.

so, before all that fun shit, i did watch The Matrix Resurrections. it was great. i loved it.

Smackdown and 205 Live were both pretty good last night.

Chillin Island was hilarious last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be AEW Rampage.

i will probably watch plenty of the NBA today as well as the NFL. i do plan on watching that John Madden documentary this afternoon.

i hope everyone got some presents. i do hope what i sent the lucky few arrived long before today.

i now have to go eat some breakfast and open some gifts.

my best to you and yours.

i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow.

until then.

be at peace.

not exactly how i wanted to start my day...

now, i'm sure most people believe that i am spoiled as a Yankees fan. of course, most of them don't realize i was a Yankees fan back in 1982, long before the 90's dynasty spawned a ton of annoying fucks. but, given my hatred of losing and love of winning, these last few years as a Yankees fan has been hard to swallow. so, to see them sign Aaron Boone to a 3 year contract extension today was a bit infuriating. maybe they are trying to redefine insanity now. i'm not sure if just changing a few coaches is really going to change the mojo of the team. Hal might have to actually channel his father and go spend some money on some big names again and hope it all clicks. and as much as i hate to say it, i almost wish the Red Sox win the World Series so the Yankees go nuts and really go big on everything.

the New York Rangers stole a win last night in Toronto. they won 2-1 in OT. Igor Shesterkin had 40 saves last night and absolutely stole the show. Panarin scored in OT. they next play Thursday in Nashville.

The Voice was really good last night.

Monday Night Raw was good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, The Voice and NXT.

the NBA season kicks off tonight, so i'll probably watch some basketball tonight.

i should be on here tomorrow after i get the grocery shopping done and after Manchester United plays in the Champions League.

i did write a poem this morning that i think is really good. hopefully, i can squeeze a few more out real soon.

that's all for me kids. i have to get all the trash ready to go out and figure out what the fuck is for dinner tonight.

spring has sprung...

my grandfather died 41 years ago today. i reminded my mother of that this morning and how she tried to explain to a 4 year old boy why he couldn't attend the funeral. she is mostly scared of all the shit i remember. so am i.

so, Ohio State fucked up my bracket yesterday. thank god i didn't have them in the Final Four.

Smackdown was really good last night. i'm looking forward to Fastlane on Sunday.

205 Live wasn't on Peacock last night. thankfully, my WWE Network subscription doesn't run out for another week. i watched it there. it was good once again.

Real Time with Bill Maher was hilarious last night.

the New York Rangers played really good last night for 55 minutes. you can imagine what happened in the last 5 of the game. Washington won, 2-1. or i should say, Alex Ovechkin 2, Rangers 1. the teams play again tonight. hopefully, there will be a different outcome.

the Yankees lost 4-1 last night to the Phillies. they play the Orioles tonight.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be ROH.

the Dayton Flyers play in the NIT at noon against Memphis. Dayton is a 4 1/2 point underdog. they will have to play great today to win. i'm not counting on it.

i'm sure i will watch plenty of the NCAA tournament today.

i will hopefully be on here tomorrow before Manchester United plays in the FA Cup.

i had to run out to Rite-Aid yesterday to get something for my mother. amazingly, they had two Fairfield boxes of baseball cards there. i got both for $8. there was close to $70 worth of cards in them. that was a great find.

and i got the email last night that my order from Repacked Wax is on the way. so, i should have 5 packs of baseball cards and 5 packs of football cards here soon.

i hope everyone has a great Sunday. hope the weather is good enough in your neck of the woods on the first day of Spring.

made it to Friday, snow on the way...

the "experts" are saying we are supposed to get anywhere from 4 to 8 inches of snow this weekend. that would be way more than we have had for all of winter so far. i asked my mother if she needed anything today as i was going to get it today rather than try this weekend. she said no, so i guess it is time to get ready to see if these motherfuckers are actually going to be correct.

Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows.

the season finale of Total Bellas was good last night.

NXT UK was very good last night.

The Unicorn was hilarious last night.

Cari & Jemele Won't Stick to Sports was very good last night.

the New York Rangers won in OT last night over Buffalo, 3-2. Alexis scored his first NHL goal for the game winner last night. i'm really hoping that opens the flood gates for the kid.

i put my football cards into a better order last night. speaking of cards, i got lucky today and was able to order a 2020 Donruss Optic blaster box on the Panini website. it is becoming increasingly difficult around here to find really anything other than junk wax these days.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Smackdown, Real Time with Bill Maher and Panting with John. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on WWE Network.

i will hopefully be on here tomorrow before Manchester United plays.

if not before then, it will be after the Dayton Flyers game tomorrow.

i think the snow is supposed to start tomorrow night and into Sunday morning. if that does happen, i'll try to get some pictures of the snow.

i suppose i should try to put some bird food out before the snow really gets going.

burning the candle at both ends...

i am currently running on about 4 hours of sleep. i know this is a recipe for me to be dead before i am 50. you would think that matters to me. you'd be wrong.

i wrote 4 poems today while mom was doing her physical therapy. those 4 finished out a little notebook. i typed those up when we got home and i really like them.

after physical therapy, we went to Meijer. they were running a special sale on spices and my sister basically threw most of ours out because they had expired. so, we basically had to restock shit today. mom also got my sister something for Christmas.

after that, we went to the drugstore to put in the order for mom's new walker. by this time, it was almost 4 in the afternoon. we were in Meijer much longer than i wanted to be.

mom decided she wanted to eat at O'Charley's. since this was my late lunch and her early dinner, i said fuck it and got some good food. the bill was like $50 after the tip. thank god i didn't have to pay for that.

the New Orleans Saints won yesterday over Tampa 34-17. i was very pleased with that victory.

