get hot, storm, rinse, repeat

we have now entered the never ending summer cycle of heat, humidity, storm, night, do it all over again. at one point yesterday, the thermometer we have outside read 115 on it. thankfully, it was directly in the sun at the time. most of the day though, it was over 90 degrees. so imagine my joy when i wake up this morning and it is already 80 degrees. fuck me.

my friend Paul did come over yesterday to watch the USA absolutely destroy Cuba 6-0. finally, they played a full 90 minutes. they will next play Jamaica in the semifinals of the Gold Cup. enjoy some highlights:

the New York Yankees lost yesterday 4-3. Pineda really only made 2 mistakes. sadly, they both ended up in the seats. but, at least they gave themselves a chance in the 9th, but the rally fell short. they go for the series win this afternoon.

Power last night was really good. it had a nice twist near the end that i truly wasn't expecting. it should make the next few weeks really interesting.

ROH was kind of disappointing last night. it was the 200th episode and they decided to treat most of it as a clip show. for someone who has seen most of the 200 episodes, this was just a trip back into recent memory. if it would have been the history of the company, it would have made more sense. and the main event of the show was great, but it couldn't save the previous 45 minutes.

now go enjoy some music, some humor and my reminder of why i like women with curves:

WWE Battleground is on tonight. so my usual Sunday night shows are going to become my late night/early Monday morning Sunday night shows. on the DVR tonight will be Big Brother, The Strain, True Detective, The Brink, Ballers, Last Week Tonight, Ray Donovan and Masters of Sex. that is if the storms don't knock out the satellite feed like last night.

a thing just popped up on the computer saying the storms are going to hit in 2 hours. good times.

hopefully tonight at Battleground Kevin Owens takes the US Championship away from John Cena. that would make me a very happy man. as for the rest of the show, as long as Lesnar and Rollins have a classic, i'm ok with whatever else happens.

i went on a LinkedIn rampage last night tracking down people from my past. not sure if part of me is dying to come out of my cage or if i'm just a lonely fucker at times who gets sick of myself most days. welcome to my world.

that's all for me this morning. my ankle is starting to bother me, so i know rain is on the way. good times. i hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday. if it wouldn't be so damn hot and stormy i'd go downtown for the Blues Festival, but i can't see that happening.

at least the power hasn't gone out

i'm currently typing this between cracks of thunder. we had some fuck me storms come through this morning and knocked out the phone and internet for a few hours. that was fun. on with the show...

welcome to the 8th day of National Poetry Month. today, i'm shining a bright fucking light on my friend, William Taylor Jr. easily, one of the best poets around and from everything i have heard, one of the kindest souls on earth. here are a few links to help you find and/or BUY some of his work:

and here is a video of the man reading:
do yourself a favor and pick of some of William's books today.

the New York Rangers beat the Devils last night 4-2 to win the President's Trophy, which signifies the best record in the NHL for the regular season. they have 2 more games to go and just need 2 points to have the most points in franchise history. here are some highlights from last night:

weather permitting, i will be watching NXT tonight while the DVR will have on The Voice and Lucha Underground. i am interested in seeing who gets voted off The Voice tonight. i'm not sure if there are any real breakout artists this season. but there is PLENTY of really good this season.

had a few laughs last night:

mom finally got her car back today. we brought some more shit over from the farm. the cats didn't look like they were very happy with me. those fuckers should understand they are lucky i feed them at all now.

that's all for me today. i think the Yankees are on, unless it is raining there as well. hopefully, wherever the fuck you are, you are dry. unless you are masturbating, then you'll probably like to be wet.

the harvest

the soybeans were taken off today on the farm. that means all of the crops have been harvested. so, hopefully that means a nice check or two will be arriving in the next week or so.

i got excited this morning when i saw the new Run the Jewels album was being given away as a free download. i jumped all over that. and after my fourth time listening to it today, it's fucking awesome. go to http://www.runthejewels.net/ to check it out.

i watched a lot of the NFL game last night. thankfully, i had the WR that Peyton Manning threw the 3 TD's to. that worked out well since my opponent had Peyton. i ended up with 1 more fantasy point on the evening. that will hopefully be a good sign for the weekend.

saw a weird fucking cat today when i was out feeding them. i have never seen one like it out here before. i think it may be a stray kitten or just a shy one that has stayed hidden for months. black and gold with fur like a shag carpet. when i saw it i first thought it was a fucking mini ewok. i went out this afternoon and the cat was still around. that's two strays that have showed up and just stayed in the last month. they're going to be shit out of luck when we move.

i think my sister is coming down here tonight, although i have no clue at what time to expect her. she's here for the weekend. most of the time she'll be with her friends. i think she views the farm as a place to sleep.

mom saw the doctor today. she doesn't have an ear infection. the doctor believes it's something with the shunt. so now the fun really begins.

i'm looking forward to the Foo Fighters show on HBO tonight. if it is anything like the first episode, i will have a new favorite series to watch.

i'm guessing i will be on here in the morning before the latest El Clasico. for those of you who have no fucking clue what i'm talking about, it's Barcelona vs. Real Madrid. after that is over, it's down to UD Arena to watch the Red and Blue Game for the men's and women's teams of Dayton basketball. get home from that and get ready for Ohio State to play at night. another full day of sports. hopefully i'll get some rest because my Sunday is going to be nuts as well. more on that on the weekend.

i hope everyone has a great weekend. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

the weekend

i damn well know one of these days i'm simply going to burn out. i'm 38 and still think i can function well enough on just 3 hours of sleep. but, until that day comes, fuck it...