Watchmen was fucking great last night.

Silicon Valley was hilarious last night.

Mrs. Fletcher was good last night.

Last Week Tonight was fucking brilliant as usual. that was the last show of 2019. i can't wait for it to come back next year.

Dublin Murders was good last night.

Ray Donovan was very good last night.

Shameless was fucking hilarious last night.

Batwoman was good last night.

enjoy some music:

some mornings you wake up and hear jazz...

i was up at 6:30 this morning. on a fucking Saturday. i suppose this is what i get for going to sleep before 2 AM.

i did type up the epic poem i wrote about the muse yesterday. 3 pages became 2 1/2 when typed. i'm not going to try to get this one published. i joked and told her i might just make it into a book. the joke is, that's definitely a possibility.

i woke up this morning with the sound of Coltrane in my head. i'm not sure why. when i fell asleep last night i was listening to Smashing Pumpkins.

the New York Yankees left runners on base in every damn inning last night. they lost to the Mets 7-5. that puts the Yankees 5 1/2 games behind Boston in the division. it would be nice if the Yankees would start to consistently beat the teams they are supposed to in the second half of the season. today would be a good time to start that.

Major League Wrestling was very good last night.

VICE was excellent last night. i doubt many people think of the parts of Syria that are no longer being bombed.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be ROH.

we had 1.5 inches of rain yesterday. my bones are telling me we might get more today. joy.

this might be a Saturday where i throw on some old kung fu movies and just stay in bed.

if i get a wild hair up my ass, i might do a SoundCloud recording for my new chapbook. i have the poem in mind.

i hope everyone has a great Saturday. take it easy and then take it again.

all rise

the New York Yankees whipped the Royals yesterday 11-3. more importantly, Aaron Judge hit 2 more home runs to give him 50 on the season. that sets the major league record for rookies. the Yankees start a series tonight at home against Tampa. they basically need 1 more win to have home field advantage in the wild card game.

the New York Rangers won last night in OT over Philadelphia 3-2. all 3 wins at home this preseason have been in OT. if that trend keeps up in the regular season, i will surely have a heart attack. they finish the preseason tonight at Philadelphia.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night.

The Big Bang Theory was pretty funny last night.

Young Sheldon was good last night, although it did seem like most of the funny shit was shown in the previews. i'm hoping the next episodes are better.

The Vietnam War was very good last night. it's painfully obvious to see the comparisons between Nixon and Trump. i believe tonight's episode will deal with what happened at Kent State.

The Voice last night was good. i'm going to enjoy Jennifer Hudson this season. these were some of my favorites from last night. hopefully there will be more tonight.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Smackdown, The Jim Jefferies Show, American Horror Story, The Vietnam War and The Voice. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on WWE Network.

i'm never happy when it rains

the rain was supposed to be here by now. my back, as you might imagine, is screaming bloody fucking murder right now. all i can hope is the rain is through here by the time i make the drive to Columbus. i'm not a big fan of driving in the rain, or driving in the rain through construction. let alone having to make that drive twice in a day. good times.

i mostly flipped through some hockey, football, shows on the Discovery channel and the Food Network last night. my fantasy hockey team played much better last night. and i did pick the football game correctly. but all in all it was a night where i just used the massage chair to try to get my back in a better place. i thought it worked until it took me hours to find a comfortable spot in my bed to fall asleep.

i'm lazy this morning so there will be no Flashback Friday today. if you are disappointed, you could always subscribe to my YouTube channel and go watch all my videos there.
https://www.youtube.com/user/jjthepoet1

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

our seats for the hockey game tonight are a little closer to the cannon than i would like, but i can always hope it never sounds except for the pregame shit. i'm not sure why the New York Rangers have to be the season opener for Columbus (this is 2 years in a row). hopefully it goes better than last season. we have to get up there a little earlier than usual because of all the pregame shit. we're in the Club seats once again. that makes it a little easier for mom and myself. my sister ends up walking the arena for a good portion of the pregame. she's a bit of a fanatic when it comes to getting her steps in each day. i'm hoping the Rangers win tonight so my drive home won't be a fucking shit fest. if i don't take losing well in the comfort of my own home, you can imagine how i am when in public. this is where it comes in handy looking like someone you wouldn't want to fuck with to begin with. the Rangers have their home opener on Saturday night against Columbus. if tonight's game gets a little dirty, Saturday night will be a bloodbath.

i'm really hoping the DVR works well tonight as Undateable and NJPW will be recording while i'm up in Columbus. i'm really looking forward to Undateable. this whole season will be live. that should be fucking awesome.

i'll be on here early tomorrow morning as Ohio State plays at noon tomorrow. plus tomorrow is the HUGE game between Mexico and the USA. as usual, a busy sports Saturday.

i hope everyone has a great weekend. if i'm not full of piss and vinegar tomorrow morning, you will know mine got off to a decent start.

and then suddenly, i feel like i'm 80 years old

i noticed yesterday my left hand was killing me. ice didn't help at all. that is when i immediately thought of my grandmother and her gnarly hands she had. the joys of arthritis. and i can just imagine my luck seeing that i'm a writer and sort of need both hands to type shit up. of course, i can hunt and peck like a motherfucker. but having to sit forever to type shit isn't exactly good for someone with a history of blood clots. good times.

Manchester United more or less cemented themselves in 4th place for this season with the 1-1 draw with Arsenal today. that means they will have to go through a playoff in August to actually make the Champions League. and judging from today's game, it looks like it is going to be another busy summer with the obvious need for more and better players.

the New York Yankees got some great pitching from CC last night and the offense finally showed up. that ended a 4 game losing streak. they will hopefully win the series when they play again this afternoon:

the New York Rangers had a dominant first period yesterday. of course, they didn't score. the second period was more even right until the last few seconds:
that helped ease my mind greatly as Tampa's goalie has owned us over the years. Tampa ties in the game in the 3rd with a power play goal. that will be key in this series. the Rangers have to keep out of the box. fast forward to under 3 minutes left in the 3rd and what happens when you just get the puck on goal:
the Rangers held on from there for a 2-1 win. they go up 1-0 in the series. it also marks the first time they beat Tampa this season. and also the first time they have ever beaten Ben Bishop. that was a tasty victory beer after that one. enjoy some highlights:
Game 2 is Monday night. so much for watching The Voice finals live.

i will watch ROH from last night later this afternoon. i caught bits and pieces while watching Saturday Night Live last night. but since i will spend most of this evening watching pro wrestling, i might as well get in the mood early.

as for Saturday Night Live, i thought it was pretty damn funny. i love Louis C.K. and his willingness to talk about shit that makes people uncomfortable. go on YouTube and see what i'm talking about.

tonight i'll be watching WWE Payback on the WWE Network. i figure if i'm paying for the network, i might as well watch it. i don't have any high hopes for this one, so hopefully it's much better than i fear. that means on the DVR tonight will be Nurse Jackie, Happyish, Penny Dreadful, Silicon Valley, Veep, and Last Week Tonight. chances are i'll watch some of them after the wrestling goes off. if not, i'm going to have a busy Monday afternoon.

that's pretty much all for me today. these old bones are going to spend some time in the shower and maybe get a nap in before a long night in front of the television.

hope everyone is having a better weekend than i am.

fighting the world on little sleep

i suppose the only good thing that has happened in the last 48 hours is i no longer have a headache. other than that...

welcome to the 15th day of National Poetry Month. today, i'm shining a light on Epic Rites Press. it is easily, one of the best presses around. i highly suggest you check out the site and then go BUY a book, a t-shirt, a magnet, something. here are a few links you may need:

i think i may have got 2 good hours of sleep last night. the kind of sleep where you have drool halfway up your arm. then, i was over at the farm taking some more shit to goodwill with mom. she then wanted to go shop at a store not far from the Goodwill. i wanted to go back to the farm and get more shit done. of course, i didn't win. i did get some beer out of the shopping, so all was not lost.

the Yankees lost last night 4-3. hopefully they will get the series win tonight against the Orioles.

i was a little shocked at who America saved last night on The Voice. apparently, a bunch of teenage boys got on twitter and voted for the one they wanted to have sex with. not that Deanna isn't stunning, but to my ears her performance fucking stunk. being a blues guy, i was hoping Mia Z was going to stick around. but, i've got a good clue who is going to be in the bottom three next week.

it was nice having Deadliest Catch back on last night. it's definitely one of the better shows on television. this season looks like it's going to be another crazy one.

i did see some late night television last night that made me laugh and feel old at the same time:

tonight is going to be a crazy one for me. a little baseball, team USA takes on Mexico in a soccer friendly/war, Lucha Underground will be on the DVR as i'll be checking out NXT on the WWE Network at the same time, and then, oh by the way, the NHL playoffs start tonight. thankfully, the New York Rangers start tomorrow night. this will be a long, long evening.

got some music at NoiseTrade today. i'll post the links below in the music section.

as you might imagine, i have a few poems swimming around my head these days. hopefully, i will get a chance to sit down and let the flood hit the page here in the next few days. i want to get those poems down before the chance to know my father is dead comes along. i can't imagine the poems that will come with that news.

that's all for me today. there's another round of storms coming. and i found out today the guy that lives on the other side of me is one of these old fuckers that mows the grass every three days or so. thank fucking god that the guy that mows my uncle's yard does ours as well. i'd be too tempted to pull some white trash shit and either mow when it needs it (once a month or so) or just concrete the whole fucking yard and make it a basketball court.

hope this finds you with a lovely blonde between your legs asking if you need another round.

be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

peace and chicken grease...