Manchester United won today 2-1. goals from Rooney and RVP. sadly, the bad Wayne Rooney showed up again and got a needless red card in the 59th minute. i'm proud of the boys for hanging on and winning a game they could have easily folded and lost. but, they will now be without their captain for the next 3 games. i guess Juan Mata goes back in the starting lineup. of course, if he doesn't, that should tell him exactly what the manager thinks of him. until then, i'm going to enjoy this victory beer.

the Yankees won last night 3-2. Jeter didn't play and both teams basically played minor leaguers for the most part. i believe the plan is for Jeter to DH today and tomorrow.

Ohio State plays this evening against Cincinnati. this has trap game written all over it. i'm pretty sure my buddy from high school is coming over to watch it. that should be interesting.

The Knick last night was brutal and excellent. the graphic violence last night was the brutal part. i believe some people forget just how racist the north was in parts around 1900. and i'm sure someone just read that and muttered still is. the ending was interesting. i would have liked some more nudity, but i'm a pig like that.

i had a long conversation with the muse last night. we talked each other to sleep basically. i'm amused that she's now taking an interest in my writing after i got a poem about her published. she didn't much care about that when it was happening all the time in 2012. anyways, i do hope she is feeling better today.

on tap for tonight will be some college football, a new episode of ROH, and the season premiere of Saturday Night Live. hopefully all of them are worth me staying awake for.

the cats and birds are fed. i have a ton of dishes to do. might as well get them done before the day gets away from me.

i do hope everyone has a glorious weekend. for my European friends, may your football team be victorious and may you get drunk in the process. for my American friends, may your alma mater do you proud or just enjoy your tailgate responsibly.

thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

slow news day

so i was watching the news this afternoon about the plane crash in the Ukraine. i fell asleep. i woke up to Israel starting a ground operation in the Gaza Strip. except in my mind, it was the same event. so i'm flipping through the channels thinking WW3 is starting. i eventually took a shower to make sure i was really awake.

mom made some really good turkey burgers for lunch. i think she may have sprinkled on some extra tryptophan on them. at least that's what i'm going with for the long nap this afternoon.

i watched Big Brother last night, just to really see how Donny beat Devin in the POV competition. that made me laugh out loud. so, thankfully, Devin will be evicted tonight and i can go back to enjoying the show.

other than Big Brother tonight, i'm going to try the new comedies on FX, Married and You're the Worst. hopefully the previews didn't have all the good parts. i love some good crass humor.

Wilfred was really good last night. i love how they are doing this final season.

The Bridge was creepy as fuck last night. just when i think that show can't get any better, it proves me wrong.

since i'm not a big fan of golf, there really isn't much sports going on today. thankfully, that will change in the next week or so.

amazingly, the humidity held off for another day here. so, the windows are still open.

my mom and sister went in on some hockey tickets for the Columbus Blue Jackets. i think they did a quarter season. all i know is i get to see my beloved New York Rangers twice next season. it's always fun to wear the enemy colors into a building. of course, when the Rangers aren't playing, i'll just be a fan for those games.

i heard a Todd Snider song on the radio yesterday as i was scrubbing the toilets. thankfully, i found the full, uncensored song on iTunes this morning. i've been playing the shit out of it today.

that's pretty much all for me today. hopefully this finds everyone well. and hopefully no one reading this had anyone on that plane today.

the last pleasant day for god knows how long

the comfortable weather here has one more day and then summer returns with the god awful humidity and fucking heat. hopefully i'll just nap all day long with the windows open. now i know that won't happen, but a guy can dream right? oh, i can't. my bad.

i was disappointed with the World Cup games yesterday. the games weren't that exciting until the last 10 minutes or so. i understand that the stakes are higher and teams are playing a little closer to the vest. but who the fuck waits until there's only a few minutes left to throw caution to the wind? oh that's right, France does. Germany beats France 1-0. Brazil beat Colombia 2-1 in a brutal game. way too many fouls for the number of cards given. i give Brazil credit for beating the shit out of James Rodriguez. big ups to him for taking it and still scoring. but the Brazil win comes at a cost. their best defender will miss the semifinal (yellow card accumulation) and their best player (Neymar) will miss the rest of the World Cup with a broken vertebra. ouch. i don't like their chances of winning it all without him. they next play Germany on July 8th.

today Costa Rica takes on the Netherlands and Argentina plays Belgium. i have the Netherlands and Argentina moving on. hopefully the games today are better than yesterday.

our internet was out for nearly 9 hours yesterday. fucking Frontier Communications. and what i really loved was when we finally got through to them, they had no fucking clue what happened, but it was affecting 100,000 customers. it constantly amazes me how INEPT that fucking company is.

thankfully, i had less than 100 emails to go through when i was able to get back on at 10:30 last night.

the Yankees won again yesterday, 6-5. they scored all their runs in the first two innings and then held on for the win. two in a row, holy shit. they play again this afternoon. hopefully they can actually get a winning streak going. they are in the right city for it.

i was a little stunned with the Cubs and A's trade last night. personally, i think the A's got the 2 best pitchers on the market. i have no fucking clue where the Yankees go for pitching help now.

since i couldn't get online last night, i flipped between the Food Network, some pro wrestling, and the 4th of July concert The Roots do in Philly every year. i think i would have been better off just going to bed.

i did put a little extra rum in my Coke last night, so i slept pretty damn good. of course, most of that was in my chair and not in my bed. i feel like i'm in my fucking 60's. death can't be too far away.

that's the only way i drink any soft drinks by the way, with alcohol.

that's pretty much all for me today. hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

take it easy. and then take it again.

surviving the brutal heat

around 6 pm yesterday, the heat index was at 97. that's too high for my sensitive skin. i fully expect to go out and find dead cats later this morning. or maybe the dumb fuckers actually figured out why the water is out there for them.

my back is doing slightly better, like how the number 13 is slightly larger than the number 12. i'm hoping a nice hot shower will help.

on to your daily World Cup updates...

Belgium came from behind to beat Algeria, 2-1. South Korea and Russia played a mistake filled 1-1 draw. Mexico and Brazil played one of the more entertaining 0-0 draws you will ever see. Mexico can thank their goalkeeper for that point.

today the Netherlands plays Australia, Croatia plays Cameroon, and in the juicy affair of the day, Spain plays Chile. that is a MUST WIN game for Spain. should be entertaining.

i believe my sister is coming down here tonight. first chance she's had to get down here for mom's birthday. i suppose there will be cake.

the Yankees got another great outing from Tanaka (minus that first pitch home run he gave up) and just enough offense to win 3-1. Tanaka is now 11-1 with an ERA under 2. worth every fucking penny. they go for the series win tonight.

Deadliest Catch was pretty damn good last night. loved the look on Sig's face when he got the news that his daughter would be coming fishing with them. priceless.

not sure what i will be watching on television this evening, other than baseball. this may be an evening where i get a little writing done or spend hours working on my back.

that's all for me. i suppose i should get out to feed the animals before it gets too damn hot again.

hope this finds everyone well. be cool.

a slight glimpse of hope

last night was another of those sports nights that i wish i would have been a comic book fan and never liked sports at all. but, thankfully, this afternoon has offered a glimpse of hope.

Manchester United won 3-1 over Hull City with James Wilson getting the first 2 goals on his debut with the senior team. not bad for 18 years old. RVP got the other goal on an assist from Ryan Giggs, who played the last 20 minutes of the game. he nearly scored but the goalie made a great save. i did laugh when the announcers said that the goalie must not have read the script since this was likely Giggs' last game at Old Trafford as a player. first season out of the 23 that he didn't score. unless of course he plays on Sunday. that will mark the end of this horrific season and the start to the summer of who knows what the fuck is going to happen next. thankfully, i'll have the World Cup to keep my mind from constantly thinking about it.

as for last night, the New York Rangers lost 2-0 in game 3. that's 2 straight games that they haven't scored. the power play showed signs of life last night but couldn't score, which is beyond frustrating by now. they better tie this series up in game 4 or it is going to be over soon.

the Yankees invented another way to lose last night. top of the 8th, bases loaded and no outs and they can't get anyone in. of course, a bad call from the umpire is the excuse these assholes will use. and then in the bottom of the 8th they walk FIVE straight batters to give the Angels the game, 4-1. that drove my frustration to the point that i was up until 4 in the morning.

Louie was excellent last night. both episodes made me laugh. the poker table scene was the best tv i have seen in 2014. helps when some of my favorite comics are involved.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good as well. i thought the show kept a decent pace for most of the evening even though the crowd was absolutely dead at times.

The Voice last night was really, really good. i have no clue who is going home tonight. i believe they cut it from 8 to 5 this evening. chances are there will be 3 people that could have won the whole thing going home tonight. i really think the talent this season is strong.

as for tonight, after The Voice will be Deadliest Catch. after that will be my torture of watching the Yankees. i imagine i will be watching some playoff hockey and basketball as well this evening. and hopefully i will be getting to sleep much earlier than last night.

i am planning on mowing the grass tomorrow. both of my legs feel much better and the weather looks like it is going to be great. i want to start sometime in the late morning so i can be done in time to get a shower in before the New York Rangers play again.

chances are i will write my next blog in the morning. i doubt i will be interested in writing after hours in the sun. i doubt i will be interested in doing anything.

hope this finds everyone well. hopefully your teams are doing better than mine. these are the days i wish i had a woman that could take my mind off of things. my hands are developing carpal tunnel i believe. enjoy that visual.
